You need great speakers to turn the audio signals from your car stereo into music. The Evolution™ TR series speakers take advantage of JL Audio's extensive research and obsessive testing to deliver excellent performance at prices any audio enthusiast can afford. Evolution™ TR speakers come in a wide range of sizes so you can improve the sound in almost any vehicle.
JL Audio's TR650-CXi 6-3/4" speakers use mica-filled long-excursion polypropylene woofers for enhanced low-frequency response that'll really fill out your drums and bass. The 1/2" woven textile dome tweeters broadcast all the little details that bring your music to life. Ferrofluid cooled tweeters and butyl rubber surrounds mean that these speakers will bring you great music for many years to come.
Note: JL Audio describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.
Priced per pair
The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.
On a stock Honda Ridgeline factory head unit these are okay speakers. The highs and mids are excellent. The bass is clear but underwhelming.
Pros: Excellent sound clarity, mids, and highs.
Cons: Bass is underwhelming compared to factory speakers
I have been impressed with these speakers which replaced the OEM speakers in my 2008 Silverado 2500HD. The sound is clear no matter how high I crank it up. I bought these because they were high quality and the speaker RMS matches my stereo well so didn't need an amp.
Pros: Great sounding speakers that do not require a ton of wattage to be loud and clear.
Cons: I truly cannot think of a con.
Great speakers! They compliment the focal speakers in front.
Very nice smooth sound
Pros: Excellent sound quick and safe delivery
Saw some reviews how this didn't fit the rear of a 350z but I tried it anyhow and it lined up perfectly to factory holes on my 2003 non Bose/navigation Z. Many of the forums say it's better to not have rears but after putting these in my sound is much fuller across the spectrum.
Pros: Was I direct fit for me and MUCH better quality then the phoniex gold crap that a previous owner installed.
Cons: Just wish they had just a little bit lower range but I think a lot has to do with its size and being non component.
PERFECT REPLACEMENT FOR 350Z DOOR SPEAKERS WENT WELL WITH 4 CHANNEL AMP AND JBL COMPONENT SPEAKERS
This was my first pair of JL Audio speakers. I have always used Pioneer, but none are available for my 01 Corvette. I am quite pleased with these; they are much better than the stock units. One would think that a car that came with a Bose system would not need anything - think again. No highs, no lows.......must be Bose. Easy to install once I figured out that all I needed to do was remove the grille covers to access the speakers.
Pros: Sound quality, price, ease of installation.
Cons: Crutchfield installation instructions for my 2001 Corvette Coupe were unnecessarily complicated. They involved removing the roof panel (Targa top), the interior roof trim, and the pillar trim. Needless, as all that was needed was removal of the speaker grilles to gain access to the 4 screws securing the speakers.
I installed these in my Honda Ridgeline recently after upgrading my receiver a few months ago. Even without an additional power amplifier they offer a great improvement over the factory speakers. Much greater definition, solid bass and crisp highs. The install was fairly easy. It did require a bit of modification, particularly on the rear doors, to the included plastic adapters. A bit of sealant as well made a tight fit. Once the adapters were in place the speakers dropped right in. The supplied screws had to be cut down but no big deal. The wiring harness adapter was a nice touch too and save cutting off the factory connector. Not inexpensive, but highly recommended
Pros: Great improvement in sound quality
Cons: A few mods to make them fit Pricy
I replaced the stock speakers in my Toyota, and these sound great. I'm no expert, but I feel like the sound is much improved. The price is reasonable for this level of improvement. The only limitation is that my car isn't the quietest inside.
Pros: terrific sound at all levels of volume
Cons: extra install charge because wooden backings had to be created to fit in car
Great sounding speaker to replace factory door speakers in my Toyota FJ. Very clear mids and highs.
Pros: Awesome fitment with Crutchfield brackets and wiring adapter, a true plug-n-play installation!
I'd like to give these 5 stars but I can't. I bought 4 to replace the OE door speakers in my 2004 Matrix with a Kenwood DNX570HD head unit . I was hoping to get a little more bass than the OEs and not have to put any money into adding a subwoofer on a 10yr old car. While the JLs definitely produce better sound than the OE speakers, they actually produce less, albeit cleaner, bass. I can't get them to produce even a hint of a thump or rumble. I am sure I was expecting too much and I imagine I'm going to love them if/when I decide to add a subwoofer.
Installation was fine with the Crutchfield kit although the screws with the speakers were too long for the brackets in the kit. They bottomed out on the door and caused the bracket to lift, creating an air gap. Fortunately I had a enough spare screws laying around to make it work.
Pros: Very good sound and great audio separation over the OE speakers. The JLs create much fuller sound in the cabin of the car.
Cons: Wimpy bass response. Installation screws were too long for the brackets in the Crutchfield kit.
Product was very easy to install
Pros: So far great sounding even with stock stereo
These speakers are fantastic---just make sure you have adequate power. They need juice. Most likely a factory head unit would not be enough---I had to add a power amp to get them to sound great...so glad I did.
Pros: Tremendous clarity-----good solid bottom end.
Cons: They require a lot of power/wattage.
Wow! I am happy I chose these speakers.
The speakers sound great with the stock head unit. I replaced all 4 stock door speakers (front and back) with these 6.75" JL Audio TR650-CXi speakers. The whole project was simple. It might have taken an hour or a little more max. The mounting hardware needed a minor adjustment for the speakers to fit as they are setup for 6.5" or 6.75". There are 4 plastic screw tabs that would be used with the 6.5" speakers that you need to trim off for the 6.75" speakers. The mounting screws are also a .25" to long. I used cutters and trimmed them down. Again, all easy modifications.
The sound is amazing compared to the stock speakers. All genres sound crisp and clean with plenty of bass. Even when cranked up, the sound is crisp and clean. I wish I would have installed these years ago.
Pros: Easy install Clean and crisp sound on the GM stock head unit All mounting hardware and wire harnesses included when ordering from Crutchfield
These were an upgrade for my factory rear door speakers in my 2008 silverado crew cab. They sound great nice and crisp with punchy bass. These blow the stock speakers away
Pros: sound output overall construction
Cons: installation brackets that come with must be modified
Easy to install sounds great just what I expected after reviewing with tech person
They sound great
Cons: The brackets don't fit a Toyota sequoia.
These do not fit a 350z whatsoever I spent a few hours trying to make it fit and these are not 6 3/4 but 6 1/2 speakers thus stated in the model number. Also to chime in for us Nissan owners especially Gs and Zs we need a spacer because they can fit both front and back but need at least a bracket with 1 inch clearance or it'll kiss your windows and for the rear it won't mount because the holes do not line as well because it won't clear the slots for the mounting holes for the top cover either thus yielding a bad fit . So dont be like me research ahead and get spacers/adapters for these speakers besides that they sound amazing for your money's worth even with a decent deck with no amp or sub, it responds well with my JVC kw800bt on a test run .
Pros: Sounds amazingly clear in comparison to old speakers or a good price . good mids and lows and for a few dollars more the CSi has better bass but however this can be compensated with a sub, therefore not worth getting if doing so.
Cons: Needs brackets for mid 2000s Nissan applications and not implied in the notes.drivers need to be smaller for windows.
Awesome sounding speakers plenty of bass. Sound great in my 08 GMC Sierra.
Pros: Great sound, Great Price
Cons: Have to make minor adjustments to the brackets, but nothing major.
Replaced these with JL Audio C3-650's as I wanted a component speaker.. I'm not seeing a lot of difference between the two speakers.. The C3-650's have a little more bass.. The C3-650's cost a lot more and they are somewhat better, but if you hadn't heard them both you would never know it.. Awesome speaker for the price, sounds just as good as the next model up.. Save some money buy these you won't regret it!! After all they are JL Audio, you know they're going to sound great!
Pros: Sound as good as the higher priced model..
Great sound with solid construction. Easy installation w/supplied instructions
Pros: Can't beat the price!
Cons: None so far!
Had 2 sets of these put in a new chevy crew cab yesterday and they made a huge difference. From lows to the highs the difference is very noticeable. I highly recommend JL to anyone looking to upgrade their sound system.
Pros: Sound clarity
These were very easy to install. Instructions were great as were the speaker harness connectors which were included. I can just about turn the radio all the way up with no distortion. Excellent upgrade from my worn out factory speakers.
Pros: Ease of installation.
Cons: Price is always a con.
Great speakers I have a 92 ford f150 with 2000watt hifonics amp 3 12s 1 10 and the sound is just so clear and clean from the jls
I got these as a christmas gift for my 2008 Chevy Malibu. I recently had blew a speaker and the sound quality just dropped. Once these were installed, you could easily tell that the sound was cleaner, tighter, and darker. They have very nice base which i can feel moving me and these are so good that im not considering a subwoofer anymore
Pros: Im able to here all the mid voices since i have installed these speakers. Compliments my stock rear deck speakers very well
Cons: Nothing at all
I installed these to replace the stock speakers in a new work van.. Spending a lot of time on the highway deserves good speakers so turned to these JLs which sound fantastic with a single sub in the back.. They have a crispness and definition that goes loud enough to turn the business in the front to a party in the back in short order..
These speakers are fantastic! Installed in the rear deck of a Nissan Sentra, sound
quality is excellent. I am very surprised with the amount of bass these things handle,
and the highs don't crack unless pushed to the limit. With sub-bass at +1 on my JVC
Arsenal, rock and metal sound great at any volume. Bass and techno are very good at
mid volume. I really want a second pair for the doors, but unfortunately they don't fit.
Overall, a very stout 6 3/4" speaker that is well worth the money. I highly reccomend
Bought these speakers to upgrade from factory front door speakers in my chevy silverado. Wow, what a difference. They work very well with the factory stereo.
Clean highs and solid midbass. I would definately recommend these for a low cost, simple upgrade. JL has got my business for sure.
Replaced Infinity speakers in rear door of 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - awesome choice! Not disappointed at all - very clean sound. Looking to add more products from the JL lineup to complete the system in the future.
Paired these with an Alpine IDA X100 and Alpine 6.5 speakers in the front. These JL speakers are in the mid panel of a 1999 Corvette and sound great! I powered the system with a 1x200 amp. I will be adding a JL sub woofer as the lows are missing at lower volume levels.
