You need great speakers to turn the audio signals from your car stereo into music. The Evolution™ TR series speakers take advantage of JL Audio's extensive research and obsessive testing to deliver excellent performance at prices any audio enthusiast can afford. Evolution™ TR speakers come in a wide range of sizes so you can improve the sound in almost any vehicle.
JL Audio's TR690-TXi 6"x9" speakers use mica-filled long-excursion polypropylene woofers for enhanced low-frequency response that'll really fill out your drums and bass. The 2" Mylar midrange drivers handle the vocal range, while 1/2" woven textile dome tweeters broadcast all the little details that bring your music to life. Ferrofluid cooled tweeters and butyl rubber surrounds mean that these speakers will bring you great music for many years to come.
Priced per pair
The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.
The speakers sound grate the customer service is awesome!
Pros: Good high and mid bass
Cons: Nothing yet
Amazing! My bf loved this gift. Great sound easy to put in!
Best 6x9 I came across ever...
Pros: Very clear sound
Bought these thinking that I will need to modify something because the guide says that they will not fit in the doors of my challenger. They fit perfectly, make sure you attach the spacer that is included with the speakers. Not sure why the tech advisors say they won't fit.
J.L................. ;) I'm very impressed with all quality..Sound is a magnificet!!
Pros: Easy Connections..High Quality structure...sound is top notch!!!
Cons: sorry but..I cant think of none.... I can't wait to oreder more!!!
Installed these about one year ago and they work great! Given the right set up these can produce some excellent bass with great mids and highs.
Pros: Bass when I want it
Cons: Installation was very tight in the 99 accord,
Replaced factory door speakers in 2013 frontier. These are fantastic. Sound is loud and crisp. Using pioneer 2 din head unit.
Pros: Highs, good mid to low
Not bad for the money. Could be a little cleaner sounding.
Pros: Good sounding speaker, price
Cons: Clarity could be a little better
I installed these as direct replacement in my wifes Accord a few weeks ago. We
decided to keep the factory receiver. The install went much faster than expected.
The overall sound quality is great, she has mentioned that she used to have the
volume higher than now, and the mids and highs are crystal clear.
BUT..... We now have no bass. She since has kept the bass setting maxed out
and we still don't get but half the bass we used to. At first she asked if we could
put the old speakers back in, she has also mentioned the need for a sub. I am
hoping they will loosen up and sound better after a few more weeks.
Overall we are happy (I think)but we may be spending more money soon
I replaced my factory door 6x9's in my 2006 Xterra with these (I used the 5.25 JL from this
series for the rear) and the sound and range is amzing! I was blown away. I am using a
Kenwood head unit and 4x60 amplifier.
The sound using FM or satellite radio is quite clearer and much richer through the range. I
only have the gains on the amp turned up about 1/3 and it is plenty for these speakers.
The real sound difference is when you plug in an ipod or use a CD (do they still make
those?), WOW! the bass response at good volume (fairly loud) is incredible for what these
are. They will not replace a sub for those wanting true deep earth shaking bass, but if you
just want clean sound and good range, these deliver very tight response with bright highs
and smooth mids. I would definitely reccommend them.
I installed these bad boys in a 2000 Honda Accord EX-L Sedan. They were a
perfect fit. I didn't have to modify anything and was able to use the same
screws I unscrewed from the factory 6x9's. All the holes lined up.
I also purchased the Honda speaker harnesses from CF and was able to easily snap
my speakers into the factory speaker harnesses. No messing around with stripped
wires or crimping. I was able to install both in less than 30 minutes.
It didn't take long to break these speakers in (just a couple hours of bass
heavy music) and these speakers sound very clear and loud. The bass wasn't as
"boomy" as some of the reviews would have you believe but it is definitely there
and it is quite punchy and tight. Many people enjoy this type of bass, I tend to
like it more boomy. You can achieve boomy bass of you push your bass levels to
the max (+7), but that's not recommended. I keep my level at +3 or +4 and they
I have an Alpine HU and I am using the Alpine 445 power pack amp to boost all
four of my channels to 45w RMS. With 45w RMS these speakers can get very loud
with very little distortion, if any. The mids and the highs are probably these
speakers shinning asset.
Unless you want to pay out another 100 dollars for some speakers with a bit more
bass, I'd recommend these speakers for daily use. They have filled my car with
rich sounding audio.
I have a 2005 Accord coupe and replaced my factory speakers with these about 2 months ago. These speakers sound incredible even off of deck power. I originally bought these with the intention of replacing them as soon as I replaced the rest of my system but after 1 listen they get to stay. I'm going to be replacing my front speakers with a C5 component set and installing a JL 500/5 amp along with a 10W3 or the flat 12 when it hits the market along with a clean sweep and a cap. You can NOT go wrong with these speakers. I run live sound and the JL stuff impresses me which rarely ever happens. Thanks to JL for desiging a speaker for SQ first and SPL as an after thought cause 35 year old kids are more worried about what it sounds like in the car than 6 blocks away! And thank you CF for having harnesses so I didn't have to wack my factory harness up!
I have had this model JL 6X9 in the back of my Saab 9000 for almost 5 years and they sound just as sweet as the day I put them in. Currently they are hooked up to my Alpine CDA-9813 (of the same vintage) with 4in JLs in the dash and 2 JL 10w1v2 subs running off a JL 250/1v2. This setup sounds amazing and the 6X9s do not distort even at high volume levels.
If you are shopping for a 6X9 speaker that will last a long time and produce deep and detailed sound, look no further than these JLs...you will not be disappointed!
I spent about 5 to 6 hours installing 2 JL audio 6 1/2 with seperate tweeters in my door and I put these 2 6x9 JLs in the rear deck. I have an alpine head unit that is in the shop right now so I'm currantly using my stock cd player in my 2000 monte carlo and they just sound so clean and clear and they hit really hard for not having any sort of amp hooked up!
I would for sure recomend them to anybody! They sound so good!
installed in the front doors of my Tacoma and they sound great! Factory head unit is all i have but the sound quality is so much better
Just installed these speakers in the rear deck of a 2007 Accord EX sedan. They dropped right in and installation took about 15 minutes. The speakers are hooked up the factory head unit.
The sound is great, in this setup they really put out clean, punchy bass and high frequencies compared to factory speakers (and the Polk audio speakers I had installed in a 1998 Civic). Best sounding 6x9's I've heard. I listen to hard rock at fairly loud levels, and I detect no sense of strain at high volume. Can't wait to hook up a sub and multichannel amplification.
Only negative is that the surrounds are foam, not butyl rubber. This was not noted in the CF website or catelog. Not sure if this is a big deal as the much morfe exopensive JL Audio subwoofers have foam surrounds. A second slight "issue" is that they are more efficient than the factory speakers so the balance had to be tilted towards the front. Not sure if this will put strain on the front factory speakers. Clearly this is not a negative towards the JL Audio, and one that will be eliminated when I replace my front speakers.
Everything you expect from high quality speakers, even though these are JL's entry level speakers! bass response is great as with the mids and highs. Put these in a car i sold to my brother.... should have taken them out. JL has yet to let me down

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: This will be perfectly fine as the speakers are rated from 10-60 watts RMS and the amp you have offers 75 watts RMS. Overpowering the speakers a touch is a good thing. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Dec 06, 2014 ] Staff
