ECD-T1780DV has a motorized 7" TFT wide screen display with touch panel
controls. The screen has a resolution of 1440 x 234 and 336,960 total pixels.
Detachable Control Panel:
To prevent theft, the control button section can be detached with a release key. A
hard plastic control panel case is supplied for storing the detached panel.
Touch Panel
Controls: This unit has
touch panel controls with interactive video graphics, making menu navigation
easy.
Adjustable Display
Angle/Position: You
can adjust the display's angle for better visibility, plus you can slide the
monitor forward or backward to avoid dashboard obstructions. The
display angle can be adjusted to one of 21
positions, and the forward position can be set to one of four positions. The
angle and position adjustments are memorized, and the monitor will return to the
same settings the next time it is opened.
Self-Contained
Unit: The ECD-T1780DV
contains all the components, inputs and outputs, and motorized retractable
monitor in a single DIN-sized unit. There is no hideaway box.
Dimmer Feature:
When the orange/white illumination wire of this unit
receives power (i.e. when you turn the vehicle's lights on), the display will
dim to a preset level.
Front Panel Display:
In addition to the 7" touch-panel monitor, the ECD-T1780DV has a front panel display which
can be used when the monitor is retracted. The display provides you with all information relative to
the source in use, such as radio station
frequency, source name, volume setting, or clock display.
Screen Modes: The display has 4
screen modes: Normal (for 4:3 sources), Full (for 16:9 sources), Wide and
Cinema.
Picture Settings: You can
choose from 4 picture settings: Standard, Dynamic, Cinema, and Custom. Depending
upon the source, you can adjust the dimmer, brightness, contrast and color if
the Custom setting is selected.
7-Band
Graphic EQ: This
unit has a built-in 7-band graphic equalizer with 4 EQ presets (Flat, Pops,
Rock, and Jazz). Each band can be adjusted +/- 6dB at the following center
frequencies: 62Hz, 157Hz, 396Hz, 1kHz, 2.51kHz, 6.34kHz, and 16kHz, and stored
in any of the 3 custom EQ memories.
MP3/JPEG Playback: This
unit can play MP3 and JPEG photo files recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1 or Level 2,
Juliet or Romeo formats, or on recordable DVD in UDF Bridge (combined UDF and
ISO 9660) format. Each disc can have up to 256 folders (albums), and no more
than 1000 total files and folders per disc.
Dual-Zone Capability: The
ECD-T1780DV's dual zone capability allows rear seat passengers to enjoy a
separate audio/video program on an optional rear monitor screen, while the front
seat passengers enjoy a completely separate source. When the 2-Zone function is
on, rear passengers can enjoy the DVD or Aux 1, 2, or 3.
Rear View Camera Compatible:
You can connect a rear view camera to the unit's Aux 3 video input. When the
vehicle is shifted into reverse gear, the video from the rear view camera will
automatically appear on the screen. The purple/white wire in the supplied
harness must be spliced into the vehicle's backup lamp circuit in order for this
to occur automatically. You can also view the video from the rear view camera at
any time by selecting the source in the menu.
Inputs
and Outputs Notes
Auxiliary Inputs: The
ECD-T1780DV has three auxiliary inputs:
- Aux 1: Aux 1 is a 3.5mm
minijack audio/video input on the front panel for connecting a camcorder or
portable MP3 player. Note: You must use the supplied A/V cable
adapter when you connect an audio only device.
- Aux 2: Aux 2 is an
audio/video input with RCA composite video and stereo audio jacks for
connecting a VCR or video game console. This input is on a 6" pigtail
connected to the rear panel.
- Aux 3: Aux 3 is a video
only input with an RCA composite jack for connecting a rear view camera.
This input is on a 12" pigtail.
Rear Monitor Output: One set of
A/V jacks (RCA composite video/stereo audio) is provided to output audio and
video to an external monitor. This output is on a 9" pigtail.
Subwoofer Output: A mono
subwoofer preamp output is provided on a 10" pigtail on the rear panel. The
output has a dual RCA jack, however, the audio is mono. You can manually adjust
the subwoofer output in the audio menu.
Reverse Gear/Parking Brake
Detection: The unit's main power harness contains a purple/white wire which
should be spliced into the vehicle's backup lamp circuit to determine when the
vehicle is shifted into reverse gear. When power is supplied to this wire, the
video from a rear view camera (connected to the Aux 3 input) is shown on the
monitor. There is also a light green wire in this harness that should be spliced
into the parking brake lamp circuit. The monitor will not display video unless
this wire is connected to the parking brake circuit (to the "ground" side) and
the parking brake is engaged. This is a safety feature to prevent video from
being visible to the driver when the vehicle is moving.
Optical Digital Output: The
ECD-T1780 is equipped with a proprietary round optical digital connector, for
connecting the unit to a Dolby Digital surround processor.
