Overview

Our take on the Scosche boomBOTTLE H2O

Here's one portable Bluetooth speaker that's not afraid of the water. Or the sand, or the mud, or the snow. The Scosche boomBOTTLE H2O is so watertight, it actually floats. And because it's tightly sealed, it's also dust-proof – ideal for the beach.

…and it floats

Here's one portable Bluetooth speaker that's not afraid of the water. Or the sand, or the mud, or the snow. The Scosche boomBOTTLE H2O is so watertight, it actually floats. And because it's tightly sealed, it's also dust-proof – ideal for the beach.

boomBOTTLE H2O Not only is the boomBOTTLE H2O waterproof, but it floats, making it easy to retrieve.

360° sound

While the boomBOTTLE H2O might be sealed against the elements, it doesn't hold back when it comes to sound. The up-firing mono speaker delivers rich, clear sound, with a passive bass radiator to ensure you get plenty of low tones. And the music radiates out in a 360° soundfield, so everyone gets to enjoy the music.

Good to go

The boomBOTTLE H2O is shaped like a small can, so it conveniently fits in any cupholder — be it your boat, car, folding chair, or bike frame. No cupholder handy? Use the included carabiner and clip it to your belt loop. The carabiner anchor on the boomBOTTLE H2O is reinforced so you don't have to worry about it snapping off.

Convenient charging

The built-in battery lasts for up to eight hours of continuous use. Its USB charging cable can either be connected to its AC power adapter, or plugged directly into your computer for easy charging.

Great sound even at loud volumes. Battery lasted all day. Neat design as well.

I have only had this speaker for a week but it is very cool. Volume is very good except around loud traffic on the way to work at the bike shop. Sound quality is good for it's size. Bluetooth linking is easy and works well during entire bike ride. Fit of the speaker is a little tight in a standard aluminum tube water bottle cage, but it fits a lot better in a composite cage. The battery seems to hold out at least 4 hours with no problem at a high volume level.

Pros: Ease of use. Sound quality and volume. Fun to use on a bike ride,

Cons: Slightly tight fit in standard bicycle water bottle cages. At high volume level may annoy other bike riders, which might be a PRO for some people.

Good sound and long battery life.

I bought this product to take to the lake so that it can go on the boat or the boat dock without fear of getting kicked in the lake. I got the bright yellow so that it will be visible if it does end up in the lake. Cool product. Good sound for the size and price. Good value for the price.... not disappointed at all- very pleased.

Pros: Waterproof - great for taking boating or fishing. Portability is great. Fits in water bottle holder on bike so good for taking cycling, Controls are simple. Sync'ed with phone quickly.

Cons: Slight distortion at full volume.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my first portable speaker, and it caught my eye being waterproof. This past weekend I took to the pool for the first time and it worked great. It paired quickly with my phone, had good volume for a portable speaker, and no problems after getting wet. Looking forward to using again and again.

Pros: Compact size, waterproof, easy operation

Cons: Bass is just okay

In addition, the BoomBottle H2O fits in most water bottle cages and cup holders.

Note: The Scosche BoomBottle H2O portable Bluetooth speaker is not designed to be submerged and played underwater.

3 places I absolutely did not expect to use the boomBOTTLE

Written by Julie Govan, Staff Writer - Creative, on 6/30/2014 11:08:00 AM

I got a chance to play with the boomBOTTLE H2O Bluetooth® over the weekend. I charged it for about half an hour, and when the charging light changed from red to blue, I figured I was ready to go. Pairing took about 30 seconds, even the first time, and then I threw it in my clothes basket and took it down to the laundry room. It was nice having something that felt sturdy enough that I could toss it into a pile of towels. Later that day, it was my sanding and painting buddy while I worked on a home improvement project. Again, I liked feeling like I could just rinse it off when it got dirty.

My kids were entranced by it when they first saw it. They each took turns holding it in the car and picking out which song to play on my iPhone. Later in the weekend, we went to the pool, which was how I was planning to use it when I first brought it home. We turned it on and got it playing, then threw it in the pool. No problems! When they found out I was bringing it back to work and didn't actually own it, there was a chorus of disappointed pleas. Something to think about for a summer full of outdoor time and kids who occasionally drop things.

The height is 4&1/2" and it's the same size as a water bottle for your bike. It only has one speaker, but it really sounds great. When I'm riding my mountain bike, I only have the volume turned up half way. I've dropped it in the water many times while on my stand up board on the lake and it never stops working. The battery life is very impressive. Hope this helps. I'd buy another one if I lost this one. [ mark  Nov 12, 2015 ]
I would say that it was probably just in a bad service area and losing service thus kicking it in and out, but not sure. I've never had that happen with mine. [ JENNIFER  Oct 19, 2015 ]
