just what I needed but want more
1996 Chevrolet Camaro
i have a 1996 z28. it has the U1T DELCO BOSE 5 speaker factory system. from the factory, this car has two amps integrated to each front full range door speaker, two NON FULL RANGE MIDBASS In the rear sear side panels, and a single 6 inch 2 ohm subwoofer in a very strange "Echobox" As Bose calls it located in the drivers rear corner. ive researched this setup for nearly 2 months and this is how the car comes. 1993-1996 cars with a single rear speaker grille on the drivers side tells you have this option. this is for camaros though. MUST use this adapter to use an aftermarket deck or you will end up trying to send amplified power to an amplifier. (since every single speaker had its own amp you must convert the output from the headunit to signal information. (line level): Crutchfield is the only site that even led me to why my deck wouldnt work even though i bought all the "correct" harnesses for the vehicle. you will get power but no sound. this interface is great but so much more isnt known about these. overall its perfect. sidenote: the rear speakers are not full range and you can add aftermarket speakers up front with no mods. the rear speakers are NOT full range and are midbass speakers only. the amps for the rear speakers and the sub are located inside the Bose echobox under the drivers rear hatch trim cover opposite the spare tire.
Pros: allows use of aftermarket head unit but keep stock system operation.
Cons: could be of better quality. took 2 months to find i needed one of these. dont forget the pink wire on the car is the bose relay power wire which turns on the amps.wish more features available.
