Good Interface

1993 Nissan Maxima
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This interface matched up nicely with my '93 Maxima's Bose system. Installation was seamless except for a problem with one Bose amplifier. Crutchfield help desk talked me through the trouble shooting drill and the problem was solved. My only squak is the smallness of the instruction sheet.

Pros: Relatively easy installation' Good quality connectors. Help desk standing by.

Cons: The Instruction Sheet really ought to be full size (8 1/2" x 11") for easier reading.

This worked great on a 1994 Maxima, allowing me to keep the existing amplified Bose speakers.

Pros: Does the job. The best part is that Crutchfield pre-attaches the correct connector for your car, so you only have to connect the radio to this and you are good to go.

Cons: A little larger than expected.

1992 Nissan Maxima
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 1992 Nissan Maxima that is still running strong. Finally bought a new stereo, after learning that I did not have to get rid of Bose Speakers (who would do that? LOL) this adapter made it possible. Great product

1994 Nissan 300ZX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very useful adapter. Adapter worked perfectly in my Nissan using my factory Bose speakers. Excellent feature of adjustable gain. Instructions were good but could have been a little clearer.

Pros: I can use factory Bose speakers. Easy installation and setup. Adjustable gain.

Cons: Instructions could be better.

Insufficient instructions for 300Zx + Bose

Written by: Justin L from Palatine, IL on October 26, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works well, just needs clearer instructions for the 300Zx + Bose system.

Pros: The adapter works just fine once you get all the wiring worked out...

Cons: The wiring guide isn't exactly right... I had to call twice to get it sorted out that the blue and blue/white wires on the vehicle side had to be connected to the blue/white on the radio side...

it works

1993 Infiniti J30
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was not sure if this would solve my problem. I did a lot of research and got conflicting
results, this device did the trick. I was able to use the Bose factory system [amp and
speakers] with the clarion reciever I bought.
Thank You Crutchfield

I hope this review helps someone else with their decision.

1991 Nissan Maxima
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Extremely helpful with the installation. Adjusting for each of my BOSE amps was as simple as described in the instructions. The only issue/problem was when I could not get any sound despite carefully following the instructions and triple-checking my car's wiring. I had to ignore the "warning" about connecting both the amp wire and the power wire. The instruction was to rely on the blue wire for both the power antenna and the amp (BOSE system). When I did that, the power antenna worked but no sound. When I connected the "amp" wire so that it would be powered by the original amp wire in my car, everything worked correctly.

It works!

1990 Nissan 300ZX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this adapter into my 300zx with the factory BOSE system. I was leary of this working based upon the other review posted. Crutchfield assured me it would work and it does. I didn't want to replace the Bose speaker system because I love the sound. Now the Bose sound even better with the new head unit and this adapter.

300zx 2+2 with Bose Speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It doesn't work!
Thank God for the Super customer service that Crutchfield provides. When my Bose head unit called it quits, I spent a lot of time doing research to get it fixed or replaced. With the huge price of having the unit fixed I decided to pay less and get more for my money. So I opted for a replacement, (Sony with bluetooth) however the Bose speakers are not compatable with non Bose head units. This adapter seemed like the answer to my prayers until I installed it. The sound was terrible, very low and muffled at normal volume, and with the volume all the way up, very distorted. I will be sending this back. In the end I found an amp that will work with Bose speakers (2 ohm vs 4 ohm). The amp will work with both ratings. It works great. When I finish the install I will have the Sony head unit with the Bose speakers with 100 watts per channel!!

  • 13 Crimp caps
  • Instruction sheet

Product Research

Compatibility: The OEA-4 (model C4NN02) is a non-electronic interface that allows an aftermarket high-power stereo to integrate into select 1989-97 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles with Bose premium factory systems. Please check the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector for compatibility for your vehicle.

Adjustment Gain Controls: Four rotary gain controls (front left, front right, rear left, rear right) are located recessed inside the adapter chassis. There is a small flat-blade screwdriver attached to the adapter's case, and its use is recommended. The controls are very fragile and sensitive, and a slight adjustment will change volume dramatically.

Harnesses: The adapter's input wires are approximately 5-1/2" long with bare ends. These splice to the new receiver's speaker output wires. The adapter's output wires are approximately 11" long and terminate into two white and yellow rectangular Molex plugs. There are 5 additional wires coming from one of the white/yellow plugs and 2 wires from the other white/yellow plug that should be spliced to the receiver's wiring harness. The Molex plug ends are molded to match with the factory wiring harnesses. Crimp caps are provided for wire splices.
