2003 Nissan Pathfinder SE
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I was very skeptical of this thing and wondered why I needed it when the head unit had ample preamp outputs. Turns out the Bose factory amp inputs are calibrated for a high-level preamp and the standard, RCA-jack, consumer-grade preamps aren't hot enough. I tried it, so I know it's true. I expected to be disappointed in the the audio quality from this thing padding down the speaker-level outputs to line level. I'm not. The stereo sounds great with zero adjustments. It just works perfectly and I'm very happy with the quality. And I know the difference. (Not that the Pathfinder's stereo system was a real high-end system to begin with, but the new stereo clearly sounds better than the factory one, even with this hack of a solution.)
Pros: * Works as advertised. * No notable audio degradation. * No need (for me) to tune the individual channel levels.
Cons: Can't think of any.
