Looks good matches dash
Pros: Matches dash
Cons: Should put a location for aftermarket mic
This was part of an install kit and did the trick. The instructions were a bit sparse, but there wasn't too much effort to make it work just fine.
The design and shape of the mounting kit kept the factory trim bezel from snapping in place. Also there is no allowance for stereos that are deeper than the factory unit. I ended up having to get a different one from a local car stereo shop
Pros: Nice pocket that holds a couple cd's
Cons: Factory trim bezel could not be secured No shim to allow for deeper stereos
Fit nicely in my Colorado Pick up dash. Looks nice. No problems getting it in.
Pros: Fits well, looks great!
Bought a used car for my daughter and the aftermarket stereo was installed by an idiot who used the wrong adaptor plate. This dash kit is a perfect fit.
Pros: Perfect fit
The dash kit I recieved from crutchfield was nearly a one piece install, compared to kit I tried installing from a big box store. A complete inst book was included, unlike the later. Ill now get my kits only on crutchfield.com. jake s.
Made install a breeze.
Install went great. Good unit. 10/10 would buy again
Pros: Fit perfect
Cons: The CD slot could be a little tighter; the CD cases fall out when turning or accelerating.
This is strictly for use in filling the blank space in the dash. Provides no support at all for the radio. Didn't quite fit the width of the opening and had to be stretched.
Pros: Filled the hole in the dash
Cons: No support whatsoever for the radio.
Fit into stock location very easily using factory fasteners. Looks clean. Nice pocket for phone or radio remote.
Pros: Easy install, nice fit
The stereo kit came broken in the delivery box. I'm not sending it back for exchange. It will b over a week till I get it back. Just money lost on this product.
Cons:Crutchfield response on March 9, 2016 Once we saw this review, our Customer Support team reached out to issue the customer a refund.
Instructions are pretty much useless. What you see is what you get. No brackets or supports for the side or rear of the radio.
very easy to use
Dash kit works flawlessly, no issues with ISO mounting the deck.
exact fit for the 04 Colorado. Extra parts included for secure mounting
Lack of instructions could be an issue with some people
I can't properly review the dash kit seeing as it arrived broken. Otherwise, I have an extra star seeing as it was shipped quickly
Perfect fix, looks great
Dash Kit fit perfectly with no issues.
Pros: Fit as designed.
Definitely needed for installation of aftermarket head unit replacing a 4 DIN with a 2 DIN head unit
Pros: Very good fit and finish
Cons: Instructions a little vague, especially around certain spacers required in specific applications.
fits perfect, looks factory
Fit... Will work but was a little off, aftermarket is aftermarket ! Not bad for the price though.
Didn't fit exact, flimsy plastic, inset too far into dash... Overall you get what you pay for and for the money it's sufficient...
Fits good, looks nice.
Good finished look, no problems after 2 weeks. Simple to install once process was clarified.
Pros: Good fit to dash and stereo. Provides a small amount of additional space under stereo.
Cons: Instructions are poor. Require call to Crutchfield. Parts are included that (1) are not used, and (2) are not pictured. The method of supporting the weight of the stereo is not as secure as the OEM installation.
This part works perfectly as advertised. I would recommend to anyone.
Pros: Fits great. Looks good.
Pros: Perfect fit no modification required
Pros: Easy install
In the end we got this dash kit to work but there were several things that were very frustrating about it. 1) The instructions were not helpful. There were parts in the package that we had no idea how to use or if they were necessary. 2) After a very long time of trying to figure out how to get the stereo in the kit, it kept falling out. The only thing keeping the stereo in was the flimsy face plate. The stereo hovered above the bottom of the kit so any jarring would make the stereo fall out of the kit. I ended up taking apart a wooden clothespin and using the two halves as shims to stabilize the back of the stereo, then using epoxy to glue the clothespins in place. This kept the stereo secure in the kit so the face plate would fall off when jarred.
Pros: It is better than having to build your own. :-)
Cons: Poor instructions and not workable as a stand-alone kit. You need to use creativity (see above) to get the stereo to stay in the kit.
A little cheap, but works fine. back support didn't fit my 2005 Chevy cavalier
Cons: Not a perfect fit for some vehicles.
Functionally it works great. Looks great too. Only problem was instructions were terrible. I got it installed ok though.
Pros: Looks great and the little pocket is VERY handy
Cons: The instructions could have been a whole bunch more clearer
Couldn't ask anything more from a simple dash kit
This mount is very cheap in quality. Yes it does fit, and it will work. I am worried though that it will break every time I hit a bump on the road. The instructions that come with this kit are very unhelpful. Anybody who gets this without prior experience will most likely have to call in to Crutchfield for help.
Cons: Poor instructions. Poor quality.
Fits great, seems to be a little stronger than the ones they made previous years.
Just simple to install with no modification to vehicle or this part. Install radio mounting bezel and install.
Pros: - simple & clean
Cons: - pock is deep not tall so hard to get things out of the back
Worked and fitted perfectly, good price, instructions good
Spent the money to buy the kit and when my husband was installing the new stereo, a major component was missing from this kit. Since he was past the point of no return, he had to rig something up. I wasted my money.
Cons: Not all the parts needed were there.Crutchfield response on June 23, 2015 Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, especially a situation like this, please contact our tech support teams right away. They can help you solve the problem and get the stereo installed and working! Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Instillation on 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic. Screw holes did not line up, however, they were close and a slight modification allows good fit. Install in Malibu without using spacers.
Cons: Small modification needed, not as aesthetically pleasing as some other installation kits.
Made the install a perfect fit.
Fits nicely in my 2004 Pontiac Montana and looks good and fits nicely with out modifying and love the cubby.
Pros: Fits very nicely and looks good.
This works fine, but I wouldn't call it great. The plastic is pretty flimsy and the fit, especially the screw holes were not exactly right. The rear support was entirely wrong (the unit is not deep enough -- the support pin doesn't come even close to reaching the socket in the dash). It wasn't too hard to customize it enough to fit correctly, but it was still pretty flimsy and rattled a bit. I added some steel brackets to hold the stereo more securely and this tightened everything up nicely. On the plus side it looks great! Other than the fact that the stereo is obviously not GM, it fits completely seamlessly into the dash.
Pros: Looks good, fit is good where it matters most
Cons: Flimsy. Fit is not perfect, and completely wrong in the rear of the unit.
Fit 2006 Silverado perfectly. Looks like it belongs there.
Pros: Fast Arrival; Perfect Fit; Easy Install
Cons: None to speak of
Worked ok, kind of cheap looking. Had to mod to get radio to stay steady
Pros: Easy to put in
Cons: Cheap plastic and needs to mod to fit radio
Works awesome and i like the little extra cubby hole at the bottom. Makes a little extra storage room
Pros: Fits great, extra storage, radio fits snug
This is a good dash module, but it desperately needs a better set of instructions. I had to figure out by trial and error that you have to remove the front trim piece from both the radio and this kit, then slide the radio in from the front, and then re-attach the kit's trim piece. The radio's trim ring is discarded. The owner's manual also didn't properly explain whether or not a given vehicle needs the additional spacer pieces.
Cons: Very bad instructions.
Pros: Look like its meant to be there
Cons: Cheap thin plastic
Comes with risers which helped tighten everything up nicely
Works and fits well. The installation was awkward, and there are extra pieces (at least for my vehicle) that the instructions are very ambiguous about.
Pros: Looks good, fits well
Cons: Weird instructions, extra pieces with no explanation.
Works! Clean install in my vehicle. Directions not quite clear, but had it in in no time.
Pros: Quick, easy, complete.
Cons: Pictures in directions left a little to the imagination when installing.
I've never used one of these because I've always bought the correct size head unit. I wasn't going to pay $300+ to put a double-din in my old 97 Olds (commuter car). This thing makes the installation look way better than I expected. Plus, it has a little bit of storage below the unit.
Great fit and finish as expected
Does not quit fit as nice as other kits I've ordered. Right side bolt holes didn't line up.
Cons: doesnt fit as nice as I would've liked
it perfect, looks good, i like the storage area
Pros: i like the storage area
Cons: no complaints at all
Easy enough to install and looks good. Could always be better.
Pros: Works. Looks good and its nice to have the optional collar.
Cons: The pocket is small enough that I can't quite fit my hand in it so small items get caught in the back. It doesn't fit the car seamlessly.
Fits 2003 Malibu perfectly!
It didn't fit completely. It installed, but the separator between the receiver and the empty slot isn't exactly straight, so a little bit of the metal frame around the receiver shows. I only paid a small amount, so I can't really complain, but that's why I gave it 2 stars.
Pros: Cheap.. it fit in the double din slot..
Cons: catches my removable receiver face. Have to wiggle the face to get past the kit..
Made the installation look like a pro put it in!
Could Abe do better in dash, Corner Radii to sharp. Great product easy to assemble
Pros: Product as described, easy install
Cons: Corner rounds could have been larger to match dash panel, but understand due to multi car setup
Perfect fit and makes installing your receiver a snap
Pros: Good price for a good product
Worked well with no issues.
Made install simple and it gives the dash a clean look
Fit my 07 Trailblazer just fine, easy to install from start to finish in under an hour
Pros: great look
Cons: extra space small but for mp3 player just fine
Easy to install and works as advertised. Highly recommend
Pros: Very easy to install and works as advertised
Really makes the install assembly easy. Fit perfectly in 2002 Century. Did not have to modify anything. The dashboard disassemble instructions are real helpful.
Pros: Simplifies the install, no mods needed.
Cons: Instructions were a bit unclear at times regarding the use of spacers and other hardware which really didn't need.
Piece of Cake. This unit made the installation process a snap. All the accessories provided by Crutchfield make the install easy. Be sure to check the whole box before you think you are missing something.
The back of the recover kit is not deep enough to reach the hole on bracket inside the cavity, this rest support to the unit on the back bar, thankfully my new pioneer is not heavy, the front screws that connects the kit is sufficient, but if you have a heavier radio you may need a back support.
Pros: Easy to install.
Cons: Doesn't reach the bar on the back of the radio cavity for support the weight of the radio.
Pros: It fits -- sort of. And it was cheap.
Cons: Biggest complaints: (1) instructions totally stink. Had almost nothing whatsoever to do with the actual process of installing the thing. (2) Didn't fit my vehicle, and now the receiver sags in the dash. I'll have to uninstall and reinstall (which is a pain) with some kind of custom mod, or find a better kit somewhere. GRRRRR.Crutchfield response on August 4, 2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Not as nice as the kit I got from Crutchfield 10+ years ago
Pros: It fits with a little work.
Cons: Kind of thin plastic. Not all tabs, slots, buttons fit exactly where they should. The little tray below the unit is too small to even get your fingers in. I placed the remote for the new radio in there and now I have to find something to use to get it out.
Worked perfectly with my radio and looks good in my car
Pros: This worked great in my car with my new radio
Installed with a DIN size Clarion deck in a 1996 Regal. Has a clean look but the slot/pocket is a little bowed. I folded up the directions and taped them over the pocket area so that the deck sits on them, spaces nicely, and doesn't bounce around. The trim piece to go around the deck didn't fit my application but it looks fine without it.
Pros: clean look, nice deep pocket for storage
Cons: line of plastic at top of pocket is bowed a bit so doesn't look perfect but not bad
Had great fast service.
Didn't fit perfectly and no clear instructions
I installed this kit in a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer and it looks GREAT! Instructions and Installation were simple and a breeze to follow. The kit is perfectly flush with my factory dash cluster and worked perfectly with the single DIN head unit I choose. JVC-X80BT. This dash kit is simple to install and great to modify to fit whatever needs you may have like routing an AUX cord into the little pocket for easy access.
Pros: This kit offers all the hardware you need for installation and looks great with the provided faceplate. You can modify this product all you want for anything you need access to OR make more stable for security purposes.
Cons: Absolutely NONE!
I bought this to install a deck into my wife's car for mothers day. The item was broken in half when it arrived so I had to go the the local stereo store to purchase a second one to get it installed in time. Luckily it was only $9 and I saved more then that on the installation package Crutchfield offered. Flimsy product and poor quality control on the part of Crutchfield. If I could tell it was broken immediately when I pulled the package out of the shipping box the person who packed it should've caught it and sent a non broken one.
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Poor quality Arrived broken
Great add-on for a professional looking install.
Cons: Missing a way to fully secure the with screws head unit in a 2003 Chevy Blazer.
great fast shipping
Pros: factory type fit
easy to install, perfect fit....
Pros: i like the extra compartment, great to store CD's or phone..
Perfect fit. Instal was quick.
Cons: Seems like cheap plastic. May be easy to pop out your radio and steal it with out much effort.
Super easy instal and looks great
Pros: Easy to instal looks great in my dash
this looks great in my dash almost looks as if it was a factory-installed I couldn't be more happier with the product and customer service from Crutchfield.
Pros: perfect insulation
Made the install of my single din stereo into a dbl din hole easy and it made it look almost factory.
Pros: Simple and easy to use also creates a little extra storage in the car.
The product assembled and worked well, as advertised.
Pros: It fits the stereo and the car like a charm
Cons: The cubbyhole/shelf under the stereo is so shallow that I can't even fit my hand in there. If I were to drop something into that slot, I fear that I would not be able to pull it out without the help of some object or another person with very small hands.
It is what it is and does what it does
Pros: makes install fast and easy
This makes the installation process so much easier. Some slight modifications needed to get a better fit, but nothing major.
Pros: The only way to install an aftermarket stereo!
Cons: I had to modify it a little to get a tighter fit, but you should expect some of that.
On the left side the bracket was cracked and wouldn't hold the stereo, I used some JB weld and left it over night and it fit just fine.
Pros: Fit dash
Cons: Came broken
The kit itself was reasonably priced. Installation was easy and hassle free. The sleeve for the receiver went in nicely and was secure. The only thing I didn't really like was that at the back of the CD storage pocket were four openings, two on either side, top and bottom. I had to inform my wife not to put anything small in this pocket unless she wanted those things to fall through the holes in the back of the pocket into the dash. Bezel around stereo wasn't a snug fit and doesn't take much to pull it off or come loose. Other than that, I am happy with the kit and so is my wife.
Pros: Economical, easy to install
Cons: Holes in back of CD pocket making it possible for small items to fall through into dash cavity. Bezel that goes around receiver face is a loose fit.
the overall look and feel fits into the dashboard well. The quality seems to be decent.
Pros: looks good in the dash, fits well
Cons: did not come with the parts to support the back of the stereo, in fact the parts shown in the docs did not match what I received. I ended up making my own support piece for the rear of my stereo using my own hardware.
looks like my truck came with this stereo
Pros: looks nice, fits perfectly
Came broken didn't realize this until after Christmas, a month after purchase, had the old radio out and the dash removed before figuring it out. Epoxy glued it and hopefully it will hold. Rear support was much too short to actually support rear of radio, had to alter it to make it be of any help.
Pros: Radio fit well
Cons: Came broken and rear support was of no use
nice adapter, the small pocket below the radio is helpful
Looks as good as factory set up. Would reccommend product to anyone
simple, fits perfect no issues
Had to modify to get it to mount correctly. but fairly easy install
A very functional piece of equipment that works well/is compatible with the radio I purchased. However it does feel and look cheap as well: one of the spacer pieces was broken when I received it and it broke some more when I attempted to install it: the pegs are TOO fragile.
Pros: Easy to use. Functional.
Cons: Cheap build and can break easy during shipping/installation.
Looks amazing and is built very solid. My radio is flush mounted rather than sticking out an inch as the cheap store kits make the stereo do.
Pros: Good looking. Solid. Easy to install.
Cons: Directions didn't suggest using the plastic spacers for my model, but I figured out that it made the unit fit better so I chose to use them.
I used the Scosche GM1583B indash receiver kit to install a single-height CD player in my 2004 Chevy Classic (Malibu). The installation was quite simple, using the metal slide-in shell that is common with the Crutchfield units. The only minor item that I think could improve the assembly would be the addition of some kind of shim or molded "stilt" which would hold the back of the CD player up slightly above the plastic slot below it that forms the bottom half of the whole assembly. Without a shim, pad, or stilt, the radio leans back a little (since it's cantilevered) and causes the face to stick out at the bottom maybe 2 mm. I made my own soft shim using a small piece of cloth and some packing tape, and I used a piece of tape sticky side out to hold it in place. It enforces a gap of ~0.2 inches or so between the bottom of the CD player and the plastic recess pocket below it in the assembly. This worked out well, but I don't see why the assembly can't accommodate this. This dropped my rating from 5 stars to 4. The finished look on this product is excellent. I've done a Crutchfield kit in several different vehicles and find that on the 2004 Chevy Classic (Malibu) it looks like a factory fit. I am very satisfied with it.
Pros: Excellent fit. Factory look. Easy install.
Cons: Could use a built-in shim or pad or stilt to keep the radio from cantilevering back somewhat when it's been slid into the sleeve in the mount.
Installation was easy enough. Only problem is that the instructions were seriously vague. Had to use some logic to figure out how the brackets fit onto the radio and the frame.
Pros: perfect fit. looks nice after install
Cons: vague instructions, very short screws
Perfect look, no cutting or destroying dash
Fits super nice and looks great.
Pros: Looks super sharp
Cons: Can't fit my hand all the way back in the cd storage.
When I handled this hard plastic receiver holder it snapped immediately as I dry fit the receiver in it before installation. Fortunately, the previous holder accepted my new receiver.
Purchased radio and this was a second dash mount kit sent. This one has a lower pocket, and the trim fit perfectly. Prior none pocket dash mount trim piece would not fit my vehicle. Love it.
Pros: easy install and fits great.
Cons: pocket is not sloped or edged, so item like paper, slide right out if medium brakes are applied. Will just put a piece of non- slip pad in there for fix.
This was not my first perches from Crutchfield, as I have come to learn, if your buying a radio for your car this is the place to do it. They emailed me a link of instructions complete with actual photos of my dash and explained in step by step hoe to take my dash od and istall my radio so that everything that worked on my factory radio would work with the radio I bought from them. and there LIVE over the phone support made this prodject a happen. I would not buy a radio anywhere else, as the whole support team does their job.
Pros: support for the products they sell, customer satisfaction, exellent products
Pros: It fit perfectly
Cons: The item arrived broken and they shipped a new one to me for free
Pros: fits well blends in well with my dash has a storage place - dont sit your phone in there or it will fall out
After using Crutchfields Master Sheet instructions, install was very easy and it fit right into the dash of my GMC 2008 Envoy with no modifications to anything.
Pros: Works great, looks good. Does the job.
Great fit. Like the storage tray. Works great for my iPhone.
An easy find. One two three install.
Pros: Time saver, extra storage.
This is not a very impressive piece of equipment. The first one shipped to my was broken up on arrival, which really isnt surprising when you inspect the quality. You can buy this just about anywhere. I didnt check to see if they have other kits like this here. I've seen different dash kits that fit my application on other sites.
Pros: Cheap, works.
Probably One of the best In-dash kits ever. Well drop the probably, IT IS THE BEST I've ever had. I usually just grab one from the local big box store but this time I decided to Take a chance and the result was excellent. I will definitely be spending my money with Crutchfield!! Thanks Crutchfield Team!!
I've used two of these from Crutchfield in different vehicle models and both fit as they should and looked good in the dash with the radio mounted. Easy install. No brainer.
Pros: Does what it's supposed to and looks OEM in the dash.
This holds the stereo in my dash, but it is flimsy and doesn't seem to be a perfect fit. I would consider getting a double din type head unit instead of using this. It is good enough and it was inexpensive.
Pros: inexpensive, good enough
Fit perfectly into the space left by the factory radio. Looks pretty seamless.
Fit is Very Good inmy 2002 Caviler
Pros: Comes with very good insructions
Cons: Iower cuby hole is very small.
Doesnt fit the 2005 envoy very well, spacers are incorrect, no directions
Product fit well and met my demands. It was broken on the left mount piece but a little super glue fixed that up nice. Looks great in my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am
Pros: Fit great great look Clean finish
Cons: Came broken
Perfect fit for my 03 S10. Installation instructions showed to use the included spacers. I found the fit to be much better without them.
It's just a simple molded adapter. But it works and fits perfectly.
All the spacers where not with the kit had to make my own
Easy to use with ease, looked great, just like factory
fit perfectly in my daughters 2002 sunfire
Husband installed and the installation went well. Loved that it came with the receiver and I didn't have to worry about getting the wrong one. However, it came broken. The frame is quite thin and plastic. Once it's in, no problem and it's definitely strong enough with the structure of the dash, but annoying that it was broken. I'm sure Crutchfield would have replaced-- they are GREAT-- but we needed to install quickly for daughter's big birthday, and couldn't wait for replacement. Husband read up about repairing plastic with paper and super glue, and that worked great. Again, once it's in, no problem.
Pros: fits car perfectly, looks good once installed
Cons: fragile before installed
Very poor quality. It fit fine once installed, but was broke the second I first slid the head unit into it. I had to glue it back together and then make brackets to make it sturdy enough.
This was the most disappointing part of the installation process. The first one I ordered came broken in many pieces, a tribute to it's quality. The installation instructions are very vague, and do not include the proper means to remove the pocket from the upper carriage, which you may have to do for certain installations. There is also no means of keeping the radio supported above the pocket, without home modifications, to prevent the unit from rattling.
Pros: Cheap price
Cons: Poor plastic product
This kit allowed me to easily install a 1 DIN reciever in the space of a 2 DIN factory receiver a 1999 LeSabre, with no modification to the kit or the dash. The fit is not perfect but close enough for my needs. It would be nice if a gaskit was offered as an accessory or supplied with the kit to finish the fit. The pocket in the empty space left by going with a 1 DIN unit is a plus, couldn't find it on other site, most mount kits I found just had a plastic plate in that area. A fit tray or rubberized fitted mat would be a nice accessory for this product, as my mp3 player kept sliding out of the pocket everytime I excelerated, until I put the mp3 player in a rubberized skin.
Pros: Came free as part of the receiver purchase, Ease of install. Fit, Storage Pocket.
Cons: Lack of accessory tray or rubber mat for the pocket, and a gasket for the fit of the face plate. Niether is a big deal.
This bracket did not fit 100% in my car, but it was pretty close. I was able to make the bracket work, but the stereo is not absolutely secure, but it's good enough for me. The front facing screw in the right side that connects the harness to the dash did not line up, but the left one was perfect.
Pros: Fits pretty well
Cons: Doesn't fit perfectly
This worked out ok after a few mods. 1. The 4 front corners had to be filed to a round shape to fit the instrument panel trim back in place and sit flush against the dashboard in a 2003 Park Ave install. 2. Also the radio a Kenwood single din required some mods to secure it from moving in the Receiver Kit. It required a few screws and a set of wood wedges held in place with tape to make the radio not move when inserting or removing a USB/AUX plug.
Cons: It would be nice if it held the radio more securely.
Easy to use and mount. Looks great with the radio I bought, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X696, and blends nicely with the dash contours.
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: Instructions not real clear on removing the case retainer/trim ring.
This mounting bracket worked perfectly with the single DIN JVC car stereo I purchased for my 2002 Chevy Cavalier.
Pros: Perfect fit; not complicated
I was skeptical of replacing a OEM double DIN radio with a single DIN radio. It worked better than my expectations and added an additional pocket for the vehicle.
Pros: Easy of use and fit.
This is a standard one adapter fits all radios and it is better than having no adapter.
Pros: I had no problems installing the radio into the dash board adapter.
Cons: I wonder how you are supposed to attach the radio support to the radio align it to mate with the hole in the dash.
Decent enough construction for the price. Fit flush with a factory look in a 2001 Alero, after just a little trimming of the upper corners.
Unit mounted to car great, but got nothing to mount the radio, besides the radios mounting sleeve.I mounted the radio by using electrical tape to first, tape flat rubber blocks to support the back side of the radio,to the kit. Then ,use multiple layers of tape to mount the radio. This turned out to be a very solid mount.Be careful not to cover any more ventilation holes than you have to if you do it this way.Radio manufacturers should figure out a standard way to mount aftermarket radios.
Pros: It was free with the radio
Cons: You are on your own mounting radio to this kit.Face trim will most likely fall off in time.
worked in my 02 chevy blazer with a kenwood no triming need.
Pros: easy install. has a bottom storage that hold two cd jewel cases and wont let them slide. and enough room on the side for my remote. about !3/4 in so messure your remote if you wanta do the same. i had a double Din and wanted to go to a single and it worked. no triming need on my dash like i was warrned by crutchfield.
Cons: nothing i cant live with. the face plate has a small gap but very had to notice. i only saw it when i was installing because it was 4 inchs from my face. when your driving you cant see it.
This kit did what it was to do but it barely fit and had to trim the opening in the dash just a little.
Cons: Made a little cheap and barely fit.
The In Dash Kit was a perfect fit and an excellent solution for filling the non-standard size radio opening of the original stock unit! The kit makes the installation look like an original factory installation!
Pros: Fit, Finish, and a perfect solution to resolve a non-standard radio replacement.
After the success i had with the dash kit for my Hyundai Elantra through Crutchfield, my sister in-law wanted to see if we could have similar success with her car. After ordering and installing it, I feel that's a resounding "YES" we bought her a head unit for her birthday separately from Crutchfield, but even at the price we got this and the wiring harness for, I still feel it was a bargain. (best buy can't compete!) We had the choice of using the stereo bezel or the mount that came with it, and we wound up going with the mount. it just looked more pro!
Pros: installation was super-easy! stereo and the pocket look like stock installation! with the dash instructions that came from crutchfield it was great to be able to take apart the dash as it was intended and glue plastic and fix mistakes made by previous "installers" (the ghetto trash who owned the car before, who tore apart the dash like rabid monkeys!)
Cons: wish it had more rounded edges for an even better effect, but this is minor, it still looks pro!
Installed in 01 Cavalier. The top of this kit is a little tight to the receiver, any smaller and my faceplate would not have fit. It worked perfectly for me but I suppose others may have a different experience.
Pros: Worked well with 01 Chevy Cavalier.
Cons: Tight fit for top corners of receiver/faceplate, may vary between vehicle models.
It worked OK. I had to bend the tabs to get it to hold the receiver snugly. It is of a real flimsy build as well, I was hoping for something more stout. I did like the fact that it came with a spacer for between the dash and the receiver kit. This made it so I could install a longer receiver into the smaller space of the dash in a 2002 Cavalier. Cruthfield said the receiver probably would not fit, but with the receiver kit and the spacer provided I had no problems.
Pros: Worked, was able to install a longer receiver despite the short dash space with the spacer provided in the kit.
Cons: REALLLLY flimsy and shoddy build. If it was more stout I would have given it a 5 star.
Works perfect in my 2001 Pontiac Sunfire GT. Fits my head unit nice and makes the install look very nice. Very seamless fit behind my trim.
Pros: Good fit. Looks nice. Additional storage space. Secures new head unit nicely.
Add about 1/2" or so between head unit and adapter. you will be set. Adapter allows head unit to sag.
Poor packaging. Even though it was a "throw in", I still had to buy one from the installer.
install instructions are real vague they dont really tell you much and they leave you guessing, never could figure how to attach the box to the dash so i ended up doing a terrible job,its in but not totally secured to the inside of the dash as the hardware they give you doesnt seem to fit my dash
Good fit except had to cut out top back of radio opening with a roto-zip in order for my Pioneer head unit to fit (not enough depth). Other than that the kit looks awesome!
instructions that came with kit were useless..had to play around a liitte to get it to fit. Looks good in dash when finished.
Perfect fit for a S10 Blazer.
This was not even close to fitting in my 96 Aurora. I had to do a lot of customizing to make it work. That said........ I think most mounting kits that would fit multiple cars would need the same thing on this car.
This install unit allowed a quality finished look to the installation of my head unit in my 2003 Trailblazer. This was not the standard kit Crutchfield recommended for my vehicle but I requested one that would allow a recessed shelf area below my stereo as opposed to just a 'blank' face piece. The support tech searched his data base and found this for me. I could not be more pleased. It went in easily and looks great. Thanks Crutchfield!
I have a 2003 GMC Sierra; I had to call back after noticing that the mounting kit was not in my initial shipment. After speaking with a rep. he told me he would take care of that and send me a mounting kit. He guided me online to look at the mounting kit, but after a closer look the website stated that this mounting kit did not fit my truck. I received the mounting kit and what do you know it fits the truck perfectly and the plastic seems sturdy and looks like it will handle vibration well. However, the receiver I purchased (Dual XHD7714) has a flip down face in order to access the CD. The problem is that the trim that the mounting kit comes with does not allow the face to flip all the way down therefore not allowing access to insert a CD. I figured that Cruchfield would have the mounting kits and receivers paired up so that these types of issues would not come up. I will have to make my own modification in order to allow the face to flip out completely. I would not recommend this product.
this item fits??? Highly doubtful....the only thing I was able use in this adabtor kit was a few screws...ended up using most of the old face plate and mounting blocks...fabercating my own facia/adabtor plate out plexiglass...the instructions that came with it were not very informative... they were VERY genaric and pictures that came with it were not very clear , didn't seem to match the application, way to dark and grainy to be of much assistance. when I call the tech servise for Crutchfield they insisted that they would work....there was NO WAY the adaptor kit going to work...simply put, it wouldn't reach to the old mounting block or the dash panel to attach to anything significant.

You will need this to make a 2 DIN stereo fit in a 4 DIN hole. From what other users have said, it looks like a factory part to fill the hole. I plan on modifying the kit to have the compartment on the bottom to mount on the top over the stereo so that I can mount my Garmin over the stereo as I am doing now with my factory stereo. Will require some fab work but is a good starting point. [ w Mar 26, 2016 ]
