NO GOOD

Written By Travis, Durham NC on Monday, February 20, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

CANNOT BE USED ON HHRS. was advised by Crutchfield specialsts to purchase this for my 2006 chevy hhr. it did not fit what so ever, i made them aware of the issue but they still continue to try to sell/give it away. the top of this unit is square. HHR radio hole is rounded on the corners. the square block doesnt fit in the circle hole LOL But Crutchfield was great in dealing with the issue, If you drive and HHR, get the metra kit, it's MUCH better quality. Thankfully crutchfield did reimburse me for the one i bought. Before i even put the surround back on, i noticed there was going to be a gap between the radio and AC controls... Just dont buy this thing regardless of what u drive its cheap, ugly, and texture doesnt match any GM products dashboard that ive every been in

Thanks for your review. We took a look at the Metra kit and agree that it's a better fit. We will be offering it instead.

Worked and was free... ;]

Not the best quality, could have been a little bit more stronger than just clip on parts... worked so I can't complain too much!

Universal Kit

Written By Jeff, Merrillville IN on Thursday, August 19, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice universal kit! I used it for my double din stereo install. It came with enough parts to add to my single din Envoy stereo, nice storage compartment. It could use some simple instructions to speed up the installation, It only comes with some pictures. I guess if you're going to do your own install, they think you can figure it out.

Most car steoros come with a "rear centering pin" that screws into the rear of your stereo. Aftermarket stereos don't include this. You need to remove it from the stock radio and put in your aftermarket stereo (hole is provided). This will ruduce the "bounce" mentioned above. This kit worked great in my Impala install.

08 Savana Van

Written By Jackal483, Little Egg Harbor Twp, NJ on Tuesday, September 22, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've always been a fan for Scosche products. I have installed many stereo's in vehicles and their products always came through. This GM1598B install kit I purchased through Crutchfield made this install of a dvd player very easy. It aloud me to adjust the unit foward so there is room for the face plate to fold down. You also have to be smarter than what you are working with. The local big box store could not locate the right kit for this van. Their know it all tech sold me all the wrong items and assumed it would work. I saved $50.00 buying from Crutchfield and everything fell into play.

Also no for 2009 Chevy Traverse!

Written By Trevor, St. Louis on Sunday, August 30, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Every single low review on here is 100% accurate. The sides once attached
still allow the weight of any double sized unit to move freely up and down. I
got this with the Alpine iva-w505 and the fold up display gets caught and
never shuts correctly. Also as stated there is a gap. The QC on this product
needs tweaking. Crutchfield should look elswhere for a supplier that fits
better. Thanks for the replys about the Metra kit. I will see if I can find that.

GM/Chevrolet In-dash Receiver Kit

Written By Chris, WPB, FL on Saturday, July 11, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I agree with Wesley. This product doesnt fit my 2009 Suburban. I purchased a Metra aftermarket kit and works perfect. The unit is locked in tight and I have had no problems with the monitor getting caught up when I eject a disc.

I give Crutchfield a 10 star on thier customer service and return policy. They are great. I will make future purchases.

Makes the dash look aftermarket. Used for my kenwood double din dvd. sides dont match the curve of dash. looks cheap. screen gets caught when closing. may take it out unless I can find a better dash kit.

Its okay...

Written By Jason, Modesto,CA on Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used this to install my Kenwood DNX-8120 double DIN unit in my 2008 Tahoe.

My issue is that the side panels that mount to the unit do not fit tight in the front frame so the right side of the unit slides down and the motorized screen on the nav can get hung up. Its easy to push up, but it gets annoying.

I've got to pull the trim and see if I can adjust the mount somehow to keep this from happening.

Not good for Enclave/Acadia/Outlook/Traverse

Written By James, Atlanta GA on Sunday, January 11, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this item for my 2008 Buick Enclave and it is very poorly made. The trim kit has 3 pieces and it is next to impossible to get the black flat side pieces (in pic above, middle right of photo) to snap onto the trim kit (in pic, bottom left of photo).

Once installed, there is a 1/8" gap between the top of the trim kit and the Enclave. It does not look "factory" and really doesn't match.
