Works like a charm. But, the instructions were Terrible. I read some reviews and actually called Crutchfield Tech Support before I even tried to install this so I could get wiring instructions from them for the new Kenwood receiver that I got. I talked to Crutchfield Tech support for all of 4 minutes and I can honestly say there would have been no way to install this otherwise. Many wires didn't get used and I would have spent hours trying to see where they went. Call Crutchfield And Ask Which Wire Goes Where And You Can Install This In About 15 Minutes. The only two cons other than the instructions are that the backup alarm doesn't start beeping until you are CLOSE to an object so backup slowly. The other con is the "end call" button on the steering wheel doesn't work. It only Mutes the call now.
Pros: Works well.
Cons: Terrible Instructions
Disappointed in this product; Extremely expensive for what you get and the results are not worth the money; I read the reviews and should have heeded the advice and warnings about the new "tones" this interface produces; This interface does indeed turn the warning tones into sounds that should be coming from a kid's toy, especially the turn signal tone, not happy with that at all; There are a TON of wires, some you need, some you don't; I had to do some major cutting to the inside of my dashboard (2008 Chevy Silverado) just to make room to be able to get the radio, steering wheel interface, warning tone module, and the wiring harness to all fit
Pros: Allows aftermarket radios to use the vehicle steering wheel controls
Cons: Extremely expensive; TONS of wires; may be a "plug and play" set up but there is definite modifications needed to get everything to fit, especially if you are going for a professional looking installation; current tone for the turn signals are ridiculous
Instructions were clear
This product is what it says it is. The problem I had was with the terrible tech support. I bought this wiring harness to match my Kenwood radio to my steering controls on my 2013 Silverado. The color coded wires did not match the new radio. I talked to Scosche's tech guy and he said it wasn't possible, blew me off, and to told me to call Kenwood. I got the same response from Kenwood. I finally called Crutchfield. I got the same treatment. I decided to call back to Crutchfield and got a tech named Allen who recognized the problem and walked me through the entire process of matching the wires that were not color coordinated.
Pros: After spending a ton of time on the phone to different tech support people from Scosche, Kenwood, and Crutchfield this product is working fine.
Cons: Terrible tech support.Crutchfield response on April 1, 2015 We're sorry it took so much work to get your adapter working. Please give us another opportunity to serve you in the future.
Perfect fitment for our 2008 Buick Luscerne CXL. Quality is excellent, and was perfectly suited for our Buick application. Would highly recommend and purchase again.
Pros: Quality of product
Easy install instructions where very clear.
Pros: easy instalation
Cons: The harness is a bit short so there was some getting crafty to fit the radio with the kit in the small space. once that was done works like a charm
Easy enough for me as a first time car audio experience
Pros: Works and functions as it should
Cons: Loads of wires!!!
Great product for keep my steering wheel controls working!
Pros: Easy install
Works great can be a Lil sensitive when using control buttons
Pros: Great if you still.want your steering controls
Cons: Wires way to long for steering controls
Used this to install a Pioneer FH-X720BT in my 2010 Silverado. Once installed it worked as advertised, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the "mute" function still worked. Instructions could have been clearer. There were 2 sets of instructions included. Both slightly different both with typos and missing information. Once installed, it worked fine, but it took some head scratching. Most importantly is that switched 12 volts is only available on the large 4-place connector and had to be spliced into the Pioneer's wiring harness.
Pros: Works as advertised
Cons: Instructions could be clearer. Wish the wires were longer so it could be mounted somewhere besides right behind the head unit.
Very easy to follow instructions. Basically match the colors. Takes over the standard ding sounds your car makes for key left in ignition and directional. Not sure how I like the tock tock tock sounds over the cars old ding ding ding sound.
Pros: Easy to wire, match color wires. Small enough to hide behind the radio rather than mounting to the back.
Cons: Can't adjust the speaker volume. Make sure to place near open area under the dash, not stuffed behind the radio.
Cheap plastic crap. The turn signal sounds like a toy.
Pros: No problem
The good news is that the harness powers the head unit and the warning chime/steering wheel controls all work. In this regard, the Scosche works as advertised. The installation instructions are TERRIBLE. There was a small relay included that is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions and is needed to power the unit. It is not even shown in their poorly drawn pictures. Since these kits are used for many different cars, I did not want to assume that it was needed for mine so I ignored it just like the instructions. After de-installing the head unit twice to troubleshoot and check all power, wire splicing, voltage, etc. Finally someone from Crutchfield told me to plug the relay into the harness. I'm sorry, but the lack of clear instructions is inexcusable. Given the cost of this harness, they should spend a few bucks and re-write the instructions.
Pros: Connections fit, warning chimes and steering wheel controls work.
Cons: The install instructions are missing important information.
Awesome sales and Service. .Great d radio
Pros: Easy to install
Awesome product. With great instructions. Pretty easy to install also!
Pros: Easy to read and understand instructions.
Cons: None so far
Worked as described
Pros: Kept my factory features
Cons: A little awkward and bulky with short wires so made it interesting cramming it in to my Silverados dash
Works as expected. Lots of wires to splice, but worth the effort for sure!
Pros: Decent instructions
I was concerned about using a adapter for the steering wheel controls because the factory controls were sluggish and my fear was that an adapter would be even slower. This is NOT the case. This adapter works faster, better that the factory controls. What a great surprise! The turn signal chime is louder than it used to be but this does not bother me, someone said it sounded like someone chopping wood- cracked me up but it kind of does. If you have your stereo up higher than 10 you won't even hear it. Because this adapter controls the turn signal chime it has a flasher harness along with two other harnesses so make sure you have a lot of room behind your stereo. This will be a problem for some vehicles, I have a 08 silverado and there is a lot of room back there. I used the extra connectors from crutch field and they worked great, easier than solder and more secure that wire nuts.
Pros: I am thrilled
Cons: Needs a lot of room behind the stereo
A needed product with most modern vehicles.
Pros: Worked flawlessley the first time. Instructions are clear. I called tech support and they were very helpful (I had tried to install the plug backwards so I concluded I had the wrong cable)
Cons: None really. But this is not really an option but something that is really needed.
Product works as specified and had good directions. The turn signal has a good sound, some of these have really week chime sounds, but this one is good. Steering wheel controls work perfectly as well.
If u love your steering wheel controls, this is a must ! Easy to install and works perfectly ! All warning chimes work just like factory installed !
I paired this unit with an 07.5 Sierra (new body style no Bose) and a JVC 510HDT. The unit does retain many of th steering wheel controls. Unfortunately, the answer call button only acts as a mute now. If I use this feature, the radio stays muted until the head unit is reset. Odd, but as long as I don't use the call button works good enough for me.
Pros: Retains many stock functions
Cons: Call button spazzes out my head unit.
This adapter made it so easy and simple to install the aftermarket stereo into my vehicle. the instructions and diagrams were on the money.
Does what is suppose to do. When you back up with backup sensors it doesn't start to work until you are about a foot away.
Cons: Backup sensor do not work right
Easy install. Steering wheel controls work perfect
Works just like the factory equipment
Pros: Diy install and it was at a great price
Cons: Some trouble fitting in behind the radio
Install was easy just match wires with wires from the headunit using the references from both products. all the chimes, steering wheel controls work great just like the stock radio
Pros: easy and everything still works
Cons: my turn signals sound was barely noticeable before and now they are a bit louder. not a big deal though
Wiring to stereo was easy and straight forward. Does as advertised, it retained all of the warning chimes as well as all of the steering wheel controls in my Traverse. Only issues I have are that the volume of the chimes are fairly low (which is fine except for when it comes to the parking assist); and the parking assist warning doesn't begin beeping until you are about a foot away from an object. With the factory radio it began warning you with a slow beep much earlier and got faster the closer you got to an object.
Pros: Easy wiring. Retained steering wheel controls perfectly.
Cons: Parking assist should begin beeping much sooner than it does.
didn't think it would work but it did
worked exactly how I wanted it I would highly recommend crutchfield to anyone
Pros: worked like a charm
I have a 2011 gmc Sierra non Bose crew cab . I replaced all the factory speakers with 6.5 infinitys . I installed a kenwood exelon head unit. this harness was very simple to install. I sat at the table and did all of the wiring then went out to the truck and plugged it in and everything worked out fine. It took me about a hour to a hour and a half.
Pros: Very easy to install
Worked excellent in my 09 Chevy Impala, made my aftermarket head unit into a factory like install.
This item did everything as expected and was not that hard to install. As others have reviewed, there is a significant amount of wiring to do, but there is no wiring harness that would make the wiring any easier. As far as the instructions provided, there is a list of the wire colors and corresponding functions, so figuring out how to wire to the head unit harness is fairly simple. I had no problem getting this wired and working.
After the install of this system, I would say everything seems to work great. The only issue i have is that my blinker now sounds like a small person chopping wood. I didn't ever used to have any sound or detect any sound from the blinker before this install.
Had a lot of issues getting this to work. First didn't have any power (turned out to be a blown fuse at no fault of the unit) but then had power 100%. In other words, wouldn't ever shut off. Re checked the wiring numerous times, spoke with Crutchfield tech support many times. They sent me an entirely new wire harness and integration adapter. Found the problem as soon as I pulled the new harness out of the package. The first harness/adapter was missing a module that was plugged in to the extra plug for other components. All I had to do was plug that into my existing harness and it worked fine.
The other problem is when I have my turn signal on you can hear it "chiming" in the dash. Not a deal breaker, but a little annoying.
Pros: Steering wheel adapter works like it should
Cons: Scosche left out a major item from the original harness sent. A lot of wiring to do. Had to cut the RCA plugs off and splice the speaker wires. Turn signal noise. Not that difficult, just really time consuming. Could use better wire diagrams.
I just finished installing this on my 07' GMC Serria and it does the job but,,,,it's hard to install, you can't just plug it up..I had to cut RCA plugs off and splice the speaker wires.. You must use a relay that plugs directly into the harness that tech support said should have been included but wasn't. Instructions were not clear enough to hook up, had to call tech support several times to get it right. If it weren't for them I'd still be scratching my head...
Pros: It works like it should.
Cons: Lots of wires to splice, difficult instructions or just not clear enough..
Wiring diagram wasn't good enough to make this work. Had to call Crutchfield tech rep and they quickly resolved the problem.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Info supplied with kit not sufficient to make it work in the car. Tech rep researched and found what modification I needed to make it work.
Compatibility: The Scosche GM23SRstereo replacement interface allows you to replace your factory OEM stereo in select 2006-2011 GM vehicles (GM LAN29-bit), while retaining all necessary safety and warning features as well as retaining your original steering wheel controls (if factory equipped). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.
Note: Not compatible with OnStar or "Premium" Bose (y91/y92/z75) audio systems. Please check the service parts code sticker usually located in the glove box for "y91", "y92", "z75" equipment codes.
Safety & Warning Chimes: When replacing the factory radio in your GM vehicle, the GM23SRinterface will replace portions of your vehicle's audible Safety and Warning Chime systems. Without the S3-1, your vehicle will lose these functions when the factory radio is replaced.
ECM Compatible: In addition, the Scosche GM23SRwill send the proper data commands to your vehicle's ECM (Electronic Control Module) to indicate a "healthy" status for diagnostic purposes when your factory radio is replaced with an aftermarket head unit. Otherwise, your GM vehicle's ECM (Electronic Control Module) will store an error code if operated without the factory radio installed and you may experience difficulty in having the vehicle service at the dealership.
Steering Wheel Controls: The Scosche GM23SRstereo replacement interface includes a separate steering wheel control module, which allows you to keep your GM vehicle's factory steering wheel controls when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket head unit from Alpine, Clarion, JVC Kenwood, Pioneer, or Sony that is OEM steering wheel control compatible. No additional interface or programming is necessary.
High-Level/Low-Level Connections: The included wiring harness (S3GMLAN) provides high-level and low-level connections for your aftermarket head unit. The harness comes equipped with four low-level (RCA) inputs for GM Bose systems. The four low-level (RCA) inputs can be cut off for high-level (speaker) connection for Non-Bose systems.

I picked this kit because it is a all in one kit that will keep everything from the warning chimes and turn signals and steering wheel controls in my chevy silverado 1500. The only thing it will not support is onstar, which is fine with me because I will never use that feature in my truck. [ Kevin Dec 14, 2015 ]
