You bought a 2006-up Honda Civic coupe, but its console makes it impossible to upgrade the factory radio. This Scosche HA1561 dash kit replaces your console, and it's a perfect match for the color, texture, and contours of the dash in your Honda. It allows you to install an aftermarket DIN-sized (2" tall) stereo, with a pocket underneath, or double-DIN (4" tall) stereo, while maintaining all Honda heating, ventilation, and air conditioning controls.

Looks like it came from the factory. Same color as dash.
Pros: Easy to install
Everything fits perfect and makes the aftermarket unit look like it actually belongs with the car. Very easy transfer from old dash to new just a simple process
Pros: Looks very professional and blends in with stock solid and easy installation
5 star product if it would work without modification. I did have to use a X-acto knife to shave a couple of millimeters from the bottom lip of the opening for the HVAC buttons to prevent them from sticking. Also I wouldn't recommend reusing the screws that are removed from the OEM locations. They are too thick, and after the first screw split the mounting point, I switched to slightly smaller diameter screws and they worked perfectly. The color matches up nicely and snaps into the dash securely. Great product.
Pros: Color matches dark gray interior. Attaches to dash securely.
Cons: Have to trim HVAC opening slightly. You should reuse the Honda screws as they may split the mounting points.
Kit comes complete with everything needed (almost). Trial installation of factory components showed that some trimming of openings (HVAC and mounting holes) was needed prior to final installation. Color match with factory panels is very close (but not perfect). Mounting holes cracked when using factory screws to mount HVAC, Hazard, and Air Bag indicator light. I did call Crutchfield Support to ask about the short mounting screws and they told me exactly what I needed to get.
Pros: Dash panel is very close to factory color throughout (not painted). All parts fit together as per instructions. Inexpensive kit.
Cons: I needed to purchase longer mounting screws for the stereo that I was installing (Alpine CDE-151) as the ones that were included were too short.
If you have brown seats, carpet, and door panels order the taupe for your Honda civic.
Pros: -Looks really nice, clean look. -Good price when ordering with a stereo.
Cons: -Color is off a little, hard to notice though. -Screws that hold the deck in and heater controls in place are needed as the factory screws are too big that are on the back of the factory radio. -Need to file down the lower part of the HVAC controls. This is easy to do, use a pocket knife, stand it on edge and slide it back and forth to shave a bit of the plastic off. No fancy tools needed to do this and nothing is noticeable once assembled.
Everything fit great only negative was the instructions were not complete.
Pros: Fit and finish
Cons: Midway through the project the instructions skipped over some stuff
When I received the product there was no mention that my double-din stereo needed to be installed directly to this kit, without the mounting sleeve that it came with. The radio instructions didn't say that, the Scosche kit instructions didn't say that, and Crutchfield didn't say that either. The screws that came with the Kenwood unit I bought weren't even long enough to work because they were designed to use the sleeve. So there I was at 10:30 at night, confused as anything at the instructions so I called Crutchfield. They quickly told me that there are no instructions for what I needed to do to my Civic, and that the screws wouldn't work and I would have to go buy new ones. This is not what you want to hear at 10:30 at night when your car's dash is strung all over your garage.
Also, there's plenty of room for the sleeve if the dash kit would have been made right. I have no idea why it's made this way. Now, any time I need to get into the back of the head unit I have to take my entire dash apart because I can't use the sleeve. Not cool.
Additionally, my A/C controls barely fit, and some of the buttons stick. It doesn't seem a perfect fit.
Pros: It technically worked, barely.
Cons: Can't use double DIN sleeve with stereo installation, requiring you to mount your stereo directly to a '09 Honda Civic. A/C Controls didn't fit well into the Scosche dash replacement piece. Buttons stick. No instructions telling me that I would need to mount my stereo directly with screws that I would have to buy separately.Crutchfield response on November 25, 2015 Once we saw this review and the customer contacted our Tech Support team, we began to reevaluate the information we display for double-DIN kits. These kits do not require the mounting sleeve that generally come with new radios. We're also updating the availability of a package of screws we offer (item 120ISOPK) to help attaching the dash kit to the car stereo.
Darn near perfect fit - color match was perfect - easy fit, was impressed
Pros: Perfect color match
Cons: Needed to trim the a/c trim opening. The buttons were sticking on the recirculation - not a big thing, took a razor blade and just shaved a little bit at a time until it fit just right.
So helpful in getting the aftermarket stereo to look stock. It is a bit thinner than the stock dash piece so use a light hand- but once installed it looks like it came on the car from the factory.
Pros: Looks stock and matches the car almost perfectly. Made installation breeze.
Cons: A bit fragile so use a light hand when tightening down nuts.
The dash kit was pretty well built, but I had to file down the slot for the AC buttons. They were getting stuck in the 'down' position when I first installed the buttons. Yes, I tried moving them first, but there was too much plastic around the bottom. The OE screws cracked a few of the screw holes when I installed the hazard button and OE HVAC controls but it's holding real nicely regardless. The color was ALMOST perfect- you'd only see the difference if you stared at the two panels coming together for a while. The texture was perfect, and it went together real well. Overall, it's usable, and looks good.
Pros: Looks good, nice fit and finish on the dashboard itself.
Cons: Not so good fit and finish around the HVAC controls, needed some filing to allow buttons to work freely. Some screw holes cracked when using the OEM screws to reinstall the buttons, etc.
As explained. Fit 07 Si
installed in a 06 honda civic
Pros: easy to install
Cons: directions left out a few steps. feels sort of flimsy
This piece fit well and was fairly easy to install.
Pros: Perfect fit
Cons: Slight color variation
Crutchfield ships fast and complete which I think softens me up so I'm not so critical :-)
The unit is a bit "crispier" (delicate) than was hoping but install went pretty smoothly. I took the advice of other reviewers and slowly screwed the head unit and pocket into place. The finish texture and look/feel is different than stock, but I think it's acceptable and I believe on the owner/installer (aren't we all both?) will only notice if they are *looking* to see the difference. Although a bit flimsy when apart, all the pieces come together fairly well and I haven't notice any shaking or movement on my single DIN unit. I did have to sand down the plastic near the HVAC controls to prevent my defroster button from sticking. It was actually quite a bit of sanding, so be careful you don't scratch the visible surface when sanding (I think the seams are where my fitment issues were). The pocket is great to store my phone, Sansa Clip (yeah, I still use Rhapsody) and USB Drive with plenty of room.
Initial impression of quality: 6.1/10 Price: 9.7/10 (especially with one-day free ship - thanks C-field) Fit: 8.3/10 (sanding, filing, squeezing, pushing, etc.) Finish 8.5/10 (how it looks compared to stock)
Since the OEM navi bezel with comparable hardware/brackets was ~$160 at the dealer, I would likely go this route again simply for the cost savings.
Pros: Cost, one day free ship
Cons: Material quality and fit and finish - although at this price point I don't think I'm that disappointed. If this were ~$100, I would expect much more.
Nice clean fit and look
Pros: Fit like a glove
The dash does fit technically fit in my 2010 honda civic. But A/C controls do not fit perfectly, the A/C knobs don't twist with ease anymore, and I can see that it has a big tolerance to fit many models
Pros: Installs securely
Cons: Not a exact perfect fit to my standards or to the stock dash before
The color, texture, and contour is ever so slightly off, and there are some small gaps around the passenger airbag light and hazard light buttons. The mounting/screw holes are a bit fragile as well, so make sure you have those screws lined up perfectly. Wish the ISO brackets weren't plastic-- they don't inspire a lot of confidence that they're going to hold up the head unit. Otherwise, it snapped into the dash and lined up pretty much perfectly.
Pros: Lines up perfectly with dash
Cons: Small gaps around buttons Plastic components are flimsy Color, texture, and contours are not a "perfect match," as advertised
Looks great! It took a little time getting the radio just right but worth every minute! Color isn't an exact match but very close! So thankful to be able to remove factory unit!
Pros: Works great, looks good, color is close
Cons: Bottom brackets should be metal not plastic.
Great product. Color matched good, and it was easy to install.
Pros: Easy to install. Sony XSP-N1BT Double DIN unit fit great. good color match. Had no trouble with my climate control knobs
Cons: Does slant back a little more than I like. My screen is my phone so I don't really have trouble with the sun.
I give it a second star because for the most part it was easy to install. The low rating is for 2 reasons. One is that my "max AC" button sticks. I was able to take it back apart and drill the holes a little bigger so I could adjust the heater unit just enough so that the button doesn't stick. The second, and biggest reason, is because it angles too much upward. This would seem to make sense so that it's easy for the driver and passenger to view the screen. However, during most parts of the day, in a Honda Civic the windshield lets a lot of sun in straight down on the dash and completely washes out the radio screen. During the middle of the day, the screen is washed out 3 out of 4 driving directions. They really need to instead try to make the screen straight vertical, or inset it further into the dash to get some shade. Not sure if I can do anything at this point since that is the design. Perhaps they will read this review and consider a different design.
Pros: Easy to install Looks like a factory finish
Cons: Slants upward allowing the sun to wash out the radio screen Heater unit did not fit well enough, causing one button to stick, until I was able to modify it to work.
Be ready to do some hefty modifications to make this work. I bought this kit along with the Alpine CDE-W265T to go in my 2010 Civic LX. AC buttons stuck like most say they will so I had to use a dremel to make that opening larger (not a big deal). The plastic posts that the screws for the climate controls, airbag light and hazard lights button all cracked, but still held tight. Then, the biggest issue, was the metal cage/sleeve for the Alpine stereo didn't fit in the "double din" opening" in this kit. I had to melt/cut the lip on the top and the bottom of the opening to remove the lips to make it fit. Also, the plastic ring/jacket that came with this kit to go around the stereo also did not fit properly. After all of that, I got the stereo installed and the color of the dash kit matched near perfect as far as I can tell and all of the holding clips held tight once the kit was snapped in.
Pros: I got the Alpine CDE-W265BT installed
Cons: Climate control buttons stuck and needed modding to make them function Plastic posts for the screws all cracked "Double din" opening was too small for the metal cage/sleeve of my double din stereo
When snapped into my dash, this kit fits fine but the color is slightly off. All OEM parts and pieces mounted pretty well but you might need to use some fine grit sand paper on the lower point where the climate controls sit. I found that my lower buttons would stick.
Pros: Ease of install, price, OEM like look and feel
Cons: Stereo mounting brackets are plastic, I wish they were metal and more secure feeling, color doesn't match, needs some sanding to make pieces fit and function properly.
Poor manufacture and materials! But it does the job (Day 1 so far)
Pros: Correct color after first receiving Dark Gray instead of Toupe. I spotted the difference, but it was extremely difficult to see. Once Taupe arrived, though, I could tell immediately it was the right color. The item packaging has 3 boxes with colors (Dark Gray, Toupe, Blue something) - but none were checked-marked. So make sure you are not getting Toupe insted of Dark Gray and vice versa! Fits the dash
Cons: Crutchfield lacks instructions for this item. A few thing worth mentioning: Once a plastic vent is installed, it will pretty much block a bolt for the stereo unit to half of one support bracket. The 2 x 8mm bolts will somewhat align through the bottom, but will not fit the plastic screw posts - they are too big and the screws need to be self-threading. I ended up getting a pair of different screws that fit. Fortunately, I had a another dash kit so I was able to fit the screw while the support
The color match is not great, but it's decent at this price. As others have noted here (and amazon reviews as well), the fit is not 100%. I had to take a dremel to the lower lip and bottom right corner where the buttons would stick. This was an extreme PITA, but I did eventually get it to fit. The retaining clips on the kit also pop out easily, so try not to pull it out once you've set it in there (I had to, due to fitment issues). I had no issues with the screw holes breaking (as others noted), but I did hand screw them in, and took care to not overtighten. Otherwise, it's a decent kit that gets the job done satisfactorily.
Pros: -Decent match to dark gray dashboard (for the price) -Other than the HVAC control area, there were no other fitment issues
Cons: The HVAC controls would stick when pushed, so the kit required some modification (sanded down lower lip and corner area of HVAC controls)
Fit is good no big gaps. Fit looks like could be stock. Color match a bit off. But close enough.
Pros: Looks stock with double din stereo.
Cons: Only con is color match not exact. A bit off but does the job would send back.
Required modifications to allow the buttons to pop out after they are pushed. Color is close but not a match.
Pros: Looks nice over all but...
Cons: Not a color match. Requires sanding on all ports where factory buttons will be installed otherwise buttons will not work properly.
The color is perfect, but the climate control buttons will stick in the "on" position if you don't modify the opening. I spent an hour with a Dremel and drill to modify it so the buttons would pop back up after releasing them.
Great factory look in the dash. Fit double din receiver perfectly. Great product at an even greater price!
Pros: Great fit. Easy to install. Color match.
It's awful. You buy something to make your car look and function correctly, this does neither. The HVAC controls don't fit so the bottom buttons are always pushed down (I need to pull it back out now to sand it down (it seems this is a standard feature of this unit). The screw holes will break. The metal clips will fly off if you attempt to remove the unit to fit the HVAC issue. It's not even close to the correct color (Dark Grey) it's far too blue so I now have a 2 tone dash. It's not even caused by sun damage, it's just a totally different color and texture to the original.
As far as I can tell they didn't even test this on a car before mass producing them. Absolute garbage, find another way of doing it because this isn't the answer if you want your car to look anywhere near correct inside.
Pros: It fits, sort of.
Cons: The HVAC buttons are stuck down at the bottom (as many other reveiwers have also noticed. The screw holes will all break when screwing in (pretty much the first turn causes the break) The metal clips WILL fly off into the back of your dash if you try to take this off again to fix the HVAC issues. If you have dark grey it's not going to match the dark grey interior, even kind of. It's a completely different color. I now have 2 tone dash.Crutchfield response on November 25, 2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
The color matches the bezel it replaced and the fit and finish looks OEM. The retaining clips also line up very well with the factory holes.
Pros: Color matches the dash. Fits tight when buttoned down.
Cons: The bottom portion of the cut for the HVAC buttons needed to be sanded down a bit because the buttons were catching causing them to stick down when pressed. Some of the screw posts behind the bezel cracked as I was tightening the screw holding down the HVAC controls, air bag light, and hazard button.
Looks pretty good, but I had to use a dremel/sandpaper to bore out the holes so the climate control buttons would operate properly. Furthermore, every screw that went in sounded like it was going to crack the adapter. Also could use some more screw holes on the sides for more accurate mounting.
A 5-star product with 2-star machining.
Cons: Brittle, poor machining.
Everything is fine with the fit of double din radios and factory pieces. Color match is horrible for a Civic Si so i would have to recommend anyone particular about the color to order the factory double din nav dash piece for color match.
Cons: color match is horrible for Si's
Color matched well (Dark grey) and seemed to fit as well as the factory dash. Well priced.
Pros: Includes single and dual DIN, everything was easy to install and sturdy.
Cons: Can't complain
Matches original dash exactly.
Pros: Easy install and looks original..
Works good.. Color doesn't match perfect. Fits and does what it's supposed to do.
Pros: Fits great made my install simple.
Cons: Color doesn't match perfect. But still looks good.
I am amazed that units like this are available. It is an exact replica of a the factory module..
Pros: ease of install
For the price you get what you paid for it. I had fitting problems with th ac controlers, and the airbag indicator. It also does not snap back perfictly to the dashboard. I had to take the dashboard apart several times for various reasons and no matter what I did it go back the way it is supposed to.
Pros: It's cheap
Cons: Its made cheap
just get it
Pros: does its job fits well no gaps
Cons: color doesnt match need to flie away the plastic arount the knobs antil they operate smoothly
Installed into a 2008 Honda Civic. Had no issues and the color is a great match to the rest of the dash.
Pros: Looks "factory" once complete. All buttons and controls worked on mine without any modification to the assembly.
Cons: I was reading the instructions word-for-word and it listed only the step to remove the climate controls from the factory assembly but didn't list the hazard button or passenger airbag light. I felt stupid once I realized what was wrong after I placed the new assembly but the instructions were indeed missing those steps!
overall appearance is good.only problem i had was the ac control head unit switches were rubbing on lower half of trim panel had to resort to minor filing to allow for free movement of switch selection
Pros: would use again without hesitation. after all it wouldnt be custom if there wasnt a little work involved
Cons: plastic a little to hard should be a little better quality
It looks good and is a pretty sturdy piece of plastic. Color is a little off, but it still looks good to me. Only problem I had, that others had mentioned, is that the screws will crack the plastic around the round bits the screws fit into. They still felt somewhat secure though. I think it's just the type of plastic. It's so dense, that it can't stretch at all, so it cracks a bit around that area.
Pros: Cheap, and everything fit just fine on my 2010 Civic LX.
Cons: Cracking plastic around the screw holes on the inside.
Cons: Came with all parts as advertised and easy to install
This was a great product to complete installation
Pros: great fit
Exactly as described.
Pros: Fits great. Looks great. Single din or double din adapter.
Worked to install double din in my 07 civic si coupe... Color wasn't perfect match and needed to file out the A/C area so the buttons don't stick
Pros: Worked Cheap with HU purchase
Cons: Color didn't match A/C button area needed to be modified to fit
06 civic. You need it. Short of making your own or cutting it up and letting it look bad, you need it. Just get it. ha
Pros: took like ten minutes tops to switch everything from the old one to the new one. Everything fit spot on!
Cons: The plastic was not ment for the cold and didn't seem very forgiving so be kind of gentle.
Looks almost factory but color is a little off. Had to trip around HVAC opening to keep buttons from sticking but perfect after that.
Pros: Straight forward install
Cons: Color just a little off
Overall the panel fit the car correctly. I had read several of the reviews by other people who bought it and they were true to fact. All of the holes in the fascia had to be trimmed to accommodate the factory switches, The color was very close but not exact and all of the screw posts where the switches mounted cracked while installing the screws. When the panel was installed in the dash of the car, the finished job was very good.
Pros: A good overall match and fit for the Honda civic.
Cons: Modifications had to be made to the factory switches.
This was ok but had to do some trimming for buttons sticking on climate control. Color was very close
Pros: Color match
Cons: Sticking climate control buttons
Made installation not only possible but easy. It looks great and is very solid. If you break the plastic putting the screws in, you are getting in too big of a hurry. Take your time and do it right. You won't be disappointed. I did file the edge below the button panel because at first the bottom row of buttons were sticking but it only took a few minutes. I am very impressed at the quality and the price. I'm also thankful that these are available because the stock civic head unit is complete garbage.
Pros: Quality Price Stability Ease of installation
Cons: Needs some very slight fine tuning
I used this adapter to install a new Kenwood DDX-470 double-din receiver. It worked wonderfully, and the price was superb! I only had to do some very minor sanding on the bottom portion to keep my A/C buttons from sticking in the down position, but other than that, I had no trouble at all. The color is only slightly different than my original dash, but not enough to be of any concern, and is likely due to years of weathering and sun in the harsh Florida environment. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who needed to upgrade their factory stereo. You can't go wrong.
Pros: Great fit, superb price, gets the job done with ease
Cons: Color is slightly off (taupe), but not by much and slight sanding was needed to ensure A/C button controls remained free
I used this trim kit to replace the factory radio with a single DIN in my 2010 civic ex. It fits well and matches the dash color. I had the same issue some others mentioned with the AC buttons interfering with the cutout, but a file did the trick.
One other thing I ran into - there are 2 screws that screw into the bottom of the brackets to attach it to the dash. On the factory trim they are machine screws into a metal bracket, with this trim kit the screws go into plastic instead so the machine screws don't work - at least I couldn't get them to. I used a couple of extra Phillips pan head screws that were left over in the factory trim piece that held on the old radio. They worked much better. The holes didn't line up all that we'll for these screws either, but the plastic bends easy enough to make it work.
I would buy it again.
Pros: Matches the factory dash well. Good price.
Cons: A little extra work to get everything to work right once it's installed.
Very easy to install. Build quality is great.
Once you get it in, it is in. They did a decent job with this for the price I think. There are a few issues with it, that requires some work, but it snaps in and makes no noise, so it is a definite functional unit.
Pros: It snaps right in.
Cons: If you buy this unit, you will need the following: 1. 220 grit sandpaper 2. Thinner screws You have to sand down the excess molding, use the factory molding as a guide otherwise your passenger airbag light and hazard button will not align correctly. You will need thinner screws because each of the screw slots are not the same size, they slight vary and half of them will crack and snap. Also once you mount the radio, the bottom screw holes will not align with the metal bracket under the dash
I like the kit, the fit with my temperature control buttons was a little off and I needed to do some filing. The fit after the trim was pretty good but the head unit is held at a slight upwards angle and causes some wash out. overall im satisfied for the price I paid and the color match was good.
Pros: Color match, ease of instillation
Cons: slight trim needed, angle of display
it fits perfectly but it doent match the color on my dashboard.
I put a DVD audio deck in my '09 civic using this adapter.
Over all it is a very good adapter however, there are a few minor annoyances.
First the color is slightly off. Not really that noticeable, and I kind of figured it wouldn't match perfectly so I wasn't disappointed. Anyway, I'm not sure that it would match if it came from Honda. I imagine that the color between batches of plastic don't match perfectly. Kind of like trying to match the paint of bedroom.
Second, is the fit of the components that are transferred from the old adapter to this new one. The passenger air bag light, emergency flasher button, and the climate controls get transferred and installed. The adapter had extra plastic material that interfered with the fit of the air bag light and climate controls. The air bag light didn't sit flush like it did in the factory adapter. I had to file off a bit of flash from the adapter, then it fit. Also the climate control buttons stuck. Again, with a little filing, the fit nicely. Make sure to test all the climate controls after installing them into this adapter, and sand any excess plastic to make everything fit.
I would recommend this adapter to anyone looking to upgrade their receiver. Just have a bit of emery cloth on hand when you begin. Expect a slight color mismatch. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results... I was.
Pros: Price and overall fit
Cons: Slight color mismatch, and minor sanding to make controls fit.
Good fit in honda civic coupe
Pros: Easy installation
Cons: Slightly different color/ texture from original dash
This was a very good quality product, the fitment was perfect with no deformities, and the color was almost spot on.
Pros: Fitment What you paid for
Cons: color is slightly off
Pros: Great fit and color match.
Cons: No instructions for removal of factory unit since this product only applies to one make vehicle.
The product works, but I would by no means say it's "great" product. The screw holes are all super tight and a couple of them broke when re-attaching the controls. The day after I installed, my AC button started sticking. I had to literally pull down on the trim to get get button to release. The color is a bit off (not that bad IMO). The directions that came with were almost worthless.
Pros: Works for replacing Honda Civic factory radio
Cons: AC buttons stick, screw holes crack, color not exact match.
It works. The color is a little off, and the hvac controls were a little snug once screwed back in, but it gets the job done.
Pros: Fits perfectly.
Cons: Color/Snug HVAC controls.
This worked like a charm, nothing was left to chance every piece fit just like it came from the factory installed.
Pros: Ease of installation was a breeze
Fit in the dash nicely, does what it's supposed to do.
Perfectly fit the Honda civic coupe on installing an after market radios. The color also blends very well with the factory dash color of the vehicle.
Overall I am happy with this dash kit. Tho color of the kit is slightly different from my dashboard, but close enough that I can live I live with the difference. Two of the screws holes that hold the heating controls cracked while I was putting in the screws, but they still seemed to hold the screws firmly.
The adapter works as advertised. It seems to integrate well with a Kenwood DNX7190HD.
Pros: It works
I bought this adapter for my new Alpine CDE147BT car deck as Crutchfield stated that it would fit my car. It did! My only complaint is that the color is different from the stock dash, but it is hardly noticable. It was easy to install and everything fit perfectly. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to replace their factory stereo system.
Pros: Easy to install, looks great, and it is sturdy.
Cons: Color is off a little bit....but not enough for me to care about it.....cause my system sounds awesome!
I almost bought this same item for twice as much on another website, my wallet thanks you:-)
Pros: It fits without any modification to my car
Looks great and fits great! Fairly easy to install!
Pros: Easy to install. Looks good.
Fits just like an oem piece, couldn't be happier with it.
No explanation on how to get the A/C knobs off. They just pop off, but I was nervous and didn't want to break them.
Works.. wrong color ac buttons stick without sanding it.. it is what it is
Read reviews that the quality of this kit was questionable in regards to both fit and color. Small mounting holes stripping out and color just a shade off. It was such a concern for me that it match that I ordered an OEM DDin Gunmetal faceplate, but needed this kit for the internal side brackets. Without dis-assembly I thought it may be possible to use the original non-navigation system brackets but I ordered this kit just in case. The original brackets turned out to be completely different and this kits brackets came in handy. The color on this kits faceplate was a closer match than the OEM, but the form fit and function was of lesser quality and chose to go with the OEM although just a shade off in color. Otherwise, the kit includes everything you will need to go from a Din to DDin for this application.
Pros: Crutchfield provides this kit at a significant discount. It was worth not having to chase down appropriate brackets upon realizing original Din brackets would not work. It works great if you rather not pay OEM prices.
Cons: Quality of the mounting points were questionable, plastic looked of lesser quality particularly from the backside, although it may have worked.
This is obviously NOT a product made by "HONDA", i could tell right from when i handled it; the plastic just felt different. the color was not exactly the same but close enough.
Pros: fit was exact. color was mostly good match.
Cons: the screw holes for your parts needing to attach are very weak and will split; be extremly careful when aiming and starting the threads for attaching the parts like the climate control and hazard flasher button and airbag light; I also had to just slightly shave off the bottom edge below where the buttons for Rear defroster and recerc. buttons are because the fit was very tight causing the two buttons to stick in when pressed.
I am very happy with this kit! It's easy to install, color match is great, and looks like a factory piece!
Pros: Easy install, looks great, fits perfect!
Cons: Have to shave just a hair of the hole for the thermastat buttons, but you won't anything aftermarket that doesn't require some type of adjusting.
This dash adapter was a perfect fit in my 2007 Honda Civic Si. No mods at all. The only problem is that the color is not exact, but it is close enough that no one will notice unless they are looking for it. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.
Pros: Fit perfectly and needed no modification.
Cons: Color is a shade or two lighter, but it doesn't look bad.
Pretty simple install, however I had to file down the ac control button area so that it fit correctly, for the price of it I kinda expected that.
Pros: Cheap, simplistic install, allowed me to replace my factory radio.
Cons: Very very very close to the texture and color of the piece it was replacing, but not exact, no one entering my car will ever notice. Required slight personal editing to fit the ac controls.
Unfortunately/apparently, it is TOO difficult to match the stock 'taupe' (a brown variation) dashboard color. This is definitely light-grey - NOT taupe.
Pros: Screw holes seemed in the right places ... via the mold. Mounting bracket is lighter weight (plastic) than stock (metal).
Cons: color STILL not matching taupe dash pieces
Using this in a 2008 Civic... I was a little unsure of how the install would go based on other reviews, but everything went okay and I am happy with my purchase. Doing my homework (both here and around the internet) paid off. The adapter fits perfectly and the color match is very good, at least on the dark gray. You might notice a slight difference depending on lighting, but it isn't glaring. Install went okay, but you need to go slow. Take your time and don't rush. I followed an earlier reviewer's advice and heated up the screws immediately before installing each one. A few seconds with a lighter did the trick for me. I only cracked one post, and that was because I went a little too fast and overtightened it a bit. Fortunately, it still held in place. The only other issue I ran into was with the bottom role of temperature controls sticking. It was an easy fix though; Removed that module, sanded down the bottom part of that opening, and all was good.
Pros: Fits, good color match
Cons: Easy to break if you aren't careful
Good solid fit. No issues with Kenwood Radio Install aside from removing the factory radio itself
Pros: Sturdy, Perfect fit
Cons: Color match is off by a shade which isn't noticeable unless you really look hard and after that it will bug you a little bit.
Good fit, easy to install however my biggest complaint is the color match. It is not the exact color of my 2010 Honda Civic lx-s . I have a grey dashboard. When putting on the heater vent and heater control some of the screw did crack the rear plastic. Since the weight of these things is not much, I did not get any squeak sound or any physical mismatch from it. Therefore if you are going to order and want to upgrade your factory radio and you can live with not the exact color match then go for it.
Pros: fit, functional
Cons: color match is off, rear screw on of unit is not strong
The only thing I'd change about this kit would be providing side mounts that would allow for the screws that came with the Alpine radio to fit. Aside from that, the color matched perfectly, its sturdy, and I'm not getting any squeaking or creeking noises inside the can. I'd definitely buy another one of these kits.
Pros: Matches the civic dashboard color, sturdy.
Cons: Hard to mount the radio, you may need different screws.
As with previous buyers I also found that the self-tapping screws (which came with the kit) when inserted into their screw holes seemed to crack the post some. A somewhat over-tight screw would definitely strip any of these holes. But with caution and patience I was able to swap the stock componants over to this one and mount it all in the dash succesively. Looks good and nothing has yet to come loose.
Pros: Looks good.
Cons: Cracked receiving posts.
Poor installation instructions. Color was off. Mounting brackets were plastic and didn't align well. The brackets should definitely have been made of metal. The OEM mounting was all metal and very strong. This was a really cheap and some areas cracked when using the installing the screws, which are required to stabilize the unit! My advice would be to modify the unit so that the OEM metal mountings could be used, or Schoshe should make the mounting brackets of metal.
Pros: It fit!
Cons: Cheap plastic mounting brackets. Very poor instructions. Poor color match. Very, very poor quality.
Was exactly what I needed. Installed myself on a 2010 civic and it fit perfectly. I'm not sure if they updated the product but I had no problems with splitting.
Pros: Looks great, got plenty of compliments that it looked great
Cons: Was a little frustrating getting the knobs for the temp and fan speed since it had no instruction on removing them. Simple flat head screwdriver and some nervous prying fixed it though
The color and finish look to be a identicle to the factory piece and everything fit perfectly for intalling a double din head unit. It does angle the radio up a little more than I would like which makes the display on the radio catch a little more light from the window. This makes the display, which is barely bright enough to read in daylight even worse. I also had toe same post splitting problem as other people. The posts seem long enough and the holes seem the same diameter as the factory piece so I think the problem is with the type of plastic used. Honda's is less brittle and more flexible. I read the review where someone heated the screws, good idea, unfortunately I read it after the install. At least the parts that hang by the split posts still seem secure and weigh almost nothing.
Pros: Fits and looks good.
Cons: Brittle plastic screw posts. Make sure head unit has a bright display.
First of all, I would have to agree with the other reviews about the color match being a few shades off. It looks ok, but is clearly not an exact match or texture. As for the "post splitting" issue, i simply heated up the stock screws with a propane torch. I didn't get them real hot, just a few seconds in the flame. This worked perfectly, not a single crack in the plastic screw posts. They seemed to soften the plastic just enough so it wouldn't crack or split. I also had to file the opening for the ac/heater control so the buttons wouldn't get held up and stick on the surrounding cover. After the cautious reinstallation, it looks pretty good. The adaptor does clip into the dash well and fits great, I just wish I didn't have to take the extra steps for fit and finish. Thanks to all the people who reviewed this before me. I knew what to look for when doing it myself.
Pros: Fits in with the rest of the dash very well
Cons: Color match and texture is a bit off. Caution is needed when reinstalling the stock components into the adaptor. Minor modification is needed to get a perfect ac/heater control fit.
The quality of this adapter leaves room for improvement. As I transferred components to the new adapter, twisting the self-tapping screws into the holes, I could hear a snapping sound. Upon close inspection I could see that the plastic had actually cracked so the screw was no longer held in place as firmly as would otherwise be the case. And I had to manually file the opening of a couple of components to make them fit properly. This was most notable on the climate controls where the buttons on the entire second row would stick when pressed. Good thing I checked this before installing the adapter in the dash.
Given all this, I was holding my breath that the thing would actually align properly when the time came to install it. As it turned out, it was a perfect fit.
Pros: Good color match; Perfect fit in the dash
Cons: holes are off a little...nearly all of them. Plastic receiving holes for screws tend to split and crack.
The adapter works and fits perfect. Overall it looks original. Wish it was more sturdy and not all plastic. OEM parts seems more rugged with the steel frame mount box.
I installed the kit it in a 2010 LX Civic and it looks fine, but I had issues with the install. First off is the "post splitting" issue. The kit requires use of the screws from the OEM dash to attach the vent, hazard light button, air bag indicator, and air conditioning controls. The OEM screws are a little longer and slightly larger in diameter than #8 half inch screws. I attached all the parts using the OEM screws, and at least half of the posts split. Clearly the holes in the posts are too small.
I was not happy with the situation and Crutchfield sent me another kit. Instead of using the OEM screws I used #8 screws. This time I slowly threaded the #8 screws into each hole, and I still got 1 nice split and a couple of minor ones. I then tried boring the holes out with a 5/32 drill bit, and that totally resolved the issue (using #8 screws) as I got no further splits.
The other issue I had was the air conditioning/heat controls being pressed up against the lip of the hole in the new dash kit causing one of the buttons to stick. I filed the area down, and this resolved the issue.
So in conclusion, this thing requires some extra work to get it in properly. I wish I could get an OEM aftermarket dash kit, but that does not appear to be an option on a 2010 Civic (at least per my local dealer). I want to give Crutchfield a big thumbs up for their support. They've been awesome both times I've contacted them with issues.
Cheaply made. The plastic cracks as you screw items in. Buttons dont look snug, such as passenger airbag notifier. Did not fit my new stereo as expected: Couldn't attach alpine radio without removing outer metal shell, which means I'll have to remove the whole dash to access the back of the radio.
I will be calling Crutchfield.
Installed without any problem on my 2010 Honda Civic Coupe.
Color seems to match the interior as well, no complaints.
Installation was a breeze. The color matched as well. My only minor complaint is the
angle of my new deck. It faces upward a bit rather than outward. I also would have liked
to have the option of putting a plate over the opening rather than have another empty
I put this in My Wifes coupe and everything worked perfect. The fit, the color, no issues
whatsoever. The only "issue" I had was that I underestimated the amouth of force for it
to snap in to place, a little elbow grease and ta-da.
This kits fits perfectly into the factory dash and matches the contours, holds the Double DIN stereo securely, and all the controls turn freely but...
the color does not match at all. Crutchfield offered to refund and pay for return shipping so I will be buying the OEM dash assembly from Honda.
Installed on a 08 civic sedan the dark grey dashboard. The color is off by a few shades compared to the stock dash but not too noticeable. The fit for the clips were perfect. Had to file the opening around the AC controls as the buttons were sticking. Will have to wait and see how it holds up. But, it seems to work.
This "adapter" is a poorly made thin and flimsy replacement for the factory dash. The plastic cracks when you bolt on your dash items (vent, lights, etc.) even if your careful.
It never snapped into the dash properly, almost like it wasn't made for my civic.... Crutchfield is refunding my money, don't waste yours!
I purchased this kit to install my Pioneer DEH-P5000UB. This kit along with the wiring harness adapter made my car stereo installation a snap. The only slight hiccups was that the opening seemed a bit narrow. When I tried to slide the radio installation sleeve in the opening it was a bit narrow. So I left the back mounting screws a bit loose until I got the sleeve in place then tightened the screws. Also the factory face plate had 2 extra screws that held the face plate to the dash that were located in the small storage compartment under the radio. Those two screws are no longer used. So the unit is not as secure as factory. However the installed panel looks great!! It seems to be secure enough it does not wiggle, vibrate or squeak. I am so happy that this product is available for my car. I love my new radio. I look forward to driving to work now and enjoying my new sounds.
I used this kit in my new 2008 civic hybrid, and this kit was well worth the money. I used it to install my Kenwood DNX8120, it made installation quick, neat and makes the new system look like it came factory with the car!
This fits and does the job. The color is good with my dark gray, and it pops right in. The receiver support is a bit lacking compared to what was holding my stock radio/cd player. This only has 2 screws on each side of the plastic brackets; the stock one was metal and completely supported the radio/cd unit on all sides. It's too bad it wouldn't fit into the Scosche unit. Also, instructions were lacking for this unit and for this part of the installation in the Crutchfield mastersheet instructions.
I bought this for my 07 civic sedan the dark grey dashboard. The color is off by a few shades compared to the stock dash but not too noticeable. The fit for the clips were perfect. Now the hole in the dash for the stereo is where it gets tricky. For a regular single din stereo it fits well, but for a double din some adjustments need to be made. I actually needed to make the hole a little bit but cutting it with a saw. After the cutting the stereo fit good but wished I didnt have to go to all that extra trouble.
Installation is pretty simple. My AC button in the bottom right corner stuck after installing. I had to file down that corner to allow the button to be pushed and not stick. Color is not an exact match but it looks okay. I used the sleeve that came with my receiver instead of screwing my radio directly to the brackets, it pushes the top part of the brackets out, but the screws in the bottom pocket keep it tight.
Like everyone has said it is a tad light but you only notice if your look for it.
I was very happy with the way it fit, very easy. The only thing i did not like
is that the braces that hold in the deck are plastic, also the screws that
came with my head unit were not long enought to reach threw the plastice
and into the deck, I bought the kenwood DDX8017. Also the 2 8mm bolts
were very hard to put back in becuse the plastic kept moving around. I just
ended up leaveng them out! there is like 9 clips holding the deck in place.
The fit is great, the quality is great, the texture of the dash adapter matches perfectly! I have an Si Sedan ('08) with the dark grey dashboard, and the adapter is too light. I would give it a 7 out of 10. The OEM hardware that was taken out of the original dash did not fit into the Scosche. The Metra dash adapter had a color that was much closer, and even includes hardware, but the build quality is cheaper. I tried both, and ended up using the Scosche simply because I had no choice. I hope that a better matching product comes out soon.
I was a little concerned about this matching the dash and all, but it fits perfect and looks great! no problems whatsoever
I installed this adapter kit in my 2008 Honda Civic LX yesterday and it works great. Nice, tight fit, holds my Alpine cd deck secure and looks great, like original equipment.
I read an earlier review about how much lighter the gray color was. I have a dark gray dash and the color of the piece is slightly lighter, but hardly noticeable. The manufacturer might have adjusted their color to get closer to original equipment color. I couldn't be happier with the results.
The adapter fit like a glove.
I was very displeased with the color though,
It is at least 3 shades lighter than the rest of the dash.
Very satisfied with Crutchfields service, I'll definitely be back!!
