Pros: Easy to use and install
Everything the guy said was true. Absolutely Terrible Instructions! You get wiring instructions from SCI-RC with unit-tells you to wire one way, you get wiring instructions from Scosche they tell you to wire another way, then you have the downloaded diagram from SCI-RC and it is different from the other two. No Where Does Crutchfield State "only follow the Scosche wiring instructions , SCI-RC does not know you have the Scosche kit". The diagram that shows you to cut the pink wire looks like it wants you to cut the pink wire from right handle bars, which i did and then had to repair. Crutchfield could have eliminated all these problems by sending an email explaining not to cut wire from right handle bars and to follow only the wiring instructions from Scosche. They sell you all the stuff you need for your particular motorcycle/vehicle then dont even have the courtesy to let you know about all th conflicting instructions.
Cons: poor instructions from Crutchfield on the products they soldCrutchfield response on March 30, 2015 We're sorry to hear that the multiple sets of instructions created problems for you. We've added a warning note during checkout to alert future customers that they should use the wiring instructions that come with this kit. They could've helped you figure this out and saved you a lot of time and frustration.
Very easy to use , fit very well and easy to mount
Worked great, easy install.
I read reviews before selecting this kit, there were a few that had some issues, but I had no issues at all. Worked exactly as it was supposed to, and does the job intended.....
Good product. Needs better instructions. Should come with screws to secure brackets to side of radio.
Cons: Poor instructions.
Great mounting bracket but the harness needs extra wiring to make the handlebar controls work. Shipping was great. It was delivered to me in less than a week for free! To Hawaii!
Pros: Mounting bracket was sturdy.
Cons: Wiring harness doesn't fit my 2011 road glide.
The dash kit itself worked great! The handlebar controller harness was crap!
WORKED OUT GREAT EASY TO INSTALL
Exactly what you need to hook up an aftermarket radio to a Harley. The only thing you have to do is ground the pink wire that the tech support said I didn't have to do until I did it and called them back and they said sure you have to ground it.
Pros: No wiring resistors into harness.
Cons: Trying to figure out where and what pink wire to ground.
They had to send a second wiring harness from the manufacturer. Otherwise would have rated 5 star.
If this were any easier it'd install itself.
Pros: Looks great, simple instruction, easy install.
Cons: It didn't come with free bubble gum.
Very easy to install in my Harley. It plugs right into the PAC utilize the thimb controls.
Pros: Perfect fit and easy to install Plugs directly into the PAC unit Great fit
Cons: Just a suggestion on Road Glides - You will have to slide the radio adapter plate up in the fairing and then attach the side brackets.
Could not be happier!!!
Pros: Wiring harness comes with pre soldered resistors for factory controls, complete plug and play!
Installation was pretty simple. I have the Strong Arm fairing mounts, so it was a little tight (mounts had to be unbolted at top). This is definitely the best product I could find for the money. Similar products marketed to Harley owners are way overpriced.
Pros: Easy install. Priced right.
Cons: Let you know if there are any in 1000 miles.
Terrible fit. There is no way explained to actually HOLD the head unit in between the two side pieces they supply. You are supposed to use their 4 supplied screws to attach each side piece to the front bezel, ok I get that. Then use the factory 4 screws from your old Harley radio to attach those sides to the stock mounting holes in the Harley cage (inside the fairing), ok got that too... but apparently the head unit is supposed to just magically hover there between the rails????? Come on! There are two holes on each side that line up with screw holes on my aftermarket head unit, but there were no screws supplied or ANY mention about that in the manual. In fact, the manual says to remove and NOT USE the factory cage (that HOLDS the head unit up!!).
The opening of the front plastic bezel is too small to insert the factory cage, yet a little too large to have a good fit around the head unit inserted from the back (if you could support it somehow). It wouldn't work with the Kenwood trim ring around the stereo either... so you have this ugly black plastic thing that makes your face plate not sit correctly... come on!
I bagged it all up and got my RMA online.
Pros: Includes with a cheap Harley harness adapter ready made for the PAC SWI-RC steering wheel controller (sold separately). So you don't have to try and screw with resistors or cut wires (Oh wait - except you still have to cut a pink wire on your harness and ground it -- heck no!)
Cons: Terrible instructions, cheap plastic front bezel, doesn't look good, nor fit correctly, can't use aftermarket cages that come with your new stereo (you know the sleeve designed to hold your head unit in place? Yeah, you CAN'T use them). No splash guard available. Stay away from these cheapos, get a kit with metal shelf that allows you to use the cage, inserted from the front, then secured from the back, so you can mount your head unit properly.
It works good in my Electra Glide...
Great product for adding aftermarket radio in a Harley Roadglide. I will recommend this product to my friends and customers.
Easy install, had to modify to fit my stereo, but still easy. Would buy this again way before hog tunes and others.
Pros: Designed to fit Harley's
Cons: Didn't fit for my Kenwood, but was easy to shave it and make it work.
Fits and looks clean. Harness limits your choice of steering wheel control unit to one model.
Pros: clean look
Cons: 1. needs a splash shield at this price point 2. Harness is only for 98 up bikes 3. Needs to be available alone no harness 4. Needs a splash shield either with it or an option Would not buy again
Makes for a nice clean install on my Alpine for my Harley... but the wiring harness seems poorly constructed. Connections are crimped, not soldered. I am having trouble with the built in connector for the SWI-RC controller for the handlebar controls. Volume up and down are erratic. PAC-Audio (makers of the SWI-RC) technical support told me they are having problems with users attempting to use this kit and instructed me to make my own harness following the diagrams on their site.
Pros: Looks great installed!
Cons: Poor harness may be the cause of erratic handle bar controls!

No, the integration into the stock grip controls is not there. The plug only allows me to wire it into the stock harness for power and sound. [ ERIN May 08, 2014 ]
Yes, all the hand controls worked . [ DAVID May 07, 2014 ]
Crutchfield sells AAA quality products and is my source for audio and video. Unfortunately this product is not worth purchasing. It fits well and is a great price. However it is plastic. Coming thru the highways of Maryland last summer on a 2500 mile ride it totally came apart. I had to stop and unsure the radio so I didn't blow any fuses on the bike. I had only had the product 2-1/2 weeks. And it was N/G. Hopefully Crutchfield will sell the Hawgwired version. All metal and WELL WORTH the extra money. Don. Connecticut. [ DONALD May 07, 2014 ]
Worked great on my 2012 Road Glide. All controls fully functional. Might take 2 sets of hands to program it though. [ JOSH May 07, 2014 ]
There's an additional harness that's not provided that you will have to order to operate with thumb controls. This was found out after purchasing and reading the instruction guide. [ KENYATI May 07, 2014 ]
I had to buy another adapter but yes you can. [ PAUL D May 07, 2014 ]
