This was a perfect fit to replace the existing area. Simply change over the vents and it snaps in.
First, the top border of the kit protrudes a little. There is also a gap in the top border. Second the opening is just right for some radios, but not all. Some radios need a wider opening, like mine to work right. In my case I had to rip the little bottom panel of the radio to use some features. Third, Crutchfield may have to think about making brackets for this car, A Mitsubishi Lancer, without Rockford Fosgate Radio. The brackets doesn't match the new opening without some tweaking. The installer make a work around solution, but it took him an hour of work.
Pros: Good Material, but they have to address the top border issue.
Cons: Maybe Scosche or Crutchfield must include new brackets. The factory brackets doesn't match the new opening.
Perfect fit on Lancer 2009. Like OEM.
Pros: Easy fit. No modifications on Lancer 2009.
Product was shipped fast n fit perfect
Pros: Easy n great fit
Does exactly what it is designed to do. Fit great in the dash, easy to install. Only downside is that there were no instructions in the box, but it was pretty self explanatory. Little difficult to pull the air conditioner vents out of the old unit, but it wasnt that bad. Also, there is a ribbon cable that connects your emergency flashers and seat belt indicators to the original faceplate of the factory head unit. This ribbon cable had me confused, but it turns out you can just disconnect it and leave it there, the harness in the back is where it gets its power, the ribbon cable simply connects it to your factory display.
Pros: Fits correctly, not too difficult to install
Cons: No instructions, but easy to find instructions online if you get stuck.
This piece is great. Got it in the mail and was super excited to pop it in my lancer. Installation was a breeze although I did sand the edges a bit to fit my power akoustik double din HU. Otherwise looks really nice. Fast 2 day shipping from Crutchfield great service as always.
Pros: Looks good, comes with the clips to install it, solid piece.
Cons: Sticks up on some edges not entirely flushave with the rest of the dash, and some minor sanding to fit.
Perhaps it's the cheep clips, or just poor build quality, but this will not stay clipped in. Transferring the vents was a real pain as well. While it was difficult to remove them from the original molding, this one won't clip on and hold them in place. The top portion also sags down and looks very unprofessional. I replaced this with a different product that looks a million times better.
Pros: works, at a bare minimum
Cons: doesn't fit properly, looks bad
Might be better with a radio that doesn't have a volume knob, but it is recessed too far for my liking.
Looks better than the factory bezel.
Great fit, perfect factory match
Awesome fitment, looks way better then stkck. More aggressive looking. Love it! A++++
Nice looking radio dash trim. The fit is okay, the top trim is not perfect, but no huge gaps overall. Looks OEM-ish enough for me. Looks nice with my double DIN head unit. The color is a shade darker then the rest of my dash which made it stand out a little. You have to adjust & play with the head unit's bracket for tilt to minimize the gap around the trim.
Pros: Fitment, quality.
Cons: A shade darker than my dash.
This was the best radio receiver kit I have ever used and I have installed a few in the past looks amazing matches my interior seamlessly... I installed the kenwood ddx7701hd and looks better in my dash then the factory nav
Pros: Looks factory, fit perfectly
Cons: Nothing a+
I wish it were a little better made. I put this in my 2014 Lancer Gt, and for the most part it fits in just as good as the factory piece. There is a small gap at the top and the finish isn't quite the same but it's close enough that no one else would notice.
Pros: Put a nice 2Din radio in my dash. Works in the 2014 models.
Cons: Looks a bit cheap to me.
Sadly I was unimpressed with this product. The clips lined up with the stock ones no problem, however the color nor the texture match my dash. Also the screws to hold the tray (I installed a single din) were not anywhere to be found. The top did not line up well with my dash, there is a noticeable edge. 2010 Lancer
Pros: It fit. It was free.
Cons: Does not match dash.
Looks great and pops right in. The design flows with the rest of the interior and the color matches. Overall solid construction.
Pros: easy install, fits like stock
Cons: small clips break ease, not a big deal if you are carefull
Not a great build quality
Cons: Dash kit looked VERY cheep. I went with another brand.
Anyone who knocks this dash kit is not installing properly (which is hard to do, it's incredibly easy) or they're missing pieces from removing the original dash. Fits great, and looks great. I had no problems at all.
Everything fit well, couple minor issues like the snaps that lock it in place. It had one half broken off snap lock when I received it. However it had several that lock it into place and the broken one didn't really seem to matter on fit and function. You have to remove your heater vents from your stock unit and install them into this one. I would rather have been able to keep my Stock unit complete and this have its own vents, but not a big deal.
Pros: It fits and does its job, supplied for free with my stereo purchased from Crutchfield
Cons: Had a half broken locking stab when received. The locking tabs are pretty flimsy and do easily break but once its all snapped in it is fine and solid. The top right corner doesn't completely fit the contour of my dash but I work in plastics for a living. If you just strike that corner (before you put it in) with a propane torch it will take care of it no issues. Also mine wasn't deflashed very well so before I installed it I used a hobby knife and removed the little bit of excess flash.
Overall great product
Pros: Easy to install, fast installation
Cons: Fit to the upper dash is a little off but overall good fit
Does what it says! Double Din sits behind kit FYI!
No problems at all. I like it.
I got the clarion CX501 (double-din) and it fit perfectly. I don't know what anyone else was talking about, because it was easy to install and fit great. I love it.
Pros: Fits, color matches, looks stock, seamless, I love it
This thing fit my car well. Not sure what the other people had problems with. I had just a regular Double-DIN Kenwood CD player. Fit well and looked pretty good compared to stock. Maybe everyone else had different players with different dimensions, but I didn't have any problems at all.
Does not fit JVC Arsenal KW-ADV794, and its not even close to fitting. Beware if you buy a DVD screen for this unit
Cons: Not for Double Din!!
Great product perfect fit looks good.
Excellent, easy installation and great looks. If you install a regular DIN radio it even gives you additional shelf space. Simple to follow step-by-step instructions.
The in-dash kit fit perfectly! I installed a Sont Xplode receiver with no problems at all. The
instructions that came with the kit was very helpful and when used step by step, produced
an end result looking professionally installed.
Fits my car perfectly with a double din gps unit. I think peoples problem with
this is that the unit does not go through the unit it goes behind it. Unlike the
Metra kit it does not have the gap on the top of the unit.
Kit fits perfect in my 2010 Lancer, but the 2 different DVD players (double din unites) I have tried, absolutely no way fits through the kit. I ended up buying a Metra kit and both units installed perfectly.
The kit fits in the dash but the JVC KDR-610 that I ordered would not fit into the hole in the dash kit. I had to find another kit.
Product has a nice fit and looks original. We had some small issues with the way that the
aftermarket stereo fit in the opening but did not have to modify the plastic in any way to make
it work. We had to remove the plastic trim ring from the stereo and make a neoprene seal to
fit in its place to make it look finished and close up the gaps. I think that they could do a
better job with the cubby that fits underneath. The mold relifef marks and square holes in the
back can be seen easily. (noticable in the pictures even on this website) A little more
attention to cleaning up that part and it would be awesome.
I got this kit for free along with the Alpine CDE-102. At first I wasn't too pleased with the fit but as it turns out it was user error. The trim ring on the receiver actually needs to be removed, otherwise it will not sit flush in the dash at the top part of the kit. With that corrected, the kit now fits great and looks pretty much as if it were oem and I'm very pleased. If I had to nitpick, the top left corner has a little excess plastic from the molding. It can easily be removed though and isn't really a big deal.
The kit fit my dash in a 2010 Lancer. But the radio (Kenwood Excelon KDC-X993) Didn't fit the kit.
