EFX 10-gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit

Overview

Our take on the EFX 10-gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit

Make sure you enjoy the full potential of your new amplifier by hooking it up with quality power and signal connections.

This wiring kit does not include speaker wire, so you'll need to purchase that separately to complete your amp installation. This kit includes patch cables for a 2-channel or mono amp — you'll need to add cables for multi-channel amps.

Make sure you enjoy the full potential of your new amplifier by hooking it up with quality power and signal connections.

This wiring kit from EFX includes 10-gauge power and ground cables, a stereo RCA audio cable, and all the accessories you'll need to connect your new amp. Just add whatever speaker wire you need, and you're ready to go. Designed for amplifiers with a fuse rating of up to 30 amperes.

quality kit. would have like a slightly longer power cable. Maybe another 2-3 ft. In a wrangler it is easiest to run cables along the roll bar. But that makes the cable path a little longer.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Uses this kit to install a powered subwoofer and it did the job great. Very convenient having everything in one package. Had to dig up a pair of connectors to fit the ground line and power line because the supplied connectors werent of a large enough guage. But perfect otherwise!

Pros: Everything in 1 kit, little scavenging

Cons: couple connectors not of large enough guage.

Almost everything

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm pretty happy with this kit, but it needs a bit more than what it comes with to get it working. The end connections included in the kit won't work for the power and ground cables. Ring connectors included were fine, but all the included spade connectors are way too small (they're for the amp signal cable I guess). You'll need to buy some larger spade connectors to hook up to your sub/amp. I also couldn't get the power cable all the way back into the trunk of my Subaru Legacy wagon, which is fair because it's a wagon. I extended the power cable with some standard 10g split copper electrical wire from a hardware store and an awful soldering job. I don't know if that's something that you're supposed to do, but it worked fine for me.

Pros: Free!

Cons: Needs better spade connections, could be a little longer for me (probably fine for any car though).

Decent Kit, Garbage Connectors

Written by: Jeff from Missoula, MT on July 20, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this installation kit to install a powered sub that I also purchased here on Crutchfield. Overall, it was a decent kit, but I felt for the premium price, it could have been a bit better. If you're looking for a relatively complete kit, this will get the job done. The power and ground wire quality is pretty good, definitely a solid 10GA and of reasonable quality and sufficient length. The included RCA cable was also of decent quality and looked nice. But, that's about where my satisfaction with the kit ends, though. The turn on wire, while it works, appears to be of lower quality 18GA than I expected. The connectors were worthless, low quality junk...I ended up replacing all of them with higher quality connectors. (Plus, it only came with one large 10GA connector...you need two for power and ground.) The loom for inside the engine bay works...but it was maddening to try and get the power cable fully encased, it practically felt like I was trying to wrap the cable in fabric or something. The included zip ties broke when I zipped them up, so obviously these were of inferior quality as well. In hindsight, I might have been better off paying less for an RCA cable, fuse box and 10GA power/ground cables ala-carte as I ended up having to provide my own accessories anyway. Fortunately, I had my own accessories...so I didn't have to make any special trips, but you might if they don't perform like they should and you don't have these things sitting around.

Pros: Good quality power and ground cables Decent quality RCA cable No noise induced via RCA cable

Cons: Poor quality connectors Poor quality zip ties Turn on wire is a bit cheap

EFX 10-gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit

Written by: J man from Mullica Hill, N.J. on June 13, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All you really need for a 125-watt sub. The cables are very flexible and well insulated. The covering feels soft, yet seems to be tough. Cables appear to be silver plated copper and were plenty long enough for my very large Tundra Crewmax! Seem to be high quality and since they were included with my sub at no charge, I couldn't be more satisfied!

Pros: Very flexible. Easy to work with. Fuse and battery terminal connector already part of the wire assembly. Generous lengths. Free with sub!

Cons: None.

The fact that this was included with my subwoofer purchase is great. Installation was fairly easy. I did not have to go through the firewall which would have been very difficult on my vehicle. Aside from the fact that this kit was a free add on to my Sound Ordnance sub, it is a really good little kit. The wires are heavy gauge with crimp on connectors and an inline fuse on the power wire. Includes heavy ground wire and remote turn on wire. Also has a good RCA connection cable.

Pros: Has what you need. Good heavy gauge wiring.

Cons: If there were a con, maybe the included tie wraps could be a little longer :)

Some problems

Written by: Lee from Hickory, NC on May 19, 2014

The fuse was loose in the fuse holder. When the amp turned on the voltage dropped to 3 volts. I thought I had a bad amp. I started measuring the resistance along the cable and found the loose fuse holder. I squeezed the holder on both forks with pliers and reinserted the fuse. No voltage drop now.

Pros: Free. Everything I needed to connect the amp

Cons: Loose fuse holder took an hour to troubleshoot.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was plenty of wire to run the power wire from the battery to the sub under the drivers seat in my 03 tacoma, and there was enough wire I could've run it behind the rear seat. The only issue I had with it was i had to slightly file the loop on the power wire to get it to fit on the battery, and I had to put a bigger loop on the ground to fit on the seat bolt.

Pros: Value quality

Cons: May need slight modifying for some vehicles.

If you are running power from your battery to to the trunk of your 2004 Toyota Avalon then this 17' cable will not be enough. I wish my salesperson would have taken notice of that fact. Also the end wire hook-ups are cheap. I also did not need the remote wire in this kit or RCA cables as my factory stereo. Other than that, no other complaints. Better to find out exactly what you need before you buy this kit.

Pros: Everything is there that you need. Good cables.

Cons: Cheaply made wiring components.

Scosche 10ga. Amp wire kit

Written by: Bob from Maui Hawaii on October 15, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This amp kit uses oxygen free wire, which means a almost pure copper. The 10ga. Was easy to run in my 2013 rogue. The chart gave me the correct size wire to run with my 250 watt amp. 8ga would be over kill and 12 ga. Would be pushing it. I checked a lot of kit makers most used alum. with copper plating on there wire. You can't beat pure copper for that added edge. Does it make a difference, my car is wired with copper! Price, I could have been 15% cheaper but you got your back covered by this company

Pros: Excellent quality

Wiring Kit

Written by: Jeff from Salt Lake on August 2, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this kit and suppose can only blame myself for poor planning, but it would be helpful if it provided the same length of ground wire as power lead. I used it for a marine application, and most amplifiers spec taking power and putting ground directly on the battery in a marine application. I used the power lead, but had to go buy a longer ground cable, so I could only use one of the wires provided.

Pros: Nice quality wire

Cons: Give us longer ground cable

Not worth it

Written by: Craig from Lexington on August 2, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The connectors are pretty shabby and I had to end up using my own. My amp would sometimes work and sometimes not. I could take voltages and they would appear okay until placed under a load. Worked with Crutchfield tech support over the months and they sent to replacement amps. This didn't fix problem either time. Bought a spool of wire to finally trouble shoot the problem. The fuse housing would not grab the fuses very tightly. Took a pair of pliers and smashed the clips to ensure a firmer fit and all seems to work now.

Reviews for the EFX 10-gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit

Written by: illiam R from Rowlett, Texas on June 6, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very helpful but not comprehensive. It includes all wiring and some connecters but did not include connecters large enough to fit the battery wire or ground wire. I found connecters locally large enough for both wires but the fork was to large to go on the Kenwood amp. I had to cut and file the fork so it would fit the amp. Sub speaker wires and connecters are not included, have to be purchased separately.

Pros: Most of what is needed, is included in this kit and it is very helpful.

Cons: Some connecters are not included.

I used this kit to wire my Sound Ordnance amp in my Toyota Tacoma but found the the connectors were throw-away. In fact, the connectors in this kit don't seem to match the wire gauges at all. If you go with it, plan on using you own connectors. I also found the wire sheathing only good for 1 wire. If you're trying wrap the power cable and the ground cable it's not going to fit.

Pros: good length and size

Cons: poor connectors

Supposed to be the complete package to do the job, right? So then why did I have to make a trip to O'Reilly to pick up the correct size spade connectors to attach to the ends of the 10-g cables? A nice wiring kit with one exception which I will detail in the con section.

Pros: Great wire and plenty long enough to place the sub under my rear seat on my 4dr Wrangler.

Cons: The crimp connectors are junk, kind of impossible to put a 10 gauge wire into an 18 gauge connector. I replaced them with 10 gauge and filed the width down to fit in the screw clamps.

Written by: bikercr from Amherst, MA on December 26, 2012

Very good quality wiring (8 AWG for power and ground), Power lead is long enough for compact car battery-to-trunk. Lacking some crimp connectors, however, and shouldn't be matched with devices that can't accommodate larger gauges. This was matched to Sound Ordnance sub with small posts.

Pros: Excellent quality wiring

Cons: Needs better selection of crimp-on connectors.

Pros: Price, quality, nearly everything needed for professional-looking installation

I used this kit to install the JBL GT basspro 12 powered subwoofer in a 2000 Nissan Altima. The wire looks to me like high quality wire and after instalation the sub worked great and there was no static or noise like you can sometimes get from cheap cables. The only thing that I wish it came with would be a couple of 10 gauge spade connectors for the connection to the amp. It was frustrating (and totally my fault) to have to run to Pep-Boys for a box of spade connectors to finish the install. It gets 5 stars though because it worked out great for my car. The only thing I would caution someone on is that the powere cable was just long enough for my car. If you drive a big older car it might come up short.

Pros: Quality kit at a great price

Cons: I'd like it if the power cable was a couple of feet longer

This being my first set of sub cables I have ever owned or used I am sure my review may be a bit limited. Overall the cables worked great and allowed me to hook my BassLink up to my Ford Focus. Some of the clips / plugs they give you are limited and did not fit which was not a big deal as a direct connection worked fine. Since I got these free with my purchase really can't complain.

Pros: Cable seems of strong quality, was easy to run, colors are colorful.

Cons: The Power and the ground cable could have been a tad bit longer. Both were long enough for my run, but I could see in a bigger car or SUV or something it might be a bit more tight.

I bought this to install an amplifier in my Jeep Wrangler. There was plenty of wiring included, and the quality was OK for a kit at this price. After running all of the wiring, I began hooking it all up, only to find that a 10 guage "fork" was not included...I had everything I needed to complete the project except for a way to terminate the 10 guage power wire to power the amplifier. Had I known I'd have to make a trip to the hardware store, I'd have bought everything there for less money.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This wiring kit made the install of my MTX subwoofer quite easy... Wire lengths were sufficient and cable quality was high...

Pros: High quality and good length

Cons: none

Can't beat it for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Can't beat it for the price, it was included in powered sub that I bought. It did the job and I have no complaints. As far as Crutchfield goes they are simply the best in the business.

Pros: Great value

Cons: none

EFX 10-gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If I hadn't received the kit for free with the purchase of an Infinity BassLink, I would be asking for a refund. I brought the kit and the BassLink to a high-end audio shop to install in my Mercedes. Due tot he crappy quality of the in-line fuse holder, the sub power kept cutting out which caused them to spend more time troubleshooting. Not good when you are paying them by the hour. It is also a rule of thumb in installations that your system is only as strong as the wiring used. I suggest sticking with higher quality kit to save you some trouble and frustration.

Pros: It was free

Cons: Low Quality. In-line fuse would maintain a secure connection.

Cheap

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was given as a free wiring kit when I bought the Infinity BassLink Subwoofer. Was told by installers that it was a very cheap kit and we didn't even use it.

Crutchfield response on November 17, 2011 Thanks for providing feedback about the wiring kit. This is one of the more affordable amplifier wiring kits that we carry. We always recommend the best wiring you can afford for your system, and this kit will certainly perform well for budget minded customers.

Recieved this with the Sound OrdnanceT B-8PT(also reviewed). This product gets 4 stars instead of 5 because I have yet to test it with other subs that recommend/use this size gauge kit. That said, it works great. Plenty of cord length left when running from positive terminal reciever, under panels/carpet, and coming up the vehicle's cargo spare tire cover (closest to rear seats, had enough to run at closest to tailgate door). Even fit through the grommet of the firewall(once grommet was drilled to fit gauge size snug). Not having to drill into the firewall of this vehicle is a major +
