Product Research

Features

Remote Level Control: The Scosche EFX RLC is a universal remote level control for your amplified car stereo system. It allows you to adjust the level of your amplifier from the front seat. This remote level control is simply connected between your car stereo's RCA output and the RCA input on your aftermarket amplifier, using a stereo RCA cable (sold separately). The Scosche EFX RLC only has a stereo left/right input and output, so its perfect for a sub-channel level control. If you need it to control additional channels, then you will need to purchase Y-adapters (sold separately). All channels connected to the RLC will share the same level control.

Mounting Options: The Scosche EFX RLC includes two screws to mount the remote level control under the dash.

Q
can you use this to control the volume of an old home stereo reciever?

A
Greetings Dr. Lyle, and thank you for your question. It is capable. What your older stereo would need to have is one of three things. One it would need the monitor loop (preout/main in). Two it would have to be a seperate preamp, power amp combo. Third, it would have to be a receiver with an RCA out, then to a secondary amplifier's RCA input.

Q
Can knob be taken out of housing and knob be taken off? Trying to find a universal knob that I can mount in a part of my dash so I can stick the knob holder through and put knob back on.

Yep! The knob just pulls off and there's a nut that holds the rest of it to the front plate. The housing just snaps together, pull it apart and there's a PCB card about 3/4"x1" (coming from memory here so not 100% certain). I mounted mine in one of the accessory switch block off plates with a little bit of cutting ;)

Yes you can take the housing off. I did this to mine to fit in the dash face for easy reach in my truck. Drill a small hole the width of the stem and used a small nut on the stem behind the dash and in front of the dash and knob slips on perfect.

I was going to do that but found a more suitable location for the whole thing, working good so far
brian keith  Jul 26, 2021
A
It is a standard potentiometer setup. The knob slides off the shaft, if that's what you're asking.

Q
My car does not have RCA outputs. Will this product still work?
bbraught  May 17, 2019

A
I use this as a patch through from my radio to my sub amplifier. It works like a volume/cut off when I wish to throttle down the lows in certain situations or songs. It could work for any addon amplification. But the signal has to come into and go out. If you don't have RCA outputs you will have to either try another product or rig it differently than I explained above which is what they are intended for. Sorry

Q
Can I use this in line after the amp (speaker outputs) to control volume to a set of speakers?
arthur  Aug 23, 2018

A
No, you'll need a volume control for that. This is only to control the line level voltage-

Q
My Kenwood amp doesn't have a plug in for a remote like most other amps have . Is this basically the same thing as the other bass level remotes ?

A
Yes, it just controls level coming into the amp. I found it easier than the ones amp specific, because you can just install it in-line right at the head unit where it going to be mounted anyway. Works great

A
Yes it is. It works fantastic for the price

Q
Is this actually cutting power the the sub channel or is it more of an eq knob?
dean  Aug 30, 2017
1 answer
A
This is not cutting the power the amp gets, but it is cutting down the level, or the power, of the audio being fed into the amp. And that cuts its volume levels of the bass audio you hear. HTH! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
How would you connect this to use this as a master control for the car stereo volume instead of as a subwoofer level adjustment?
michael  Apr 18, 2016

A
I have actually used this with the rca Bluetooth receiver. the BT plugs into the input on this volume control and the out goes right to the amp bypassing any need for a head unit. I just use my ipod, phone as the music player.
ezekiel  Apr 19, 2016
A
I'm not sure that is even possible seeing as it is made for adjusting the level of power being sent to the amp via the RCA wires. I purchased a receiver that comes with a remote control so I can control volume without focusing on the deck while driving, It's right in the palm of your hand!

Q
how many watts is it rated for? What is the impedence? How many Ohms?
donald  Sep 18, 2015

A
This is just plugged into the RCA jack in line and run to your amp, it's not powered by your amplifier. Hope this helps.
james  Sep 18, 2015
A
This doesn't require rating on Watts or Impedence. It simply attenuates the Pre-amp signal from your stereo head unit. If turned all the way up it allows the full strength signal produced by your head unit to pass. If you turn the dial down it reduces the signal from your head unit before it gets to the amp. It's like a volume control for select channels
