I know this is a generic bracket and it is designed to fit several models, with that said it mounted nothing like the instructions stated. Brian from Lake in the Hills, IL on 11/6/2016

1997 Dodge Stratus
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was OK once I broke off all the extra tabs and stopped by the hardware store to get longer bolts. Really only lined up one way for mounting in the door. Not perfect alignment, but close enough where the factory screws could work. All in all, part of a good solution for upgrading a '97 Dodge.

Pros: Couldn't have mounted the new speakers without these brackets.

Cons: Comes with tiny nuts and bolts. They weren't long enough to work with the Kicker speakers and I had to get longer ones at the hardware store. Had to use additional washers too as nut was being pulled through the edge padding of the speaker.

Incredibly versatile, easy install

Dan from Baltimore, MD on 11/6/2016

1998 Toyota Camry LE
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These brackets are incredibly versatile. There are so many ways you could align the bracket to make it fit with your car, I would be shocked if anyone had troubles with it. The included instructions were simple to follow. I used my car's factory screws (that had held my factory speakers) to attach this bracket to my vehicle's front door. I did follow the recommendation and snap off a few extraneous plastic tabs that would have gotten in the way later.

Pros: Lots of mounting possibilities, probably no reason to have to drill new holes.

Cons:

Does not fit 2006 Toyota Tundra with JBL system. If you have the JBL system don't buy these adapters they are not even close. Crutchfield needs to do more research before recommending these brackets. Even tech support said they will fit. There not even close.

Cons: Junk

2008 MINI Cooper
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Totally worthless for my 2008 Mini Copper. Didn't line up with any of the holes already in my doors. I ended up using the old frame of the bad speaker for mounting my 5.25 inch speakers in. Took a little more work, but was well worth it. Good thing the cost was $0.00 or they would of been sent back for a refund instead of ending up in the garbage can...

Pros: none other then no cost...

Cons: Didn't work and pointless. Why send them if they don't function as intended

They did not work with the 2010 Subaru legacy. Not sure what the purpose of this bracket is for this car since they do not line up with the factory screws holes. Better off just redrilling the new speakers to the door than use these. I ended up taking an oscillating saw to my original factories and reusing the housing.

DOES NOT FIT

Alan J from Canton, OH on 10/30/2016

1999 Toyota Camry LE
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product was chosen automatically for my vehicle and was supposed to fit the stock holes on my door. supposed to eliminate the need to drill though the door adding a new hole unfortunately this product does not fit a stock 99 Camry. Do not buy this product for a 99 Camry if you aren't willing to drill a hole through your door. When you line this bracket up to the top stock hole on the 99 Carmy, (there's three, but it's not an equilateral triangle. the two sides are slightly longer than the base) you have to really force the next one to fit, then the third one is so far off there's nothing on the bracket to even go there. You will have to choose a hole on the bracket that doesn't line up with your stock hole, and drill through your door. At least you only have to drill one hole instead of all 3. In addition to the the bracket not fitting, the speaker wire adapters given are way too short to reach the stock fitting. You will have to cut the tape around the stock fitting harness, and pull the stock wiring down approximately 5 inches. Another problem with this bracket is that the screws that come with the bracket, not the self tapping, the ones to hold the speaker to the bracket, literally start to push through the back of the bracket once you tighten them. if you tighten them too much, they will go straight through the bracket. poor choice of materials. overall, this product does not live up to the expectations I had when I purchased it.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: You will have to drill a hole in your door. The bracket and speaker wiring not adapters don't fit. You pay for what you get.

This mounting bracket does not fit into the original speaker housings for the front speakers in my 2002 Durango...but does fit onto the Kicker speakers I bought....it will require some customization to make it work...Crutchfield instructions implied the bracket would fit...bracket instructions said to use the quick clips in the original door holes without the factory speaker housing...but that appears to be in the path of the window in the down position...

These adapters worked, for that I'm satisfied. However the clips and screws to attach the speaker to the adapter interfered with my Pathfinder's original mounting bracket at bit. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Received these brackets with a set of 5 1/4" speakers for the rear doors of a 2003 Blazer. The brackets didn't even close to fit the factory brackets they were meant to accomodate. This brackets also require the speaker to be bolted to the bracket and left a lot of bolt length sticking out. I never got to actually fitting the door panel back on, but with the amount of bolt sticking out I think contact with the panel would be very possible.

Pros: For my application nothing.

Cons: Did not fit, long bolts, bolts are cheap soft metal.

Paul M from Alexandria, LA on 8/26/2016

2007 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These may be fine for some applications, but if using for a Wrangler JK soundbar, try something else, or know you will need to modify it before you start. The hole on the longer tab will not line up with the factory hole. You will need to drill a new hole. I ended up self-tapping the factory screw through the plastic which then caused alignment issues. Instructions should be more clear, especially re: possible non-fit and tab removal.

Pros: I got it to work.

Cons: I am not satisfied with the final application.

Anonymous from Charlottesville VA on 8/19/2016

One should understand that to install on a 2004 Dakota Crew Cab you must use the OEM adapter or you will not have the clearance required to install your speakers. The kit provided by Crutchfield is not a replacement for the OEM mounts. The tabs on the bracket were too thick and would not clip into the OEM mount and the bracket wasn't thick enough to use on it's own. To install I had to break off every tab and then mount the adapter ring to the OEM mount. The HDW included was of little value. I made a trip to the HDW store to pick up some small flat head metal type screws and some longer machine screws and then after drilling some holes in the OEM mount I was in business. I then was able to flush mount the bracket to the OEM mount and then flush mount the speaker to the bracket/OEM mount. The speakers bought were 6 1/2" and described as a fit however If one were to take on this task I would recommend a speaker that is described as 6 3/4". If mine had been a bit larger i.e. 6 3/4" I could have directly used the OEM mount by just drilling some holes in it and mounting the speakers direct to the OEM mount.

Pros:

Cons: Tabs too thick and do not line up with factory holes

Even though it's specified for Dakota installations, it won't fit without modification. The ears on it are about 5 mm too long. Also, when installed as instructed it flexes. That issue evens out once you've mounted it in place, but it feels cheap. Also, there is no gasket provided, so small gaps are inevitable.

Pros: soft but durable plastic making modifications a cinch, many usable options, lots of included hardware, better than old school wood or abs fabrication.

As expected, the adapter was a perfect fit for the 6.5" JVC speakers I ordered. However, it did not fit the speaker mount in my JBL-equipped 2006 Toyota Sequoia. These were included for free since the site said the Infinity Reference X REF-6502ix speakers wouldn't fit my 2005 Altima. The speakers themselves came with mounting brackets that actually worked better, so I didn't have to use these. They wouldn't have worked if I had needed them to either because the screw holes didn't line up.

Cons: The screw holes didn't line up with the speakers and the door.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The 6" speakers I bought were listed as "fit without modification" but the speaker mounting holes were about 1/16" too wide. Enough that I could not mount the speakers without drilling the speaker frame or the OEM mounting plate. After about an hour of fiddling with the SAC-656 brackets, I was finally able to attach them to the door and the speakers to the SAC-656 brackets. I had to use the extra plastic pieces as spacers so the speakers wouldn't hit the screws holding the SAC-656 brackets.

Pros: were useful

Cons: because the speakers were so close to the OEM mounting plate size, the SAC-656 bracket screws were in the way when I tried to attach the speakers.

Flimsy, not compatible with the 5 1/4 focal speakers

Steve from Manteca, CA on 2/24/2016

Talked to Crutchfield because the speaker had only a 32nd inch holding on the the 5 1/4 speaker. After a lengthy conversation it was suggested to use 1/4 plywood to cut my own template. Because he also found that the speaker plate was too large for the focal 5 1/4 speakers. He offered to take them back but I chose to go with his suggestion and it worked out for the best. Hopefully Crutchfield in the future will correct the problem with these speaker brackets.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Despite being a little more expensive, I went with Crutchfield and these Mounting Brackets for a few reasons: First, the appearance as well as description of the item imparted a sense of sturdiness I was looking for. Second, it included all the hardware and some nice instructions, just in case. I wasn't disappointed. Compared to the other products I'd been looking into, the Scosche brackets are top quality. Sturdy and built to last, not of the thin plastic I'd seen from others. They came in right on time, and in a quality package. I hooked up the speakers and mounted them in less time than I expected. 2013 Hyundai Veloster
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These adapters were recommended to install Kicker 40CS654's as 2013 Hyundai Veloster rear seat left and right speakers. No adapter was needed for the left-hand speaker, and the adapters were too small to fit the cutout on the right-hand side (third door) - too small even if I had drilled the door. I ended up sandwiching the inner door skin between both the adapters (fortunately I didn't need one on the left-hand side) and using the grill supplied with the Kicker to stabilize the assembly. Screws furnished with the adapters were worthlessly small and puny (6-32 x too short) so a couple trips to the hardware store were necessary to get the appropriate hardware. All said and done the installation looks and sounds great, but these adapters are definitely NOT appropriate for this application.

Pros: uhhh...

Cons: wrong size, worthless hardware

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought These adapters for rear door speakers in a 2016 Subaru Forester. I had an extra pair of Polk db5.25's sitting around and decided to install them in the new car. One odd thing is that Subaru installs 5.25 speakers in what appears to be 6.5" holes. No biggie, like I said, I already had these and bought the adapters. These adapters could have not fit the factory hole any better. I didn't have to drill ANY new holes! For the adapter OR the speakers. Made the install quick and easy.

Pros: No drilling holes of any kind in the 2016 Forester. Plenty of existing hole patterns for other cars as well. Made quick easy work out what can be a nightmare job.

Cons: None.

I didn't really needed these for my 1999 Toyota Camry. It doubled the amount of work needed to install the speakers. Plastic ring is barely bigger than door speaker openings. I ended up drilling new holes and using speed clips to mount my new speakers.

Pros:

Cons: The head on the "elevator bolts" to mount the speaker to the ring is really small and could slip out of mounting holes.

Guy M from North Carolina on 1/17/2016

2001 Dodge Dakota
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The installation notes indicated I may have to grind away some plastic at the end of the 3 tabs. For my Dodge Dakota, I did and they "fit somewhat". However, the overall assembly of the original enclosure ring, adaptor, speaker and grill looked kludgey at best and did not work with the door panel. So I punted using these adaptors. Instead I routed a rabbit in the original speaker enclosures and chopped off and reused the metal body ring of the original speakers to sandwich in the new speakers. I used double sided tape to reattach the original cloth grill rings, and the resulting assemblies fit perfectly.

Pros: Good for quick speaker retrofit

Cons: Not good for seamless speaker replacement

I bought Polk 6.5" Speakers. The speaker factory mounting bracket did not line up with this mounting bracket. I spent along time trying to figure everything out on the rear doors. Eventually I went ahead and broke off some tabs from the factory truck bracket and got this bracket to work together but had to use both brackets. This is the only way I could get the speakers installed. I do not know if this is a common or not but it was the only way I could see to get it to work. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used these to install Kicker CS65's. Had to drill one additional hole in each adapter as they did not line up with the factory soundbar clip. The "cinch screws" flange is only a hair larger than the hole and pulled into the adapter upon tightening, which makes me concerned that they may pull thru on a hard bump and let the speaker fall. Had to use some weatherstripping between the adapter and soundbar to prevent rattling from the two plastics(adapter was flat, soundbar not so much). I used the factory jeep grill covers with no problem.

Pros: Does the job, stout plastic, all holes lined up except for one(easy fix)

Cons: Would of liked to have more robust cinch screws

The brackets fit the new speakers themselves just fine but did not line up with the panel the speaker bolts to. I had to drill new holes in the adapter and then it worked. Vehicle was a 02 GMC Envoy

Pros: Fits the new speaker great

Cons: Did not line up with the mounting holes in any orientation

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Worked as designed, the bracket flexes when secured which causes vibration on the low end, I added an RVT silicone gasket and it solved the problem. Also the provided bolt/nut/washer that's included did not work as designed, I secured the adapter to the speaker with 4 of the included self tapping screws. TIP: Pre fit everything and remove all the extra mounting tabs prior to securing to the speaker. Cant really complain about free stuff though.

Pros: Cost, or lack there of.

Cons: suggested speaker mounting hardware not sufficient.

Excellent bracket for OEM speaker replacement

LB Cruiser from Maryland on 12/2/2015

2009 Chevrolet Colorado
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For 2009 Chevy Colorado Extended Cab. The bracket came with hardware. It uses a very small screw (flush screw) to secure the speaker to the bracket. I didn't have to cut the metal on the door. Yes, the metal did extended into the speaker area of the bracket but not far enough to interfere with the speaker so I didn't trim it as suggested in the installation instructions. I used the factory nutplate to start in the installation of the bracket with speaker installed. I centered the speaker in the factory cutout and tightened the first screw in the factory nutplate. Once that was tight, I used two 10 X 3/4 self tapping screws and secured the bracket. Once I tightened the last bracket screw. the speaker popped out due to the flimsy thin flush screw. So I used the self tapping screw, 2 each, and secured the speaker to either the plastic bracket only or the plastic bracket and sheet metal of the door. Speaker held on tight and the previously 4 installed flush screws were left in there since they didn't bother the speaker. I didn't use the flush screws on the other 3 speakers. First speaker installation is always a trial and error installation. Once you figure it out, the rest go smooth.

Pros: Definitely helped on installing after market speakers.

Cons: The only con is the thin flimsy flush screws used to secure the speaker to this bracket.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield sent me two sets of these to install my Kicker 6-1/2s in my 2015 Wrangler Unlimited. They could definitely be better. In the rear soundbar, you have to either keep rotating the brackets until they fit or do some trimming to either the brackets and/or your vehicle. Also, the screws included to hold the brackets to the speakers were a bit short, 2-3 threads more screw would have been perfect and still not interfered with the installation.

Pros: They do attach your speakers to the mounts.

Cons: Oddly shaped for installing into the mounts. Attachment screws to attach brackets to speakers could be longer.

Simply put, these were the wrong brackets for my car (2015 Honda Civic Si Sedan). They came free with the Kicker speakers I had purchased, however, they did not fit. The installer tech was able to reuse the brackets from the factory speakers with some modification.

Pros: Looks like a nice quality product.

Cons: Wrong brackets for my car.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These worked great. But as with many things in, not enough fasteners to mount bracket to speaker (six screws supplied, eight needed.) When I called Tech to remedy problem, the young man tried to convinceme each speaker only needed three. After much discussion, i convinced him he was incorrect. He's sending me another set of brackets that will contain the screws I need to finish install.

Pros: Worked great when supplied with correct number of fasteners.

Cons: Note to Crutchfield - add some extra fasteners. Cheaper in long run.

This bracket was very helpful to make the speaker installation fast and easy. My installation required the long tabs cut off and I also trimmed the other excess ears. After re-installing the door panel on the first door I knew what to do and had the speaker/bracket assembly ready to go right in and completed the install in half the time on the second speaker. Crutchfield is great to provide both brackets and wiring harness adaptors with their products and makes the installs much more enjoyable.

Needed Slight Modification

Stang from OK on 10/30/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The brackets worked fine for the most part, I did have to modify the long tab and cut a quarter inch off so it would fit. I ended up shortening the other two about 1/8 of an inch so it fit smoother. They were a little too thick for the tabs to snap back in. Once I figured out the process for one door, I repeated for each door and the process was quick. Remember to take the rubber ring off the old speakers and apply it to the back of the adapter to reduce rattle before you put it back into the door spacer.

Pros: After modification fit fairly well.

Cons: Needed modification and a bit thicker than stock speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They do what they are supposed to do and are included free with your speaker purchase. With that said, the plastic has a lot of flex to it and you are not going to get a tight seal. You can see the whole bracket bow inward a bit as you torque down the speaker. I use Dynamat on both sides to act as a gasket and element any unwanted sound from the plastic vibrating against the cars metal. It seems to work. I'm sure there are better brackets available but not for $0.

Pros: Free with speakers Works as described

Cons: Cheap build quality = flex and poor seal

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Attaching these brackets to the speakers wasn't too difficult, however, when it came time to mount up to my 08' Wrangler, it hit a snag. There was simply no way possible to alight 3 holes to the factory mounts in any configuration without intervention. Fortunately, only one of the holes on the long tab needed to be expanded to allow it to bolt up. Quick and easy mod with the cordless drill had me up and running moments later, but it was annoying that it wasn't just a simple conversion.

Pros: In theory, worked ok

Cons: Having to modify the bracket to make it work.

Crutchfield recommended that it would fit my 1998 Nissan Frontier but it did not fit. Plate would have been better if you needed to drill your own holes. I would have had less confusion. Normally Crutchfield has good recommendations for adapter brackets.

Pros: Got it to work eventually

Cons: Took a long time to figure out that it didn't fit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used these to put 5-1/4" speakers into a 6-1/2" hole for my rear speakers in my '99 Dodge Durango. They worked pretty well, however, it did require some modification. I used the factory spacer, and the holes on the bracket didn't quite line up, and one of the tabs on the bracket is too long. I had to widen the holes slightly with a drill, and trim the over sized tab to fit into my factory spacer. I was able to use my factory screws and as a result have a pretty clean install.

Pros: Work pretty well, cost effective

Cons: May require modification to fit correctly, made of plastic
