Scosche SAC-656

Scosche's SAC-656 brackets will allow you to install select 5-1/4" or 6-1/2" speakers in the factory speaker openings of select 1980-up vehicles. Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to confirm that these adapters are compatible with your vehicle. Warranty: 60 days.

Important Note: Some 6-1/2" speakers use a larger frame and require a larger cutout. We call these 6-3/4" speakers, and they won't fit in this bracket. This bracket will only work with speakers that require a cutout diameter of 5-1/8" or less.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Features

Overview: The SAC656 is compatible with a wide range of vehicles, designed to allow easy replacement of the factory speakers with select aftermarket 5-1/4 and 6-1/2 speakers. (Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.)

5-1/4 Speakers: While a 5-1/4 speaker will mount easily in this bracket given the bolt pattern, the frame of many 5-1/4s is smaller than the opening in the bracket, possibly making a 6-1/2 a better fit. When using a 5-1/4, a speaker baffle might also be needed to seal the rear of the speaker.

Dimensions:

  • Outer Diameter: 6.64"
  • Inner Diameter: 5.1"
  • Height: 0.158"

speaker brackets for 01 Durango

Written By Randy, Denver Co. on Monday, November 17, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased two sets of Rockford Fosgate Prime R165-S to replace the factory speakers in my 01 Dodge Durango, Crutchfield sent me two sets of brackets for both the front and rear doors, only complaint i have with these brackets is the didn't exactly fit the new speakers or the doors all that well, I had to modify them all to make them work but in the end after some tweaking it did work out fine and the speakers work great, after the first door I learned the tricks and the rest went fairly quickly.

Pros: awesome that Crutchfield sends these extra handy things for free !! love it.

Cons: maybe i'm just a tard but i brackets needed some modifications befoe they would fit anything.

Wrong plate for this application. The Scosche kit can be used as a baseplate, but you need to have a spacer adapter to properly fit in the back door of the Jetta. Had to go to a local audio store and they knew exactly what I needed.

Pros: Could be used as a baseplate against the frame, I guess.

Cons: Absolutely the wrong adapter kit for this application.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are alright. Pretty much the only thing they changed for me was not having to drill a 3rd hole. Other than that, I could have done without them. The plastic is soft and you can screw straight through it if you're not careful.

Pros: Had to drill one less hole.

Cons: Soft Plastic

Decent product, awkward fit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm giving this product 4 stars because it is the only product available to mount rear speakers in the car without any alteration to the original speaker mounts. The product came as shown and was fairly easy to install. I'd recommend i over making any permanent alterations to the original speaker mounts and openings.

Pros: Fairly easy install. Fit my speaker opening perfectly

Cons: Needs wider spacing on the mounts that are open ended. Tabs need to be designed to break off easier. All tabs had to be broken off in order to correctly put the rear deck back in place.

Can be made to work but was much easier to use a piece of fiber board cut with a scroll saw utilizing bolts and nuts from kit.

Pros: Good hardware.

Cons: Not a good fit to factory grill. Needed to keep appearance looking original. Don't think advisor understood this.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm not sure how this was supposed to be installed. I felt like I was taking a bizarre IQ TEST matching the adapter ring to the available space in the door of a 2007 Grand Prix.

So, after deciding I could not pass the test; I traced the outline of the old speaker, marked the old screw holes and cut the adapter to fit the hole with tin snips.

Drilled the old holes into the new sized adapter and installed in door.

Fit new speaker drilling holes to match new.

Installed.

It all worked out fine, I was just not expecting the amount of alteration to the plate.

Pros: It eventually worked

Cons: More alteration to plate than I expected

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not exactly an easy fit behind the seats in a 1999 Tacoma extended cab truck. No matter how you orient them, holes will not exactly line up. I had to dismount the speakers and open up the holes wil a larger drill sixe to get thing to line up. No big deal, but it is aggravating to have to worm you way back out from behind the seats once you're in there on the rear floorboards. To dismount, modify the bracket, and remount your speakers just to start the final installation all over again. The front door brackets are perfect!

necessity! !!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these for free with my Kenwood KFC-1665S for my 2004 Nissan Frontier XE. They did what they were designed to, except for one of the brackets pre-made holes for the mounting screws, wasn't in the right place so i was only able to get two of the three screws in. A minor thing, not worth taking a whole star away, especially since they came free with the speakers.

Pros: Free, Near perfect fit.

Cons: Near perfect fit, just the one mounting point is off place in my truck.

Buyer Beware Jeep Wrangler

Written By SeanW, Maryland on Friday, August 08, 2014

I have no idea why Crutchfield recommends this product for the Jeep Wrangler sound bar. The mounting bracket does not fit. I attempted to make it work with modifications. After a month, one speaker is rattling inside the mount. I feel cheated by Crutchfiled because they recommended this. Do not buy any speakers for the Wrangler that requires this bracket. You will only feel cheated.

I blame Crutchfield. They push the FREE mounting supplies as a benefit to buying from them, but the FREE stuff is crap.

Buyer beware !!!

Pros: None

Cons: Probably will not fit your vehicle even though Crutchfield says it will. Crutchfield - - - Why don't you actually provide a quality product? I'd rather pay money for something that works vise dangling the word FREE in front of my face, and tell me it's a benefit for being a customer. Garbage.

Crutchfield response on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Oh man, that stinks. Our Tech Support team reached out to the customer to see if we could help in any way. We've had lots of customers use these same brackets to install speakers in their Jeeps without any problem, but sometimes things don't always work the way they should.

Didn't really fit in well my Sienna - with the Kenwood speakers I bought, the front door trim panel dont' really fit down over the speakers. The brackets need to be 1/4" of an inch or so less deep.

Cons: See above

No Fit - 2013 Toyota Highalnder rear passenger door

Written By island_boy, Guam, USA on Wednesday, July 23, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The design of this bracket shows it was intended to line up the factory screw holes, but it came up short. I was a bit disappointed. I ended up drilling new mounting holes and it's a good thing they came with screws. The way the speakers mounted on to the bracket was a bit odd as well, as I had to use the unusual mounting holes on the speaker.

Cons: Did not fit specified vehicle speaker location.

Probably good, but not for this application

Written By Daxx MC, Kansas on Friday, July 18, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These were supplied with some 6 1/2" Polk speakers for installation in a 2002 Nissan Frontier. While the bracket fit the speakers okay, and would have mounted to the door with minimal modification, it was too thin. The factory Nissan speaker is molded plastic and the edge (surround) is about 1 1/4" out from the metal of the door, so the edge of the speaker meets a foam gasket on the door panel sealing off the back wave. These brackets would have left the speaker too far back and unsealed. Since I was replacing blown factory speakers, I just cut the basket and magnet out of the plastic frame, and mounted the new speakers to what was left. This fit's perfectly behind the door panel, and brings the speakers out to meet the factory grille and gasket.

Pros: Looks like they'd work, in some applications...

Cons: ...but not for the 2002 Nissan Frontier front doors though.

This mounting bracket needs a revision

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After installing the bracket in the door and discovering I could not mount the speaker in the bracket later I started over. Then after an hour of trying to make this bracket fit I broke down and called Crutchfield. The technician was great, pulled up the schematic, tried every possible orientation to make it fit, but in the end it became a drill it and make it work arrangement.

Pros: Crutchfield service is awesome. The technician even complimented me on my ability to describe the orientation of the bracket.

Cons: Bracket does not fit a 2004 suburban properly.

They Do not Fit Kia Optima

Written By DelawareDave, Milton, DE on Sunday, July 13, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These were sent to me as freebies for a replacement speaker order. They do not fit the kia optima at all. I could only get one hole to line up with the factory door mount. Didn't work on Front or back.

Pros: it was free

Cons: Doesn't fit

Crutchfield response on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 Crutchfield Tech Support reached out to the customer. We confirmed that the brackets are the correct adapters for this vehicle. When replacing the Optima's factory speakers, you need to drill new screw holes in order to mount the new speaker and bracket.
