need to modify

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Scosche speaker mounting brackets fit just right on my 2008 GMC Sierra. The only thigh is that you have to remove the tabs inside the brackets for tone 6-3/4 inch speakers to fit flush. No big deal just snip them off and your done. I did not use the slotted anchor points that are on the brackets because when I secured the speakers through them it did not feel solid enough, felt that with the vibration of the truck and time the speaker would come loose. I just drilled the mounting screws through a different hold on the speakers through the solid part of the mounting bracket plastic. That anchored the speaker better to the bracket, more solid. The brackets aligned perfect in the door and the speaker baffles gave it more secure snug fit. All in all they worked great on my doors and they were included with my purchase of the speakers. Thank you Crutchfield.

Pros: Great fit for replacement brackets

Cons: Needed some modifications, no big deal

used in front doors of 08 Silverado instead of thin sheet metal screw which felt like it would strip out at any time I used 6x32 machine screws and #6 star washers and #6 nuts to secure Focal 6.75 speaker to bracket all 4 slots lined up nicely speaker is in bracket very solid now

Pros: free

Cons: slots didn't feel very secure with tiny thin sheet metal screws.

Easily replaced the factory speaker bracket. The screws to hold the speaker wouldn't tighten up to my liking. I had to find some that were small enough to fit the speaker but large enough to tighten up. Having these allows you to save a little time by letting you have a complete assembly ready to go when you remove the factory speaker.

These were a must to install speakers in the front doors of a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500. The stock openings are squarish, so just pulling the onld ones out and installing new speakers would REQUIRE some fab work. With these mounts, it was a breeze. It has tabs for installing a 5.5", or you can break the tabs out to install a 6.25" speaker. There were minimal instructions, but if you can't figure this one out... you have no business pulling your door panel off to begin with.

Pros: Great product. Fit perfectly. Works for both 5 and 6 inch speakers.

Cons: NONE

Works but had to modify

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these for upgrading the rear door speakers in my 2015 Silverado Dbl Cab with Kicker 6.75. The back of the speaker frame is too big to allow the speakers to sit flush on the adapter. I had to take a pare of side cutters and remove the plastic speaker mounting holes that stick out towards the center of the adapter. My speakers didn't need these holes and once they were cut away the speaker dropped right in and sat flush with the adapter. The mounting holes didn't line up perfect but close enough. The speaker mounting screws supplied by Kicker were to narrow to bite into the adapter's plastic mounting hole. They get snug but not tight. The speaker still seemed secure and with the way it is mounted in the door I don;t thin it will be a problem but I will keep an eye on it. The adapter secured tightly to the door frame.

Pros: Allows an upgrade from factory speakers. Fits snug in speaker opening and door frame.

Cons: Had to remove plastic to allow the 6.75 Kicker to sit flush on the adapter. Kicker mounting hardware screws were too narrow to tightly secure the speaker to the adapter.

Very dissapointed I will now have to return these and modify the factory brackets in my 2011 silverado. I measured my speaker and it is exactly 6.5"...I thought for sure it would fall under the 6.5 to 6.75" specification of these brackets, boy was I wrong!

These are a very close match to the molded plastic surrounds on the existing speakers. I took off one star because A) they don't come with any usable instructions B) for my particular installation I had to remove some plastic tabs that were on the brackets (instructions would have made this clear) C) the tabs don't remove cleanly, (they need to be dressed afterwards) D)the screws dont really go in holes, they kind of thread in slots, which makes them fit various sized speakers, but I fear they will loosen with all the vibration. That being said, I had really no issues installing them, they did fit the speakers/vehicle & you can't really expect more since they were FREE!

Pros: fit perfectly in my vehicle

Cons: No Instructions

These were included for free from Crutchfield. I am giving them 4 stars as I had to go find screws and nuts to hold my new speakers in these come with nothing. I also had to trim them quite a bit on the inside to fit the Kicker 40CS674 6-3/4" speakers. They are not quite as tall as the factory speakers they are designed to replace, I had to find some foam tape to fill in the gap above the speaker rim otherwise there will be a road noise from the space.. The factory design was about a 1/2" taller and they fit closer to the grille.

Pros: Similar to factory

Cons: No foam tape or screws included and they may require trimming.

I don't know why manufacturers love making it so we always have to buy adapters. I know they have to position the speakers just right to match their door panels but can't they design to use a standard speaker?

The Scosche speaker brackets made it a breeze to swap out the proprietary factory speakers with aftermarket's. Once I removed the door panels, it took only 5 minutes to remove the old speaker and install the brackets.

My only complaints are the brackets could be stiffer and they should include metal clips for the speaker screws instead of stripping the soft plastics

Pros: Easy install Time saving

Cons: Plastic is soft and easy to strip out the speaker screws

Long lasting and durable.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I actually have two pair of these brackets, one from a previous installation and one the I received free with the purchase with a pair of speakers. They are tough and they fit my car perfect, and they are so snug I could barely put sound dampening material around them. Quality buy. Make sure you don't get two pair if you're buying speakers at the time, because Crutchfield will send you some freebies and you can save $12 bucks.

Pros: Strong and durable; you only need one pair for the life of your car unless you total the car.

Cons: None they fit snug and make using Dynamat aroud them a challenge. Try a sound dampening paste for permanent options or don't even use anything it won't effect the sound too much I'm just an avid listener.

Close, but still useless.

This is surely a quality produce and you can't beat the price!. They fit in my 09 Sierra well, although about 3/4 of an inch more shallow that the factory bracket. My issue was the bracket was to small for the 6.75 RF speakers (Rockford Fosgate Prime R165X3 6-3/4" 3-way car speakers) I purchased. Like James in Calif, I resorted to removing the factory from the original mountong bracket and tie wrapping the new speaker to the old more substantial mounting bracket. To bad GM can't make speakers to match the quality and durability of the bracket they put the $3 speakers in!! Despite the xtra efforts the speakers are great, trhe service was quick and the cost unbeatable. Anybody nees 4 of these brackets?

Pros: Price

Cons: Not a true match to the speakers I purchased.

The speakers mounts were about a half more shallow than the factory speakers and I could not get a good seal with the door panel that allowed for the sound to project through the door panel. I utilized my dremel tool to cut the speakers out of the factory housings and tweaked them for use with new speakers.

The brackets work and fit well in the door of my Silverado. My biggest concern is how sturdy the connection of the my polk DB651 was. They were mounted to the bracket with just four short screws through a very thin mounting hole in the bracket. I would like to see some more positive contact with the hardware to give my a better feeling with how these speakers are held into the bracket

Pros: They work....

Cons: Concerns about integrity

These fit the back door well. They do not bring the speaker as far forward as the OEM. They do not make the wire adaptor for this truck yet. I cut the plug off the OEM speaker and soldered to the new speakers. I also cut the foam spacer off the OEM and glued onto the new speaker to fill the gap. The install went well enough. I will say I do not really notice a difference since the front stage over powers the rear stage. I would not spend the money again. on the back doors I would rather invest it in the front stage.

Does maie it easy to install speakers

Written by: HumpMan from Charlottesville, VA on July 13, 2014

Does make installation of replacement speakers in the doors of GMC/Chevy pickups very easy. Not quite as solid as the OEM speakers, but decent. Do wish they came with mounting hardware for the speakers (I wound up getting some nuts and bolts) and foam tape to go between the plate and the door metal would be nice. I did what others have done and reused the foam from the OEM speakers.

Pros: Makes installation dirt simple. Moves speaker away from door to move it closer to the door grills

Cons: Could be thicker or stiffer plastic. Would have been nice to have some hardware and foam tape included.

Written by: sirbOOm from Atlanta, GA on June 17, 2014

2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Unfortunately, while these do work in the sense that they hole speakers in a goofy door cutout, they are not made of strong enough material for (1) heavier midbass/midrages, (2) I've seen speakers come out of these many times because the screw points are thin, weak plastic, and (3) to ensure the most midbass. You want a stiff, stiff, stiff, hard, hard, hard, dense, dense, dense baffle. If you can bend the baffle with your hands, then it's just not going to cut it, IMO. These are essentially only good for router templates, IMO.

Pros: Good for a router template

Cons: Not strong enough plastic. Should be harder, thicker, and not bendable.

2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used these adapters with Infinity PR6502is front speakers to replace the factory in my 2013 Silverado LT. Crutchfield included a wiring harness adapter that worked after a little tweek with some needle-nose pliers. The adapters fit the factory mount very well, however, the speakers mount to the "plastic" adapter with the sheet metal screws that came with the speakers. I understand that the adapters were free with my speaker purchase but I felt a little uncomfortable mounting my speakers to these plastic adapters with the speaker screws. They screw into the plastic that is slotted for the speaker hole mount. Will see how they handle bumps and bounces over time - for now they are snug. They were fairly easy to install. Recommend.

Pros: Easy to install and good fit.

Cons: Mounting hardware for the speaker itself is a little squirrely. I would have rather had small machine screws with nuts.

Written by: 2011 GMC Sierra from Northwest Arkansas on May 2, 2014

They function as they should. But they are pretty cheap and flimsy. If you have 6-3/4" speakers you have to break the tabs off (which is not super easy). Should just make a 6-3/4" bracket. I would highly advise getting some sort of gasket (or similar) material to apply to the edges that touch the metal parts of the door. This would help the speaker/sound/potential rattles.

Pros: Free with order.

Cons: bare minimum. needs foam or gasket type material at edges that touch the door surfaces. must break off inside tabs if using 6-3/4" speaker. kind of a pain! (but hey they were free)

Scosche SAGMHR-634 Speaker Mounting Brackets

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Scosche SAGMHR-634 Speaker Mounting Brackets fit and worked great. I did have to trim all of the plastic tabs protruding outward to work on my Pontiac G6. I think you are supposed to be able to break them off but I used my band saw instead to cut them off. Being a sort of 'universal' fit adapter bracket for various model GM cars, it did take me a little time to figure out the best way to mount my speakers to the brackets to suit me ... but they did work really well when it was all done. Using Alpine SPS -610C Speakers I used their mounting adapter spacers between the speakers and the Scosche adapter brackets. Then I used some medium density foam weather stripping around the perimeter of the speakers to cushion and seal between the speakers and the door panels. My object was to make sure that the finished installation distance from the door metal to the outside edge of the foam was the same as the original factory installation so the door panel would fit good against the speakers. This can be accomplished by measuring the distance from the Scosche mounting bracket surface where it mounts to the door metal to the outward edge of the mounted speaker (and/or foam) ... then compare the same to the original factory speaker setup. Probably sounds worse than it really is but I'm just trying to help those of you that might, otherwise, have trouble. To sum it up ... I am very happy with this product and the end result ... they worked great!

Pros: A very good product that works very well to overcome GM's shortcomings ... of not leaving you any other options for installing aftermarket speakers.

Cons: The biggest Con is General Motors ... making SORRY proprietary speakers and mounts that will inevitably leave you without any other options to install aftermarket speakers. As far as this product is concerned, there are no cons really but they are 'universal' to some extent to fit various GM models and they might require a little ingenuity, innovative thinking and patience to figure out the best installation procedure possible on your vehicle.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Received these along with the purchase of 6.75 inch Rockford Fosgate Prime R165X3's. After realizing they would not sit flush to the speaker I used a pair of pliers to snap off ALL the tabs (which are designed so they can be) on the inside of the ring. Perfect fit with the 4 remaining horseshoe holes on the bracket.

Pros: Good fit

Cons: Requires slight modification for some

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These were a perfect fit for the front doors of my 2013 Silverado. The smaller doors on the extended cab didn't accept them. This was brought to my attention by the Crutchfield rep who sent them anyway to see if I could make due. The truth of the matter was to take the OEM square bracket, hacksaw around the original speaker and simply install the new units with a bit of silicon and the supplied screws.....perfect!

Pros: Great for the full size doors

Cons: Don't fit the smaller extended cab doors
