Doesn't fit

2010 Subaru Forester
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Doesn't fit the clarion cx501. I don't know if it is just this head unit because it is curved at the top but it just looked terrible. I threw it away and ordered a double din dash panel from Japan that fits the forester perfectly. The Japanese domestic model STI comes stock with a standard double din head unit.

Pros: Free

Cons: Doesnt fit the head unit

Not great

2012 Subaru Forester
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I gave it one star because it worked. But, I couldn't give it more stars because it had a lot of deficiencies, which made it difficult to use: 1) The instructions say to snap together the sides to the front piece. Well, they certainly don't snap. They just loosely fit together. So you need two hands to hold it all together while you try to fasten the storage tray and radio to it. 2) There are two small holes in the top that are supposed to align with two small pins that are part of the dashboard. The spacing between the holes is about 1/8" too narrow. So you have to fasten one screw and then stretch the heck out of the plastic to get the other hole/pin to align. 3) There are four slotted holes in the back of the storage tray for no apparent reason. If you don't cover these up with tape or similar, you run the risk of spilling liquids or losing other foreign objects thru the back and into the back of the dash.

Pros: It worked

Cons: 3 things: 1) It wasn't easy to use 2) The holes didn't line up with dashboard pins 3) Odd holes in back of storage tray

just right

Pretty Good

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fit well and looks pretty good. Install was easy -- the faceplate snaps in place on the bracket pieces, making adjustments straightforward. Gaps are minimal, around 1-2mm, but are fairly consistent, so the overall package looks pretty good.

Works Great

2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

Great product and fits perfectly. The instructions could be better. It did not fit my Pioneer HU at first but after taking off all the covers from the HU, it fits perfectly.

Not great for my application

2010 Subaru Forester
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2010 Forester XT without NAV Sony double-DIN DVD player Fits fine, didn't use the cubby since I was going back with double DIN. Subaru radio is slightly bigger, so you need to use the bezel (shown in photo of installed product). The bezel fits nicely and makes for a clean, nearly stock, look. HOWEVER, when the touchscreen lowers to give access to the disc, it wouldn't close. It would nearly close, sense an obstruction and pop open again. The screen on the XAV-70BT pushes out at the bottom while the top is pivoting. While closing, this pivot action catches the top lip of the bezel. The top lip is very thin and droops a little in the middle. Just enough to catch the top of the screen. Had to lower the unit in the screw slots and pull it forward a bit to clear. It still catches slightly, but didn't want to pull it out so far that it looked like an obvious aftermarket. This would obviously not be an issue with a fixed unit.

2009 Subaru Impreza
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fit perfectly into my 2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i. Nice, high quality plastic. My receiver was recessed into the actual dash, makes my receiver look that much more stock and blend in with the rest of the car. (Don't have some receiver hanging out an inch or two above the dash.)

2008 Subaru Impreza
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used this in an 09 Subaru Impreza 2.5i to replace the factory double DIN head unit with a single DIN sized radio and the pocket. The pieces are a little cheap feeling, and took a bit of electrical tape to eliminate some of the slight open gaps. The screws that it comes with to install the pocket are NOT the right size to keep the pocket from sliding back and forth. Again, this required more tape to be more secure. I must say though that I have heard the Subaru kit from Scosche's competitor is even more cheaply made. Once it is all said and done and with my "engineering" added in, it did work in my Subaru, but for this price I expected a little more.
