I work in an open space office. Therefore, I wanted a pair of overhear headphones to 1) show people I'm listening to music because some people don't see the earbuds 2) something to help block some of the noise 3) a pair of headphones I can also use to take phone calls with. This fits the bill perfectly. The padding on the headphones muffles some background noise and I can listen to my music relatively disturbance free. The sound quality is amazing.

Pros: Sound quality, phone cabability

Cons: limited control options with inline remote.

Great sound -- even when you're just listening to music

Written by Ralph Graves, Staff Writer - Creative, on 8/15/2013 12:08:00 PM

I have to admit I have certain expectations from Sennheiser headphones — and the HD 429s didn't disappoint. In the Labs, I didn't have the opportunity to test the call functionality of the headphones — just their performance listening to music.

Most of the test tracks I used were lossless files, and I was impressed by the amount of detail I could hear. The headphones reproduced the sound accurately, with a nice — if not overly spacious — sound field. Overall, the 429s delivered a clean, natural sound.

I tried out Pandora® Internet radio and some stored low-rez audio files with the 429s headphones. The sound (not surprisingly) was a little closed in, but the bass hit with sufficient punch to keep me happy. For just straight up listening, I have no problem recommending the HD 429s headphones.
