For the price, these are great headphones. Great clarity and good bass. I expected them to be a bit louder and the bass to be a little bit deeper but thats because i was comparing them to the Beats By Dre Studios that i lost. Couldn't see myself paying $300 for another pair of headphones. The biggest downfall of these headphones for me is the huge 6.3mm jack. These were clearly designed for home use. I am deployed and intended to use these with my Iphone5. they come with a 3.5mm adapter which is good except that it now makes the jack 3/4 the length of my phone and its also thicker in diameter than my phone is. It's very bulky and inconvenient. I wish the original plug was 3.5mm with a 6.3mm adapter. I've been searching for a replacement from the manufacturer but none exist. I've tried to use other 3.5 to 3.5 male cables but they wont fit in the actual headphone. because of the size of the plug and adapter, i cant use these headphones while i walk around or at the gym as i intended because its very uncomfortable to put in your pocket or use with a sports strap. i almost wish i'd paid the extra $ for another pair of Beats.

Pros: great sound for the price

Cons: Cabling and adapters not ideal for mobile devices.

For the money, I am not sure you can find a better headphone. In its price range it seems unbeatable. It does not match the sound performance of an expensive sealed headphone, but in my opinion you would have to pay much more to improve the sound that this headphone produces.

Nice and good value

Great headphones in this price range. They are not noise reduction but open which is OK for my use (in my house) as I can hear interruptions (rare) so that I am not oblivious to what is going on. Good service from Crutchfield as usual.

Great Buy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Truly a nice headphone. Very comfortable although at first felt a bit snug until I made all the minor adjustments to fit my head. Ear cups are soft and don't make your head sweat. Headband is plush. Overall lightweight is nice. Detachable cord is awesome and the native 1/4 inch gold jack feels snug and secure. Thick cable is a plus. Must be twice the size of my HD525 cable.

Compared to my old and faded HD525s, these 558s are on another level comfort and sound-wise. Tighter bass, full warm mids and comfortably crisp highs make these a pleasure. My 525s lasted almost 10 years, and I guess I could have bought the replacement parts, but the investment in these 558s was well worth the cost. The upgraded sound and low impedance lets me play this thing on my iphone without problem, although I would recommend upping the bass level when using such low power devices.

I'm glad I stuck with the Sennheiser brand. I was thinking of trying out another line like Bose, but I realized how long my 525s lasted and thought I could get the same value out of these.

Pros: low impedance makes it an all-around good listen. Soft, plush padding, lightweight. Warm and tight sound.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

High-quality headphones that fit well and are very comfortable. The velour material around the ears and across the headpiece is exceptional. Excellent sound quality and frequency range. The only down-side is that external noise is not shut out as well as the Bose Acoustic series, which I also own. Overall I would say the Sennheiser 558 headphones are a good buy. Nice to have the detachable 10 foot cord with the gold mini-jack adapter.
