Features

Overview: The Sennheiser HD 65 TV over-the-ear headphones were designed with TV viewing in mind. A 17' extension cable is included to connect to a TV, or other device with a headphone output. On the output end of the extension cable (the end nearest the headphones) is an in-line volume control with separate sliders for left and right channel volume. The volume control housing also has a clip (designed like a belt clip) to keep it in place.

Comfortable Fit: The HD 65 TV uses soft, leatherette ear cushions and a padded headband for a comfortable fit.

Over-the-Ear Design: A closed, over-the-ear design helps block out ambient noise, allowing you to listen at a safer level.

Neodymium Magnets: The Sennheiser HD 65 TV utilizes powerful neodymium magnets for excellent speech intelligibility and powerful sound reproduction.

Connectivity: The cable attached to the headphones is terminated with a 3.5mm (1/8") mini-plug. The extension cable also has 3.5mm jacks (male on the input end, female on the output end). A 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter is included, for use with or without the extension cable.

Q
Does this go straight into back of our tv? We have red/white audio output with female end - that would be where the connected wire would go?

My TV has a headphone jack on the side back part of the TV. That's what I use. They can also work with a laptop or computer. I will tell you although they are great I have purchased 2 of these and both of them lost the sound on one side of the headphones on both units.

No. That is for audio connections with 2 wires. Your tv must have a dedicated headphone jack. Most small TVs have this jack in the back. Also, you can run the tv audio through a stereo and plug in to the stereo headphone jack.

I use a 1/4 adapter and plug it into my stereo. There is a "Y" adapter that connects your plug into an RCA splitter that you could then plug into each channel (red/white). Good luck.

A
it will be connected through the 3.5mm headphone jack

Is this just for TV sound, or any kind of output? I'm need L/R volume controls on earphones for my piano keyboard.

I use mine plugged into my amp, with the speaker turned off, to practice my pedal steel guitar. The sound reproduction is fine. I'm sure you can get higher quality studio type headphones but these work well and the independent volume adjustment is nice.

I use it only for TV listening, however I do not see why they should not work for your application. You have control over the volume with the two slide buttons. What I do not like on them is the fact that the volume control connects to the headphones. The weight of the control is sometimes enough to make it disconnect.

What is the volume control range? Can the volume be turned off in side while listening the other side?

yes

Yes. It has a left right slider to control each individually. You can, of course, still use you're tv remote for the overall volume.
darlene  Feb 09, 2014
A
Yes, there are seperate volume controls for each.side, so you can have a different volume level for the right side versus left or vice versa, or even turn one side off or have both sides on the same level.

I bought HD 65 TV for my Dad. He is very hard hearing and I had hoped they would make his tv watching more enjoyable. To answer your question; they are a good headset and the volume can be individually controlled and even shut off to either side. The drawback I found is that the amplifier on the tv set is not sufficient to drive them loud enough for my Dad's hearing. The cord is sufficiently long and the sound is good. I blame the volume (or rather the lack thereof) on the puny amp in todays flat screen sets. Hope you find this helpful.
larry c.  Feb 09, 2014
A
Yes. The control has "left" & "right" slider switches that can be moved independently from no volume to max volume.

All you could want in a headset.Much better than wireless

The headphones do not have a mute setting, but you can adjust the volume low enough so that it is impossible to hear the sound coming from the headphones if you don't have them on your head.

I believe you can listen to only one side. But I think the idea is to give you some flexability that would not be available in a standard set. This allows you to adjust each side so you have even volume on both channels. This may come into play depending on our own hearing, what source we are listening to etc.Hope this helps. My experience with these phones was not good

I have these connected to my Sony TV. So the range is limited to that output. You would get more range if you were connected to a A/V receiver. The volume is plenty loud for me. Also you can completely turn off one side of the headphone. The volume slider has a right/left or together function.
