Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
- "Coolness Factor"
- Noise Reduction
I also own a pair of HD 590's. The 800's are more efficient and have a brighter sound. The 800's are a little heavier on the head. I was surprised to see they are coming out with an HD800 "S" model. It looks like it's probably just a cost reduced version of the 800. The "S" includes a balanced cable along with the old unbalanced cable. I expect that's where most of the price increase comes from. I think I prefer the silver/black of the 800 over the all black "800 S" model. I have them plugged into a Sennheiser HDVD800 headphone amp. That gets it input from an old Ayre D1X-e DVD/CD player. One feature that would be nice on Sennheisers would be the ability to lock the headband adjustment. Once I get it adjusted to fit, I want it to stay where I set it. Noise reduction doesn't apply. Coolness factor is for kids. Kids will not be buying this headphone. If you want coolness, buy Beats. I bought these for the sound quality.
