Factory-recertified and repacked with care

If you've been eying Sennheiser's ultra-high-end HD 800 headphones, but you've been waiting to take the plunge, this factory-recertified model may just hit the sweet spot. Sennheiser's so confident you'll enjoy these superb headphones just as much as a brand new pair, they're including their full two-year warranty.

Close your eyes and let the music transport you

When you slip on Sennheiser's HD 800s, you'll hear intensely realistic, natural sound — so real, in fact, that it's as if you're hearing your music straight from the source. That's because the HD 800s use Sennheiser's careful driver technology, along with premium materials and exceptional build quality, to reproduce sound as faithfully and accurately as possible. You'll hear deep bass, rich midrange, sparkling highs, and more detail in your music than ever before.

Innovative design for high-definition sound

The HD 800s feature a specially designed ring radiator driver to re-create the clearest sound possible, while eliminating distorting resonances. They'll reveal the subtle details in your favorite recordings, from the sound of a mallet hitting the membrane of a bass drum to the quick breath of a singer before a solo. The open backs of the earcups prevent unwanted vibrations from the coverings from tainting the sound.

Audiophiles take note: the drivers are uniquely positioned to send sound waves to your ears at a 45° angle. Since sound rarely ever takes a straight path to reach our ears, the slight angle helps create a spatial effect for a more natural listening experience. So, unlike ordinary headphones that box the music inside your head, the HD 800s present every instrument as if you're sitting in the audience at a live concert.

Quality materials, impeccable craftsmanship

Each pair of HD 800s is assembled by hand at Sennheiser's headquarters in Germany using only the finest materials. The drivers are encased in stainless steel, and the plush earpads are made of high-quality microfiber fabric. The headband uses layers of metal and plastic for added durability, and to help damp vibration. The cable's high-quality, oxygen-free copper center conductor is specially tuned and shielded to faithfully deliver the audio signal from your equipment to the headphones.

From our hands-on review

"What I actually experienced was the most detailed and spacious sound I had ever heard from my music. I heard a wider soundstage than normal, but it was still a continuous sound from left to right. I found [the] level of detail in the sound exciting, as it's precisely what I would have heard in a live performance. It gave the recording real presence."

Customer Q&A

Q
1. Would the Sony PHA-3 work well with the Sennheiser PH3 800? 2. Would an adapter be needed for the 1/4 inch jack to fit? 3. I have my computer going through a Sony AV receiver for 5.1 surround in my office but sometimes I want headphones instead. My computer does have a headphone jack but... Can the Sony PH3-3 be connected to the AV Receiver Headphone 1/4 Jack (with another adapter) of and then to the Headphones or would that short it out? I have another Sony in my living room and thus the need for a portable headphone amp to bring it room to room.

The Sennheiser HD 800 would work well with the Sony PHA-3. It isn't clear to me how you would connect the PHA-3 to your sound system. An adapter is needed to connect the HD800 1/4 plug to the PHA-3 1/8 input.

Hi there. I just purchased the Sony PH3-3 and am very happy with it. I have connected my Sennheisers HD 800s to it and it works wonderfully. I cant see why this simple mini amplifier would or could short out your computer or Sony amplifier in any variation of connection. Yes you do however need an adaptor for a 1/4 inch headphone that would bring it to a 1/8th. I must admit that I was given improper hooking up instructions by Crutchfield and needlessly bought a computer cord that was completely unnecessary. Just put the headphone OUT from the back of the Ph3 into the available input on your amp and your headphones connect in the front of the Sony PH3. All is well in the world. Hope I have helped you in some small way.

I'm using the HD 800s with the TEAC TA P50 which I got from Crutchfield, not the Sony. My receiver is a Denon DRA 395. They work fine with it and I don't need the Amplifier. I can also use them without the Amp on my MacBook Pro. I do need the Amp for my iPad and iPhone. I have an Audioquest cable , also a Grado adapter to use to connect the iPad. They work fine. Unless the headphone outputs on your computer AA d receiver are not powerful enough to give you listenable sound I wouldn't bother with the Amp. As I said above, you would need it for I devices. Hope this helps. Happy listening. I never heard headphones like these. There are truly amazing! Happy listening. Mike

1. We don't normally comment on other companies' products but looking at the specifications for Sony PHA-3, it should pair well with the Sennheiser HD 800. 2. Yes, you will probably need an adapter as the Sennheiser HD 800 comes with a 1/4inch plug.
