About the Sennheiser HD8 DJ

David Brown

Headphones for the demanding DJ lifestyle

DJs look for more than just sound quality and noise isolation when shopping for headphones. They need a pair that are durable enough to stand up to the rigors of life in the club. The Sennheiser HD8 DJ headphones are rock solid, with a metal frame and hinges, along with strong reinforcements to handle consistent wear and tear. Based on their DJ-favorite HD 25 headphones, Sennheiser created a new design with larger, swiveling circumaural earcups for single- or double-ear monitoring in noisy clubs. Just because these headphones are tough, doesn't mean they aren't comfortable. Thick padding on the earcups and headband offer a relaxed fit throughout long sets and deep into the night. All this plus powerful sound make the HD8 DJ an ideal go-to headphone for working DJs.

The DJ sound

DJ headphones benefit from a particular sound signature, which the HD8 DJ headphones deliver with power and punch. Powerful bass response and lots of high-frequency detail allow the music in the headphones to cut through the background noise of the club. These headphones also get plenty loud enough to make sure you can hear your monitor track. However, with the HD8 DJ's passive noise attenuation capability, you won't have to crank up the music to ear-damaging levels.

Includes two extra-long cables

Choose from straight and coiled cables when connecting the HD8 to your DJ rig, mixing board, or headphone amp. Each cable extends to an extra-long 118 inches and can be plugged into either the left or right earcup. This gives you increased setup flexibility while you spin, so you can move easily between turntables and record crates. Also included are a rugged carrying case and an extra set of earpads, just in case you wear out the first pair.

Q
Interested in knowing the sound isolation level in dB? I am trying to compare its isolation performance to other competing headphones.

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Unfortunately we don't have the sound isolation spec available on the HD8 DH headphones. Sorry we didn't have better news. You may be able to get the specs from Sennheiser, but I checked their website as well and didn't find it. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Is there an airline adapter available and do you recommend it for traveling?

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: If I were looking at possibly having these on a an airplane I would want some with noise-cancelling technology. Check out these item #760M4U2 by PSB. In my opinion, they are the best sounding headphones we carry. They will also have the noise-cancelling technology, so you are covered no matter where you listen. I hope this information helps. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
