Product Research

Features

Overview: The HDR 175 is an additional (or replacement) headset for the Sennheiser RS 175 wireless headphone system. The HDR 175 headphones do not include the necessary transmitter (TR 175), and cannot operate without it.

Headphone Design: The HDR 175 wireless headphones feature a circum-aural (around-the-ear), closed design to significantly reduce background noise. The soft-padded ear cups and headband provide hours of listening comfort. The headphones have controls on the right ear cup: power on/off, volume up, volume down, surround (to activate Virtual Surround Sound), and bass (to activate the Dynamic Bass Boost feature). With the batteries installed, the HDR 175 headphones weigh approximately 10.9 ounces.

Note: You can purchase replacement ear pads here.

Rechargeable Batteries: The headphones are powered by the two included "AAA" rechargeable NiMH batteries (1.2V, 820mAh). The batteries fully charge in approximately 8.5 hours, when placed on the top of the TR 175 transmitter (included with the RS 175 system). Battery life is approximately 18 hours of use. Standard, non-rechargeable "AAA" batteries may be used in the headphones, but the headphones must not be placed on the charging cradle.

Auto Power Off: If there is no signal from the transmitter for more than 5 minutes, the headphones automatically switch to standby mode.

Specifications:

  • Reception Frequency: 2.4-2.48 GHz
  • Modulation: 8-FSK Digital
  • Frequency Response: 17Hz - 22kHz
  • Maximum SPL: 114 dB at 1 kHz, 3% THD

A
We do not carry a replacement transmitter base. It is possible to order one from Sennheiser and they list 952-392-2132 as the number to call for ordering replacement parts

Q
Can I pair this 175 with a 195 on same transmitter? Or would I be better off buying the 175 with the transmitter?

I SUCCESSFULLY PAIRED A SECOND 175 WITH MY TRANSMITTER BUT I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT A 195, NEVER EVEN HAVING SEEN IT. OUR 175 TRANSMITTER WORKS GREAT BUT CHARGES ONLY ONE HEADSET AT A TIME. BUT THE CHARGE LASTS A LONG TIME. WE HAVEN'T EVER HAD A HEADSET UNUSABLE BECAUSE OF AN EXHAUSTED BATTERY. IT'S A VERY GOOD PRODUCT.

We own a Sennheiser| HDR185 (w/transmitter) and this item a Sennheiser HDR175 w/o a transmitter. The 185 works flawlessly for my wife. In truth, I've not hooked up the 175 as yet, but the two items were suggested by a Technical person at Costco for use with our new LG TV set. The 175 is an add-on accessory head phone designed to work with several of the Sennheiser transmitters. I am not familiar with the 195 model. Pete

Yes. Both will pair on the same transmitter. And they both work AWESOME! When the family is busy or the washing machine is loud, I put these on, and everything is blocked out. I asked this same question before i purchased and they told me the same answer.

This exact thing has happened to me too. My headphones are now 4 years old. Looks like you can buy replacement pads on the Sennheiser website $20 for the ear cuffs and $10 for the headband pads.

My 3+ year old headset has the foam ear cup falling apart. It is a replaceable part. It's about $20 from Sennheiser.

I bought two sets for the same TV. Both have worked great. No problem with plastic falling off. They are on a secondary TV used on average once or twice per week. But, the main user is our 9 year old grandson.
