Beautifully unconventional

Sennheiser's first-generation Momentum headphones earned rave reviews from our customers and staff for their clear, accurate sound and tasteful but original good looks. With the Momentum 2.0 Wireless, you get some nice design tweaks and the added bonus of cable-free Bluetooth technology. It's a striking mix of classic style, tried-and-true sound, and modern-day conveniences.

Built to travel, and sound good doing it

Like the original Momentums, these lightweight over-ear headphones sport a cool throwback look, but Sennheiser gave this new wireless version a collapsible folding design for easy transport and storage. Heavy-duty, rugged parts like stainless steel sliders and a leather headband make them incredibly durable. Life on the move is further improved by Sennheiser's NoiseGard™ technology, which uses tiny microphones and advanced circuitry to cancel out extraneous noise. It'll help you focus on the Momentum 2.0 Wireless' enjoyable, well-balanced sound signature, which has a slight nod toward the low frequencies for some extra punch.

Go wireless and answer calls with Bluetooth 4.0

To make listening on the go even easier, the Momentum 2.0 Wireless headphones connect to your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet. No dangling cord needed.

Buttons on the right earcup let you control music playback and volume, and also answer phone calls. The built-in VoiceMax microphone captures your voice for clear call quality. You get up to 22 hours of wireless playback with noise cancellation on a full charge. If you're in a situation where you don't need wireless, a cable is included for both passive and active listening.

Relaxed, comfortable fit

The Momentum 2.0 Wireless 'phones features oversized cushioned ear pads covered in soft, luxurious leather. Sennheiser gave them larger earcups than the original Momentums, for an easier fit over the ear — one of two key comfort upgrades. The second is a slightly larger headband, which helps these headphones rest on your head without clamping too tightly.

Features

Overview: The Sennheiser Momentum Wireless (M2 AEBT) headphones have a closed circumaural (over-the-ear) design with Bluetooth technology and NoiseGard Hybrid active noise cancellation. The headphones come with a straight connecting cable for those times when you can't go wireless, a USB charging cable for the internal battery, a soft cloth drawstring pouch, and a semi-hard clamshell case for storage.

Bluetooth: The Momentum Wireless headphones have Bluetooth version 4.0 + EDR which pairs to your phone or audio device in seconds. You can make and receive phone calls and stream audio wirelessly in a range of up to 33', depending upon environmental conditions. Bluetooth 4.0 is compatible with devices having Bluetooth versions 1.1 through 4.0. The headphones have the following profiles: Headset Profile (HSP 1.2), Hands-Free (HFP 1.6), Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP 1.5), Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP 1.3), and Device ID Profile (DIP 1.3).

aptX: With aptX audio coding, the M2 AEBT headphones deliver clean, crisp audio in full stereo. If your Bluetooth audio source supports aptX, the headphones will automatically stream music wirelessly in aptX high-quality mode. If the device is not equipped with aptX, the music will be streamed in the standard quality mode.

Near-Field Communications (NFC): If you are using the headphones with a device that supports NFC, you can wirelessly connect the device by touching, or placing it within close proximity of, the "N" logo on the front of the left earcup.

NoiseGard: The Momentum Wireless headphones feature the NoiseGard hybrid Active Noise Cancellation. NoiseGard is a combination of two noise-cancellation systems with a total of 4 microphones. The two microphones on the outside work as a Feed-Forward system that reduces high-frequency noise, while the two on the inside of the earcups act as a Feed-Back system to reduce low-frequency noise. Together, the two microphone systems reduce ambient noise by up to 25dB over a broad frequency spectrum. The NoiseGard hybrid Active Noise Cancellation system only works when the headphones are powered on. Even with the power off, the closed, around-the-ear design shuts out much of the external noise.

Rechargeable Battery: The M2 AEBT headphones are powered by an internal, 3.7VDC 600mAh Lithium-Polymer rechargeable battery. The battery charges in about 3 hours via USB power (using the supplied Micro USB cable) from a laptop, an AC-powered USB charging port, or a mobile 12-volt USB charging port. While charging, you can continue listening to music or making calls from your smartphone via a Bluetooth connection. A fully-charged battery provides approximately 22 hours, using both Bluetooth and Active Noise Cancellation. You can keep track of the remaining battery life through the multi-color LED and voice prompts.

VoiceMax: The headphones utilize VoiceMax technology with two built-in microphones for voice communications. With two microphones, speech quality is enhanced, and external noise is removed. VoiceMax allows you to conduct clear phone conversations, as well as voice control functions with your smartphone, without the need of an external microphone.

Phone/Music Controls: You can control your streaming audio and phone calls using the 3-way multi-function button on the bottom of the right earcup. The button uses the same protocol as most other headphone remote controls with a pattern of button presses, however some smartphones may not support all functions. Phone controls allow you to accept, end, and reject calls, and redial. If you receive a call during another active call, you can choose to accept the new call by ending the active call or placing it on hold and toggling between the two calls. Music controls include play/pause a song, play the next or previous song, and rewind or fast-forward a song. Phone and music controls are only available if the headphones and smartphone are connected via Bluetooth.

Audio Cable: If you can't listen to the headphones wirelessly, you can still enjoy your music through a wired connection. An attachable 58" straight audio cable is provided with a right-angled 3.5mm mini-plug. In Active Mode, you can still take advantage of NoiseGard hybrid Active Noise Cancellation when using the headphones with the audio cable, however, the phone and music control functions will be disabled. In Passive Mode, Active Noise Cancellation is turned off. An Airline audio adapter is included so you can plug into in-flight entertainment on most domestic and international airliners. Phone and music controls are not available when the audio cable is plugged in.

Design and Materials: The Momentum Wireless headphones are equipped with lightweight brushed stainless steel sliders, a luxurious, real leather headband, and redesigned ear cushions with memory foam. The headphones fold into a compact package that you can place in the silky drawstring pouch or the semi-hard clamshell case with a zippered closure.

A
Bought mine on Oct 13 2015, Crutchfield shipped me the new model REV 02 dated 2015.
gregory t  Oct 29, 2015
A
I don't know if these are the new revised headphones, but I ordered a pair about a week ago, but I had to return them because the box said REV 01 dated 2014.

A
This is the date we reasonably expect to have this product in stock based on anticipated demand, communications from the manufacturer and other factors. This is a good faith estimate, not a guarantee.

Q
Is the apt-x technology compatible with ios?

A
I posed a similar question to Sennheiser customer service and I copied the following from their response: Thank you for contacting the Sennheiser Technical Support Team. The part number #506250 is the part number for our M2 AEBT Black (MOMENTUM Wireless Black). The Apt-X codec is one element that helps provide the best possible sound quality via Bluetooth. If the Apt-X codec is not built into the device you are connecting to the headphones will still work you via Bluetooth you simply will not have the benefit of Apt-X. The Apt-X codec makes a huge difference when you are comparing lower level devices that might not have the best Bluetooth chips in them however when you are considering Apple devices these items have excellent Bluetooth chips in them so the addition of the Apt-X codec does not affect the audio quality very much. The MOMENTUM Wireless models sound excellent when connected to an Apple device via Bluetooth and I am certain that you will not be disappointed.
flyer  Jan 05, 2016
A
No, it is not compatible with Apple iOS

A
Yes, but you lose the noise canceling function.
jerry  Mar 04, 2015
A
Yes, and what great is that the sound quality doesn't change compare to noise canceling feature on. Bose qc 25 has really low sound quality when noise canceling feature is off.
zehao  Mar 03, 2015
A
I Don't know
e harry  Mar 03, 2015
A
Yes you can. It includes a detachable 3.5 cable, and you can also use them wired if they are plugged in with usb
joseph  Mar 03, 2015
A
Yes, these headphones work in three different ways. The first way is as a wireless/Bluetooth active noise canceling headphone when the battery has a charge. The second way, again with the battery charged, is to use the included stereo connection wire for increased frequency response and active noise cancellation. The third way is as a passive set of headphones, the same as any high quality non-wireless headphone, without the battery charged. Each one of the three ways provides an exceptionally clear and balanced listening experience. I've had mine for about two weeks now and can say that they are the best set of headphones I've ever owned. Give them a try........you won't be disappointed.
stephen  Mar 03, 2015
A
Yes. You can use them as traditional headphones without power.
matthew  Mar 03, 2015
A
Yes, you can use the headphones wired, with or without power.
david  Mar 03, 2015
A
I honestly haven't tried that, the Battery lasts forever. But I don't think it works without battery power.
michael h  Mar 03, 2015
A
Yes, you can use the M2 wired even if battery is dead. I believe you can use ANC wired as well.
tim  Mar 03, 2015
A
Yes, they still work as normal headphones without the battery. The noise cancelation will not work if the battery dies, however.
collin  Mar 03, 2015
A
I've turned off my headset and have used the wire
