Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear

Big sound from the "Mini Mo"

We're big fans of the original Sennheiser Momentum headphones. So we were excited to find out that these sharp-looking, sweet-sounding headphones are now available in an on-ear version. With new colors, a lower price, and the same sound signature as its big brother, the "Mini Mo" is sure to attract a lot of attention.

Like the originals, the Momentum On-Ear is built for comfort, durability, and, most of all, sound that reaches out and grabs you. The headband and earcups feature a super-soft Alcantara® covering — think suede, only softer. You can wear these headphones for long periods without fatigue. That will give you plenty of time to discover how the tight, punchy bass and up-front sound can make familiar tunes sound more lively and engaging.

Three-button remote for Apple® devices

When you're out and about, why not keep your iPhone® or iPod® in your pocket or bag? You'll still maintain control, thanks to the Momentum's remote cable. The 3-button remote lets you play and pause music, skip between tracks and control the volume. A built-in microphone on the remote lets you take calls on your iPhone, while the remote lets you answer calls and hang up. The Momentum's low impedance ensures these headphones are easily driven by your mobile device, for great sound wherever you go.

Features

Overview: The Sennheiser Momentum Supra headphones are stylish, high-quality on-ear headphones. They are lightweight and comfortable, with durable metal construction on the earcup and earcup sliders. The ear pads are covered in Alcantara, a soft, durable suede-like material. The Momentum Supra headphones give you high-performance audio reproduction with rich, detailed sound. The Momentum Supra comes with a soft zippered storage pouch.

Design: The Momentum Supra has a closed-back, supra-aural (on-ear) design which isolates much of the background noise. The headphones are equipped with high-performance neodymium magnets. The impedance is lowered to 18 ohms so it will play portable devices at high volumes without overdriving the device's tiny amp.

Included Cables: The Momentum Supra headphones are equipped with two exchangeable 55" audio cables, both with 3.5mm plugs. One cable is equipped with a right-angled plug and an in-line remote/microphone. The other has a straight plug, but no remote. The cables connect to the left earcup via a 2.5mm sub-mini plug that twist-locks in place to prevent accidental disconnection. The included 3.5mm-to-1/4" plug adapter can be used with either cable.

Smart Remote: The 3-button Smart Remote lets you control your iPod, iPhone, iPad, and recent versions of Macbooks. The outer buttons control volume up and volume down. The center button controls music playback (play, pause, play next song, play previous song) and phone functions (accept call, end call, reject call, voice control). In addition, the Smart Remote has a built-in microphone. The Smart Remote is compatible with:

  • iPod:
    • shuffle: (remote and voiceover functions) 3rd generation and later
    • nano: 4th generation and later
    • classic: 120 GB, 160 GB
    • touch: 2nd generation and later
  • iPhone: 3GS, 4, 4S, 5
  • iPad: iPad and iPad2
  • Macbooks: 2009 and later models of Macbook, Macbook Pro, and Mac Pro

You'd think that because of the pretty penny price tag, you were getting something that'll last a good long time. These guys didn't last for more than an hour before problems began to flood in. First, the aux cables they came with were analogous with a 5$ cable you I find at the general store. It was flimsy and the sound output was not clear. Then, after only about half an hour, The sound began to play on one side only. I had to jimmy the aux cable around the port and put it in a certain position so that it could sound somewhat right, with still some distortion. After a little while of listening(about 15 minutes) I realized my ears begin to hurt because of the gorilla grip on these things. So I had to reposition them but then the aux cable/port began to suck even more when the sound stopped playing alltogether.I could only hear a grinding noise. It only took an hour to decide to return them. Luckily, the process was easy and the person on the phone walked me through the process fast and easy; Then he helped me pick out another set. So that was probably the only good part of this whole experience. I wouldn't recommend these to a friend. I wouldn't even recommend these to an enemy. I may not like that person, but I don't have the heart to put someone else through that adversity. It's inhumane.

Pros: -look pretty cool -Won't fall off -after you decide to return them you'll be able to receive some good customer service

Cons: -bad build quality (aux port, grip, sound) -no comfort(hurts your ears) -no noise reduction -too expensive for such a bad product

I love these headphones. To me they are better than Bose. It all depends on what kind of sound you are looking for.

Pros: Excellent sound quality, not to much bass, love the look great for a women.

Cons: Could be a little more comfortable on the ear, wish it was wireless.

Excellent

I really and truly wanted to love these headphones. I am not saying they are bad, they just don't have the sound that I was hoping for. They definitely lacked in the lower end department, almost non exsisent. The midrange sounded compressed, and the highs too saturated, especially when it came to the S sound, very similar to a poorly pressed album. I used these headphones with flac files from my NAS, plus a multitude of cd' s on my Denon 3910, and no change. As far as comfort goes, I could not wear them for more than 15 min without starting to experience the onset of ear fatigue. Sound is subjective from one set of ears to another, and what might not sound good to me, may sound spectacular to someone else. I applaud Crutchfield and their wonderful and knowlegable staff for assisting me a completely different purchase and authorizing a return with no penalty. As always, thank you Crutchfield, I will definately be purchasing from you again.

Pros: Nice styling

Cons: Lack of bass, compressed midrange, overly saturated highs, ear fatigue

Very good sound, bass and treble are distinct but neither one overwhelms. Solid build and good looking - not too big. Work great with an iPod. A little tight on the head but not anything to be concerned about - can wear them for several hours at a time. Although they are not "noise canceling" per se, I was hoping they cut the sound out on airplanes better - but they really do not.

Pros: Sound, looks, quality

Cons: A little tight, no noticeable noise reduction.

The Sennheiser Momentum is a good looking if not almost retro looking headset. Buyers have a few options for colours including black, brown, green, blue and ivory - pretty much something for everyone's taste.

This on ear set of cans does very well with portable devices and provides decent audio and while not for bassheads, it delivers decent bass for those wanting a more natural flat response. It does however have a bit more bass than that of a truly flat response set of cans.

Where this particular unit might give some people trouble is that the ear pieces can slide up and down to adjust to most people's heads/ears but there is no give in any other direction. All of the fit on the ears is based on ear shape and the earpiece pads. The pads are full and relatively soft but for some it may be a bit uncomfortable to wear for long periods.

I find that for my use, I had to flex the head band (metal with a touch of leather/pad casing) a bit to loosen up the fit enough to provide me with long wear comfort. Obviously, one needs to exercise some care when flexing the band as to not make the Momentum too loose and thus a poor ear fit.

This unit comes with a cable with built in controls that appear only to work for i-devices and not for Android or any other maker's portable device. As I have an iPhone, it works extremely well for my needs and good for indoor and outdoor play. Given the moderate fit for the ears, it does not do too much to block out loud noises which is okay by me.

Pros: Full sound with a touch of bass with a decent moderate sound stage. Once physically adjusted, they are very light weight and provide reasonable volume for nice music experience. People should try before by based on fit and comfort. Nearly all will find the sound delivered to be very good, clean and enjoyable for all sorts of music.

Cons: The ear units have only up and down adjustment and rely on the pads of the ear pieces to adjust to everyone's ears which are obviously not all the same. While the use does not bleed out audio for everyone else near by to hear, it does not block all noises around.

They are - the sound is rich and not overbearing with blown out bass or tinny highs (like Beats or other overpriced alternatives). They are incredibly comfortable and easily worn all day. The added bonus of having a microphone built in to the cable means I can go all day and not have to swap out to answer a quick call. These are by far the best headphones I have owned. [ Sheri  Nov 19, 2014 ]
I am no audiophile. However, I think the sound quality is excellent. I practice a musical instrument with these listening to the full orchestra playing while I play along. I think the price is well worth it. I have an iphone 5 that I use with these. Additionally, I use these headphones an amazing number of times while answering my cell phone and the in line microphone is excellent and call quality is excellent. [ CELIA  Nov 17, 2014 ]
Yes, they sound great and I think the sound quality is worth the price. My only complaint with these headphones is that they get hot on your ears [ JAMES  Nov 16, 2014 ]
I have been very happy with my Momentum headphones. The sound has been excellent for all types of music. I have owned Sennheiser headphones for the past 20 years and highly recommend their products; the quality is always excellent. [ JAMES  Nov 16, 2014 ]
Yes, they are excellent and worth more than the price. Remember, however, your speakers/headphones are just one link in your sound chain? How is the quality of the music? How good is the amp/preamp, etc. if all links are good, then these Sennheisers are worth your money. [ RONALD  Nov 16, 2014 ]
I use them on my iPhone and the sound quality is great. The mic works very well for calls. [ ASHLEY  Nov 15, 2014 ]
The sound quality of these headphones is very good. They work very well with all music sources and even enhance the quality of MP3 players partially because of there frequency range and impedence level. The bass is good but not ultra deep as is the case with on ear headphones in general. They are light and rest well on most ears however is you have large ears or very sensitive ones long listening periods may become uncomfortable. For me they are definitely worth the price. As to the question of working well with any phone type as long as the sound quality of your phone is good these headphone will work well. I hope this is of some assistance to you.
