Overview

Our take on the Sennheiser RS 180

The RS 180s use Kleer wireless technology to deliver uncompressed stereo sound. Unlike other wireless technologies, Kleer delivers lossless, CD-quality digital audio, which means you won't be able to tell the difference between these headphones and your wired ones. Multi-receiver mode allows up to four people using Sennheiser Kleer headphones to listen to the same audio source, so you can easily share music, movies, or TV shows with your friends and family. (Add-on HDR 180 headsets available separately.)

Great headphone sound goes wireless

Sennheiser's RS 180 wireless headphones let you enjoy superb sound that won't disturb family members or housemates. Advanced "Open-Aire" speaker technology delivers clear, natural-sounding detail, while the Automatic Level Control smooths out variances in volume — quiet dialog is easier to hear, and loud commercials and explosions are kept in check. The luxurious velour earpads sit around your ears to seal out external noise. And with a listening range of up to 320 feet, you can roam freely throughout your living area — make popcorn during TV commercials, look through a photo album in another room, or stay up for a late-night listening session while your spouse sleeps soundly next to you.

Exceptionally "Kleer™" wireless technology

Unlike other wireless technologies, Kleer delivers lossless, CD-quality digital audio, which means you won't be able to tell the difference between these headphones and your wired ones. Never misplace your headphones with the multi-purpose transmitter

The multi-purpose transmitter keeps your headphones charged up and ready to go. It also doubles as a docking station, so you'll never forget where you put them. Wireless setup is easy — just connect the transmitter to a spare headphone jack or RCA audio output using the included cable. Then plug the transmitter into an AC power outlet. Automatic tuning does the rest, pairing with the headphones for interference-free sound.

I am really pleased with the wireless headphones, RS 180, recently purchased from Crutchfield. They are comfortable, the sound is terrific, and they are very easy to move from one application to another.

RS 180 Wireless Earphones

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice set of 'phones; however they are 'open back', so there is some reverb/echoing from surround speakers, so will replace with RS165

Pros: Very high quality; easy to set up.

Cons: Open back design causes some reverb/eching.

I am really pleased with the wireless headphones, RS 180, recently purchased from Crutchfield. They are comfortable, the sound is terrific, and they are very easy to move from one application to another.

Pros: Comfortable, lightweight, excellent sound reproduction.

Cons: I need to remove the headphones, in order to adjust the volume or right/left controls.

Sennheiser 180 for TV ears.

Written by: Santa Dan from Alaska on January 10, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I finally aquired this wireless headset for myself. After years of hints, and asking for the volume to be turned up, Santa had to do his own shopping. This unit has good reviews. And I agree with them. Quality signal, light weight, long battery life, easy to use. The price was definitely a bonus. It works very well attached to the TV. I can now hear the conversations. Great product.

Pros: Light weight. Comfortable. Easy to use. Clear sound.

Cons: Operating button on the headset are small and hard to use. Wouldn't keep me from buying this unit, but they could be better.

Pretty good headphones. The sound is good. They are powered which my Samsung tv requires. They are a bit pricey. The volume buttons are sort of awkward but it's not a big problem. So far so good.

Pros: Good sound. Powered headphones.

Cons: Expensive. Awkward volume buttons.

Only had the product for a few weeks and so far it is the best we have purchased. We had others but they fail after a short use. We use it to watch TV so the other people are not bothered by the sound.

Pros: Good sound, comfortable, easy to use and set up.

Cons: none at this time

These Headphones Rock!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These headphones are very light weight and comfortable to wear, they produce Crystal Clear Highs and Super low bass. Work great with my Yamaha Work Station! I would definitely recommend them to any pro audio or home studio enthusiast.

Pros: Light weight, Crystal Clear with plenty of Bass. Never cut out, these wireless headphones are the best for the price!

Cons: I found it a little difficult to operate the small buttons on the right ear piece, but that would not stop me from buying again.

I love these headphones. I needed to get something wireless because I didn't want a cord stretched a cross my living room. The sound is superb, matched by the quality of the headphones. You will not be disappointed.

Pros: Very High Quality, so easy to hook up right out of the box. Fits very comfortable over ear and controls are easy to use while they are being used.

Cons: My television did not have a headphone jack or a RCA sound out. It did have a digital sound out but the headphone only came with a RCA cable. I bought a converter locally and a digital cable. Hooked it up and it works fantastic.

The RS 180 is an excellent value. I bought a second pair for the bedroom after months of using the first pair..

Pros: Sound quality is great,. Charging system is easy and effective for a good charge.

Cons: The buttons on the headphone are not easy to manipulate unless you take the headset off and look at the buttons. My solution was to put a small semi-round surface pad on the low volume button which protrudes higher than the other buttons and can be felt easily.

I've only used them for a few hours so far but I really like them. The sound isn't quite as good as with my 15'' woofer,4 ohm, 3-way Cerwin-Vega floor speakers and the Yamaha subwoofer I have connected to my Yamaha amp, but they are very close to that quality for headphones. I can now listen to my music without bothering anyone else in my house or the neighbors. They sound just as good in my garage or in the backyard. It' wonderful not being tied down with a wire. They have some great features also and they are comfortable to wear. If they last for many years I will be more than satisfied with this purchase.

Pros: Very good sound without being connected with a wire and very nice features. East to set up and get started.

Cons: After only a few hours of use I have no complaints.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As previously stated, yes the buttons are small and tough to distinguish, but the head phones are very comfortable. However, after putting the headphones away after wearing them, you have to reset your volume on the headphones every time, this is troublesome, even worse, it takes many pushes of the volume button to get it back to hear it and you have to unplug the sending unit to get it to work, very poor design.

Pros: comfortable, sounds great

Cons: buttons too small, have to reset the sending unit every time to get it to work, multiple pushes of volume button to get to hear the volume

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Quick and easy to pair with transmitter but bit more awkward when pairing two phones to use at the same time. Sound is great - high and low frequencies pronounced well - especially for watching TV / movies, with very clear dialogue. Being open ear, they are very comfortable even when wearing for several hours. Has a very long transmit / receive range.

Pros: Great sound. Comfortable.

Cons: Can be very awkward (and frustrating) when getting two phones to pair together. Very basic instruction booklet provided (advanced booklet on cd that came in package).

Cons: None

Great sound, buttons poorly positioned

Written by: Steve from Texas on November 10, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sound is great. Wife had hard time making out speaking within movies and show, these solved that, she can clearly make out most every word now. Biggest complaints are the positions of the buttons (power, volume up/down, balance L/R). The power is between the volume buttons and as sensitive to touch as the volume, so you're almost guaranteed to turn off the headset trying to raise or lower the volume. All the buttons are also located on the same side, so when wearing if you don't hit the power button off you are almost as likely to inadvertently change the balance. Which brings up the other minor issue, as there is no reset or feedback to center the balance, you're left to fumble around the buttons while wearing it to get the balance back to center.

Pros: Great sound

Cons: Headset button positions are terrible - very easy to turn off while trying to adjust volume. No feedback to center balance. Transmitter has a self power off feature after five minutes of powering off headsets (nice, ...), but it requires manually powering back on at the transmitter. No settings to disable that or adjust that time. As the transmitter is extremely light, it requires two hands to turn back on as pushing button without headsets sitting in charge position will topple transmitter.

I have used Sennheiser headphones for several years. This edition, the RS 180, is the best yet. Excellent sound quality, comfortable fit over the ears.

Pros: Sound quality and fit.

Cons: I prefer the older version's volume control. The new "push-button" system is more difficult to use. But the sound quality is what I'm looking for....and this is the best yet.

Pros: the sound replaceable batteries very comfortable

Cons: Haven't found any

Hi Fidelity and great sound stage- so happy!

Written by: Doug R from Oregon on October 29, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First, I read reviews but normally don't write them. However, I've been so happy with these headphones that I'm taking the time to write one. I bought these to replace Sony MDR-RF970R that I had for many years but I recently broke. I was very happy with the Sony headphones - sound, range, comfort. In my review process I watched an online video review and decided to give these a try -- and I'm So Happy that I did. The video review was precisely my experience. Most of the reviews are accurate, but I think many of the "cons" are overblown. You'll note mine below, but I wanted to touch on two that I don't agree with here: * Wireless Range - very good. I have 2 story, 3100 sq ft home and I can listen anywhere. I can also go outside and in back yard. If I go beyond - say - my driveway they cut out. However, I don't need a range that includes my neighbor's homes. * Delay/sync issue with TV source - some say that having TV on with headphones created a noticeable sync/delay with dialog. I tried to convince myself I had the same, but I didn't. Frankly, this would be an immediate deal breaker for me. Maybe it's a source issue? I have a Samsung HDTV. * "Open ear" - I didn't understand this comment. What I would say is that they let more outside sound in than my Sony, but that's a tradeoff for comfort. I use them in a busy "great room" environment with no regrets. At this price the headphones are a steal. Get them!

Pros: * Wide soundstage - all sounds are captured and well balanced * Great fidelity - reproduction of music, voice, and background was spot on * Amazing detail - my first test was joining "Cry Freedom" movie in the middle. OMG - birds, wind, dialog, dogs were crystal clear and balanced. I didn't realize what I was missing with my Sony headset. My young son even noticed the detail. * Comfort - perfect. Not much more to say. Again, my Sony were acceptable but these are exceptional on ear.

Cons: These are all very, very minor nits. I considered not mentioning - these should not dissuade a purchase. * As documented by others, the power & volume controls are wonky. Tactile feel could be better, but this is not a deal breaker. Super glue dot would fix. * Right/left ear balance adjustment could be helpful or a nuisance. Not an issue for me. * You have to "turn on" both base and headphones each use. Didn't have to do this with my Sony, but it's a simple process.

Pros: Great, nicely balanced sound, easy set-up, and comfortable wearing factor for easy listening.

Cons: Other than the headphone control buttons are a tad to close to each other, these are great headphones, hands down.

Love the head phones they do what I needed them for bedroom at night. The sound is very good, quality is good for me, others said the vol. and other buttons where a problem I don't find this to be the case. They are not noise proof but, they don't say they are,I like to hear the phone or someone get my attention . The set up is easy but instructions are not very helpful, the printed ones that is. They come with a DVD but I did not watch it, Like I said ,they are very easy to figure out how to setup.

Pros: Overall great.

Cons: None really, just what I wanted when I ordered them. Try to know what you want when you buy and you will love these headphones, They do a great job.

These headphones represent a very good value in terms of sound quality and comfort for the sale price paid. They also have good range around the house and are easy to set up. The problems I have with them are twofold - poor ergonomics with poorly placed volume/balance/power buttons on the headphone and a distortion problem when "over driven" by the receiver, even at low receiver power levels. You have to take the headphones off to adjust volume/balance/power as the buttons are not conveniently placed and can be hit by accident when simply adjusting phones on my head. Also, I hear a loud popping sound and then the volume decreases if I have my 110-watt receiver volume over "2", like the headphones are being over driven. I have to remember to keep the receiver volume at "2" and to make any additional volume adjustment using the headphone controls. I had already set the transmitter attenuator switch to -8db but this did not help. Still, I can live with this as the headphones are an overall good value on sale.

Pros: Comfortable Good Sound Reproduction Good Range Great Sale Price

Cons: Poor Button Ergonomics Very Sensitive To Being Overdriven if Receiver Volume Even Slightly High

These headphones were exactly what I needed! I live in an apartment and need to be considerate of my neighbors. Unfortunately, that means keeping my home theatre system at a much lower level than I would like. I was very worried that I would be sacrificing clarity and depth of bass when using headphones, but I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the Sennheiser RS 180. They are very comfortable and the sound is clear. I have had no problems using these throughout my apartment and have experienced no cut-outs or loss of sound quality. I have actually been able to discern more background sounds while listening to music and watching broadcast television and DVD's. I could not be happier with these headphones and highly recommend them!

These cans sound very good for the money (at least with the price cut) and do what I want them to. They allow me to listen in relative privacy and roam about with very good reception. Sound quality is very good (Sennheiser makes good stuff) but are a bit Bass heavy. This will probably be good for movies when I get to them but for now I'm using them to listen to LPs while my better half sleeps.

Pros: Very good sound, great reception.

Cons: Supplied mini audio cable is very cheap and thin, 'Phones are on the bass heavy side and may require EQ for certain applications

I am replacing Sennheiser T 60 wireless earphones that were marginally good so i wasn't sure what to expect. The technology is so much better with the RS 180 - clear as a bell over fairly long distances. I got an extra HDR 180 so my wife and i could both use them at the same time. She loves them too. The headsets are lightweight, comfortable and sound great. My only complaint is that the power and volume controls are very hard to locate and operate by feel. I usually have to take the headset off and look at them. Maybe over time it will get easier.

My husband has a hearing loss that significantly diminishes his TV watching experience. It's difficult for him to hear spoken dialog when there's background sounds and music - which is much of the time. The increased volume of the commercials are distressing and he constantly has to reach for the remote to mute them. With the Sennheiser 180 these issues are alleviated. I did a great deal of research on headsets that would address needs related to hearing impairment and the 180 came highly recommended. When I purchased our new Visio TV, I made sure that it had an RCA audio-out port into which I could directly plug the transmitter. Setup was simple and easy after viewing a YouTube demo. The headset is lightweight and comfortable. He is able to wear the headset over his hearing aids. The ability to adjust the sound volume for each ear is helpful. The sound is great and, true to claims, the dialog is significantly more distinct in front of background music/sounds. Even the banter of football sportscasters is clearer over the crowd noise. The sound leveling feature softens the loud commercial volume. The open headset provides great sound but also lets you hear environmental sounds. We haven't yet tried the 180 with a music source, but I'm guessing it would be a great way to listen to music. I also researched cost and found Crutchfield's pricing to be the best by far, especially when considering that you can return them within a 60 day period if they don't meet your needs.

Pros: In our experience at this point, the Sennheiser 180 has lived up to the advertising claims. We're pleased with the set. Pluses are clarity of sound, ease of setup and comfort.

Cons: The one negative, as has been mentioned by other reviewers, is the sound adjustment buttons on the headset which are pretty much tactually indistinct. This can be remedied by creating raised dots with a drop super glue.

I ordered these so I could listen to the TV while my wife sleeps. The setup is easy. The sound quality is great. The headsets are very comfortable, and feel very well constructed. The noise reduction is almost non-existent. With the volume pretty low, to avoid disturbing my wife, I could still hear all the usual sounds of the football game I was watching, plus some details I hadn't previously heard very well. With the ACL activated, I could really hear the crowd (heard a few inappropriate comments) and the QBs making audible calls. All the sounds were still very balanced, but the detail of the background was noticeable. The things you'd have to turn your TV up to full-blast to hear came through crystal clear even at low volumes. The earcups do have an Open style, so they don't do much (if anything) to reduce outside noise and are prone to sound leakage at higher volumes. I was able to carry on a conversation with my wife, while wearing the headsets, without her having to raise her voice for me to hear. While testing them, I turned the volume up pretty high, and she could hear what I was listening to from across the room. That being said, you don't need to turn them up very loud to be able to hear everything coming from your TV or stereo. The velour earpads are soft and don't itch. After 3 hours of wearing them, I didn't feel any pinching/squeezing. But, the headsets don't extend so people with larger/wider heads could have a different experience

Pros: Great sound quality Very comfortable

Cons: Prone to sound leakage at High Volumes Headset doesn't extend

These sound much better than my three year old Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones - which I find to be pretty good most of the time. In certain violin music the QCs produce a very strange spitting/clipping noise that's quite irritating. The RS180 handles the same passages perfectly well. Speaking of irritating, the one AAA cell feature of the QCs drove me nuts; it generally meant the phones were dead when I picked them up. With two AAA's the RS180s should last twice as long. Finally, having no cord to worry about is marvelous. The leather on QCs is more comfortable, but the reason I am replacing them is that it's coming off. On the other hand, the space for ears is bigger in the Sennheiser 'phones, so the material near the ears matters less. It is my hope that these Sennheiser 'phones will be more durable. So far as 'coolness' is concerned, I don't care much. One strange thing: They did not work at first, and I had read the manual, then unplug the station and plug it in again. I've had to do this several times, and it is irritating. Hoping this problem abates.

Pros: Great Sound, Wireless, Seamless Recharging, Two Batteries

Cons: Sensitive to Line Noise, Not Quite so Plush-Feeling as Bose

These sound amazing! Seriously, I can't believe how clear and crisp. The batteries have yet to die. They stay connected and the range is pretty good, reaching to all parts of the house. Only the microwave seems to interfere with them. The open design sounds like you are IN the action rather than listening to the action from a recording, if that makes sense. Now for why they don't get 5 stars... Room for improvement in user friendliness. While everything does work, it could be alot easier to work. Pushing the on / off buttons on the transmitter and the headphones you have to hold the buttons for more than a second and they don't always do what you want the first time. I have actually had the transmitter come on by itself from static electricity. The headphones don't always shut off or on with the first try and can sometimes come back on by themselves. The buttons on the headphones themselves could have a better tactile feel. It all works, just not without some trouble. Hence, 4 and not 5 stars. Also, my head is pretty big. I wear extra large hats / helmets. My headphones have to be ALL the way open to fit and just barely at that. I would like just a tad bit more room both in the earcups and between the headband and the earcups. Just a tad. Being an open design, they are pretty comfortable with my ears never getting hot. All in all, no regrets whatsoever.

Pros: Sound, comfort, everything works

Cons: Not very user friendly, especially for some that may be tech challenged.

Bought these headphones for the TV in our bedroom. I was keeping my Wife awake watching the TV at night. She now sleeps well by not being kept awake. Sound is fantastic. Listening to cable movie stations, dialog sounds very similar to the theater. Also has surround sound which is awesome!!! Velour on ear cups. Very Comfortable!!

Pros: Sound. Comfort. Ease of use

I was looking for some upper end wireless headphones for viewing TV while my better half is sleeping and kept looking for a long time to find a good deal. I previously had a pair of Sony Headphones which worked fine and were very easy to use but there was quite some sound leakage. So I got these from Crutchfield on a sale and paid $300 for the main headphones and base, along with an extra pair of headphones. The headphones are of good quality and fit snugly over my ears. The sound quality is very good and with almost no noise leakage. My only gripe is that the volume control buttons are very flat, difficult to locate without taking the headphones off and next to the power button which accidentally keeps getting pressed turning the headphones off. The designer should have considered a dial for volume control and a push button for power. That would have made these headphones very user friendly. Still for the price I feel I got quality headphones which I would recommend

I bought these headphones for my husband, who has a problem hearing TV when we are watching in the evening. You know how that goes, he has to turn it up so high that it hurts my ears. These headphones are perfect for him; he can hear the TV very well, and understand every word. They were also very easy to hook up to our smart TV. Now if only we could use them in a restaurant!

I purchased this item to have a wireless headset that I can use for both music while I'm doing other things and also for movies. I've had them for a month and I've not been disappointed -- the sound is great and they are very comfortable. They feel pretty solid which also gives me some confidence in their quality. They were very easy to set up and connect. As far as the noise reduction they are not really meant to be noise reduction/ canceling headphones so it's as expected. Downside it the buttons are not intuitive (too close together and not raised marks) but I don't really care bout that. The reasons I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that the range is not as good as they claim -- so their are fine within a few rooms on the same floor but forget about going outside or going upstairs/downstairs. Still works out fine for what I need but if you need a wider range you may want try them out at a local store first (ex. Best Buy). Coolness factor? I don't really care about this at all. If all you are looking for is cool with bad sound -- then buy Beats.

Pros: Sound excellent, good quality, very comfortable Can still hear some background noise (ex. door bell, some conversation) -- good if you don't want to be cut off from the world.

Cons: Range - not more than an few rooms. Can still hear some background noise (ex. door bell, some conversation) -- bad if you don't want the outside world to interfere with your listening.

Great headphones, but the AUX in and flimsy feel of the actual headphones force me to give them a 4 star overall rating. They're comfortable beyond belief, and the wireless feature is very nice for gaming. From my brief experience with them, the sound quality is phenomenal. They do not cancel out noise in any way. Know that if you're thinking of buying these and need good noise canceling.

Pros: Great sound quality. The Kleer system does not appear to reduce sound quality and is highly convenient. Light weight and overly comfortable. You almost forget they're on. Convenient charging stand makes for easy storage. I use these for gaming, and although I haven't got to use them much, these trump my old turtle beaches by leaps and bounds. They do have a balance adjustment as well.

Cons: The AUX in is a disappointment if you like your fancy cables for better sound. The charge time of the batteries out of the box is 16 hours. Also, the construction of the headphones makes me feel as though I would break them if o sneezed while wearing them.

In looking for wireless headphones, I naturally settled on Sennheiser but wasn't sure which one. When I saw Crutchfield's price drop on the 180s, I had my answer. i'm incredibly pleased with everything about these headphones. They're really comfortable and lightweight, sound quality is superb and the signal is excellent. I can travel about 30 feet and 3 rooms away before the signal cuts out. I don't know what other models sound like but I'm totally satisfied with these 180s.

This is the second set of this item I have purchased (used on bedroom TV). The only significant thing I can find wrong to gripe about are the volume control buttons. There is no way to reach up and feel the up or down buttons as they are both flat in the curve of the structure. What I do is buy "raised stick-on circles/bumps" found at stationary stores and super glue a large one on the up button and a smaller one on the down. The product maker should incorporate raised nodules into the plastic mold when manufacturing this item.

Pros: One of the best in the class for the money

Cons: Very Bad sound control feature.

The RS-180 was very simple to set up and the sound was great - it made the dialog much clearer for me, which was why I purchased these to begin with. I knew there were potential issues with the open-cell design, but other reviews convinced me this wouldn't be an issue unless the speaker volume was very high. Unfortunately, for me, it was a problem. I have a small family room, so perhaps distance is a factor, but when the TV speakers were on for others in the room (even at low volume), it resulted in an echo in the headphones. To counteract that, I had to increase the volume of he headphones more than was comfortable. The system performs as advertised and it is a great system, but the open-cell design didn't work for me. I will try closed-cell next.

Pros: Ease of setup, comfort, overall sound quality.

Cons: Open-cell design resulted in echo in my setup, even at relatively low television speaker volume.

Pros: Very good to excellent sound reproduction. Easy to sit up and use.

Cons: Two - 1) Ear cup design could be larger - If they were like the cups on Sennheiser HD 518 - they'd be perfect. 2) There needs to be some visual system that allows the user to quickly determine true center point audio balance.

I bought the RS180 as an upgrade for my husband's RS120. The new headphones look very nice and are definitely more comfortable on the ears. Soundwise they are very good - although I really expected a bigger difference from the sound of the RS120. The only thing that I wasn't expecting is how much I can hear when sitting beside my husband. With the old headphones I didn't hear anything. With these new ones, I can definitely hear the tv show that's playing. Of course, this was the "open" option versus "closed" so I guess this is the difference. He has only used them once (it's an early birthday present) so far. I will update the review once he has used them more and has a better chance to decide how he likes them. He doesn't like the volume controls as much as he did on the older set.

Pros: Comfortable on ears

Cons: Volume controls are not easy to use. More sound leaks out than expected.

Very clear audio, even from far away. Comfortable. Build quality less durable than expected, but shouldn't be a problem unless they are dropped often or mishandled. Controls, as reported, are tricky to get used to, but work fine. Pairing multiple headsets can be tedious. Have a friend help by activating the base while you activate both headsets at once, then wait for both headsets to have audio.

Pros: Great sound and reach. Comfortable.

Cons: Tiny controls, tedious pairing process.

My wife and I have used Sennheiser sets for years and have loved them. This is a replacement purchase for a old set (still works, but are badly worn). The pros and cons listed below are based on that fact. Old vs New. Wish I could find "new" stock of older model for purchase.

Pros: 1. Lightweight 2.Has control buttons rather than roller, so you don't accidently change the settings by roller hitting pillow, etc. However, the buttons are so small and flat they are hard to feel.

Cons: 1. Husband has hearing loss and his balance settings automatically "pair" to my set...only volume can be controlled individually. This is a deal killer for us. 2. Automatically shuts off after 5 min, so don't plan to watch TV in the middle of the night without having to get out of bed to turn the transmitter on (developed for the seriously green). 3. Over ear pads are much smaller than previous models. 4. Buttons are hard to feel while wearing.

I have an old pair of Beyerdynamic sealed cup headphones I use for live recording and a set of open back Stax electret headphones for home listening. For home listening I find I prefer these. It is possible the Stax are better but in detail but since my high frequency hearing has diminished, these Sennheiser are great. I love the fact that these are wireless also. I have had Sennheiser phones before but they had always made my ears itchy. These are supra-aural and are quite comfortable.

Pros: Sound great, decent range, very comfortable. Reduce external sound fairly well but still do not isolate you from surroundings. Not sealed cup for live recoding outside a booth but great for home listening or TV. Bass surprisingly good for an open air phone. The big old Koss may have had more bass but not as real sounding as these.

Cons: Controls too difficult to access while wearing the headphones

I purchased the Sennheiser RS180 wireless headphones because I have a hearing loss. Watching tv and being able to hear what is being said is a real problem for me. It's also a problem for my wife because I have to turn the volume up pretty high. She has extremely good hearing so this is very annoying. These headphones have made a huge difference. Now I can hear the voices much better and my wife can have the tv volume where she wants it. The volume on the headphones can be adjusted by pushing some buttons on the rightside headphone. The volume can go much higher than I need it to be. The only minor negative issue is the way the volume is adjusted. The two buttons on the headphone the user has to push are quite small. I cannot adjust them while they are on my head. I have to remove them so I can see the buttons and then make the adjustment of volume up or down. The quality of the sound is excellent and they are very easy to hook-up to a tv. I actually move them between two different tv's in my home. Some day I may purchase a second set so I won't have to keep moving them back and forth. I highly recommend them to anyone researching wireless headphones.

Pros: Sound quality, range of volume, easy to install.

Cons: Volume buttons

Excellent product and when it's on sale the price is terrific. My wife has some hearing loss and after researching Headphones I choose these for her as a Christmas present. Only issue is hooking up to a TV--you have to find an audio output and I needed to buy a splitter to take the speaker outputs and feed the headphones too. Does interfere with snuggling a bit when she wears the headphones but I can keep the volume down on the TV and she listens to the headphones. Quality and appearance are definitely 5 star--if it included the splitter I'd give it 5 stars overall!

You just can't go wrong with a purchase from Crutchfield, you can always be sure of quality products and helpful assistance. Thank you Crutchfield.

Just got these for Christmas and i love them they have great sound except when volume is all the way up they sort of crackle when there is bass. I also think there could be a little more bass to them but overall i absolutely love them so far!

Pros: Great sound and noise cancelling!

Cons: Could use a little more base and they crackle when there is bass on higher volume.

Installation was very easy to do, since the TV did not have audio output jack, I went out of the cable boxes digital audio port to a converter box, sound was clear and sharp coming from the headphone speakers.

This is our second set of Sennheiser 180 headphones with base station. We love them. We have a high end sound system in our main home theater area but our room acoustics are not great and the headphones provide much better sound quality and detail. While our listening areas are usually quiet, we like the open back as it allows us some connection with our surroundings. A big advantage to the headphones is the ability to listen to programming without intruding on anyone nearby who is not interested in hearing the content.

Pros: Great sound quality and value.

Cons: The buttons on the headphones could be better differentiated. Once you get used to operating them it is not a problem.

The RS 180 is a very good product, the only thing that I do not like about it is the same thing that others have mentioned, the push button controls on the right head phone are difficult to operate. I find myself have trouble finding the button that I want without removing the headset to operate it. I am slowly getting used to it.

Pros: Quality of the produce

Cons: I do not like the button controls on the headset

Headphones are clear and the sound is succinct. It takes some getting used to the "open sound" you receive due to the open webbing. Eventually, you learn that not everything you are hearing is coming from the movie or music. The ambient sounds have pros and cons: you can hear the phone or doorbell ring, but you can be distracted by other noises in the room.

Pros: Great sound, Good price, "Ear Cups" that breathe

Cons: Velour on the "Ear Cups" is not as smooth as expected. In fact, the material can be irritating and itchy after about an hour.

Tried six other wireless brands, returned them all. The RS 180 sound great, are comfortable and are easy to control. Used only for music on a newer mid-level receiver. Have had them for about one month and I will be keeping them. Wireless range a little less than I hoped for but do cover the range I need which is most of my house. These are not noise reducing headphones. Even at moderate volume I do hear background noise from (ie. people talking in the room).

Pros: Easy to set up and use.

Cons:

I have had 5 pr of senn wireless headsets the others were not digital. i think I will try the RS 170 with the closed design ear piece. I think my older ones had better sound quality. But it could be the open design

Pros: How do you go wrong w/ sennheiser great product

Cons: You need better engineers. layout for buttons stink

The sound is pretty good though I think my Klipsch earbuds sound better--a lot better, too bad my earbuds aren't wireless. I needed wireless headphones so I can watch my multitude of Blu ray movies whenever I want, not just on movie night at the house and I can now watch my 3d Blu Rays at my leisure. Out of the box I was extremely disappointed with the sound, popping and crackiling at every beat of a drum or any kind of boom (something I never experienced in any headphone I've ever owned) and was about to put them back in the box when I thought that maybe it was distortion so I lowered the volume on my Denon receiver and the sound improved. Wound up having to lower it all the way to -45db. and then turn up the volume on the headphones almost to max. Got rid of the distortion. As for the wireless distance, I have a 2 story 3,000 sq. ft home and the headphones worked flawlessly as far away from the base as I could possibly get, even going outside to the house next door. As for any cons, for the money I would expect les plastic--a lot less. Also wish I could find surround sound headphones (other than the new Sony's that are in Japan).

Pros: Long Range Wireless, good sound quality

Cons: Price, build quality.

I purchase these headphones for mu husbands birthday. All I can say is that he is truly amazed. Our son in law has a similar pair and my husband had spoken about how great the sound reduction was. He was very happy to receive them and has told numerous people whom have already purchased them from you.

Pros: Great price for an amazing product!!

Love these wireless headphones in every way. My only complaint is I wish I could use them on my stereo while still playing the stereo at a comfortable level for others. I have an Onkyo receiver with Bose speakers for my home stereo system and my poor hearing causes me to want to listern to the system louder than others. I had hoped that these wireless headphones would allow me to listen to music or a movie at a different volume than others, but the only way I could connect the headphones to my receiver was via the headphone jack which shuts down the stereo speakers. Hence the headphones work great when I listen to a movie alone, but do not work for their intended purpose. The clarity of voice is so good, I use them all the time rather than the normal stereo speakers as long as I am alone.

Better than the RS220s

I originally purchased the Sennheiser flagship wireless earphones (RS-220s) and was impressed by their build quality, the controls, their comfort, and the sturdy attractive design. Unfortunately, the RS-220s use an awful transmitter than cuts out & pops/hisses about every 20 seconds. For $500 that is unacceptable. So, I unhappily downgraded to the RS-180s. In short, these sound just as good as the 220s and never cut out or pop/hiss. They are well made but certainly a step down from the RS-220s. Overall I'm very happy with them and look forward to years of use. If Sennheiser ever fixes their 220s, maybe I'll give them another look, but until that time, the RS-180s are as nice a wireless headphone as you can buy.

Pros: -Great sound quality -Very rare for audio to drop out -Good range -Very comfortable

Cons: -Button layout is horrendous. It will take quite a bit of practice before you can adjust the volume without accidentally turning them off -Quality 'feel' is inferior to the RS-220s for both the headphones and the base

Sound quality is very good, but I haven't worn headsets for years, so nothing to really compare them to. I listen to music several hours a day, I listen for certain instruments and sounds. The Sennheiser 180 s miss very little compared to my speakers...bass has a different sound but I would expect that..These ear phones against 3800 dollar speakers...It s great to be able enjoy my porch swing and my music at the same time.. well worth the money. If you buy, I recommend the attenuation switch be set to no compression, my preference.

Pros: Easy set up, mobility is great, good sound, and packed by Crutchfield.

Cons: The ear pads are hot to my ears, I am a hot natured person. I've solved the problem with cloth pad covers. The markings on the headset could be raised a little more making it easier to identify the controls by touch.. that would be it....
