The Polaroid XS100i includes mounts for helmets and handlebars to help you capture the action without slowing down.
When you go on vacation, there's not much strolling down boulevards or static shots of tall buildings. You're more likely to be on the trail, in the water or flying through the air. You need a camera that can handle your idea of fun; it has to be tough.
The Polaroid XS100i is built with sports action in mind. It's waterproof up to 30 feet, and shock proofing technology protects it against drops and bumps. It uses anti-shake technology and a gyro sensor to help keep the shot still even when you're not. You'll be prepared to capture fluid HD video through the ultra wide-angle lens and 16 megapixel CMOS sensor built in to the camera's aerodynamic chassis.
When you're skating, skiing, biking, surfing or skydiving, you may not have the opportunity or desire to fiddle with your camera. The XS100i employs a quick-change mounting system, with helmet and handlebar mounts included, so you can set it and forget it. Action footage can be captured in 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps), 960p at 30 fps and 720 at 60 fps. In addition, the camera can simultaneously shoot video and still images with single, burst, continuous and time lapse modes. The camera body vibrates to confirm settings, so you can be sure it's good to go when visual confirmation is difficult or impossible. As a final touch to help you "live in the moment," the XS100i is equipped with built in Wi-Fi that lets you remotely control the camera and share files instantly through your mobile device.
The camera works well and I am able to link my iphone and the camera via the camera's wireless. In doing so, you are able to use your smartphone as a viewfinder.
Pros: Small and lightweight. Wireless viewfinder via smartphone app.
Cons: You need to use the VLC viewer in order to hear the sound from the videos on Windows based systems. Somewhere there is a codec that will make it work on Win based system but I've not been able to find it.
The Polaroid XS100i has amazing function over my expectation. Its battery life was longer than ION and easier to control than Gopro. I will recommend it to all those who are looking for a sport cam during Skiing.
Pros: long battery life; easy to control; WIFI connection and Apps ready;
Cons: The wifi connection was not stable and you should try several time to connect it with your smartphone.

Overview: The Polaroid XS100i is a small action camera that can record Full HD video and 5 MP still images. The camera has a wide-angle lens with a wide viewing range of 170°. It comes with a self-adhesive helmet mount and a bicycle handlebar clamp mount. The camera has a waterproof housing that allows use as deep as 30 feet under water (IPX8). The supplied waterproof cover keeps water out of the rear operation panel (card slot, USB and HDMI jacks). The XS100i has built-in Wi-Fi which enables you to adjust settings and control the camera remotely, watch video in real-time, and share videos with others wirelessly.
Memory Cards: The camera has a slot for a microSD card, and will accept microSD and microSDHC cards up to 32 GB. Class 6 or higher cards are recommended. At the rate of 4 GB per half-hour, you can record approximately 4 hours of full High Definition video. You can view files on the microSD card through the camera when connected to a computer or TV, or remove the microSD card and use a card reader to view the files. The camera has a small (32MB) internal memory for recording a few test shots.
Video Recording: The XS100i records video in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video format with AAC audio. Full HD resolutions include 1080p (1920 x 1080/30 fps/16:9) and 960p (1280 x 960/30 fps/4:3). HD Resolutions include 720p (1280 x 720/16:9) at 60 fps (for slow motion playback) and 30 fps (for regular speed playback). You can switch between FHD and HD using the 2-way Video Resolution Switch.
Dual File Recording: When Full HD and HD videos are recorded, two files will be saved: one at the selected resolution, and another at 432 x 240 (16:9) or 320 x 240 (4:3), depending upon the aspect ratio of the full resolution video. The smaller file can be used for uploading to social media sites and for email.
Still Image Recording: In addition to video recording, the XS100i can record still images (JPEG) in 16MP (2592 x 1944), 5MP, 3MP, and VGA resolution. The camera will record single shots, Bursts of 10 frames per second, and Time Lapse photos with intervals of 5, 10, 30, and 60 seconds.
Built-in Wi-Fi: The XS100i features built-in Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n). There are two free apps--Remote and File--available for Android and iOS. The Remote app gives you full control of the camera wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet from distances of up to 25' (8 meters). You can change and view camera settings, start and stop video recordings, take photos via the smart device, and live stream the video. The File app lets you browse the files saved in the camera, and view them on your iOS or Android device. Photos and videos can be wirelessly downloaded to your device, and/or select which ones to upload to social media sites such as YouTube or Facebook.
Note: The XS100i File and Remote apps are available from Google Play for devices running Android 2.3.3 and up, and from the iTunes App Store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later.
Auto Rotation: The XS100i has a built-in G-sensor, which can detect the camera's orientation. If you mount your camera at 90°, 180°, or 270° from the default position, the recorded view will be rotated to the same angle. This allows you to mount the camera at different angles without recording a rotated view. The video resolution is adjusted for 90° and 270° angled mounts: 1080p becomes 608 x 1088, 960p becomes 720 x 960, and 720p becomes 416 x 720. The Auto Rotation feature can be turned off in the General Menu, and does not apply to still photos.
Note: You should begin recording with the camera at the desired rotation. Auto Rotation does not change the angle during recording.
Camera Vibrations: Since the camera has no display, it will vibrate a number of times to indicate certain conditions. The camera will vibrate when battery power is low, when power is turned on or off, when recording starts and stops, and when the microSD card is full.
Power Requirements: The XS100i has a built-in, non-removable 3.7V 1200mAh Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery, which charges via USB in approximately 3 hours. Battery life is approximately 2.5 hours.
Camera Settings: To change the default settings, you must utilize the camera's built-in software. In the Video menu (visible on your computer's monitor), you can change the FHD and HD resolutions. In the Photo menu, you can change the photo resolution, photo mode, and the time lapse interval. In the General menu, you can change the TV type (NTSC/PAL), Auto Power Off (1-min/3-min/Off), Auto Image Rotation (On/Off), and set the Date and Time manually or sync the camera with your computer.
Software: The camera comes with built-in software, which can be downloaded to your computer when you connect the camera via USB. The built-in software is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP (SP3). A Mac version of the software (OS X 10.4 and above) is available from the Polaroid website.
Mounting: The XS100i comes with multiple mounts. The Bicycle Mount can be used on a pole or handle bars from 0.75" to 1.4" in diameter. The Helmet Mount can be used with vented and non-vented helmets using the supplied long or short straps. Both mounts have a ball socket that will accommodate the straight or angled ball joints. The supplied Mount Lock attaches to the camera and locks into place on the ball joints. The ball joint system allows you to change the angle of the camera as desired. If either mount isn't practical (or for extra security), you can mount the camera using one of the included 3M adhesive pads. A security string is supplied to tether the camera to the Helmet or Bicycle Mount.
