About the Garmin Foretrex 401
Hands-free during your next adventure
Hands-free during your next adventure
If you're hiking, skiing, or camping, it's handy and convenient to keep your hands free. The Foretrex 401 GPS navigator boasts a slim profile so it won't get in the way when you're on the move, and its rugged, waterproof design stands up to the elements and those inevitable hard knocks.
Foretrex 401 accurately tracks distance and elevation changes
Foretrex 401 boasts an electronic compass to point you in the right direction, plus a barometer to accurately measure elevation changes. When you're on the move, it tracks your path and displays a dotted trail on the screen, so you can retrace your steps with the TracBack® feature. You can save up to 500 waypoint locations in Foretrex's memory to keep track of important locations like your vehicle, campsite, water sources, or beauty spots. Combine waypoints to create and store routes. Foretrex 401 also includes a trip computer and info on sunrise/sunset times, plus hunting and fishing information.
Plan Your Next Trip
Garmin's Base Camp software helps you plan your expeditions — organizing your maps, routes, waypoints, and tracks and uploading them to your device. Base Camp displays 2-D or 3-D topgraphical info, so you'll know the terrain before you hit the trail.
Connect and share when you're back home
Connect Foretrex to your computer with the USB port and store your waypoints, routes and tracks on your computer. Log on to Garmin Connect™ on the Internet and get a detailed look at your activities, including viewing your activities on Google™ Earth, or exploring routes uploaded from millions of other Garmin Connect users. You can use Connect to share your experiences on Twitter® and Facebook®. If you're on the trail, you can use Foretrex 401's wireless capabilities to share info with other compatible Garmin devices.
