Product Overview: The Garmin
iQue 3600 is a digital personal organizer that incorporates a 12 parallel
channel GPS receiver and personal navigator that gives you automatic routing
and detailed mapping. In addition to keeping up with your daily appointment
schedule and personal contacts, it continually tracks and uses up to 12
satellites to compute and update your position every second.
Processor: The
unit is powered by a 200 MHz Motorola DragonBall MXL ARM 9 processor with Palm
OS 5 operating system and Garmin Que Technology.
Que Technology:
The innovative Que Technology applications include a 44.1 kHz MP3 player, GPS
clock, Address Lookup, Electronic Mapping, Track log, Trip Computer, Automatic
Route Generation, and Turn-by-Turn voice guidance.
Palm OS 5:
The Palm OS 5.2.1 operating system applications include an Address Book,
Calculator, Datebook, Memo Pad and To Do List.
WAAS Capability: This unit is
compatible with WAAS (Wide-Area Augmentation System), a system of satellites and
ground stations that provide GPS signal corrections, giving you position
accuracy of better than three meters 95 percent of the time.
Display:
The iQue 3600 features a 3.8" diagonal LCD screen with a resolution of 320
x 480 pixels, 16-bit color and white LED backlighting.
Basemap: The
iQue 3600 has a
built-in basemap with state and country boundaries, lakes, rivers, streams,
airports, cities, towns, coastlines, state and interstate highways, local
thoroughfares, and secondary roads within metro areas.
MapSource City Select CD: The
included MapSource City Select CD-ROM software (North America Version 5) gives you routable
street-level details, addresses, and over 5 million points of interest, such as
food and drink, lodging, attractions, entertainment, and shopping. These
detailed maps and routes are then downloaded into the unit from your computer.
(For computer compatibility, see System Requirements below)
Internal Memory: This unit has
32 MB of internal memory for storing data from the included CD, plus topographical
maps, fishing information, and more from optional MapSource CDs.
Optional External Memory: In
addition to the built-in memory, the iQue 3600 has a slot for an SD memory card
or MultiMedia Card (not supplied). You can store QueVoice messages or playback
MP3 or WAV music files recorded on the memory card on this unit.

built-in antenna flips up to a vertical position for best satellite reception.
Audio Hardware: The
iQue 3600 features a built-in microphone for recording voice files to use as
reminders, notations or messages. The built-in speaker and headphone jack
(mini-jack) allow you to listen to voice files, voice prompts, and MP3 or WAV
files stored on the external memory card.
Graffiti 2: You
can quickly enter alphanumeric data into the iQue 3600 by using the supplied
stylus and "handwriting" the entry using Graffiti 2 strokes. Graffiti
2 Strokes are similar to handwritten letters, and are recognized by the unit
when "written" with the stylus. A list of the Graffiti 2 Strokes is
provided on a self-adhesive sheet that can be attached to the unit.
Interface Capability: This
unit can be connected to a PC using the supplied USB HotSync cradle via the
attached USB cable (Type A connector). You can also import and export data (WAV
audio files) via infrared beam with another handheld unit with the same feature.
Power Requirements: The
iQue 3600
operates on a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The battery charges
when docked to the HotSync cradle or connected to the supplied AC adaptor. A
fully-charged battery can provide approximately 2 weeks standby time or
approximately 10 days battery life if used an average of 30 minutes a day with
backlight off. Note: Frequent use of the GPS receiver significantly
shortens battery life. When using the iQue 3600 in your vehicle, use of the
optional Garmin Auto Nav Kit (item # 150iQUECAR) is highly recommended.
GPS
Applications
QueGPS:
QueGPS is an information type application that displays the current status of
satellite reception by showing the location and numbers of the satellites in the
sky overhead. A signal-strength bar at the bottom of the page shows the signal
strength of each satellite being received. You can use QueGPS to determine your
current location coordinates, current speed, approximate elevation (above sea
level), and view the current date and time.
QueMap:
The QueMap application displays a detailed map of the area surrounding your
current location. You can pan the map with the stylus as well as view your
progress when navigating.
Track Up/North Up: You
can switch the orientation of the QueMap from "North Up" (oriented
like a paper map) to "Track Up" (oriented in the direction of travel).
When using "Track Up", a North arrow appears to show the map
orientation.
Map Scale: You
can change the map scale to show more map area with less detail, or more map
detail with less area. You can gradually change the scale using the side-mounted
thumbwheel or the front panel up/down keys, or move to a specific scale by using
the Map Scale Selector mode.
QueFind:
QueFind displays lists of geographic points in the map database and downloaded
detailed maps. The QueFind application allows you to use map data items, such as
Waypoints, Cities, Intersections, and Points of Interest to find desired
destinations and navigate to them using the QueRoutes application. You can also
view details about map items such as addresses and telephone numbers. Searches
can be made by several methods: Near Current Location, By Name, Near Map
Pointer, Near Route Destination or Near Other.
Que Tracks:
QueTracks is an application that records your path of travel. This can be used
to travel back to your point of origin and be saved for later use.
QueRoutes:
QueRoutes provide you with a graphic route line, plus graphic and voice
turn-by-turn directions to a chosen destination. You can select a destination
from any of the QueFind application categories, the Address Book, the QueMap
application, or a location attached to an entry in the Date Book.
QueTurns: QueTurns
is an application that can show you a list of turn-by-turn directions to a
destination.
QueTrip: You
can use the QueTrip application to provide you with the current status of your

(odometer), the direction you're traveling, current speed, stopped and driving
time, total time traveled, average speed and maximum speed.

manually, or when the GPS receiver is on, the time will be set automatically for
your location.
