Overview Details Staff Reviews Customer Reviews Category Info Accessories Our take on the Dynamat Xtreme Mega Pak by Dominic Devito Ask any installer. Dynamat Xtreme sound damping material keeps road noise out, so you'll hear more music using less power, effectively increasing your amplifier's output. This damping material a butyl composite with a layer of aluminum conforms and fuses to automotive body surfaces such as floor pans and doors. You'll hear less unwanted noise caused by vibrations and resonance and more of your favorite music, especially in the low-frequency range. The 10465 Mega Pak includes nine 24" x 48" sheets of Dynamat Xtreme, for a total of 72 square feet. A car door typically requires about 5 square feet of Dynamat Xtreme, but you can apply it just about anywhere. Dynamat Xtreme is designed with an energy-reflective aluminum layer ideal for high-temperature areas and high sound pressure level situations, offering four times the damping power of Original Dynamat. Features Installation Dimensions Features Dynamat Xtreme: Dynamat Xtreme provides 4 times the damping efficiency of Original Dynamat, the conforming ability of Premium Dynamat, and the radiant energy reflection of Super Dynamat. Dynamat Xtreme has an aluminum layer for high-temperature areas and requires "no heat" for an easy, moldable installation. Self-Adhesive Sheets: Each sheet has a high-tack permanent adhesive with a peel-off plastic liner on the back of the Dynamat Xtreme. Easy-to-Cut Materials: All materials cut easily with scissors or a razor knife. Installation Basic Installation Steps: Clean the mounting surface. Using a razor knife or scissors, cut the Dynamat to the desired size. Remove the blue release liner from the back of the Dynamat and apply to the mounting surface. Apply pressure, working the Dynamat into the contours of the mounting surface. Work air out with a roller tool (eliminating air pockets will ensure lasting adhesion of the Dynamat to the surface, giving you maximum damping effect). Repeat the same process for each sheet of Dynamat. The road noise created by the performance exhaust system, stiffer suspension, and wider tires is enough that I just never worried about music quality. So, why did I install it? Installing Dynamat in the floorpan, doors, back quarter panels, rear shelf, trunk, and trunk lid (all done with one Dynamat Extreme Mega Pack) has reduce the internal noise level in my car by what I estimate to be 40%. My wife was amazed the first time she rode in the car after the install. She was excited that she could enjoy a fun ride and be able to have a conversation without yelling over the car noise. Now if Dynamat could find a way to keep the noise out while the windows were down, I'd be in heaven! Now that the road noise is reduced so significantly, I have started playing with sound system upgrades. Suggestion: Invest in a good quality roller instead of a cheap one, a good blade to cut the pieces with, and a heat gun. I started the project without any of these and quickly realized just how valuable they were. It may add a little more to the cost, but trust me, all of it is worth EVERY PENNY! Pros: In a normal car, it would sound silent in your car, in a throaty sports car it reduces down the noise so you can enjoy the power without comprimise! Cons: Death by a million cuts. LOL Installation will result in minor cuts in your hands nomatter how carefull you are if you're not wearng gloves! Also, installation on a level like I did will require a full weekend. You'll want to strip the interior of your car out to do the job right, and you want to do the job right. It's not a quick fix. 3 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
