Our take on the Dynamat Dynaliner

by Leigh Schoettinger

Dynamat Dynaliner provides high acoustic absorption and excellent thermal insulation for a variety of vehicle applications. You can apply this self-adhesive Dynaliner sheet on top of Dynamat in several locations, such as your car's floor, doors, or roof. Dynaliner increases the efficiency of your vehicle's climate control system, improves stereo imaging by reducing high-frequency reflections, and reduces interior noise levels, especially in the low-frequency range.

Ultra-lightweight Dynaliner resists damage from oil and water, so you don't have to worry about accidental spills or splashes. Engineers constructed this ultra-lightweight insulator from crush- and tear-resistant material so it'll stand up in the challenging car environment. 1 sheet, 54" x 32" (12 square feet total ). Available in three thicknesses: 1/2", 1/4", and 1/8". Warranty: 60 days.

Overview: Dynaliner is an ultra-lightweight, closed cell, high performance insulation. It provides acoustic absorption and thermal insulation for a variety of vehicle applications. The dark gray Dynaliner has a self-adhesive backing, with a high-temperature acrylic adhesive, for easy application. This durable, crush and tear-resistant material is not affected by oil and does not absorb water. Dynaliner meets both UL (Underwriters Laboratory) and FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) flame resistance.

Typical Uses: Dynaliner is used on top of Dynamat in the doors, on the floor (under the carpet), behind the headliner, on the interior firewall, or under the hood. The Dynaliner/Dynamat combo can be used in place of carpet pad. Benefits include noise reduction, improved air conditioner/heater efficiency, and improved imaging (reduced high-frequency reflections).

Installation: Using a razor knife or scissors you can cut Dynaliner to the desired size and shape. Dynaliner is self-adhesive, and should be mounted on a clean surface, free from dust, grease, debris, or moisture. For best results, work evenly from one side to the other, applying even pressure.

Temperature Range: -30° to +200°F (-34°C to 94°C)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
The Dynamat Dynaliner worked well in our show displays. It also worked well for cushioning some sensitive components.
High quality material.
A little pricey.

Great product

Written By Derek, Ny on Saturday, June 22, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Bought carbon fiber hood and wanted to avoid cutting parts of it to make stock heat shield fit. After shopping around decided to give this a try. Was a bit difficult putting down by myself but eventually got it and not only does it look great it works amazing. After two hour drive in 90 degree weather hood was cool to the touch. A must use product when dealing with aftermarket hoods.
Flexible and adheres great once laid down
Difficult to get even set when trying to fit around things like air dam for TMIC.

Dynamat Dynaliner

Written By Glenn, Portland, Oregon on Tuesday, September 07, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
My wife and I installed Dynamat and Dynaliner on our 1952 Chevy Pickup daily driver.
Primarily to keep warmer during winter months. Installed on roof above headliner and
behind seat and in doors and on floor. It seems to help the sound system too. There are
other brands, but have used this before and know I can depend upon good results. And the
service from Crutchfield is excellent too. A company we have depended upon before.

Dynamat Dynaliner

Written By Erik, Visalia,Ca. on Sunday, March 15, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Product performed just like I expected. I covered the doors in my 72 Camaro, before installing rebuilt door panels, and modified speaker enclosures.
Used my heat gun to make it conform better to door frame, don't get it too hot, but that should be a no brainer!
Haven't finished with stereo install yet, so I can't tell you how much sound it blocks, but I expect it to be a major improvement over old 72 Camaro rattles.
Wish it was a little less expensive, I'd do the whole car!!!

1 question already asked

Which is best for trunk noise, most road noise comes from the trunk! This or the dynamat with the silver looking side? I am getting this for my sons 2012 Mazda 3. Also, how many should I buy? [ Dana  Dec 15, 2013 ]

  • that's a pretty cool father/ son bonding exercise! Anyways, they should have dynamat kits for trunks - i think it's called Extreme. You'll probably want to take out the side carpeting in his trunk and do that too. But likely it's like the dumb stuff like a license plate/ frame that rattles too. I typically put silicone bumpers on the back of those. [ ERIC T   Dec 28, 2013 ]
  • I would start with dynamat, you can always add dynaliner over it if your looking for extra quiet or have a ton of bass as for quanity bulk packs are generally a better buy, plus any extra can be used in doors, floor boards etc [ EUGENE   Dec 16, 2013 ]
  • If you are just worried about road noise this will work. The dynamat (silver lined) is used in applications where aftermarket bass is being used since it neutralizes rattling from panels. The amount you need is dependent on the size of the trunk. [ DEREK   Dec 16, 2013 ]
  • Dynamat First, then on top Dynaliner. Square Footage [ RICK   Dec 16, 2013 ]
