The versatile, ultra-compact Sony KDL-19M4000 lets you enjoy sharp, clear HDTV in any room: bedroom, kitchen, office, or a dorm room. Its light weight and built-in handle make it easy to pick up and carry from one room to another. You get built-in tuners for your local digital and analog over-the-air broadcasts (antenna required). Plus, a "QAM" cable TV tuner lets cable subscribers watch unscrambled channels without a set-top box — including HD channels in many areas.

The versatility theme continues with the KDL-19M4000's audio/video connections. You'll find two high-def-capable inputs — one HDMI and one component video — for hooking up the latest video gear. Plus, you get standard A/V inputs for use with conventional components like a VCR. There's also a handy computer input so you can put this TV to work as a PC monitor.

Poor viewing angle; no 1440x900 rez for PC

Written By Todd, Draper, UT on Wednesday, September 02, 2009

I bought this TV mostly because of its native 1440x900 resolution, which
matches that of my MacBook Pro. But when connecting it as a second monitor,
either via VGA or HDMI cable, it is utterly impossible to achieve native
1440x900 video mirroring that is pixel-perfect (1:1). Every possible setting
results in some combination of scaling, cropping or letterboxing. Very
disappointing-- if there's one resolution that should be supported it's the
display's native resolution.

As for TV viewing, your eyes must be ABOVE this screen or it will appear dark
for you. When using this TV for watching TV, it needs to sit atop an armoir. The
stand, however, makes it impossible to angle the screen down. I know I could
resolve this by mounting it on a swivel, but that pretty much defeats the
purpose of having a portable TV/PC monitor.

My last complaint is that the whole back case is white, not black.

On a positive note, I like the built-in carrying handle and the overall design
when viewed from the front.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The picture and sound are ok, not really what I would expect from sony. It is a tv that we choosed to use in our kitchen. Maybe I am just spoiled by my 52" sony.

OK but

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The picture on this set is very directional and changes brightness and color with vertical orientation. The audio mute button is very small and hard to push. I guess Sony don't want you to mute their commercials. The Audio out is low level requiring an additional amplifier and no way to control the level as it is not controled by the remote. A second remote for the external amp I guess.

Excellent product

This is a really sweet little box, and makes a perfect digital replacement for smaller analog TVs which may be on their last legs or have died/will be dying before the digital cut-over on Feb 17, 2009. Worked perfectly out of the box, picking up all 13 of the analog stations that the previous 20-year old Sony did. In addition, it has good reception of the almost all of the local digital stations (problems with the local ABC affiliate, whose digital signal may be being overwhelmed by the local NBC affiliate's digital signal, due to relative positions of transmitting antennas and/or channel frequency separation). I would certainly recommend this unit to friends and family. The other good point is that the user menus are pretty straight-forward and easy to figure out, even without reading the manual.

Excellent TV & Service

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The TV showed up delivered within a couple of days. Very speedy and was in good shape. The TV works excellent, even looks good outside when tailgating. HD to beautiful to watch. Would recommend the TV to anyone with the need of a smaller portable TV. Love the handle on top. Would love a soft case for it, but can't find one. Crutchfield also had the best price around with free shipping. LOVE IT.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound on this 19" Sony model is wonderful! Had several other make LCD's that were very "tinny." That sold us immediately! No fault with the picture quality.

Crutchfield was right on. Set arrived a day ahead of schedule. No strain - no pain!
