Picture went out after only 7-8 months of use

Received TV from Crutchfield (through EGL) on 2/06/08 and picture went out (completely) on 9/20/08; picture would go black for about a second during the last month or so. Sony gives 2 options: (1) have a local repair person come to your home (Sony provided a couple phone numbers in my area code); or (2) exchange your TV with a refurbished one. I chose the second option after discussing both with a Crutchfiled advisor. In this case, you first must give Sony a valid credit card number in case you do not return your "old" (broken "new" TV) within 10 days of receipt of your refurbished TV. Afterwards, Sony will give you an "event" number. Then, you must write the event number at the top center of your Crutchfield receipt and fax it to Sony (they will not accept an e-mail attachment). If the receipt is accepted by Sony, they will ship the refurbished TV within 72 hours along with a pre-paid shipping label and instructions for packaging your old TV. If this does not sound like an acceptable solution to you, then think twice about purchasing this TV. Personally, I am very upset about spending this much for a new TV that broke a little over half way through the warranty period. I will never buy another Sony TV. In contrast, I have purchased several pieces of audio equipment (nothing costing more than $200) through Crutchfield without any problems.

Very fine picture--easy set up and set adjustments--sound is excellent--the overall value is outstanding--and the Crutchfield people and service could not have been better.

Very good picture and sound qualities. Set up was easy. I got Eagle/Ceva flight service. Their delivery times were not very flexiable. They were available in the mornings and on the weekdays only, so I had to take some times off from work which was quite inconvenient. Other than that, I was happy with this purchase.

Excellent TV, Great price

This TV has a great picture- with no visible "stutter" that the 120 Hz crowd
speaks of- and coming from a guy who loves racing and college basketball,
this TV has a stunning picture. The W series "brushed metal" cabinet looks
good, and my only detraction off of a perfect review would be that the
screen is not "flat". By that I mean it reflects room light- Not as bad as a
plasma, but not as good as my old LG 37" 720p set, which reflected no
room light at all. Setup cannot be made easier. The TV is assembled on the
stand in the box, and I was watching HDTV via HDMI in literally seconds
after opening the box! Overall an excellent value for the money spent.

TV is great! It has a build in tuner and therefore you do not necessarily need a HD box from your cable company. But be aware that all digital channels have a weird channel number (instead of 97, it is 97.1245 or something like that).
The Crutchfield experience was also very very good. No complaints and everything was delivered as promised.
