Sony 40 TV, arbutus, MD
Pros: Extra Super
I love this TV, it works perfectly with my Apple TV that I got for the holidays! I can't say a single bad thing about this product.
This is a great TV for craft room. I was really looking forward to Utube videos and Skype. Found out Skype only works if you have a Sony TV camera. My webcam from computer does not work. Bummer. Wish it had IHeart Radio app as well. But otherwise TV picture sound and quality are great!
Pros: Great Sound Great Picture
Cons: Skype only works with Sony TV camera which would be an additional purchase online.
This is really a great T V. We have it in our living room. 40 inches is enough and we sit 15 feet away.
Pros: Easy set up, and the remote is laid out well.
The picture is crisp and completely serves my needs
Pros: The product is easy to set up and begin operating with your favorite option gaming, Netflix, or cable. At the end of the day the the product exceeds my expectations for the very reasonable price. Self installation is challenging but the template supplied is a great asset
Cons: Self installation of the wall mounting is a bit challenging as the instructions and pictures show minimal information, however the 8 mm screws for the wall mount bracket intended to be mounted to the wall should be supplied with the product in order to assure a secure installation. If you use a professional installer then you're worry free.
Was disappointed by the poor RF section of this Sony TV. I have a 7 year old Panasonic with a better RF front end. Meaning more over the air TV stations received on the same outdoor antenna than the Sony. The Sony remote control is too small, the buttons are too close together. I have a Sony Blu-ray player and I have no problem using that remote. The Sony remote for the kdl-40w600b is 10 present smaller than the Sony Blu-ray remote, with rough edges.
Pros: ok picture colour adjustable sound eq
Cons: Poor RF fewer received TV stations. Poor menu tree. No way to stop analog TV station scanning.
Wonderjul picture and wondfrful sound.
Pros: good picture, sound and price.
Have never bought a TV before that doesn't respond to my cable remote for any function. Picture and sound very good, but the lack remote connectivity is pretty bad. First time to ever be disappointed with a Crutchfield product. When first turned on, the sound is so loud. If it can be adjusted, guess you need to be an electronics guru.
Pros: Very good picture and sound.
Cons: Zero compatibility with cable remote.
We are completely happy with this TV.
Pros: Simple, clean appearance, easy to set-up, beautiful picture, lightweight.
Cons: I can't think of anything I don't like about this TV.
This TV is outstanding. I just love it. The picture clarity is beautiful. Crutchfield installed it with DVD and Hearing Device for me and did a terrific job. So easy.
Pros: picture clarity, ease of use, wifi, interface with hearing device
Cons: can't think of any
We are a Sony family! This television really delivers! Vivid colors, sharp pictures and great versatility! My wife loves the Netflix streaming feature, and I love the built in HDTV tuner (we don't have cable)! Whether we are watching a movie, Downton Abbey or the Packers dominate the grid iron, this tv is perfect! We hung this on the wall in our kitchen. It is light weight, only 16 lbs. and has many easy connections! I haven't been disappointed by Sony yet! They are, in my opinion, The Name, in quality televisions!
Pros: Honestly I bought this from Crutchfield for the legendary customer service! They take the time to help in an way they can, and I feel that they would do their absolute best to resolve any issues that may arise!
Cons: The only thing I wish this tv had was the passive 3D feature that our larger Sony does! Then it would be absolutely perfect!
For a relatively low-cost TV, this one's pretty good. I chose it because it had more inputs than others in this size and price range. And I needed audio out, which it does have... Audio out through the 1/8" headphone jack works great, but note that the default setting turns off the TV's speakers when "headphones" are plugged in; I had to change an audio setting related to headphones to stop that behavior. The coax input apparently has a non-advertised NTSC tuner which allowed me to hook up my old VCR to it.
Pros: Plenty of inputs -- actually has separate component and composite with their own audio, along with coax and enough HDMI for me. And the picture looks great.
Cons: The internal upconverter used for showing composite and component inputs is really poor quality. Anything attached to those inputs ends up blocky and bad looking. Also, the built-in speakers are unimpressive - they work, but they are down-firing and there is too much processing involved in trying to make them sound OK. The balance between talking and background sounds is not what it should be.
Sony's KDL-40W-66B, as far as I'm concerned is the TV that others should be judged by. 1080p on a 40 inch screen with LED back light and Sony's proven picture engine makes for a startling clear image. And their manufacturing process virtually eliminates dead pixels. But part of this review should mention Crutchfield's careful stocking and shipping that preserved everything that the Sony company put into the set.
Pros: Clear picture, built in manual accessed with the remote and vivid colors!
Cons: None so far
I love the tv. The picture is clear and bright. Only one drawback, I think it's a smart tv, and it had more smarts than myself, lol. Seriously I really like it. Crutchfield fulfillment was excellent. 5 STARS all the way *****. The web page refuses to recognize my click on the #5 up above. Speedy and tv arrived with no problems, sooner than I thought it would. Thank you.
Pros: Flat screen, easily mounted on wall, although I currently have it sitting on a table. It is not so heavy that it's difficult to move.
Cons: I cannot think of any cons, except possibly it isn't as user friendly as I would like, but that may be my personal problem, regardless of equipment. It may just take some time for me to learn all the neat things it does. I might even need to read the user manual.
This is a wonderful TV! The size is just perfect for a standard size family room
Pros: Display great with vivid colors Wonderful remote Great price Variety of features
My 4th Sony unit. EZ setup except I couldn't rid the picture of residual Sony advertising. A quick call to Crutchfield excellent service dept fixed the problem in two minutes time.
Pros: Fast 3 day UPS service to Minnesota.
The TV had a great picture right out of the box, but it has about a 1/8 by 1/4 inch rectangle of dead pixels in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It's basically out of the main viewing area of the screen but still shouldn't be there.
Pros: Picture quality
Cons: quality of product
For the price, size and features this was exactly what I was looking for in a new LED TV. I had good experiences with Sony products in the past and thought this purchase would be no different. While this TV was working, the picture quality was very good. The TV was light and came with mounting brackets so hanging it on the wall was a breeze. Unfortunately, after 14 months, the TV started shutting off on its own and I would have to unplug the power cord and plug it in again to get the TV to turn back on. After a week of this madness, it stopped working completely. I called Crutchfield and the representative suggested that I contact Sony because the TV was outside of the one-year warranty. When I called Sony they provided the contact information to the nearest authorized Sony repair facility, which was almost an hour from my house. I brought the TV to the repair facility and received a call the next day. The repair person told me that the main board was dead and it would cost in excess of $300 to replace it. I called Sony to see if they could do something for me considering the TV was only two months beyond the warranty period. The best Sony could do was a 5% discount on a new TV. I decided to cut my losses and ended up giving my broken TV to the repair person for parts. After this experience, I will not be purchasing another Sony TV anytime soon.
Pros: Nice picture, mounting brackets included
Cons: Quality issues
Before purchasing the TV I talked to a representative at Crutchfield and he answered all my questions. My main concern was picture in picture meeting my requirements. This 40" LED TV turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. The setup was easy and you can pull up the owners manual on the tv instead of having to search for it on the internet. The picture quality is the best that I've seen. I've only had the TV 3 weeks but so far it has performed very well. Sony has done it again
Purchased this TV a few weeks back. I prefer Sony products to anything else and I had my eye on this one months in advance before I bought it. For the size and features the TV included, the price was within what I had planned to spend. Up until this point, I've never had any issues with quality, specifically, manufacturing quality. After I removed the TV fromt he box, I inspected it for damage. There wasn't any exterior damage as it was packaged well. After I hooked the TV up, I noticed something about the screen. At first I thought something black (a bug, perhaps) was on the screen. As I got closer, I could see something between the outer glass and the LCD/LED. Apparently, during manufacturing/assembly on this TV, a piece of plastic fell between the outer glass and the LCD/LED. I couldn't believe it at first but it was clear as day. I called Crutchfield Customer Support, explained the problem and they immediately dispatched another TV to my home. Three days later when the seconf TV arrived, I looked over the TV to make sure nothing was damaged. After hooking up the second TV, I found another black piece of plastic behind the screen. This time the plastic was behind the LEDs which creates a small, dark blurry area where the plastic has come to rest. It is not that noticeable as it is near the corner of the screen but I know it's there. I would replace it for a third TV but I not taking my chances again.
Pros: Excellent picture (with the exception of the plastic piece), thin and light, multiple inputs and outputs, easy to understand and to navigate on-screen menus.
Cons: As decribed above, there are some manufacturing and assembly issues Sony needs to address. Also, Sony needs to reconsider the inline power supply (the brick) and the length of cable supplied. If I were to mount it to a wall, the supplied power cable is not quite long enough the reach my outlet. I don't mind a TV weighing a bit more so as long as the power supply is an internal.
I bought the unit in the store (Thanks to my advisor fro his help!) and had it setup and running within an hour. The picture is excellent. There were no problems connecting to my home WiFi. The sound is a bit weak but I have it hooked through a separate system so it really doesn't matter. I'm looking forward to watching the Hoos!
Pros: Easy to set up; great picture.
Cons: None yet.
The picture is very good, especially when I adjusted it with a Spears & Munsil calibration Blu-ray. Most pleasing. Two limitations: 1) Off-axis viewing is very poor. When I sit close to the screen, even seated dead-center, blacks on the left and right edges of the picture lose their black level and become grey not black. That's not even sitting off-center! Consumer Reports says its off-axis performance is "average" but I disagree. (The 40W-600B is the "2014" version; there is a replacement model R510C which some call the 2015 model. Rtings dot com finds this new R510C to have the "worst viewing angle that we have ever measured." They report losing blacks at the edges on this "replacement" model. Um, sounds like the 600B I have just purchased. Does this mean that Sony has downgraded the screen on the 600B? The viewing angle I see is like Rtings' R510C, not like CR's 600B. Very disappointing. 2) The glossy reflective screen causes problems in bright rooms. In order to avoid seeing my own reflection in the screen, I had to increase picture brightness (mostly by increasing the Backlight setting). Nevertheless, buy this otherwise very good 600B before it disappears, not the R510C which seems to be a cheapened version which also has a mediocre plastic stand. This 600B has a sturdy aluminum stand. Sony is not trying to make a really good 40" TV any more--it's competing for a "price point" and cheapening its product. Great service from Crutchfield as usual.
Pros: Fine picture; extensive adjustability; plenty of inputs
Cons: Very poor viewing angle.
Great product. Expect nothing less from Sony. Always top notch.
Pros: Easy set up. Comes with stand and wall mount.
Did my research and it came down to 2 sets went with this one and it is amazing!! Great flat screen, Crutchfield's honest info was spot on. As a top pick.
Although Samsung is widely prounounced to be the "best", I have consistently found the Sony products including this TV to be more reliable and to last a very long time. My Samsung's have had shorter life spans and have developed issues within a year or two.
Pros: Excellent picture quality; reliable. Verizon FIOS remotes are coded to automatically connect with Sony products.
Cons: none known.
Good tv for the price & for me. Clear picture & sound is okay for a TV this size. It doesn't pick up as many air channels as my 2007 Olivia. The sound isn't as good as the 2007 but I paid a lot more for that tv & it had large built in speakers (same size TV).
Pros: Price & picture
Cons: Sound & ability to pull air stations
Sony is known for quality products and they prove once again. Top notch TV!
Pros: Picture. Sound is good. Remote is easy to use. Wifi setup is try easy
Cons: Power cord is bulky
Excellent picture. Easy set up, 5 minutes out of the box.
Awesome TV with smart features make it easy to use.
Pros: Super light and easy to install and hookup to existing components.
Have been shopping for several months and at many retailers. Have always had great service from Crutchfield so spent a LITTLE more and ordered. Knew the product would be just what I wanted and I was not disappointed. Perfect for my den. Delivered in less than two days. However, the first set came with a cracked screen. Called Crutchfield and was blown away. They sent out another one the same day and credited my account as soon as they got the damaged one. I respect good service and appreciate anyone who can make my life easier. When deciding on any new electronics, factor reliable and first quality service into your decision. These guys have a customer for life.
Pros: Perfect size, sharp picture connects to the web easily and I really like the on line manual. It is the service that makes the deal. Good job Crutchfield. Should probably say that I am not easily satisfied and would have no problem if there was less than a great experience. Just ask my cable company.
Cons: The bracket that attaches to the bottom of the set could be sturdier. Small potatoes though.
This is a very enjoyable TV to watch. The colors are gorgeous. I just really like it.
Ok but no wiFi
Pros: Good picture
Cons: Won't connect to WiFi
Great machine for not a whole lot of money. WiFi easy to set up, i don't think it took 10 min. from the time i plugged it in till i was reviewing all the on line options i have. Picture is great right out of the box. This TV is for our exercise room, it comes with most of the hardware to hang on the wall so that makes it even sweeter. Overall We're very pleased. In my opinion Sony TV's are the best. Oh, and the TV speakers are pretty dang good too!
Pros: set up, picture quality, all of the available apps, sound, lightweight.
Cons: none have surfaced yet
The first one of these I got had a black line in the middle of the screen. The second one had a broken screen. The third one had a broken screen. The fourth one worked perfectly. Crutchfield was great throughout the process, helping me with free returns and replacements. At my request, they opened the last replacement and tested it to make sure the problem wasn't on their end, and they also double-boxed it (these normally ship in Sony's box). As far as the TV itself goes, it's about what I'd expect for a set with these specs. I'm using it in a spare bedroom, and it doesn't need to be as great as the one in my media system. The wall mounting for this set is proprietary, and the TV does not subscribe to the VESA standard. The 2 brackets that you must secure with 8 screws can be a little difficult to level to each other, despite the included template, and they cannot be mounted to a single wall stud. The TV is light enough that I was able to mount it myself, though getting the TV onto the brackets can also be tricky. If you're handy, it won't be a problem for you. Overall, a pretty good TV for the price.
Pros: Good picture. Easy initialization process. Great customer service from Crutchfield. 4 HDMI ports.
Cons: Proprietary mounting. Insufficient protective packaging
Perfect tv for a bedroom. Sony quality is excellent.
I am giving the TV a 5 since a 4 would be unfair and a 4.5 is not available. Easy to set up, albeit time consuming with the rather painfully slow interface. Once set up, however, it has worked flawlessly. I don't like the stand. I still have some external components that the stand will not allow the TV to sit upon. It also gives you not height adjustment, which causes the TV to sit too low in my application - bedroom media table.
Pros: Light, value and, of course, Crutchfield is always "value added."
Cons: See comments.
Purchased this TV to add to a bedroom location. Very sharp picture. Setup was an easy deal including WIFI connection. Stand alone sound is better than I expected. This TV is a solid improvement over 40" Sony that I purchased a few years ago - so much so that I am planning on purchasing another to replace the older unit in our living room. It is lite and easy for one person to handle which is nice for wall mounting.
Pros: Great picture and sound.
Cons: It takes a few minutes to get through the full startup.
Was leery of setting this up by myself as I'm not terribly tech savvy, but it was very easy! I enjoy having a larger screen as my old one was only 32 inches and this makes it much easier to see across the room.
We bought a Sony 40 inch LCD eight years ago after getting some money from a giant branch falling on and demolishing our old car at my former place of employment. We noticed that suddenly we were losing channels and the scan function was not able to retrieve them. Despite the still great picture quality I was forced to bite the bullet and buy another TV. I decided Sony had the quality and reliability that we wanted and because of cost restraints opted for the 40 inch again. So far an excellent choice on our part. The old Sony cost us around a thousand dollars and weighed 60 pounds. This one was less than half the cost and less than half the weight. I only had to assemble the stand and that was it. Turned it on and the firmware led me through all the set up steps. WiFi connected immediately and streaming so far has been seamless. The picture quality has been stunning using just our antenna. Audio is adequate but nothing to cheer about. The speakers are good, but are still small considering the space constraints of the cabinet. I use the optical output (TOSLINK) to connect to our stereo system for a fuller audio experience. This has all the usual connectors. Our DVD player is also Sony so the HDMI cable connected the two devices via BRAVIA® Sync. If you have shows, movies or music on a USB drive simply plug it in and stream from that device. Waaay too many features to describe here. Just take the menu items one day at a time, experiment and see what give you the best picture.
Pros: Easy set up. Fast WiFi connection. Superb color. Very light weight. Priced very competitively.
Cons: Stand a bit lower than previous TV, so a little visual adjustment.
Everything was as expected. Keep in mind that this comes with the hardware to do a flat wall mount, so you don't have to spend an additional $40 for that. They only thing that's a little annoying is that when you first turn it on, it takes about 20 seconds before you're able to change the channel.
I was worried about how my tv would be handled by UPS but the box was delivered without a mark. Set up was easy. Had the U-Verse receiver and DVD player connected in no time. Wi-Fi connection was fast and simple.
Pros: Picture quality, sound.
Easy set up however, picture quality not as good as Samsung....incorrect parts to assemble stand.. I had to go buy parts to make the stand fit. lots of parts with no instructions...not very intuitive for putting this together...thank god the set was in one piece...going back to Samsung! Disappointed for the first time with Crutchfield and I've bought through them before.
Cons:Crutchfield response on January 19, 2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
A Superb TV NEVER HAD A SONY BEFORE PICTURE FANTASTIC COLORS BRIGHT AND SHARP RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX SET UP SIMPLE.
Pros: EVERYTHING EVEN PRICE
Though this is a forty inch screen, there is a distinct compactness to this model so that it fits into my limited space.
Pros: Setting it up using the on screen commands is fairly easy.
Cons: The blackness of everything on the rear of the set makes it difficult identifying any port you are looking to connect to.
Good TV and size for the price. Received promptly after ordering. Good picture and sound quality.
Pros: Excellent picture, easy setup and it bests the competition.
Wow had to get a tv 3days before Christmas! A large internet retailer couldn't get it to me but Crutchfield did with the best price anywhere.. The tv is great picture is fantastic! That you so much.!
Pros: Picture quality. Lots of apps like a rouk box it's light and easy to set up. Great job Sony!
Cons: Wish I got it in a 70inch!
Really happy with the Sony KDL-40W600B. It was quick and easy to set up. Picture quality is great.
Great TV and great service from Crutchfield. I especially appreciated Rusty's assistance. His help was the deciding factor in purchasing from Crutchfield.
Pros: Wonderful picture; super features; good price/value; easy setup; ability to hookup my subwoofer to the unit.
Cons: Sound is not as full as I would like--need to run my subwoofer to get reasonable sound.
Well designed for a smart TV. One negative: off-axis viewing is not very good. Cannot match my Sharp or Toshiba.
Pros: Good value
Cons: Poor off-axis viewing. Too much red push, but it can be dialed out.
This is just what I need for a small Living Room and also lightweight;ightweight. Previous SONY TV's I have owned have been very reliable and long lasting.
Pros: Good looking set and very good picture quality.
I really am enjoying this TV. Very easy set up. Excellent picture and perfect for bedroom or small room. Quite light weight. WiFi solid, sound good although I prefer my Zvox. Great value.
Pros: Picture, price, brand, set up
Very nice picture and easy setup.
Pros: Very nice picture, lightweight and portable, controls are easy to use
Cons: Stand is rather lightweight, power cord could be longer
Good TV and size for the price. Received promptly after ordering. Good picture and sound quality.
Pros: East set up for my husband to set up. It was nice to know Crutchfield's support team would be able to help if we'd needed it!
Cons: None so far: I just hope this one lasts longer than my last TV.
Great picture...easy set up for this non-techy!
Bought for use in our Bedroom. The display is flawless. Build quality is excellent, but it is unsettlingly "lightweight". In my life experience the weight of an electronic product was a good predictor of what went into it. I still believe it (to a degree) for audio, but this product makes the strongest case for "strength with low mass" that I've ever seen in an electronic product. The picture is flawless, the adjustments are closer out of the box than ever (all my other TV's are late model XBR's and they needed more tweaking than this TV does) and it bests the competition. (I know, I checked....)
Pros: Everything EXCEPT one small issue that I'll leave to the "con" column. It shouldn't be a deal breaker for ANYBODY.
Cons: Analog Stereo outs are now History on these Televisions. (Apparently....) You'll need to buy an outboard S/PDIF to Stereo out (FiiO makes one for about 30 dollars) D/A converter in order to use it with vintage audio gear. The Sound quality of the TV is head and shoulders ABOVE their contemporary competitors, but it's well below what was standard back when the TV's were bigger and heavier. It SOUNDS like it weighs. Mid-Treble up is great. Upper midrange and down is well.....MIA....
I purchased this TV for my bedroom. I can't complain about the quality of this TV. The picture quality is amazing. Easy set up and also I was surprised of the weight of the TV. Since I have a wireless cable box, it's easy for me to move the TV from a different room if I want to. Overall I'm happy with it especially the WIFI that comes with it and the prize.
Pros: Easy set up, picture and sound quality, WIFI with Apps and great prize
Cons: Weak stand
LOVE the Sony Bravia line and this new SMART TV! Easy to setup and we were watching NetFlix 20 after setup. Couldn't be easier.
Pros: Small footprint, super easy setup, and it's a SONY!
This TV was purchased for a spare bedroom. The quality is great for a TV in this price range. I find myself watching Bluray in there instead of my living room. Can't beat the picture quality for the money. I would buy another one if I needed it.
Pros: Light weight, affordable, good picture
Cons: None that I can find so far.
Excellent picture, easy setup, great Crutchfield support.
Pros: Excellent picture, easy setup
Purchased this to replace another Sony that I use for watching TV in a covered outdoor patio area. Did not want to spend a fortune since we do get salt air from the ocean. I was not expecting a stellar picture, but I was surprised as to how good the picture quality is. I was also surprised at the weight. This TV is about a third of the weight of my previous Sony which made mounting on a full motion TV seven feet off the ground a breeze. Had it up and running full speed within 40 mins of delivery. Set up was a piece of cake. The wireless is a nice added bonus. The $ I spent is well worth it.
Pros: Ease of set up Picture Quality Wifi
Cons: The only negative is that the extension chord to the outlet for the power brick is short. I had to jury rig the mount to my TV mount. Minor flaw.
This set has all the features I wanted on the bedroom and the picture is great!
Pros: Wi-fi easy to set up, picture great for 720p/1080i, easy to navigate menu.
Cons: I was surprised it didn't have 1080p, not necessary in bedroom but still was surprised.
We bought this set for a replacement of an old Sony 27" Picture tube set. The setup was fast and easy, including hooking up to our Wi-Fi signal, then the Netflix setup, (The Netflix button on the remote being a major selling point for us .) This is our first LED set, although we have 3 plasma sets and a Sony rear projection. The picture is fantastic with rich colors and a good viewing angle. The sunlight and interior lights do not seem to cause any washout of the picture. The sound is good, with enough range and separation on its own to make the whole viewing experience excellent. I would highly recommend this set!
Pros: Picture, ease of setup and use, decent sound without external features.
Cons: Some may want a larger screen, but it is perfect for our needs.
Small problems. Only flaw is in sound on rare occasions.
Pros: Light weight; nice picture. Multiple HDMI inputs and RCA jack connections. Good price.
Cons: Sound problem with the speakers. The twitter can not handle overbearing bass noise on very rare occasions. Do not lose the remote; for now I can not get hold of a replacement and is currently unable to change inputs.
This TV has a great picture and surprisingly nice sound. I have another 40" Sony Bravia I picked up around 4 years ago and this sounds so much nicer. The apps are cool, especially when you can use screen cast to mirror your android device to your TV.
Pros: Great Picture, Great Sound, Great Features, Great Price
Cons: Weak Stand
I like everything about this set except issues with audio. It's connected to my Sony surround sound. At first, it automatically switched over to audio system speakers when the surround sound was turned on, but mysteriously it stopped doing it, or at least it tries to do it but then says it's unable to, it's not a huge problem because I can just turn the volume down on the tv and control the surround sound volume with the remote that goes with the surround sound and not the tv remote, which was handy for a while at least. I've disconnected and reconnected my hdmi cables, power cables, etc. hoping to reset the system. From researching online I'd say others are having similar issues. Netflix didn't work through my audio system for a while. Now it does, but not automatically like before. It's weird I can be watching just fine the night before and touch nothing, then the next day I don't know what I'm going to get with the audio. I'm holding my breath each time I turn everything on. Wish I could get the amazon app. I'm guessing there's some legal compete clause involved with Netflix and that's why we can use amazon yet. But hey the picture quality is great and so long as you don't mind controlling your audio separately, you're ok. For $500, a good tv!
Pros: Picture, custom settings, netflix app.
Cons: Audio system is schitzo.
Great tv for the money! The good folks at Crutchfield are very knowledgeable about the products they sell, and go above and beyond to help their customers. I've always been a Sony man when it comes to Tv's, because their products are great and problem free.
Pros: Price, Picture, Bravia Sync
Cons: Couldn't afford to put one in every room in the house! Lol!
Lightweight , great picture. Amazing packaging! I wish I had bought two!
This set was perfect for a guest studio apartment. Picture is excellent. Connected immediately to Wi-Fi. Netflix works better than our ATV. Sound was a surprise: it is pretty good for a thin set, better than many. The included brackets and layout template were a nice touch, they made wall mounting very simple.
Pros: Picture, sound (without sound-bar), includes wall mount bracket. Easy Internet hookup and fast Smart TV response.
Cons: Uses a power brick rather than an internal power supply (but does have parts to mount brick on back of set if wall mounting)
Another great TV by SONY. Right out of the box perfect. Wi-Fi works flawless even with router in a different room. Sound better than average for comparable sets. Some early issues with correct advertisement of refresh rate on SONY's website. Advertised 120 rather than 60 HZ. Great service from Crutchfield as always. Quick delivery.
Pros: TV image and sound quality. Price.
Cons: Remote could be better. Would be nice as a 120HZ TV
No complaints so far. Excellent color and sound quality. Great price. Fits well in the bedroom.
Pros: - Very easy to set up - Lightweight - Very fast and free shipping: Ordered it online on Monday, and received it on Tuesday.
Just received the TV a week ago and so far it has been a pretty good purchase. The colors are great and the contrast superb. I bought this TV for a bedroom and it is a perfect bedroom TV. The sound is really good and am excited to add the optional subwoofer. The price for this TV is amazing for all of the features that it does but the one that I was excited about was the WIFI with the apps. I was disappointed the other day that netflix would not launch. I had to refresh the internet services and then everything was back to normal. All in all I am pretty happy with it. As always Crutchfield rules!
Pros: Great Picture Great Sound Excellent Price
Cons: Sketchy Wifi connectivity.

Dynamic Edge LED Backlight w/ Frame Dimming Technology: Dynamic Edge LED backlighting with frame dimming delivers pitch-black night scenes and illuminates bright scenes so they pop with vibrant color; all in a slimmer, more attractive design. Rather than illuminating the entire screen, lighting is boosted in just the right areas for greater contrast and a more realistic picture.
X-Reality PRO Engine: Sony's X-Reality PRO Engine lets you enjoy a vivid, lifelike picture experience by analyzing each scene pixel-by-pixel so you see sharpened images, amazing contrast, and fine detail. Blu-ray Disc movies, cable TV, satellite TV, and even Web videos each place unique demands on the processing circuits of a TV. The X-Reality PRO Engine helps get the best results from these different video sources by analyzing texture, outline, contrast, and color reproduction. The X-Reality PRO Engine will then analyze each scene pixel-by-pixel across 3-dimensions (Width, Height, and Time) and uses sophisticated pattern matching to optimize the picture, ensuring you always get the best images possible.
MotionFlow XR 240: Sony's MotionFlow XR 240 technology combines 60 frames-per-second with an advanced backlight blinking system to simulate a 240 Hz effect. MotionFlow XR 240 provides smooth and precise detail during fast-action scenes for fast action movies and sports by reducing blur caused by quick camera movements, enhancing image sharpness, and overall creating a clearer picture.
Automatic Intelligence: The TV's built-in Light Sensor automatically adjusts the picture brightness based on the amount of light in the room. As a result, you can enjoy automatic customized picture brightness and save energy without lifting a finger. The televisions Advance Contrast Enhancer (ACE) automatically adjusts backlight and contrast to the most suitable setting judging from the brightness of the screen. This setting is especially effective for dark scenes, and will increase the contrast distinction for the darker picture scenes.
1080p Resolution: The Sony KDL-W600B series television has a HD native resolution of 1920 x 1080 (1080p). All video signals from standard definition and high definition sources are displayed at 1920 x 1080. The Sony KDL-W600B series TV is equipped with HDMI, Component, and Composite video inputs.
Note: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners with an RF-coaxial input, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.
24pTrue Cinema (24p Input Capability): Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sony wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p input capability via HDMI on this television producing images that are smooth and natural looking.
MHL Compatible: The HDMI 1 input is designed for the connection of select mobile phones and other portable electronic devices using the new MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) standard. Simply plug your MHL compatible smartphone into the TV's HDMI 1 (MHL) input using the HDMI cable that is included with your mobile phone. MHL allows you to display full 1080p video and still images on the Sony TV from your mobile smartphone. The TV's IR remote can be used to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Stop, Fast Forward/Rewind, and Menu navigation). Your MHL compliant device will also charge while connected to the TV's HDMI 1 input. To find MHL-certified devices, go to www.mhlconsortium.org.
Wide Mode: The Wide Mode feature allows you to select the screen display which fits the current video image and TV screen best. Based on the original signal source, you may see black bars around the picture or just on the both sides of the screen. Sometimes you will see the picture fill the full screen.
|Wide Mode||16:9 Original Source||4:3 Original Source|
|Wide Zoom||Enlarges the picture to fill the screen with minimal distortion.||Enlarges the center portion of the 4:3 picture proportionately, while the left and right edges of the screen are stretched to fill the screen.|
|Normal||Displays a 4:3 picture in its original aspect ratio when the original source is 4:3 (available for 480i or 480p sources).||Displays the 4:3 picture in its original size with black bars at the left and right sides to fill the screen (available for 480i or 480p sources).|
|Full||Displays the picture at its original size.||Stretches the entire 4:3 picture horizontally only to fill the screen.|
|Zoom||Enlarges the picture proportionately, both vertically and horizontally.||Enlarges the entire 4:3 picture proportionately to fill the screen (useful for watching Letterbox movies).|
Automatically changes screen settings base upon incoming video signal and content.
Picture Adjustments: The TV's picture adjustments can be made for a particular A/V input or for all inputs. You can also lock the television's picture adjustments to prevent the TV's Picture Settings from being changed.
Twin Picture (Firmware Update): The Sony LED-LCD TV offers Twin Picture functionality through PIP (picture in picture) & PAP (picture and picture); this feature requires a future firmware update.
Note: The Twin Picture function will be available by November 2015 via a firmware update. You will receive Twin Picture function automatically as a network software upgrade. Make sure your TV is connected to the Internet. If you do not have a network connection, you will be able to download the software from the Sony support website using your PC.
ClearAudio+: Hear music, dialog, and surround effects with greater clarity and separation, whatever you're watching. ClearAudio+ fine tunes TV sound for an immersive, emotionally enriching experience through the following audio features; S-Force Front Surround, ClearPhase, Voice Zoom, & Sound Booster.
Sound Modes: The TV offers six preset sound modes - Standard, Music, Cinema, Game, Sports, and Compressed Audio. If the Sound Mode is set to Cinema, Sports, Music or Game, a surround sound technology developed by Sony reproduces a virtual surround sound field. The TV is also equipped with an adjustable 7-band EQ (100Hz, 200Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 5kHz, 10kHz) for further fine-tuning.
Volume Adjustment: The Sony TV employs Advanced Auto Volume & Volume Offset, so your sources are always playing at the correct volume level. The Advanced Auto Volume function keeps the volume level constant across all programs and advertisements; it can be set to Normal, Night, or Off. Volume Offset lets you adjust the volume level of the current input relative to other inputs.
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection, and USB input can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI IN 2 port. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
Audio Outputs: The Sony HDTV offers analog and digital audio outputs.
Optional Wireless Sub: You can use Sony's optional wireless subwoofer (SWF-BR100, sold separately) to extend the bass response of the TV's sound. Simply connect the wireless transceiver supplied with the SWF-BR100 wireless subwoofer to the TV's analog audio output and USB port.

Miracast is a "screen mirroring" function which lets you wirelessly send the display from your compatible Windows 8.1+ or Android 4.2+ device (with support for Miracast) to the Sony TV. This allows you to view practically any content that is playing on your compatible Windows or Android device on your TV screen; no wireless router or access point required.

You can even stay connected with social networking apps. Click here for a full list of Sony Entertainment Network content (over 200 streaming services).
Note: Bravia Entertainment Network content requires a home network with a connection speed of at least 2.5 Mbps recommended (10 Mbps for HD content). Video quality and picture size vary and are dependent upon broadband speed and delivery by content provider. Online content may require additional fees and/or PC registration. Available online content may change without notice.

With the "Control for HDMI" function, Bravia Sync helps to communicate with Bravia Sync-compatible equipment using HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control). Bravia Sync-compatible equipment is listed as a new input source in the television's menu. The television offers the following Bravia Sync operations for the listed device.

Wall Mount Brackets: The television can be wall mounted using the included wall-mount brackets and hardware. There are two wall-mount brackets which attach to the wood-studs of your wall; the wall-mount brackets are positioned 8.6875" (220mm) apart from one another (mounting template included; mounting screws sold separately). The excellent reviews and the right price point combined with the compact size all led me to picking the Sony for our office TV. [ Hobie Dec 19, 2015 ]
size was first consideration. needs to fit in a small space on the wall. second was price- and that was sealed by the wall mount brackets being included. [ david Dec 16, 2015 ]

Price and reviews [ B Dec 13, 2015 ]
I have always had the highest regard for Sony TV's and I was looking for a price under $500. This will be the 4th TV I have purchased from Crutchfield and I've learned thru experience that they back their products 100%. It is a win win situation for me. [ EDWIN Dec 03, 2015 ]
I bought my hdmi cable though cructhfield recommended by the sales rep and it works fine. No problems. [ JOHN Mar 08, 2016 ]
By HTML I suspect you mean Ethernet cable. Just about any will do. Belkin is a solid manufacturer and has many in different lengths, there are a number of different manufacturers making these types of cables that are similar. They are sometimes called "patch cables" or more specifically "Cat5" and "Cat6" cables. Cat6 cables have more insulation than Cat5 cables and sometimes higher wire density (more bandwidth/data transfer is possible). Usually either will work. Ethernet cables are used to connect network devices (servers, computers, routers, TV's, etc.) to other networked devices. I used a spare cat-5 cable with my TV and have experienced no issues. [ ERIC Mar 08, 2016 ]
If you mean HDMI cables there are pretty good articles and reviews you can search out. No need to overspend on one but then again I would stay away from the really cheap ones. They are cutting corners somewhere. [ Mike Mar 08, 2016 ]
There are endless audio blogs discussing the "best" cables and and brands. I like AudioQuest, but honestly any of the cables Crutchfield sells will work fine. [ Barry Mar 07, 2016 ]
HDMI cable I think you meant to say. Any one should be fine I am using one from Monoprice. [ Thomas Mar 07, 2016 ]
the difference is a $5 cable compared to a $20+ cable....which do you think is better.... [ PATRICK Mar 07, 2016 ]
Was not mounted to the wall. Used the stand that came with the tv. [ GILBERT Dec 21, 2015 ]
The wall mount holes on the back of the TV are 300 × 200 mm, this is from the Sony specification data available on their website for this model TV. [ ERIC Dec 21, 2015 ]

Yes. This a SMART TV so has built in Wi-Fi. There is also a button on the remote that says "NETFLIX" so all you have to do is press that and it will automatically sign you on to Netflix. Great TV! [ Faisal Nov 20, 2015 ]
It has the app on the on-screen menu, however, I'm not a subscriber. [ K Nov 20, 2015 ]
Yes absolutely. I use the TV mostly for that purpose. You can connect the TV directly to your router or you can use a separate receiver box. I have tried both the Amazon Fire TV unit and the Roku unit as well as the direct connection. I prefer to use the receiver box since the interface is more ergonomic. I prefer the Roku to the Amazon for the same reason. Regards. Clint [ CLINTON Nov 20, 2015 ]
Yes. This model is "internet ready". We watch Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. Contact Sony if you have questions, their customer support will assist you. To set up streaming you only have to follow the simple setup instructions to link to your wireless router. I highly encourage you to review your existing router and/or modem's capabilities. We upgraded to a 2 channel wireless Cisco/Linksys 2500 and a Netgear CM400 cable modem during the summer of 2015' and it almost completely eliminated any signal issues (we use cable internet). One wireless channel is just for the TV. Check with your internet provider and see what they say as far as streaming with your current modem, they may suggest upgrading. Google/YouTube changed formats (early 2015'?) and you cannot watch YouTube on this model Sony (and several other TV's on the market?). No biggie to us though... [ ERIC Nov 20, 2015 ]
Yes. It works great. It's a really nice tv. [ SEP Nov 20, 2015 ]

I'm not familiar with the term flash lighting, but the picture on our Sony is great and I've noticed lighting problems in the corner of the screen. Rgds. [ Andrew Jan 28, 2015 ]
Not sure what you mean by flash lighting, but my first set looked like it had been dropped or squeezed too hard near the top because you could see round circles of light behind the screen. Not acceptable to me. I sent it back and had a new one in a day and it didn't have this issue at all. Hope that helps! [ Lorraine Jan 28, 2015 ]
Steve G, Mine is fine. No picture problems or any other problems at all. [ Shawn Jan 28, 2015 ]
I have not had a problem with the tv, no flashing light. I did read another post a while back and another person had your problem and it was a defect and he returned the tv. [ JOHN Jan 28, 2015 ]

No, mine has a perfect image all around. [ Stephen Jan 28, 2015 ]
I have never noticed this. One thing I dont like: after I turn it on, it takes maybe a minute or two before I can enter a new channel. I can go channel up/down, but not jump directly. Only TV I've ever had that does this. [ Dale Jan 28, 2015 ]

I can not tell you about Apple [ Michele Nov 07, 2014 ]
I use Amazon streaming with it all the time I don't know whether or not Apple TV works with it [ BRIAN Oct 29, 2014 ]
No problem with Amazon Prime (streaming video) though you must be patient when you start the app as it takes some time to initiate. Can't help you on Apple. [ ANDREW Oct 29, 2014 ]
I have no clue why they would say that. It's advertised as 1080P and as far as I can tell it is. it does have a great picture. No doubt about that! My only issue is that we can not get a keyboard to work with it. Haven't made any progress on that issue. [ Mike Aug 26, 2014 ]
My experience has only been positive with this TV. It does have 1080p, but sometimes, the channel on my DirecTV doesn't broadcast their programs in 1080p, maybe only 720. The TV automatically adjusts to the correct resolution to view. Hope this helps, KAG. [ K Aug 26, 2014 ]

I'll amend my previous answer. If you search the Sony App Store there is a web browser. It connects via Sony, and is rather slow. I did not the buy this TV for that feature anyway. The TV does stream content very well. [ Barry Jul 08, 2014 ]
This TV does not appear to have a web browser. It does stream very well, and has a great picture. [ Barry Jul 07, 2014 ]
