You can count on Sony's KDL-55HX750 to deliver a gorgeous picture in 3D or 2D. Even if you're not that interested in 3D right now, a 3D TV is still a smart choice because it will give you the best-looking 2D picture, too. And whenever you want to try out the 3D-at-home experience, just pick up a pair or two of Sony's 3D glasses. This model includes some of Sony's latest advances, which will make everything you watch look its very best, from Blu-ray movies to YouTube clips.
More and more people these days are turning to the web for day-to-day viewing, so a TV's Internet smarts are important. The KDL-55HX750 includes built-in apps for accessing the Sony Entertainment Network, home to thousands of movies, shows, games and more. You can also stream movies instantly from Netflix® or listen to Pandora® Internet radio through the TV. Built-in Wi-Fi® lets you enjoy entertainment pulled from the web or a PC on your home network without connecting an Ethernet cable. Wirelessly streamed HD video can look surprisingly good.
An ordinary edge-lit LED-LCD TV has LEDs spaced around the frame, and their light is channeled so that it illuminates the screen from behind. Sony's "Dynamic Edge" LED system essentially divides the screen into regions, each of which can be dimmed independently. This is a form of "local dimming," and it provides excellent picture contrast with black levels that get really black. As a bonus, this smart LED backlight is super energy-efficient, for minimal impact on your electric bill.
Motion processing helps LCD TVs maintain a smooth, sharp picture even when the on-screen action shifts into high gear. Sony's Motionflow XR 480 starts by analyzing the motion of specific on-screen objects as well as overall movement. Then it combines 240Hz refresh rate with a high-speed blinking backlight, achieving blur reduction that is equivalent to what you'd see with a 480Hz refresh rate. The enhanced clarity is noticeable whether you're watching video in 2D or 3D.
It's not surprising that the KDL-55HX750 has four HDMI inputs for connecting all of your high-def sources. But here's something different: In addition to standard Wi-Fi operation, Sony's Wi-Fi Direct Mode completely bypasses your wireless router. The next time your friends want to share photos or videos from their smartphones, they can wirelessly "throw" the content straight to this TV. Also, if you download the free Media Remote app you can turn your iPhone®, Android phone or Sony Tablet into a versatile remote.
Reason #1: Awesome picture quality. The LED backlights in these higher-end LCD TVs can give you better picture contrast and more lifelike colors than sets with typical fluorescent backlighting. Reason #2: They're more energy-efficient than plasma or regular LCD TVs, helping you lower your monthly electric bill and helping the environment.
This is a great TV and I am glad that I selected it.
Pros: This is an all around great TV!
Cons: None found at this time.
Great TV with fantastic picture quality. The only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the sound is a bit flat. No real bass.
Pros: picture quality
Cons: sound quality
Nothing but good things to say about the HX750 except for the weak speakers/sound. I have it connected to a home theatre system, so not a big deal for me, but if you don't have one, you'll need one or you likely be disappointed. I would rate the picture, features, flexibility and 3D well above average on this one. Still happy with purchase.
Beautiful TV as usual from Sony. Great picture with nice look. Very thin. Many great options in terms if picture, sound, Internet.
Pros: Picture quality, options, sleek
Sony is not up front about limitations of this TV as a Multimedia TV. After purchase I had to spend three hours finding out why they TV was not displaying video and audio files on my DLNA compliant server. The stupid online TV manual just gave a one word response to "if you can't see your files, play, etc. Basically, "They are not support" But when I compared the files to the supported list, the file types were listed. TURN out buried deep (ten clicks to find) on the Sony Support site was a size limit on files of 5Gb on non exFAT servers. Mind you exFAT is not a common file allocation system on media servers.
Pros: Great picture
Cons: 1) bad online help 2) video file size limitations 3) cumbersome menu system
I've been using the 55HX750 for about 2 weeks now & couldn't be happier. I went with another Sony because my 40" Bravia has served me well over the past 2+ years & have good experiences with the brand. Picture is clear & sharp, color rendition is very good. I watch a lot of sports & have had no issues with fast action on this set. The wifi interface is a bit cumbersome to use, but to be honest I don't really use it that much so it's not an issue for me. An excellent product at a good price.
Sony makes top tier HDTVs. Connectivity and feature sets are best in class. I was disappointed with the quality of the sound from this set and the limited ability to adjust the sound. It really requires a quality sound system to fully enjoy the quality of the picture. Will go with the Bose GS series.
Pros: Picture quality, slim design, conductivity
Cons: Sound system and adjustments.
The color & clarity of the picture is really 5 stars. But the anti-motion/judder is lacking. The juddering is very noticeable @ times. Very disappointing. Thus only the 3 star rating. Would have like to seen more component inputs, but knew it did not have as many as I would have liked. Putting the TV w/stand together was easy for 2 retired old people. Was thinking of returning it because the juddering was so noticeable, but repacking would be a real pain. The instruction manual is poor in providing info. On screen menu was better in some aspects. TV is hooked up to Dish.
Pros: Color & clarity of picture.
Cons: Anti-motion electronics not as expected. Poor instruction manual.
This TV has the best picture quality I have ever seen. I was debating on whether to go with LED or Plasma, and I'm glad I went with the LED. With the 240Hz refresh rate, the picture quality is pristine. The blacks are solid with no impairments. This TV also has built in WiFi with NetFlix and other Internet Apps, so I don't have to run NetFlix off the Blu Ray player. I've only had the TV a couple weeks, and the only con is the inability to adjust the picture settings (brightness, color, contrast) when running NetFlix or any other Internet APP. The picture settings are only for the inputs (HDMI, composite, etc). The way around this is to run the NetFlix from the Blu Ray player since it is connected via HDMI.
Pros: Excellent picture quality.
Cons: Inability to adjust picture settings for the Internet Apps.

Dynamic Edge LED Backlight with Frame Dimming Technology: Dynamic Edge LED backlighting with frame dimming delivers pitch-black night scenes and illuminates bright scenes so they pop with vibrant color; all in a slimmer, more attractive design. Rather than illuminating the entire screen, lighting is boosted in just the right areas for greater contrast and a more realistic picture.
X-Reality Engine: Sony's X-Reality engine lets you enjoy a vivid, lifelike picture experience by analyzing each scene so you see sharpened images, amazing contrast, and fine detail. Blu-ray Disc movies, cable TV, satellite TV, and even Web videos each place unique demands on the processing circuits of a TV. The X-Reality Engine helps get the best results from different video sources. The X-Reality Engine analyzes the scene and selectively applies a variety of noise reduction and image processes prior to upscaling in order to get the best results from different sources. The X-Reality Engine performs Interlace-to-Progressive (IP) conversion and upscaling as required. Film-based 24 frames-per-second content undergoes special IP conversion to reduce the "stair-step jaggies" that can form at high-contrast edges.
HDTV Tuner: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.
1080p Resolution: The Sony KDL-HX750 series television has a HD native resolution of 1920 x 1080 (1080p). All video signals from standard definition and high definition sources are displayed at 1920 x 1080. The Sony KDL-HX750 series TV is equipped with HDMI, Component, and Composite video inputs.
24pTrue Cinema (24p Input Capability): Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sony wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p input capability via HDMI on this television producing images that are smooth and natural looking.
MotionFlow XR 480: Sony's MotionFlow XR 480 technology combines 240 frames-per-second with an advanced backlight blinking system to simulate a 480 Hz effect. MotionFlow XR 480 provides smooth and precise detail during fast-action scenes for fast action movies and sports by reducing blur caused by quick camera movements, enhancing image sharpness, and overall creating a clearer picture. You can select between 4 settings - Smooth, Standard, Clear, or Clear Plus.
CineMotion: This function provides improved picture movement and reduces picture blur and graininess for film-based content. There are two settings.
Infinite Dynamic Contrast Ratio: Dynamic contrast ratio compares the luminance of a 100 IRE (white) signal with that of a 0 IRE (black) signal. When the TV receives a 0 IRE signal the backlight is turned off and the luminance measurement is 0.00 cd/m2. The resulting dynamic contrast ratio is infinite.
LightSensor Technology: The TV's built-in Light Sensor automatically adjusts the picture brightness based on the amount of light in the room. As a result, you can enjoy automatic customized picture brightness and save energy without lifting a finger.
Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE): The televisions Advance Contrast Enhancer (ACE) automatically adjusts backlight and contrast to the most suitable setting judging from the brightness of the screen. This setting is especially effective for dark scenes, and will increase the contrast distinction for the darker picture scenes. The ACE can be set to High, Medium, Low, or Off.
3D Ready: The Sony KDL-HX750 series LED-LCD TV gives you the option to enjoy 3D (three-dimensional) pictures and graphics. You can enjoy an immersive, realistic movie and gaming experience in Full HD 1080p using Sony's proprietary 3D Active Glasses, (158BR250, sold separately) and connecting a compatible 3D-ready Blu-ray Disc Player, Satellite Receiver, or PlayStation3 gaming console (all sold separately) to the HDTV via HDMI. When viewed through the active shutter glasses, the on-screen image is precisely synchronized and delivered with the Full HD 1080p image intact, for an optimum 3D viewing experience. Sony's 3D technology displays high speed synchronized left- and right-eye images to deliver an immersive 3D experience. And since each frame you see is shown at Full HD resolution, the 3D action still offers razor-sharp detail. You can adjust the following 3D settings.
Note: The 3D display mode is automatically selected when a 3D signal is detected. The recommended viewing angle and distance for 3D viewing is 120° (left/right) at 3'-20'.
Wide Mode: The Wide Mode feature allows you to select the screen display which fits the current video image and TV screen best. Based on the original signal source, you may see black bars around the picture or just on the both sides of the screen. Sometimes you will see the picture fill the full screen.
|Wide Mode||16:9 Original Source||4:3 Original Source|
|Wide Zoom||Enlarges the picture to fill the screen with minimal distortion.||Enlarges the center portion of the 4:3 picture proportionately, while the left and right edges of the screen are stretched to fill the screen.|

Picture Modes: You can select one of the following picture modes:
Note: The TV's picture adjustments can be made for a particular A/V input or for all inputs. You can also lock the television's picture adjustments to prevent the TV's Picture Settings from being changed.
Advanced Video Settings: In addition to the Picture mode, the Advanced Video Settings menu also features the following:
Pro Picture Setup: The Pro Picture Setup menu allows for Color Matrix and HDMI adjustments.
Twin Picture (PIP): This feature lets you watch two pictures simultaneously. You can have view an image from a TV program and external input (excluding PC) at the same time. One picture will be displayed as the main image, while to other is displayed in an inset window or side-by-side. You can flip-flop images and switch audio between the two images.
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection, and HDMI inputs can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. USB and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI IN 1 port. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
Sound Position: The speakers of this TV provide different sound images according to how you position the television. You can select between "Table-Top Stand" or "Wall Mount/Floor Stand" to provide the best sound quality based on the television's placement.
Sound Mode: You can customize the bass and treble or use one of the three preset sound modes:
