About the Sony MDR-AS700BT
Wireless workout companion
Wireless workout companion
Music is a great motivator when you're working out. Dangling wires, however, can be a real drag. Cut the cord with these Sony wireless sports headphones while fueling your workout with your favorite iron-and-pavement-pounding playlist. While your smartphone remains safely stowed in an armband or pocket, you can keep the music playing from up to 30 feet away with these Bluetooth headphones. Their strong bass response is sure to keep you moving when you need it most.
They can get a little wet
Like to run in the rain? Don't sweat it. These headphones are water-resistant, so a little rain isn't going to hurt them anymore than it will you. Just make sure the cover is on the USB jack. That's how you charge up the built-in battery, for up to nine hours of playback time. Though you may not want to burn through all nine hours in a single workout.
"Noooooo, not this song!"
Ever been running when, somehow, a power ballad sneaks into your queue? It's like a punch to the chest when you're trying to maintain a steady pace as you start to tire. Fortunately, it's easy to skip those slow tunes using these headphones' earcup controls. The multi-function buttons let you play, pause, skip and search through tracks. They also offer volume control for music and calls. Calls? Yep, you can also take calls using the built-in microphone. Although a phone call in the middle of a workout is almost as demoralizing as a power ballad.

Features
Overview: The Sony MDR-AS700BT Wireless Bluetooth Sports Headphones are designed for those on the go. You can stream and control your music wirelessly from your Bluetooth-enabled music player or smartphone, or take a phone call. The built-in rechargeable battery gives you hours of listening time. The behind-the-neck headband and water-resistant design can withstand a rigorous workout and stay in place without sweat and water getting to the drivers or internal electronics.
Bluetooth: The headphones are equipped with Bluetooth 3.0 with a range of approximately 30 feet along the 2.4 GHz frequency band. The headphones can be paired with up to 8 devices. Compatible Bluetooth Profiles include:
- A2DP: Advanced Audio Distribution Profile: Transmitting or receiving audio content content of high-quality.
- AVRCP: Audio Video Remote Control Profile: Controlling A/V equipment; pausing, stopping, starting playback, etc.
- HFP: Hands-free Profile: Talking on the phone/operating the phone.
- HSP: Headset Profile: Talking on the phone/operating the phone by hands-free.
Near-Field Communications (NFC): With certain compatible devices, you can easily pair the headphones with Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology. By aligning the NFC logos on the two devices and tap them together, you can power on the headphones, activate Bluetooth, pair the two devices, and begin listening to your music. The NFC function is compatible with smartphones running Android 2.3.3 or later (excluding Android 3.x). You must first download and install the Sony NFC Easy Connect app from the Google Play Store, or by using the URL or QR Code found in the Quick Start Guide.
Rechargeable Battery: The AS700BTs have a built-in 3.7V Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery, which provides a maximum of 9 hours communication time and 120 hours standby time on a full charge. You can check the remaining battery power by the number of red LED indicator flashes. The battery charges in approximately 1.5 hours via USB (Micro USB cable supplied). USB charging on your personal computer requires one of the following operating systems: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista (SP2), Windows XP (SP3), or Mac OS X 10.3 or later.
Drivers: The headphones uses 30mm closed-type drivers with strong neodymium magnets.
Microphone: The AS700BT has an embedded electret condenser microphone for hands-free conversation from your Bluetooth-enabled phone. It has noise suppression and echo cancellation functions to give you the best sound quality for your phone call. The mic has an omni-directional pickup pattern and an effective frequency range of 100-4000 Hz.
Controls: On-board controls let you control your music playback, phone calls, and headset volume. The right earcup has a multi-use button that will turn on the unit (press and hold for 2 seconds), pair with your Bluetooth device (press and hold for more than 7 seconds), pause and play your music (press and release while listening to music) and answer or hang up a phone call (press and release when a call comes in or during a call). While listening to music you can press the Volume Control rocker-type switch to raise or lower the volume, skip to next or previous track (press and hold until a beep sounds), or fast-forward or fast-reverse (press and hold down until you get to the desired portion of the song).
Sound Quality Modes: In standard mode, the headphones are set to SBC high quality mode. When using an AAC compatible device, you can switch to the "Priority on Sound Quality" mode. If the wireless connection becomes unstable, you can switch to "Priority on Stable Connection" mode. You can switch the sound quality mode by operating the power button and the volume button simultaneously. The blue LED indicator light will flash a pattern corresponding to the selected sound quality mode.
