Note: Like DVD, BD uses region codes. The region code on
your disc must match the region code on your player, otherwise the disc will
not play. The BDV-N7200W is Blu-ray region A and DVD region 1. Blu-ray Disc
uses the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) to prevent unauthorized
recording of copyrighted material.
Disc Compatibility: The Sony BDV-N7200W Blu-ray disc home
theater system is compatible with many disc types:

Quick Start: Quick Start speeds up the load time on movies,
so discs start faster after they're inserted into the Blu-ray Home Theater
System. The Sony BDV-N7200W has a start-up time of approximately 5.7 seconds in
Quick Start mode (32.7 seconds in normal mode). In Quick Start mode, it takes
approximately 25.3 seconds for a Blu-ray disc to begin playback (49.1 seconds in
Note: The Start Up/Play Back Time tests were started
with the Blu-ray system initially turned off & in standby mode. The Start Up
Time test was stopped when the unit's Home Menu screen appeared. The Play
Back Time test was stopped when the Blu-ray disc began playback.
Front-Panel USB Port: The front-panel USB (type-A) port
allows you to play photo, videos, and music files on a connected USB device. The
unit can recognize Mass Storage Class (MSC) Devices that are FAT-compatible and
Still Image Capture Devices (SICD) class devices. The device can recognize up to
500 folders/files. The USB port also allows you to enjoy additional content
(such as BonusView) on certain Blue-ray Disc titles. Some BD-ROMs have bonus
content and other data which can be downloaded to an inserted USB Flash Drive
(minimum 1 GB recommended, sold separately). Not all USB devices are supported.
Compatible Audio/Video/Photo Formats: The Sony Blu-ray disc
home theater system supports playback of the following audio/video/photo files
recorded on BD-R/RE, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, and CD-R/RW discs; plus compatible USB

Parental Control: The Sony BDV-N7200W offers Parental Control
settings to limit BD, DVD, and streamed Internet video according to the age of
the users. You can also Allow or Block all unrated Internet video. The control
settings are protected by a custom 4-digit password. You can also lock the disc
tray to prevent it from being opened by mistake. You can also deactivate the buttons on the main unit
to prevent unauthorized operation.
2 HDMI Inputs/1 HDMI Output: The Sony BDV-N7200W Blu-ray
home theater system is fitted with dual HDMI (ver.1.4) inputs and one HDMI
(ver.1.4) output. The two HDMI v.1.4 inputs allow you to connect HDMI-equipped
audio/video components; such as your satellite/cable receiver and game system.
The system connects those extra devices and the built-in Blu-ray player up to
your TV via its single HDMI monitor output; reducing cable clutter. The
BDV-N7200W's HDMI v.1.4 jacks are compatible with 4K pass-through and upcaling,
1080p/24Hz, 3D video, Deep Color & x.v.Color technology; as well as uncompressed
digital audio (up to 7.1ch), and ARC (Audio Return Channel).
- 4K Pass-Through + Upscaling: 4K pass-through allows the
Sony BDV-N7200W to receive ultra high-definition resolution video and pass
the video signal to a 4K compatible TV. In addition, through the HDMI
output, the BDVN-7200W is capable of upscaling the resolution of your
standard-definition and high-definition content; up to 1080p or 4K (4,096 x 2,160).
- 24p True Cinema: Movies are typically recorded on film with
a frame rate of 24 frames per second. When a movie is transferred to Blu-ray
Disc at 24 frames per second the BDV-N7200W will output that signal to the TV (if
the TV will accept the 1080p/24 format) with no need for conversion.
- 3D-Ready w/ 2D-to-3D Conversion: The Sony BDV-7200W lets you
enjoy 3D Blu-ray disc movies in full HD 1080p. 3D viewing requires compatible 3D
content, 3D-ready HDTV, 3D emitter & glasses, and a high-speed HDMI cable
(supporting at least 10.2 Gbps) connection. The Sony BDVN-7200W can also convert
2D (two-dimensional) video content into simulated 3D (three-dimensional) video
when connected to a 3D-ready TV, with 3D-glasses. You can make adjustments to
the 3D effect and 3D depth.
- ARC (Audio Return Channel): This feature allows audio
to be sent from your compatible HDTV to the Blu-ray home theater system
through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to
your HDTV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your

supports Deep Color and x.v.Color content, which can display a larger color

Triluminos Color: The BDV-N7200W Blu-ray system incorporates
Sony's Triluminos Color technology to create a heightened sense of depth and
incredibly true, natural shades of colors. Hard-to-reproduce reds, aqua blues
and emerald greens are displayed beautifully, so landscapes and seascapes look
more vivid. Faces look better too, with natural skin tones.
Video Adjustments: The Sony BDV-N7200W offers a variety of

Type lets you select a 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio for
the unit's video output to match your connected Television's screen aspect
ratio. Screen Format lets you select between Full (stretches 4:3
image to fit 16:9 display or Normal (displays original picture size). DVD
Aspect Ratio lets you select either Letter Box (wide picture with black
bands on top & bottom) or Pan & Scan (displays full-height of image with
- Video Settings:
The Picture Quality Mode lets you select from 3 preset
pictures settings (Auto, Custom1, or Custom 2) for different lighting
environment. Texture Remaster adjusts the sharpness and detail of the
edges in an image. Super Resolution improves the resolution of the
image. Smoothing reduces on-screen banding by smooth gradations on
flat areas. Contrast Remaster automatically arranges the black and
white levels so that the screen is not too dark. Clear Black adjusts
the display of the dark elements of the images.
- Cinema Conversion Mode: The Sony BDV-N7200W offers two
Cinema Conversion Modes. The Auto mode automatically detects whether
the material is video-based or film-based, and switches to the appropriate
conversion method. The Video mode always select the method best
suited for video-based material regardless of content.
- I/P Noise Reduction: I/P Noise Reduction improves the
picture quality of Internet entertainment for crisp, clear HD images.
- Super Bit Mapping: To increase the image quality of whatever you
watch, Super Bit Mapping analyzes and optimizes every pixel to give you a
premium picture that's been perfected even more.
BonusView: The BonusView feature provides picture-in-picture
capability with select Blu-ray Disc titles. You can view addition content (such
as director/actor commentary) in a small display window while the movie is
On-Screen Display: The Sony BDV-N7200W provides an OSD via
its HDMI output. The on-screen text can be set to English,
French, or Spanish. The integrated Blu-ray receiver also features a single-line
top-panel display. You can adjust the lighting of the unit's front panel
Visualizer Effects: You can enjoy visualizer effects which simulates
the beat of the played back sources to colorful designs and
graphics on your connected TV. You can choose from different visualizer effect
modes (Rainbow, passion, Ocean, or Forest). This works for the following audio
sources; Disc, USB, FM, TV, Bluetooth, and Audio in.
S-Master HX Digital Amplifier: The Sony Blu-ray home theater
system features a S-Master HX Digital Amplifier for superb accuracy, clear
separation of signals, and balanced sound reproduction using a
digital-to-digital process. It is designed to be highly efficient, producing
minimal heat, while taking up 1/4 of the space of conventional amplifiers. The
amplifier is rated at 125 watts x 3ch (Front Left/Front Right/Center) at 1kHz in
6Ω with 1% THD; plus 125 watts x 1ch (subwoofer) at 80Hz in 6Ω with 1%
THD. The rear surround speakers are powered by a separate wireless surround
amplifier that is rated at 100 watts x 2ch (Rear Left & Right).
Dolby Digital/DTS/Dolby Pro Logic: The Sony BDV-N7200 home
theater system features Dolby Digital and DTS-HD decoding, as well as offers
Dolby Pro Logic audio processing.
Note: 7.1 channel surround formats will be downmixed to 5.1
channels. The system's built-in Blu-ray player supports up to 7.1ch audio.
The unit's HDMI and optical inputs do not support 7.1ch LPCM, Dolby Digital
Plus, Dolby TrueHD, or DTS-HD.
Digital Cinema Auto Calibration DX (D.C.A.C. DX): The
BDV-N7200W is equipped with an Auto Calibration function to achieve ideal
surround sound settings for your room. With the included microphone placed at
the listening position, Sony's DSP automatically analyzes speaker placement and
sets the delay times and output levels. The microphone has a threaded insert on
the bottom so it's compatible with a tripod. Speakers configuration, speaker
distances and output levels can also be manually set. If your prefer, you can
setup the home theater system manually by using the system's manual
speaker setup menu.
Audio Settings: The Sony BDV-N7200W offers a variety of audio settings
to improve your listening experience.
- S-Force Pro Front Surround: Don't have enough space for the wireless
speakers in the rear of the viewing area, but still want a surround sound
experience, no problem. With the S-Force Pro Front Surround technology feature,
you can setup all the five speakers in-front of the viewing area and still
experience simulated surround sound.
- Preset Soundfields: You can select a suitable sound mode for your
movies, music, sports, or games. You can choose from the following; Movie
(provides the optimized sound for watching movies), Music (provides the
optimized sound for listening to music), Philharmonic Hall (reproduces sound
characteristics of a Berlin philharmonic hall), Music Arena (reproduces sound
characteristics of an outdoor music concert), Cinema Studio (creates a vertical
and wider soundstage effect for greater depth and presence), Game
(provides optimized sound for video games), Football (creates an immersive
feeling of being in a football stadium), or Night (reduces loud sounds while
maintaining clear dialog).
- Sound Enhancements: Enjoy optimal audio performance with two
Sony-unique technologies; DSEE HX revitalizes high-frequency audio
response and upscales existing audio signals (MP3, AAC, ATRAC, and WMA) to
Hi-Resolution levels. ClearAudio+ renders a vibrant soundfield with
immersive bass, full mids, and pronounced highs.
- AV Sync + DRC: AV Sync adjusts the delay between the picture
and sound when the sound does not match the picture on the TV screen. Audio
DRC lets you can compress the dynamic range of
the sound track.
Analog & Digital Inputs: In addition to HDMI
connectivity, the Sony BDV-N7200W features both
analog (stereo RCA) and digital (optical) audio inputs for other external
5.1 Channel Speakers w/ Magnetic Fluid Technology: The Sony BDV-N7200W Blu-ray home
theater system consists of four matching satellite speakers (front & rear), a
center-channel speaker, and a passive subwoofer. Each individual speaker driver
is damperless and has magnetic fluid technology that minimizes sound distortion
providing for an enhanced sound quality and clearer reproduction of the original
- 4 Matching Satellite Speakers (for Front & Rear): The Sony
BDV-N7200W includes four matching satellite speakers for the front and rear
channels. These satellite speaker feature a two-way driver design, with a
separate 0.75" soft-dome tweeter and 3.125" midrange driver, that delivers
premium sound. The front and rear satellite speakers are uniquely designed
to provide a wider "sweet spot"; so even when you're watching with the whole
family everyone will enjoy great surround sound. The speakers employ a
bass-reflex cabinet with down-firing port for added efficiency and midbass
response. Each speaker comes with a small pedestal stand which allows you to
place the speaker on a table-top, shelf, or stand. In addition, you can use
the rear-panel keyhole slot (mounting screws not supplied) or M5 threaded
insert (requires optional bracket) to safely wall-mount the speakers. The front and rear speakers feature a black cabinet
and no grille.
- Center-Channel Speaker: The Sony Blu-ray home theater system
features a center-channel speaker which consists of a 0.75"soft-dome
tweeter, two 2.375" midrange drivers, and two front-firing ports. The
center-channel speaker comes with four integrated rubber feet so it can be
placed securely on top of your TV, shelf or stand. The center-channel
speaker also features two key-hole slots on its rear-panel which allows you
to mount the center-channel speaker horizontally on a wall. The center speaker features a
black cabinet and no grille.
- Passive Subwoofer: The home theater system features a
bass-reflex, passive subwoofer with a front-firing 7" woofer and front-firing
port. The passive sub features a black cabinet with
black cloth grille (non-removable).
Wireless Surround Amplifier: The TA-SA500WR Wireless Surround
Amplifier gives you a way to place the system's rear speakers in the back of
your home theater room without having to run wires from the integrated Blu-ray
disc receiver. The BDV-N7200W is able to wirelessly transfer the rear audio signal to
the TA-SA500WR surround amplifier by using a wireless 5.8GHz frequency
connection. The surround amplifier has proprietary speaker terminals that match
the speaker wires supplied with the home theater system. The TA-SA500WR must be
plugged into an AC outlet and speaker wires run from the surround amplifier to
the rear speakers. The surround amplifier is rated at 100 watts x 2-channel (in
3-ohm at 1kHz with 10% THD). The TA-SA500WR measures 7.875" wide x 2.5" tall
x 8.8125" deep.
Speaker Wiring: The integrated Blu-ray disc receiver uses color-coded
2-pin proprietary jacks for the front, center, and subwoofer outputs. The
color-coded 2-pin proprietary jacks for the surround speakers are found on the
wireless surround amplifier. Speaker wires, terminated with color-coded plugs,
are supplied. Each length of supplied speaker wire has tinned wire on one end,
and a color-coded proprietary plug on the other for easy hookup. The color-coded
plugs are white (Front Left), red (Front Right), blue (Surround Left), gray
(Surround Right), green (Center), and purple (Subwoofer).
- The front speakers come with a 10' length of speaker wire which connects
to the spring-clip terminals on back of the speakers and the proprietary
plugs on back of the AV receiver.
- The rear speakers comes with a 16.5' length of speaker wire which
connects to the spring-clip terminals on back of the speaker and the
proprietary plugs on back of the included wireless surround amplifier.
- The center-channel speaker comes with a 6.5' length of speaker wire
which connects to the spring-clip terminals on back of the speaker and the
proprietary plugs on back of the AV receiver.
- The subwoofer features an attached 10' length of speaker wire which
connects to the proprietary plugs on back of the integrated Blu-ray Disc/AV
Network & Tuner Functions
Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Sony BDV-N7200W supports a wired or wireless network connection. Via the system's
network connection your can enjoy music, video, and still-image files stored on
your computer. You can also listen to internet radio and watch online movies,
via the Bravia Entertainment Network.
- Ethernet (LAN) Jack: The Sony BDV-N7200W is equipped with an Ethernet (LAN) RJ-45 jack for connecting the
system to your home network and computer.
- WiFi (wireless LAN): The Sony Blu-ray home theater system offers built-in WiFi
that allows you to wirelessly access the Internet and your home network. The
BDV-N7200W's built-in WiFi provides a wireless network connection for the
with easy and quick setup. With this feature, you can easily connect to a
wireless LAN and enjoy the benefits of networking in a cable-free
environment. A wireless connection requires a home network with an 802.11
access point (802.11n recommended) and internet connection. Supports WPS,
WEP, and WPA security.
Note: Sony's Bravia Entertainment Network requires a home
network with a connection speed of at least 2.5 Mbps recommended (10 Mbps
for HD content). Video quality and picture size vary and are dependent upon
broadband speed and delivery by content provider.
Bravia Entertainment Network: Once the Sony BDV-N7200W has
been connected to your home network (via Ethernet or WiFi), you can have your
favorite internet content delivered to the Sony Blu-ray system via Bravia
Internet Audio/Video, the Opera TV Store, or the built-in web browser. You can
stream movies, videos, music, and more with Bravia Internet Video; while the
built-in web-browser lets you search on-line content by URL. The Opera TV Store
lets you download additional apps.
- Bravia Internet Audio/Video: Bravia Internet
Audio/Video serves as a gateway to online audio/video content, delivering a
variety of on-demand entertainment straight to the Sony Blu-ray system.
Bravia Internet Audio/Video allows you to instantly stream a wide variety of
movies, TV episodes, videos, and music from a large selection of

- Opera Internet Browser: The built-in Opera Internet
Browser allows you to access select web content through the Sony Blu-ray
system. Using the Opera Internet Browser, you gain access to Sony.com and
Gracenote Music Services. The built-in internet browser also allows you to
do basic keyword searches, so you can browse other select websites
(text-based only). The Opera Internet Browser is not a full search
engine for the Internet and Web. For Internet audio/video/photo content, use
Sony's Bravia Internet Video service. Some web-pages maybe too large for
- Opera TV Store: The Opera TV Store provides a
collection of additional downloadable web apps that are optimized for TV
viewing. These apps range from videos, games, weather, news, world clocks,
and social networks.

DLNA certification allows you
to enjoy various content from your home network, such as photo (JPEG/PNG/GIF),
music (MP3/WMA/WAV), and video (AVCHD/MPEG/WMV/XVID) files stored on your
Windows 7/8 PC (or other DLNA Certified media server/Android device) through the
Sony BDV-N7200W - up to 999 files/folders. The Blu-ray HT system can be
connected to your compatible PC using a hardwired Ethernet (LAN) connection or
Wi-Fi connection (via built-in WiFi). This eliminates the need to copy your
photo, video, and music files to a separate USB storage device.
Miracast is a "screen mirroring" function which lets you wirelessly send the
display from your compatible Windows 8.1+ or Android 4.2+ device (with support
for Miracast) through the Blu-ray HT system and to your TV. This allows you to
view pictures and videos that are playing on your compatible Windows or Android
device on your TV screen. No wireless router or access point required.
Gracenote Metadata Service: The Gracenote Metadata service
instantly gives you access to detailed information about the movies you are
watching through the Blu-ray disc player internet connectivity. This
easy-to-navigate service displays information such as cast information, genre,
jacket art and more right on the system screen. You can also access select internet
apps including YouTube and Qriocity to find related entertainment. Requires Internet connectivity. Some disc titles may
not be supported by the Gracenote service.
BD-Live: BD-Live technology allows you to download and
stream bonus content such as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, movie-based
games, and more from a broadband Internet and home network connections (fees may
apply). The Sony home theater system features an Ethernet port to connect to the
Internet via your home network and features front-panel USB port for additional
storage. You must have a minimum 1GB USB memory device inserted in the unit's
front-panel USB port in order to download content from BD-Live.
FM Tuner: The BDV-N7200W features a built-in FM tuner and
stores up to 20 FM preset stations. There is no AM tuner.
Bluetooth + Remote Control
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Sony BDV-N7200W features
built-in Bluetooth (version 3.0) with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP
1.2) and basic control (AVRCP 1.3). You'll be able to wirelessly stream music
from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet,
Blackberry, Windows PC, or Mac computer to the Sony HT system. You'll also be
able to control basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip) using the
system's remote control. Advanced music operation will still need to be handled
from your Bluetooth-enable device. There is no song/artist information display
on the BDV-N7200W or your connected TV; continue to use your Bluetooth device's
screen to view song/artist info.
- SBC/AAC/aptX Decoding: In addition to SBC and AAC audio
codes, the BDV-N7200W employs AptX audio coding technology for
lossless, CD-quality streaming with compatible AptX-compatible phones (like
- SSP + NFC Pairing: The BDV-N7200W pairs wirelessly and
effortlessly with Bluetooth enabled devices (up to 9) with a single press of
a button. Bluetooth-enabled devices (like Android 2.3.3 or later) that have
Near Field Communication (NFC) are even easier to pair with; simply touch
the device to the NFC logo on the receiver and they're paired. The
NFC Easy Connect app
is needed for your Android device, unless you have Android OS 4.1 or later
installed. Once paired, the AV receiver will automatically re-connect to
your device when within range (up to 33').
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some
Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may
not support all features when used with this Sony system.
Dual Mobile Apps: The Sony BDV-N7200W Blu-ray home theater
system can be controlled from your Apple iOS device or Android smartphone/tablet
using one of the below apps from the Apple App or Google Play store.
- Sony TV SideView App: With the free Sony TV SideView
App, you can control the Blu-ray BDV-N7200W and browse content from your
Apple iPod touch/iPhone/iPad (5.0+) or Android smartphone/tablet (2.2+).
Simply download this app from the
App Store or
Google Play Store. The TV SideView App will allow your compatible Apple
iOS or Android device to act as a remote control and software keyboard for
the Sony Blu-ray system. You can also view disc information and search for
Sony Bravia Internet apps from your compatible mobile device. In addition,
you can use your Apple iOS/Android device to stream your videos, pictures,
and music stored on your Windows computer or DLNA server to the Blu-ray HT
system and your connected TV.
- SongPal Remote App: By downloading Sony's free SongPal
remote app (from
Google Play Store), you can use your Apple iOS (6.0+) or Android (2.3+)
device to control the BDV-N7200W HT system via Bluetooth or WiFi connection.
From the SongPal remote app, you can select input sources and customize
sound settings of the Sony home theater system. You'll also be able to
browse music stored on your Network, Computer, or a USB mass storage class
device from the SongPal remote app on your compatible smartphone. You'll
even be able to access the BDV-N7200W system's built-in online music
services; like Pandora, TuneIn, and Music Unlimited. In addition, you can
access stored music and other apps on your smartphone using the SongPal
remote app. The SongPal app will display song/artist information and album
Note: The mobile apps require that the Sony Blu-ray
system and your Apple iOS or Android device be connected to the same compatible
wireless network with the remote device connected through an 802.11 access point
IR Remote + HDMI Control: The supplied IR remote control
provides wireless operation of the home theater system. It is also preprogrammed
to operate Sony and other manufacture's televisions. There is a dedicated
"Netflix" button to instantly access your online Netflix movies and TV shows.
In addition, when the Sony BDV-N7200W is connected to a compatible HDMI-CEC TV via HDMI, you can operate the system with simplified controls.
- One-Touch Play: By pressing "Play" on the unit or the
remote, the TV turns on and is set for the Blu-ray input mode automatically.
- System Audio Control: While watching TV, you can switch
the sound to come out of either the TV or the BDV-N7200W's speakers.
- TV Control: You can control the basic functions of the
system via your Sony Bravia TV's remote when the system's video output is
displayed on the TV screen.
- Language Control: When you change the language for the
on-screen display of your TV, the system's on-screen display language is
- System Power Off: When you turn the TV off by using the
Timers: The BDV-N7200W offers Screen Saver, Sleep Timer, and
Auto Standby functions.
- Screen Saver: The screen saver image appears when you do not
use the Home Theater System for more than 10 minutes while an on-screen display,
such as the home menu, is displayed on your TV screen. The screen saver image
helps prevent your display devices from becoming damaged.
- Sleep Timer: You can set the system to turn off after a
preset time period, so you can fall asleep listening to music, The time can be
preset in intervals of 10 minutes.
- Auto Standby Mode: If any button on the Home Theater System
