Keep the party going for hours with Sony's CDP-CE500 disc changer. Load up to five of your favorite CDs, CD-Rs, or CD-RWs, and let the changer play each one straight through, or choose shuffle play for a surprise mix from any combination of discs. The player's Ex-Change feature lets you swap out up to four of your discs without stopping the music. Plus, the 'CE-500 expands your listening options with a front-panel USB port. Just plug in a flash drive loaded with tunes to play them back through your stereo. You can even transfer music directly from your CDs onto the flash drive. All recording is done in the MP3 format so you can fit hours of your favorites on a single drive.
The remote lets you control the changer from a comfortable seat, and its direct access buttons let you quickly locate specific songs or program a customized playlist of tracks. You also get front-panel controls for quick, easy track selection right from the player. An optical digital output lets you make a crystal-clear direct digital connection to an external DAC (digital-to-analog converter) or home theater receiver.
this player is awesome, im hearing sounds from this that i did not hear from my Yamaha 5 disc changer, and it works flawlessly with cd'rs that i recorded on my computer
Pros: works great
Quick delivery. Worked right out of box. Sounds great. Just what we wanted.
Pros: Great features.
Replaced 15 year old unit.
Pros: Easy to set up , intuitive controls.
Cons: Pretty big footprint
Couldn't believe a new disk player could actually my cd's sound better, wish I bought this machine years ago. I also like that I can change songs or disks while sitting on my patio and not need to go back inside and aim the remote at the player. So far it has played all my cd's and MP3's. Great product Sony
I have had a Sony 5 CD player deck for over twenty years. It is similar to the new one however they have improved the deck by adding an optical connection to your receiver. In addition the new deck plays MP3 files and has a USB input. I probably will not use the USB input but the optical connection and the MPS ability are real pluses. The sound with the optical direct digital connection is bright and extremely clear. Crutch field has excellent delivery time and excellent support.
Pros: Optical connection and MP3 player ability. Some people have complained about how loud the disc exchange process is. I disagree it makes a bit of noise but certainly nothing I would complain about. A great buy!!!
Cons: None whatsoever.
Great player a -sound investment .This is a replacement for the original sony 5 disk player that I owned for over ten years. That comes to less than a dollar a month.
Pros: Affordable . Remote is easy to use.
Sounded great and great price. But I ordered a multi disc system so I could shuffle songs. this system was malfunctioning so it was sent back.
Sony CDP-CE500 changer seems to work flawlessly in playing multiple CD one after the other. We've not used many of the features yet, including the USB conntion (This seems likely to be very useful) because we have only had it for a few days.
Pros: Changer works well, smoothly. Sound is very good.
Cons: Have not seen any.
The cd player is mostly good but it has some flaws or at least things that could be improved. Out of the dozen cds I've tried, thre are 5 that the player refuses to play. yet they play fine in a small portable cd player. the trays could be numbered so that I can tell which slot I'm putting a cd into. if I press Pause and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes, it shuts off. But on the cds that it will play, it does an excellent job.
Pros: the cds that it does play, it does an excellent job
Cons: it refuses to play 5 out of the dozen cds I've tried ( all were pre-recorded cds that I've bought over the years ).
Got this when my 25 year old 5 disc CD player finally was broken beyond repair. I am thrilled with the quality and the sound for such a little price! It sounds so much better than my old CD player which was high end 25 years ago (go figure). Kinda glad it broke now!
Pros: Flawless sound
Cons: Haven't quite figured it all out yet....just took it out of the box and hooked it up.....
Replaced existing Sony CD player with this one. Had the previous Sony CD player for several years and had good luck with it.
Pros: Like the carousel design for multiple CD's
Cons: No CD shuffle button on the player only on the remote which works great
I haven't rated this yet because I am not getting any sound from it and I cannot find a volumne button anywhere....need help !!!!

Best changer I ever had
Pros: Much better than memorex
This cd player has great sound. Its easy to use for those of use who are electronically challenged. ?? My husband is very satisfied and loves the load feature where you can change a cd while one is playing. It was a great price and free shipping can't beat that. Will keep this company in mind for any future purchases. Very smooth transaction.
Pros: Great sound, price and features
Cons: None that we have found.
Just bought this as a Christmas present for my wife. Have not had a chance to use it yet because it is still wrapped up. I will do a more extensive review after I have had time to play with it. This review is for the price and quality of service received, for which I have no complaints. There are a lot fewer choices for cd players than there were a few years ago. This one looked like it was the best available based on reviews.
good unit at a good price
Very satisfied, the product is easy to use and program.
Pros: Very good spec's and easy to use, and program.
Cons: None so far
I picked up this cd player to replace a high end player that died. It sounds great, was easy to set up, and the controls are easy to read and understand. Highly recommend it for the price and quality.
Pros: good sound, easy operations
Cons: none so far
The Sony player is far superior to the one it replaced. It has noticeably better fidelity and more features such as a USB port.
Great product. Plug and play. I bought this unit to replace a Denon multi CD player. The Sony was half the price and works just as well in a pretty high end system.
Pros: Easy to install. Price point excellent for what you get. Basic, but what more to you want, unless you need or have a preamp.
Cons: None, yet.
So far this is shaping up to be one of the best CD players I've ever owned. It's easy to use, reproduces music faithfully and has the added benefit of the USB port. A great buy. Sony--no baloney!
The order was processed and came quickly, the Sony CD player with 5 disk changer was just as expected. Good quality sound, and even the capability to turn your CD collection into digital music on a USB drive. Nice.
Pros: Great quality for the price.
Cons: None really.
Player is very similar to one I purchased 20+ years ago and just now began to fail. That is why I stuck with the same brand (Sony) and practically identical fetures model.
Pros: Basically simple for simple people like me!
Cons: Some of the ways to do things are slightly different and I don't care for change. But overall it is a good piece of equipment.
Player was delivered promply and works great!
Just what I was looking for. Excellent product.
Married this sony cd changer to my 43 year old marantz 2240B stereo. They couldn't be more happy together. I also plug in my sony MDR-7506 pro headphones. Sit back crank it up hear crisp, clean, clear sound, with a lot of punch if you like it. Some years back I had a freind that got me into a recording studio with the Eagles, I close my eyes and I feel like I was there again. You cant go wrong with this unit.
Pros: get one.
Cons: Dont get one.
My previous CD player finally died after about 20 years ... I had not been looking to replace it otherwise. That said, I am extremely pleased with this product. The price was good through Crutchfield, it works fine, was easy to set up and it included upgraded technology that I was previously not aware of (since I had not been looking at what was new over the years that I owned my previous player.
Pros: Good price and tech support if needed by buying from Crutchfield; works great; easy to set up; nice features including 5 CD capacity with shuffle and a more complete remote versus what I had previously.
Cons: None (I've had the unit only a short time and am confident that if anything negative develops Crutchfield will back it).
Good quality ,, plays great with ease of operation . sounds great !!
Pros: quality,,, great pricing ,, easy to operate.
Cons: BIG ,,, over sized for it own good. CD tray only comes out enough to change 1 cd at a time . It could easily have been made to extend another 2 inches . making replacing 2 cd's at a time more convenient .Unit it over sized .
This unit is an upgrade to a 15 - 20 year old Sony 5 disc CD changer and it is nice to have all the functions available from the remote control. It works very well, and is quick to change discs and quiet in doing so. I used a Toslink cable to connect it and the output of the changer is great, since the music is so full.
Pros: quick response to commands, quite operation
Excellent sound quality and mechanics. Didn't need & haven't used the changer, but this was the best deal at the best price for a CD player.
Pros: Sound quality, convenience of remote control.
Cons: Programing is a little more cumbersome than my old Technics player.
Carousel CD players are becoming extinct as more folks move to playing music on iPods/ iPads. We still have a bunch of very good CVD's which we like to play- this Sony combined good sound, a 5 CD capacity, and an attractive price. While we looked at other online sites which offered this player for a few dollar less, we ordered it from Crutchfield because have had great experiences with them
Pros: Good sound and a five CD player
Cons: None come to mind
Easy to install and use
Great 5 disc player.
Pros: Player will play a disc while you add or change a disc.
Cons: none so far
This player is easy to use and provides hours of CD quality music using 5 discs. I appreciate the shuffle function although it is only available from the remote. Overall, a great value.
Pros: Fair price, easy to use.
Cons: Shuffle option not accessible from main unit.
Ever since my mom's CD changer/player broke -all in one shelf systems- she had been using different ways to play her CD's& this changer was a bday present that has lit up her life because now she has the ability to seamlessly play her CD collection& this player allows usb connection as well!
Pros: 5 disc changer; USB connection; RCA plug-ins& comes with RCA plug-ins
I intend for this to be the last CD player/rec I buy. I have great speakers and amp out of storage and was looking into buying a high end CD player to match or buying a really cheap one and not buying any more CDs when I found this little jewel.
Pros: Appears to have a good clean signal going out to amp. Easy use of remote. Five disc changer. Matches my Sony amp (never hurts). Great Crutchfield price for the quality. I think it would take an audiophile with money to burn to get a player with any truly discernable quality improvement.
Cons: None so far.
Excellent product. You can't go wrong with anything made by Sony. Good sound for the money.
Pros: Good sound, Good price. Sony products have always been excellent in my opinion.
Cons: Larger than I thought it would be.
Great sound reproduction - really like the product!
Pros: I am enjoying the ability to change discs while a disc is playing - my previous unit didn't have this feature. Easy set-up.
Cons: No complaints.
CD changer/player works well. My only complaint is the somewhat abrupt, loud noise from the machine when the disc is changing.
Pros: Simple setup and good sound
Cons: Machine noise when the disc is changing.
I have had this product for a short time, but so far it has preformed well. I was concerned about the the reading of CDRs. I have only played two, and I have not had a problem.
Pros: Sound is good. Reads CDRs.
Cons: Clanks on disk change. Hard to read controls.
I love the fact that the player has usb input. I just wish it played wav files as well as mp3.
Cons: limit on usb formats
While going back to school and trying to live as a minimalist, for a short while I was satisfied with listening to digital music on my computer. I had finally had enough, Pink Floyd just didn't do it for me anymore. Now, thanks to the great deal from a company I respect and tell all my friends about, I can feel the music again. Sony is not who I turn too when I think of quality sound, I was/am impressed. Yes, the carousel is loud, but has an authoritative thump and quick action. I can hardly wait to get all my equipment back together again. I get the feeling I will be even more impressed with this unit using the hardware that can back it up. Even with 25 year old bookshelf speakers, the music has come back alive. It has made me rethink digital music. Because of this one component, I will start buying higher quality music again. Maybe the music industry needs to get involved in a campaign that touts high quality components like this one, paired with high quality recordings. At this price point, and with Crutchfield standing behind it, it was a no brainer.
Pros: 5 Disc. Price + quality. Well designed remote with a soft responsive touch. Looks great sitting on my Kenwood AVR.
Cons: None yet.
I had an old receiver and speakers sitting around and decided to use them for a bedroom stereo. All I needed was a CD player and this unit fit the bill. It sounds fine (don't all CD players?) and fits perfectly under my receiver. The remote works from all angles in the room and it's easy to select tracks and to program; although the process is a little different than the Sony in my main system. It is a little noisy when it changes discs, but what do you want for $150?
Pros: Easy set up. Decent sound. Good value.
Cons: Noisy when it changes discs.
As much I utilize the various music streaming services, I still pull out my CDs on a regular basis; since I already own one of these Sony CDP-CE500 CD changers, I decided to order another. This one is going into my newly-upgraded bedroom system. This CD changer operates smoothly with very little noise (other than the platter rotation sound, which is minimal). The remote is well though-out and easy to use. Those "in the know" may point to higher-grade (and much more expensive) players as having "better hardware", such as a certain kind of Digital-to-Analog converter that may or may not be better than the one in the CDP-CE500, but at this price point, the Sony provides a smooth, dynamic sound that sparkles (to my ears, anyway). There are two choices for connection to an AV receiver: red/white analog or optical digital. If I understand correctly, using the optical connection will bypass the CD changer's internal hardware and allow an AV receiver to do the digital to analog decoding. Don't quote me on that, though - just ask the super-helpful advisers at Crutchfield; I'm sure they'd know. Me, I just sit back and listen to the sweet, sweet sound of my CDs...
Pros: Affordable, easy to use, great sound, record to/read from USB, connection options, durability (so far)
Excellent changer. I could not be more pleased. Sony is my preferred brand for stereo equipment.
Pros: None. Just installed.
Cons: None. Just installed.
This is one of the few CD players that includes a USB function to play digital music from a flash drive with a random/shuffle play option.
Pros: Plays both CDs and digital music, has a random play option, and can handle a very large number of folders and files on a flash drive.
Cons: None so far.
Good unit, I used to have a Harmon Cardon, but the mechanism inside broke. I like this Sony unit so far, good unit for the money for sure. I would like more features, but I also realize that would cost more. Sound clarity is good, running it through my H-C receiver unit. Ultimately, it's best to buy from Crutchfield, they back up their products and have excellent service. That is why i buy from here, not just prices.
Pros: price quality
Cons: lack of extra features
Bought this to replace Marantz CD changer that was on the way out. This one has better sound quality. For the price, it is a solid pieceof equipment so far.
Pros: Good sound quality. Easy to use
Cons: On shuffle play all discs- Changer seems to be prejudiouciously random- meaning that it seems to favor certain disks more than others
Product as advertised and performs flawlessly; a good quality changer at a great price! Crutchfield delivered as promised and expected; this Sony replaced my 20 year+ Sony.
Pros: For me hookup was a simple swap, and I was off and running.
Cons: None noted at this time.
I read the reviews of this CD player before I bought it and debated buying one much more expensive. This unit is fine -- even superior. We have a 300 disc carousel and my wife complains that discs disappear in it, meaning that she never knows quite what she is choosing until it plays. With this unit it is easy to have a new 5 CD selection each time and to know just what is being played.
Pros: Controls, USB input/output.
Cons: None as yet.
Back in 2006, I bought a Denon DCM-290 carousel CD changer, partly because Sony didn't have a model as good as this. And while my Denon is working fine, I prefer the Sony brand, to compliment my other Sony components. This is a fine CD player. The design clean and in-line with some of the best CD players Sony made in the 1990s. It also has a USB port so you can play MP3 and AAC audio files (it can access folders and subfolders to find the files). It also records CDs onto a USB sticks in real-time (in MP3 format only). I suppose this is useful for building massive playlists for continuous playback. But if you need to quickly rip a CD track to MP3 for AAC format, a laptop or desktop computer is still best. This has an optical digital output (toslink), so you can connect it to your receiver for optimal digital to analog conversion.
Pros: Digital toslink output Easy to read buttons / tray spaces Bright, classic display MP3 playback either on disc or through a USB device
Cons: No coaxial digital output
Just exactly what I needed and expected. I have a number of multi-disk recordings of piano and orchestral music which I like to play for hours. For my needs, it's perfect. Crutchfield's expert advisors are exceptional. Thanks.
Have a similar unit for my personal use for 23 years so I bought a this unit for my mother. Connected up easily and works as expected.
Very good replacement for an ageing Sony unit. Totally comparable with the other Sony components. Very smooth operation amd great controls. Looks fine On the shelf. No issues or problems.
Pros: Easy to program and control. And as for Crutchfield, great packaging, Shipment and price.
Cons: None, exactly what I wanted.
Great little CD Changer at a good price.
Pros: Economical, Seems to function as advertised, good specs for the price.
After playing new and old CD the sound is great, no complaints. Shipping was awesome, fast, items well packed.
Pros: Great product for the price.
Cons: No cons as of yet
Pros: It replaced my 30 year or more unit and works fine, a easy hookup!
The Sony CDP-CE500 replaced a Yamaha 5-disc CD player purchased a number of years ago. I was surprised that this machine was actually larger than that (I expected a newer machine to be smaller), but I have found the operation to be simple and straightforward, and the quality of the sound to be excellent.
Pros: Sound quality
I am so pleased with the CD player. It is everything I expected. I have a shelf system and the CD player quit working. I bought the Sony, plugged it into the aux jack on the back and it works great. Very easy to use. So glad I purchase this item. Love it! I've got my Christmas music playing again this year.
Pros: Very easy to hook up and use.
Sounds good and works well so far. It does not seem to be able to play cdrs though. The ad and the manual say it does. Cdrs that played fine in my deceased Onkyo do not work at all in this. If that's important, you may not want it. Everything else is still fine, and I'm happy for the price. For $98 I don't expect audiophile quality.
Pros: price, sound
Cons: doesn't do everything it claims
Sony quality, easy to use, and very good documentation. I'm looking foward to years of use.
Pros: Quality, simplicity, and Sony durability.
It's a Sony nothing but the best.
Pros: Sony quality
The current Sony 5 CD changer we purchased from Crutchfield had a malfunction after 28 Years. It was purchased in 1986 with my High End Sony Receiver which we still have and is going strong. We decided to purchase a new one. It was delivered within 2 days We Love it and will continue to purchase from Crutchfield. You stand behind your products %100 I purchased 2 receivers, Advent Speakers, and two CD changers from you back in the 1980's
Pros: Service, quality, exceptional product for a great price
Product was as advertised. Very fast shipping. Great company to deal with.
Pros: Works as advertised. Appears to be good quality
Cons: Parts of instructions on use confusing as to how device actually works.
This is the third of these I've owned and they've all worked perfectly right out of the box. This latest model seems to be more like the first one I had many years ago and I expect to get the same long use out of it.
Pros: Simple to set up, understand & use
Cons: Changer a bit noisy but that's ok.
This is a good CD turntable. It has all the features you would expect except for one - CD-TEXT. It will play CD-TEXT just fine, but it won't display the CD-TEXT. It displays the MP3 tags just fine, but no CD-TEXT. Other than that, it has a TOSLINK to run it straight into wherever you have an upscale DAC. It is a little noisy on random, but usually I am using random for casual listening so it isn't a significant issue.
Pros: MP3 Display, Easy to exchange CD's
Cons: No CD-TEXT display (does play, just no display)
Hooked player up and it works great!
I purchased this player to replace a Sony 10-CD player that I owned for probably close to 20 yrs. The only reason that one failed was due to operator error. I'm expecting the same longevity from this player and perhaps longer because of its simpler design. Though this one holds half the number of discs, my user experience indicates that 5 CDs should be more than enough to supply background music for the duration of the next dinner party or some Sunday morning jazz at breakfast.
Pros: Easy setup and operation. The ability to record to a USB. Price. Good sound quality for a non-audiophile. Remote is uncomplicated and works well.
Cons: Disc numbers on the carousel were difficult to read since they are molded in the same black plastic as the rest of the tray. Since the numbers are raised, a white paint pen was used to highlight the numbers. This was an easy, quick, and effective fix.
Easy setup, ready to go right from the box, sound is great as well. Controls and display are well designed, even the remote is nicely designed and easy to use.
Pros: Great value, and does what it's designed for very well.
Cons: None yet.
Easy setup works great
WORKS GREAT IMPRESSED
This is the first CD Changer I have purchased from Sony, I have a Kenwood 6 Disc. Love it. I love my Sony CD Changer even more because It compliments my Sony receiver and surround sound speakers. The day I purchased it and pluged it in, the music sound so sweet coming from six speakers I thought I was at a concert in my living room. On second thought, I was at a concert. The Sony cd changer runs smooth and very quite. You can play an entire CD or mix it up to where it is playing a track from every CD in a random order. This is really cool. I just love my CD changer and hope it run longer that my Receiver (9 yrs and still going). Thanks Sony for making a perfect product. "Love it love it love it" Thank you for reading.
Pros: Nice looking, quite, very easy to operate.
Cons: 5 disc only however, it still does the job
2 min to hook up. went right to work. same as the sony cdp-c245 that it replaced(it was more than 20 yrs old, hope the new one lasts that long).
Sound good, easy set up.
Pros: Good sound, easy set up,good price.
Cons: No volume control in remote control.
Outstanding player-easy to program-sounds great!
Pros: More than 1 cd-programmable-can easily download music to my ipad with usb plug-in
Cons: Haven't found one yet.
This player is easy to use and I don't have to fear a disc will be lost or caught up in the mechanism as It did with my old one. The cost was very competitive especially with free shipping and no tax.
Great value Easy to set up
Pros: quick set up and priced right
Cons: only holds 5 CDs
Machine works well. Predecessor model I had lasted four years heavy use. The CDP-CE500 has USB connection which prior model did not. The newer model is not able to read the song titles encoded on the CD's which the older model could.
Four stars because of the price. It works fine, but seems to be rather edgy. That is, too bright. For my use (in my garage) it works fine. I don't think you can beat it for the price.
Pros: Price, ease of hookup, versatility .
Cons: Sound is too bright.
Crutchfield made it easy and Sony made it easy to set up. Good price to load 5 cd at a time for party play.
Pros: Easy , 5 cd with programmable mix , old tech but works great
Cons: not much to say, would have like a little lower price point for old tech.
I can't give much of a review because so far I have not been able to figure out how to make this CD changer work! I have five college degrees so I am not a dummy. I was thrilled with the price of the Bose speakers I bought from you to go with the changer but they aren't much good if I can't make the changer work.
Cons:Crutchfield response on June 24, 2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Easy to install, took about 15 minutes total, easy to use and great sound. Love the Sony quality.
Pros: User friendly and good quality sound.
Cons: Haven't found any yet.
One of the few multi disc CD changers still on the market. Does what it's designed to do. Appreciate the excellent service from Crutchfield! Came double boxed and well protected. Shipped quickly and free!!
Pros: Hours of uninterrupted music. Has digital optical output in addition to analog outputs. Auto shutoff feature after discs finish playing. Have not had any problems playing either standard CD's or CD-R's
Cons: Somewhat noisy when switching from one disc to another.
i am giving it 5 stars for now even though i have only used it to play CDs. Have yet to use the MP3 feature etc. Hooked up fine to my 20 year old Sony Logics Reciever. We will see how thr rest off it functions in time. i have faith it will be just fine.
Pros: Cds play quite clearly
Cons: Have used all functions yet
I still don't believe how great this product is. The PRICE is Great. And shipping is unbelievable fast and free. Thank you for your EXCELLENT SERVICE!!
Pros: USB works great.
The product works great. Very happy. Delivery was fast, pricing was great Could not be more satisfied
Pros: Appreciate the ability to change a CD without cancelling the current selection. Easy to use
This CD player fits right in with my sony "stack" system, or you can use it in conjunction with any amplifier & speaker system you have been using,,Plug in to any 110 volt outlet, plug the 2 furnished audio wires into the unit & amplifier, push the remote "on" button and listen to this little gem lay down the sounds...(don't forget to load the 5 CD's)
Pros: Ease of purchase from Crutchfield...Fast double-boxed delivery to your door...No-tech set-up...and a "shuffle" mode that plays single songs from all five CD's(one song at a time of course)
Cons: I'll let you know if I come across any???
Very easy to use and had it running in about 10 minutes. Sounds great with cd's playing and also out of usb port. I did not realize usb port connection when I bought it but saw it when I unpacked the unit. NICE !!! Use this with flash drive to play hours of music all day . I am pleased with the selection.
Pros: Sound great at the price paid for. Bought it for my workshop but never made out of the house yet.
Love this CD player. I was warned by audiophile friends to avoid multiple disk CD players, but I love the convenience and I love being able to shuffle and play several albums. So I was willing to take a "lesser" player, but that is not the case at all. This unit plays great and sounds excellent on my set up. I've had it for a couple of weeks with about 30 hours burned in. I have had Sony CD players before and I haven't been disappointed yet. This one is a jewel and at a great price.
Pros: Great value for a multiple disk CD player.
Cons: Not for the hi-fi crowd. -but you already knew that.
Some time ago I used to have an older model. This new one has everything I need. A five disc carrousel that allows me to shuffle the five discs. Of course the Sony sound is up to par.
Great for the money - kind of mid-line; not too expensive, not too cheap.
Pros: Plays 5 CDs
I just replaced an old Sony CD Player that I had used for a good 20 years, but it finally wore out. This replacement is the modern equivalent of the Sony 5 Disk CD Player and is more than satisfactory. It plays well and has a number of new features, including playing a USB Drive with MP3 tunes, that makes it a nice addition to my home audio system.
This unit replaced a 1991 Nakamichi machine perfectly. Simple to install. Re-packaged device had no flaws.
I needed a new device for playing my CD's and chose this Sony because of the price. I was pleasantly surprised by it's design and features.
Pros: Easy to set up and easy to use.
Everything is great!
Pros: Easy to use and it was an easy set up.
Easy set up, and it has a great sound. It is just as the Crutchfield described it.
Very easy to install and had up and running in 15 minutes. Very good performance.
Pros: Love playing 5 CD's at a time. Easy installation.
Just as the title says - exactly what I was looking for to replace a previous CD changer.
We are very pleased with our sony compact 5 disc player, we can put the 5 cd's in and listen to hours of music! The cd player is as described and good quality for the value!
Very good and well thought out disc changer. It is very easy to use. Crutchfield recommended the components and that is what we got. Great doing business with them.
Pros: Very good equipment and well thought out.
Easy setup. Out of the box and into the rack in 10 minutes. Easy to use remote. Crutchfeild shipping/service was fast.
This player replaces a 20 year old Fisher Studio Standard unit. Easy to use, great sound on my old stereo. So far, very pleased. Hopefully, will get to update review in another 20 years.
Pros: Price, good value, ability to record to a thumb drive.
Cons: Would prefer an open top instead of a drawer which makes it more time consuming to load and unload. Requires a bigger footprint than my old unit.
Easy to hook up and play
Pros: out of the box hooked up in two minutes
Cons: none yet
Disc player works great and sounds good. The usb digital file reader works great and is helpful with music storage.
A few CD's won't play
I guess we're dinosaurs, but our main source of music at home is our wonderful collection of CDs. This player loads easily, is designed so jams are almost impossible, and has a sleek slender line that takes up minimum space in our media center. Everything about its operation is smooth and simple. Though CD players are not complex pieces of equipment, we've had enough problems in the past that we appreciate the quality of this machine. The sound quality of our CDs seems to have improved with this player. Excellent value for cost.
Pros: Smooth operation Nice styling Optimal sound
The CD player sounds and looks good. I like the ability to listen to a variety of tunes for a extended period time. The carousel is excellent for me especially with the holidays approaching, I could use the USB port but I like my library in my music room. The CD player is a good bet for me. I do have a Cambridge 651 single CD player for top quality sound.
Pros: To play a variety of tunes spontaneously.
Cons: None as of yet.
Very easy to set up,works nice no problems
Pros: Ok is works as stated
I was surprised that this unit can FF a song and the CD acts like a cassette tape and stops where I want it to, every other CD player I own ,it's impossible to do this to a CD.
Pros: the operator can stop the CD in the middle of a song
Cons: the player doesn't play DVD's also
easy to install, easy to use ... SO glad we still have access to a good CD player!!
Pros: Hook up is easy
this product seem very good just had for a few day the only thing i dont care for is how u load and unload disc
Pros: for the price cant beat it
Over 20 years ago I bought basically the same unit for about 150 dollars and that little machine worked fantastic!!! Just the other day my older son (age 27) came down into my Pub and jinxed it by saying something like this " wow, this thing still works? Incredible it hasn't broken yet". So you know what happen a few days later. Yes, the turntable inside started to stick and the drawer wouldn't eject or close properly. I took the cover off and looked at it and tried to see if I could bring it back. No such luck though and now it's buried in with dead pets out in the back yard ( just kidding). I immediately got online and ordered a brand new machine for about the same money and it arrived and WOW! This one is AWESOME, with all the new and up-to-date features that make listening to music LOUD fantastic. It doesn't skip at all when your are really cranking your amp. I haven't used all the features yet but somehow with Sony I am not worried.
Pros: It has a lot of nice features that are probably fairly standard nowadays for carrousel changers. Definately a step up from my old Sony. For the price, YOU CANNOT LOOSE!
Cons: It will maximize a shelf depth
Only had the machine 2 weeks and played 12 CD's. I'm very pleased with the performance, very easy to use remote, even Wifey got the hang of it right away.So I'm a happy chappy at the moment.
Pros: Easy to use and it looks good.
Cons: None as yet,
Have owned Sony carousel changers before, this was a replacement for a similar model I purchased 20 + years ago.
Pros: Easy to use, matches & is compatible with existing stereo components.Good price & value, Crutchfield name & Sony reliability/ quality were key in the purchasing decision.
Cons: shuffle & repeat sequencing takes long between tracks
I had considered a carousel CD player for many years but had never purchased one until recently. I tend to review and compare prior to buying and have to say the Sony CDP-CD500 is a great option regardless of your budget. It can hook up either as an analog or digital device, and is quick to get up and running. I have been very impressed with its performance and it has seen almost daily use for two weeks now. I am "old school" and like when the main function buttons are on the unit as well as the remote - this CD player meets this well. I have seen other reviews stating this player has quality issues - this can be said of anything you buy. For the money, you cannot go wrong with this CD player. No sound or playing issues and have not used the shuffle mode or USB option.
Pros: Primary mode/function commands on unit and remote, analog & digital hookup options, quick setup.
Cons: This is not a con but something to be aware of - it is a deep square so ensure where you will place it has 16" or more depth or it will not fit. This is true for any carousel CD player and is only an issue if your enclosure is not open on the back.
Crutchfield delivers again. Easy-to-use website, excellent selection and pricing, rapid-fire shipping. They even use eco-peanuts for packing, which I rinsed down my bathtub! This Sony CD player was super easy to install and sounds beautiful. A very good buy for the money. Haven't tried the flash drive yet, but all of my old CDs sound great, even the ones that skipped all over the place on my previous component (not a Sony). I'm very happy with this purchase.
Pros: very simple set-up, excellent quality sound, easy to operate, nice remote control
Crutchfield fulfilled the order on a timely basis. The player connected easily to my system and performs well. We're enjoying our purchase.
Pros: Quality service, easy to connect, high quality sound - the component delivers as advertised.
Very nice quality without the price. I have my hooked into a Onkyo reciever via optical cable. Sound quality is exceptional.
Pros: Price, optical output, ease of operation
Great product. I highly recommendi it.
Dependable, plays well
Needed a replacement for multi CD player and the Sony cdp-ce500 player fit the bill. The sound quality is much better than the Technics unit it replaced and the setup was very easy. From taking this unit out of the box to actually playing a cd took less than 5 minutes! Extremely satisfied.
Pros: Very good sound quality, even with 20+ year old CDs. Simple setup. Flash drive compatible.
Cons: None so far.
This unit replaced a Sony 308ESD that was 22 years old. The new unit is easy to setup and use. Fidelity and tonal qualities are on par with the old unit. Other comments that mention it's noisy is a non-issue with me. It's a mechanical changer and is bound to produce some noise in changing discs. Overall, a very good buy for the money.
The CD player is working great but only for a few weeks. Time will tell if it holds up.
Pros: Great price. Easy to install. Good sound. I've tried all features including USB.
Easy set-up, great sound, a perfect replacement for our old excellent Sony CD player, all at a good price. Thanks for all your help, and fast shipping.
So Far so good. Had a Sony 300 disc changer before this but didn't hold up well over a few years. Hope that this 5 disc will be better and last longer
Pros: Easy to use, good remote functions
Cons: a little loud when going to another disc
Works well, but does not play all CD music, which was very disappointing.
Pros: Works well and very easy to use.
Cons: Does not play all CD"s.
Simple, reliable, convenient, easy interface with amplifier and the sound quality is quite excellent. I have a lot of CD's which I won't be converting to mp3 etc., and I just wanted something inexpensive but with great sound. This is it! I'll review again in six month after I've used it a while to see how it stands the test of time!
Pros: Quality, sound, easy setup, inexpensive.
I was looking for a inexpensive CD Player or recorder that could play more than one CD at a time. Most CD player only play one at a time. This player met my needs, and performs well. So far no complaints, Easy to operarate and sounds good.
Pros: Easy installation, Good instructions, Controls are clear.
Cons: None so far
These are getting harder to come by. Crutchfield rep helped me find this and a pair of bose speakers. Nice!
Can't complain about the qualituy-tho the first you sent was defective
Pros: Good quality sound and easy to operate
Cons: These units keep getting bigger and bigger - hard to fit in my 1900+- victrola-
we've only had this cd player for a few days so this review probably is premature. yet we are very impressed thus far. if we get a couple of years than we will be satisfied and of course we are hoping for a long life span. anyway, it seems that sony is finally coming out of their slump and producing quality products again. we have it hooked up via optical to our onkyo and the sound is really impressive. i can't get my head around all the hype of paying more than double of this player for a single disc player with less than half the features.
Pros: ease of use. features for the cost. cosmetics
Cons: none so far
Works as indicated, upgraded from my last Sony Changer, now with remote on/off, USB Port and MP3 Capability. Highly recommended
Pros: Super easy Set up. Clean Playback
Cons: Am more familiar with old Display for tracks and Programming, will take some getting used to.
After my 15 year old Technics CD player bit the dust, I had to find a replacement. After reading many other reviews about this carousel CD player I decided to take a chance on it. I'm very happy I did. It's very easy to operate, the displays on the front are clear and simple. So far it's been working beautifully. The reason I specifically wanted this model was because I play a lot of MP3 CD's, as well as audio CD's, and this CD player has an outlet for a 'digital optical cable' which make the MP3's sound crisper and cleaner (to my ears anyway). Just make sure your stereo receiver also has an outlet for the 'digital optical cable' ....some don't. I highly recommend this CD player. Also, Crutchfield shipped it in record time in a very sturdy box, and also provided excellent customer service on the phone.
Pros: Clean and simple displays; easy to use; looks nice. Great sound quality.
Cons: Opening up the carousel tray to change CD's is a little bit noisy; my old Technics model was quieter. But it's not a big issue for me, considering all the other positives.
it works to my satisfaction, I love this machine.
Pros: Mechanism working very good to my satisfaction.
Cons: I hveent found any yet.
The unit is very nice and works great
Pros: All good
Cons: Just a little deep for my stero cabinet...
Sony has done it again - - this CD player does everything it is suppose to do. Thanks to CRUTCHFIELD for the recommendation.
Pros: It is a great addition to the music listening - - through the holidays or anytime.
Cons: I have not been able to find any !!!
We just love our 5 disc CD changer!!! No messing with CD's now, and not having to change a CD every 45 minutes or so is great. I love the shuffle aspect of it. I just wish we had of had it before Christmas!
Pros: You can listen to CD's for a long period of time without having to attend to the changer. You can listen to varying types of music without touching anything.
Cons: Nothing about it I don't like!
Overall, I am quite happy with the player. It changes the discs as programmed and was easy to set up and use.
Pros: Easy to use for playing CD's.
Cons: Recording MP3's relatively easy, but replay in my Ford Synch leaves much to be desired. It skips from one file to another, seemingly almost at random. The included instructions(CD player)are not much good beyond basic recording mode.
Excellent, great sound and good price.
Pros: Easy to operate
This SONY multi disc CD player is the best, great sound and great features. Easy to set up and use, I recommend this product to anyone.
My previous Sony 5-Disc changer was 20 years old and loosing its mind. I certainly got my money's worth and replaced it with a near identical model. The newer player has a USB port on the front and plays mp3, wma, and aac - although, the sound isn't quite as nice playing on the USB stick.
It's a great unit - but, had to tag Sony for quality. The first unit arrived and would not play any CD. It went through its changer and reported no disc, forcing me to exchange it. Perhaps it would have been better to invest the money in a company who has tighter quality control.
This is a great player, great features, great value. It works with my old Sony remote control for the system I bought in 1991.
I have only had this cd player a few weeks. It is working great and serves my
needs to have non stop music for my cafe customers just fine. It was easy to
install and use.
Have been enjoying a variety of CD's since I recieved the changer.
My only complaint, is in the manner in which it plays the CD's in the "Shuffle"
mode. It seems to go into a funk at times and will shuffle only between two
disks for several songs. I seem to be able to cure it's funk by going into single
disc mode and then go back to "Shuffle". This cures it's funk for a while, but
then reverts back to it's funk.
It's hard to find multi-CD changers anymore. My wife needed one for her shop
for background music. This one fit the bill and it was a good price. Great sound
to my inexperienced ears. She likes it too.
Had a similar Sony model for ten years before it "passed on" this past December.
For the price the machine is great for those who still have a large CD collection
(and may be too lazy to copy to their iPod/iPad). Have both and sometimes this is
just more convenient. Sound is great and I like the optical output versus the older
component configuration. Access speed is significantly quicker than my "ten year
old" model. Without a doubt better sound quality, as would be expected with optical
audio. Running all through my Yamaha HDMI receiver further enhances the all
around digital clarity and crispness of the media. Great machine for the price.
Product exactly as described. Working well. Straightforward setup. No
I agree that this is a great buy! I was like a child, excited that it would arrive in 2 days:-) My old 5-cd carousel died a few months ago and what a joy to have music in my home again. Setup was very simple for me since I have been managing my stereo equipment and computers for over 20 years (female senior citizen). As for all of the technical "stuff," I do not know about it; I really just want to play my cds and I did not want 100- 200-, etc. changer because it is easier for me to decide what I want to hear using the 5- cd changer. I am so happy that my daughter's friend referred me to Crutchfield. Thanks
I bought this to replace a 16-year old Sony shelf system that was on its last leg
and got demoted to the garage. I wasn't interested in the "Mega Changers"
Sony offers because of mixed reviews. I like the Disc Exchange feature, and I
like the USB input for added tunes. I'm not wild about the CD-to-USB recording
feature, simply because if I wanted to convert CDs to mp3, I'd just use my
computer. The record-to-USB feature on this CD changer does not access
Gracenote (no Internet access), so although you can record a bunch of mp3
files, they're not tagged with the info you need to know what's playing. If you
don't mind listening to "Untitled_324.mp3" by Unknown Artist, or manually
naming your mp3 files using your computer, then maybe this feature won't bug
you. Also the recording feature defaults to 128 kbps, so if you prefer to rip song
files at a higher bit rate, then you should use your computer. You can, however,
load up a thumb drive with correctly tagged music at the bit rate of your choice
from your computer, and the changer can recognize the tagging and display
tracks either in menu mode or in play mode. (It probably sounds complicated
but it isn't. Most people listen to music at computers, and this is a function I
wasn't really looking for anyway.) Other than the record-to-USB-from-CD being
kind of a useless feature to me, I'm very satisfied with this product.

That old one has operated exceptionally in a dusty studio environment but is now starting to have some minor play issues and needs to be replaced.
