Your videos will sound great, too

If your video looks fantastic but sounds bad, it's still a disappointment. So Sony built in a 5.1 surround sound microphone to pick up all the voices and sounds that go with your images. The 'CX675 is just as smart about audio as it is about video. It enhances volume voices in front of the camera, and limits volume for the voice of the person holding the camera, so you get balanced dialogue levels.

Easy sharing options

The camera offers a dual recording mode that records high-resolution files and compressed files simultaneously. The larger files are perfect for editing into polished productions, and the compressed versions come in handy for quick sharing on the Internet.Built-in Wi-Fi even lets you live-stream video as it happens via USTREAM®, for sharing with family members who couldn't make it to the big event. Sony's Imaging Edge app makes it easy to transfer files wirelessly or control the camcorder using your mobile device. There's also quick-pairing with NFC-enabled Android™ devices, to make the process even simpler.Highlight Movie Maker lets you mark the best moments as you go, then compiles a quick, shareable highlight reel video of your outing.

General Features

Compatible Memory Cards: The Sony HDR-CX675 Full HD camcorder can record video and photos onto Memory Stick Micro (Mark2) memory cards, as well as microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC Memory Cards. The camcorder also has 32 GB of internal flash memory. Some restrictions apply to certain recording formats:

  • AVCHD: Memory Stick Micro (Mark 2 only) and microSD / microSDHC / micro SDXC Speed Class 4 or faster
  • XAVC S: microSDHC (4 GB or more) / microSDXC Speed Class 10 or faster

2.95" LCD Screen: The 2.95" Clear Photo LCD touch screen provides excellent viewing clarity with improved resolution. The 460,800-dot (960 x 480) LCD screen rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles providing sharp and detailed images for monitoring or playback. In addition, you can navigate through the menu system by touching the screen. You can also power on this camcorder by simply opening its LCD display.

Note: This camcorder does not include a separate viewfinder.

Imaging Device: The HDR-CX675 features an advanced 1/5.8" (3.1mm) back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS imaging sensor with 2.5MP gross pixels. The camcorder has 2.29 MP effective pixels for 16:9 movies and still images and 1.71MP effective pixels for 4:3 photos. The unique image processing system of the Sony BIONZ-X processor allows 16:9 still image resolution of up to 9.2 MP (4032 x 2272).

Sony G-type Lens: The camcorder features a premium-quality 1.9mm-57mm wide-angle Sony G-type lens designed specifically for compact camcorders. The 35mm equivalent is 26.8-804mm for 16:9 movies and still images.

30x Optical and 60x Clear Image Zoom: The CX675 has a 30x optical zoom and a 60x Clear Image Zoom. While most digital zooms electronically crop the picture to get closer to the subject, the Clear Image Zoom uses advanced processing to double the optical zoom. The processor compares patterns found in adjacent pixels and creates new pixels to match selected patterns, which results in more realistic, and clearer images. In addition to the Clear Image Zoom, you can activate the Digital Zoom for a total zoom value of 350x.

Balanced Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization: Balanced Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization with a 5-axis Intelligent Active Mode to compensate for camera shake. With SteadyShot activated, you'll get smooth video from wide angle to full telephoto, even while shooting footage while walking.

Built-in Wi-Fi: The CX675 has built-in Wi-Fi capability (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n), which allows you to use your smartphone or tablet as a viewfinder or remote control. Through the PlayMemories Mobile app, available for iOS and Android, you can perform numerous wireless functions. The One-Touch Sharing function lets you transfer your videos and photos from your camcorder to your mobile device or computer. You can wirelessly connect NFC-enabled Android devices by simply touching the device to the camera. You can also connect using the QR Code reader on your smartphone or tablet. Live streaming via UStream allows you to share events in real time.

Multi-Interface Shoe: The top-mounted Multi-Interface Shoe allows you to attach optional electronic accessories to the camcorder, including an external flash (HVL-F20M, HVL-F32M, HVL-F43M), video light (HVL-LE1), or microphone (ECM-XYST1M).

Face Detection: The camcorder's Face Detection technology recognizes faces and optimizes the camera settings for videos and still photos. Videos and photos recorded using Face Detection are indexed according to the faces detected in each scene. This allows you to search for what you want by selecting the faces displayed in the index.

Focus Modes: The Sony Handycam HDR-CX675 features Auto Focus and Manual Focus modes. When using Auto Focus, you can choose to focus on a subject in the center of the screen. For more difficult focusing situations, you can manually adjust the focus of the camcorder using the touch screen. The minimum focus distance is approximately 0.39" (1 cm) at wide angle and 31.5" (80 cm) at telephoto.

Intelligent Auto Mode: Intelligent Auto mode analyses the scene and automatically selects from three groups (face, scene, camera shake). There are up to 180 scene types, including night and backlit scenes.

White Balance Adjustment: Sets the color balance to the brightness of the recording environment. Your choices are:

  • Auto: The white balance is adjusted automatically.
  • Outdoor: The white balance is adjusted for the following conditions: Outdoors, night views, neon signs and fireworks, sunrise, sunsets, under daylight fluorescent lamps.
  • Indoor: The white balance is adjusted for the following conditions: Indoors, party scenes and studios where lighting conditions change quickly, and under the video lamps or incandescent-like color lamps.
  • One Push: The white balance will be adjusted according to the present ambient light.

Data Code Function: The camcorder automatically records time codes along with the images you shoot, so you can display the date and time during playback or editing. You can also display the camera settings when recording movies or photos.

Protect: You can protect movies and photos to avoid deleting them by mistake.

Power On By LCD: You can set the camcorder to automatically power on when you open the LCD, and turn off when you close the LCD.

Video Camcorder Features

Video Recording: The HDR-CX675 records High Definition video in 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios with 5 image sizes to choose from. Movies can be recorded in XAVC S format at 50 Mbps, using MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression and linear PCM audio compression. Video can also be shot in AVCHD (with Dolby Digital 5.1 or 2-channel audio) and MPEG-4 modes (AAC 2-ch audio):

Image Quality Bit Rate Pixels
XAVC S 50 Mbps 1920 x 1080/60p, 30p, 24p
AVCHD (PS) 28 Mbps 1920 x 1080/60p

AVCHD (LP) 5 Mbps 1440 x 1080/60i

Dual Record: In the Dual Record mode, you can record HD video and high-resolution still images simultaneously.

Time-Lapse: You can capture a series of still images continuously over a period of time at a set interval. You can select intervals of 1, 2, 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds, and between 1 and 999 shots. Image sizes are 1920 x 1080. These photos can be played back as a time-lapse movie.

Built-In 5.1-channel Zoom Mic: The built-in 5.1-channel surround microphone can clearly capture the atmosphere of the scene. The Zoom Microphone records sound with directivity as you move the power zoom lever. The camcorder's microphone level can be set to Low or Normal. The CX675 also has a 3.5mm microphone input for an optional external microphone.
