Inputs and Outputs Notes
The Sony DAV-X10 is an integrated system that includes a single-disc
DVD/SACD/Video CD/Audio CD player/receiver, two front surround speakers and a passive subwoofer.
The supplied wireless remote operates the system, plus multiple brands of televisions and
cable boxes. The system also comes supplied with a Bluetooth Wireless Audio
Amplifier: This unit is powered by the S-Master Full Digital Amplifier built
inside the integrated DVD/CD receiver. The
amplifier processes audio signals from HDTV broadcasts, DVD, SACD, or other
digital sources, and amplifies them entirely in the digital domain. This design
is highly efficient, producing minimal heat, while taking up 1/4
of the space of conventional amplifiers. The amplifier has the following power
38 watts per
channel (150 to 20,000 Hz, 4 ohms, 0.7% THD)
80 watts per channel (1 kHz, 4 ohms, 10% THD)
38 watts per channel (25 to 150 Hz, 4 ohms, 0.7% THD)
80 watts per channel (100 Hz, 4 ohms, 10% THD)
S-FORCE Pro Front
Surround Technology: The DAV-X10 system produces a 3D surround sound field by
using advanced signal processing and sound wave phasing. This is accomplished
with only two speakers and a passive subwoofer. You can select between a Music
or Movie mode.
This receiver decodes the following surround modes into 2.1 channel surround to bring you maximum
enjoyment from your audio and video software:
- Dolby Digital
- Dolby Pro Logic II
2-Channel Stereo: In addition
to the surround modes, you can select the 2-Channel Stereo mode.
Standard stereo sources completely bypass the sound field processing.
Multi-channel surround formats are downmixed to two channels.
Bass and Treble: The system's
Bass and Treble settings can be adjusted independently from -6 to +6dB in 0.5 dB
Portable Audio Enhancer: This
sound mode produces a clear enhanced sound image from your connected portable
audio device. This mode is ideal for MP3 or other compressed music formats.
Night Mode/Audio DRC: The Night
Mode lets you enjoy sound effects or dialogue as you would in a movie theater,
even at low volume. Audio DRC
(Dynamic Range Compression) feature is useful for watching movies late at night
by letting you narrow the dynamic range of the sound track. You can select DRC
Standard, DRC Max, or DRC Off. Audio DRC applies only to Dolby Digital-encoded
Digital Cinema Auto Calibration:
The Sony DAV-X10 comes supplied with a
setup microphone that plugs into the back of the integrated DVD/CD receiver.
Sony's Digital Signal Processing uses feedback between the supplied setup
microphone and receiver to optimize sound settings. By simply placing the
supplied setup microphone in your listening position and pushing a single button
on the remote control, speaker position, distance to speaker and delays are
automatically calibrated. The microphone features a 16' cord for position
flexibility and a threaded hole on the bottom of the microphone's base for
mounting it to a tripod.
A/V Sync (Lip Sync): When the sound does
not match the pictures on the screen, you can adjust the delay between the
picture and sound.
Playback: This system can play the following discs - DVD Video, DVD-R/RW,
DVD+R/RW/+R DL, SACD, Audio CD, Video CD, and CD-R/CD-RW.
Super Audio CD:
The DAV-X10 is equipped with a DSD (Direct Stream Digital) decoder to enable
SACD playback. DSD encodes music at 2,822,400 samples per second, allowing you
to hear sound with incredible detail and clarity. Many Super Audio CDs have
multi-channel and 2-channel SACD playback layers as well as a conventional CD
playback layer. In the Stop mode, you can select which layer of the disc you
wish to play.
unit does not support the multi-channel playback area of an SACD.
MP3 Playback: This unit will
play MP3 files recorded onto DATA CD, CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW,

stopped. The stopping point is cleared from memory if you remove the disc,
change the play mode, change the setting on the Setup Menu, or press the Stop
button a second time.
Multi-Disc Resume Play: For DVD
Video and Video CD only, the DAV-X10 system can store the point where you stopped
the disc for up to 40 discs, and resume playback the next time you insert the
disc. If you store the resume playback point for a 41st disc, the resume point
is deleted for the first disc. The Multi-Disc Resume feature can be turned
on/off in the menu.
Program Play: You can play the
contents of a Video CD, SACD, or Audio CD disc in the order you want by
arranging the order of the tracks on the disc to create your own program. You
can program up to 99 tracks.
