Natural, detailed sound
Sony's XS-GS1720 6-1/2"/6-3/4" speakers feature incredibly lightweight, mica-reinforced woofers that are both airy and stiff, so they can produce big sound without warping or distorting. A supple rubber surround supports the woofer, helping to keep it centered during heavy excursion so you enjoy full bass. The high-energy magnet and nimble motor structure drive the cone with precision so the vocals and instruments sound natural.
Vibrant highs from the 1" aluminum dome tweeter mean you'll hear expressive vocals and cymbal work, plus you can adjust the tweeter angle for the best high-frequency coverage in your vehicle. Built-in crossovers keep your highs in flawless balance with your mids and lows, and even let you power the tweeters and woofers separately for enhanced performance and efficiency. You can angle the tweeters towards your ears so you'll catch every satisfying detail.

Why replace your car's original speakers?
The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Woofer Cones: The XS-GS1720 woofers use an MRC cone (Mica Reinforced Cellular glass fiber composite) to reduce weight and increase rigidity, delivering full bass response.
Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a rubber surround.
Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 1" aluminum dome tweeter for outstanding dispersion and clarity. The tweeters are angled so you can direct them toward the listening positions.
Bi-amp Inputs: The 2-way crossover has separate inputs for the woofer and tweeter; this lets you drive the speaker system with dedicated power for the separate speaker elements, instead of sharing power. Out of the box there are jumper wires shorting the tweeter and woofer inputs; the jumper wires must be removed to bi-amp the speakers.
Crossovers: The woofers and tweeters have independent crossovers, 6 dB/octave low-pass and 12 dB/octave high-pass. The crossover frequency is 5 kHz.
Mounting: The speakers can be mounted in a variety of 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications.
Specification Note: Sony's rated power spec for the XS-GS1720 is 75 watts (derived using IEC 60268-5 standards). They also list the CEA 2031 compliant RMS power as 110 watts. We've adopted the 75 watt rating simply because it's the more conservative figure.
