Better sound thanks to better materials

The XS-GT5738F 5"x7"/6"x8" speakers feature woofer cones made from Highly Oriented Polyolefine, a lightweight material developed by Sony that's especially rigid and strong. Sony reinforces these cones with the same Aramid fibers that are used in bulletproof vests, so they'll stand up to high-volume playback. Each 3-way speaker features a 1-7/16" balanced dome tweeter and a 7/16" supertweeter that reproduce lively highs, adding in the details that make the instruments and vocals sound true. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Product Research

Features

Woofers: The woofers are made of Highly Oriented Polyolefine reinforced with an aramid and carbon fiber matrix (HOP+ACFM), which is much stronger than regular polypropylene. Use of this material results in less distortion and better, quicker bass response.

Treated Cloth Surrounds: Each woofer uses a treated cloth surround for added reliability and efficiency.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1-7/16" balanced dome tweeter and 7/16" dome super tweeter. Both tweeters are made of PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide), a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
when you turn the volume up on these speakers does the bass make the vocals scratchy? or is the bass nice and clear? when I turn up the volume on my speakers the bass makes the vocals of the song sound rough and not very good at all. Do these speakers have good bass and good vocals at the same time?

I have no complaints about these speakers. Both the bass and vocals are clear and crisp. Depending upon the song and volume level you can actually here the singers echo in the song. Good example is the theme song to You Only Live Twice, she has a slight echo to the lyrics and these speakers pick it up. Bass is very good especially with the song track from Tron Legacy.

I installed these in my wife's 2012 Mazda 5. I left the OEM head unit (everything else is factory except the speakers). I have tried multiple genres of music at all different volumes and have not been able max these speakers out.

I don't know how much I can help since I don't have the vehicle I bought these for anymore. However, I don't remember the vocals getting scratchy when the bass is turned up. Hope this helps.
