Style and substance

You take pride in your car, and you want your new car stereo to look good in the dash. Sony's CDX-GT575UP CD receiver offers sharp styling and user-friendly controls, and you can choose from over 35,000 color choices for the display and button illumination to create the right look for your vehicle. And this receiver has the sonic punch to match its good looks.

Sony CDX-GT575UP

Crank it up and enjoy the ride

Sony built the CDX-GT575UP around the Digital Reality amp, a unique design delivers surprising power combined with an accurate, deep soundstage so music sounds more natural inside your vehicle. If you're a tweaker, Sony includes a 7-band equalizer, digital time correction for sharp and precise stereo imaging, and DM+, which improves the sound of your compressed music. You can also activate the Rear Bass Enhancer which sends only low frequencies to your rear speakers, improving your bass and pulling the soundstage forward.

Subwoofer Direct Connection lets you combine the output of the receiver's two rear channels to drive a small subwoofer. That's great way to add some extra bass kick to your ride, perfect for small compacts or truck cabs, where space for an amp may be limited.

Your music on tap

The CDX-GT575UP comes equipped with front-panel auxiliary and USB inputs, along with a CD player that features MP3 and WMA playback. You can also plug in your iPod® or iPhone® to the USB port and browse your playlists from the receiver. Nifty search tools like Quick Browzer and ZAPPIN let you scan and find music quickly and easily. Plug in your iPhone, and you'll be able to access your Pandora® Internet radio stations and rate songs with the receiver's controls. You can also add SiriusXM's compact tuner, and experience the impressive programming and coast-to-coast reception that makes satellite radio so popular.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Overall the reciever does all I need it to do.

Bought this stereo to replace a previous Sony stereo (about 7-8 years old). I was hoping that this stereo used the same connector so that it would just be a "plug and play". No luck, the connector was the same but about 10-20% smaller. So I re-used the previously supplied (Crutchfield-Jeep) adapter to solder to the new connector. I was also able to reuse the face plate adapter (Crutchfield) to fill the gaps between the radio and dash. Instructions were simple and straightforward. No problems and stereo has been working great.

Pros: Lots of function and control. More sensitive to distant radio stations than my previous stereo. Controlling a first generation IPOD from this stereo is convenient.

Cons: More function and control means the faceplate is more complex but the basics are pretty easy to get used to (intuitive).

Bought this head unit to replace the hideous contraption installed by the previous owner of my new-to-me Land Cruiser. Overall, it's a decent unit. Programming sucks, and the iPod functionality is marginal (no pause?) but the sound is good and installation was pretty straightforward. I tend to use the AUX input with the phone/iPod and simply use the controls on the device rather than going thru the head unit. As usual, Crutchfield's website, delivery and overall experience means I will continue to be a Crutchfield customer.

Pros: Nice sound, ease of installation, good features.

    Cons: minimal iPod controls, programming

    Tragically useless

Sis got this for me a year ago. Used it to connect to iphone via usb. Worked only moderately well. The programming will have it start playing your albums in alphabetical order after it runs out of things to play, which gets incredibly obnoxious hearing the same song at the end of every single one of your playlists. Playback often skips and pauses because data transfer method is unreliable. Got tired of iphone updates making my phone slower and more useless so I switched my iphone out with a galaxy s5 and switched itunes out with musicbee. Unfortunately this radio is only compatible with iPhones via USB. I tried a usb stick, that was also not supported. So now I get no music. the aux cable that came with the radio stinks too. What a wasted product for me this was. Also, didn't hold properly in my car, I had to build a better housing for it in my home workshop.

Pros: it's better than my original 1996 ford taurus audio system because at least it has aux. Colorful lights.

Cons: read my review. Not compatible with android phones, which is heavily the fault of android programmers changing data transfer protocol. All in all, a huge disappointment. Get with the times, use Bluetooth and voice recognition software like google's or Siri so you can keep your eyes on the road and not risk your life trying to deal with this old junk.

Fantastic Sound Quality and Seemingly Very Well built, The Adjustable colors turn heads everywhere I go and by far one of the Best "Bang for your Buck" Head units I've come across. Loaded with tons of Cool features although it is a little confusing to Program because of all the Features. Would recommend keeping the User Manuel so you can figure out what all the Features mean and what they do.

Pros: Great Price, Very good looking, A lot of Features and Customization available

This is a very nice after market CD player. I have an older vehicle and the kit that Crutchfield put together for me worked out flawlessly. The CD player itself works well with USB thumb drives and my directly with my Ipod. It has a large number of features for customization. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a feature packed unit at a very reasonable price. The only downside is there are so many features it can be cumbersome to learn at first. Not really a bad thing, I suppose...

Pros: Tons of features including color and sound customization and just about any input type that a person could possibly need and then some.

Cons: The large number of customizable features makes operating it difficult at first. It's not bad once you figure it out, but definitely don't toss the manual until you have read it and can make everything work the way you want it to.

I didn't want to write a negative review but after the installation I still haven't been able to get it dialed in. The way the instructions are written is kind of confusing and I have read them several times including the wiring diagrams. For some reason 90% of the sound only comes from the right channel, front and rear. I think this weekend I'm going to rip it out and start over, but I don't think I'm going to be very optimistic about it.

Pros: The display and color options are pretty cool. The jury is still out on functionality.

Cons: Programming this thing is terrible. Seriously I'm not opposed to having another knob if it means adjustments will be easier.

    • Ease of Use

First off, my car is a 1992 Bonneville, and had 1.5 din size only... so that ruled out all double din decks. So I needed a simple but "feature-enough" radio to satisfy my needs. This Sony does it. What sold me the most is it's 7 band EQ. And yes, I must have my audio equalized in life, whether it's home or car. The graphic equalizer on the Sony is better than all those "parametric" ones found in JVCs and Kenwoods and Pioneers. And sometimes only the higher-end expensive decks have 5 or 10 band graphic EQs, and so forth. The second thing that sold me was the color customization. Again, most other decks that are high end and expensive only have the color customization. Way to go Sony! This was the cheapest Radio (for $89) to come with color customization. My Bonneville's interior lights up orangey red... and the Sony's custom colors totally matched it. I am running 6" Rockford Fosgate component speakers on front doors and rear deck (straight off radio power); and I'm running two 10" MTX subs in the trunk (separate amp). The system sounds amazing. The Sony has enough audio adjustments to perfectly tune the speakers and the subs. All my friends compliment on the clean, tight, "studio" sounding performance of my Sony and all components. The Sony CDX-GT575UP is not a fancy touch screen, GPS, dvd player kind of radio. But IT IS a perfect performer, and perfect solution, for sweet amazing listening of music... The best most affordable factory upgrade for any car. Period.

Pros: -7 Band Graphic Equalizer -Color Customization to match any car -Plenty of audio adjustments= HPF, Speaker Alignment, Aux Level Adj -Plenty of Subwoofer adjustments= LPF, Slopes, Sub Alignment -Simple interface

Cons: It does not accept voice commands =/ lol

Pros: Easy to install, looks great, works great.

Overall I'm satisfied with this stereo. It was easy to install once I purchased the adapter wiring harness. It was basically "plug and play". It just wasn't clear to me that I had to buy a wiring harness when I originally bought the stereo due to my stock JBl system already in my truck. It's just like any new device, you have to spend some time with it and you will get used to using it. It looks and sounds great in my truck!

Pros: Easy to install, looks cool, remote control

Cons: Directions were not very good for installation, pandora function controlled through the stereo

This radio was easy to install and sounds great in my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer. The sound quality is much better than I expeced and the equalizer has many settings to either use a set setting or custom settings. It seems a bit confusing to set up at first but then after a quick learning curve, it is easy.

Pros: Sounds great, price and easy to install

Cons: Although it is Sirius/XM ready, you still have to buy a receiver to get the Sirius/XM stations which means I would have to remove it and install it again. Not willing to do that.

Very nice stereo. This is the second Sony car stereo I've bought through Crutchfield. You will need the manual to get it set up properly. I used this one to replace a factory original stereo (that had all but died) in my wife's Chrysler Town and Country. The sound is great and my wife loves it.

Pros: Well made. Nice display. USB port on the front is really handy.

Cons: For older eyes, the print on the front is hard to read easily and without the manual, you probably won't make full use of all of its features.

Alright I'm into big bass and low frequencies this radio did kick with my stock system but the second I put my two Rockford Fosgate P2's in the mix it would clip and shut off, I managed to fix a way around it in the EQ but this was only a temporary fix because now I'm have the clipping problem more often. So all in all nice deck of stock speakers not for a subwoofer set up.

been years since I have replaced a factory stereo and I was amazed at how much better the technology has become and for much less the cost. String receiver and both USB and AUX front inputs make hooking up any iPod or iPhone a cinch. controlling your mobile device from the display is a little tricky at first but once you figure out how to o it its not that hard. Overall very please with the quality, sound, and most of all cost of this stereo. And as always Crutchfield Tech Support was very helpful answering the one stupid question I always have.

Pros: easy install, customizable, front USB/AUX inputs, strong FM receiver

Cons: tricky navigation of mobile device from head unit

I previously owned the Clarion 4" CD deck and the FM sensitivity was horrible. The screen was invisible during daylight hours. The new Sony is amazing! You can change the color of the display and it even self-adjusts for nighttime driving. I really enjoy the radio as the FM Sensitivity is wonderful as I live out in the sticks.

Pros: Variable color display ease of operations and great FM sensitivity

Cons: Annoying beeping after you shut down the car, but outside of that...not a thing.

This radio does more than you'll ever need. There are so many settings, you'll never use them all. A very good and cool looking unit for the money. I'm a 20 year removed audiophile and with the Crutchfield pieces that come with the purchase, this was a very quick, no fuss/no muss installation.

Pros: Endless settings, endless color options to match your vehicle, USB port doubles as a charger (very nice)

Cons: Endless settings, dial button too easily depresses to the settings options when you simply want to adjust the volume (minor quirk)

Purchased this Sony to replace a double din OEM AM/FM/Cassette radio in a low mileage 1988 completely stock Supra. Was thinking about a blue tooth capable stereo but decided against it since I didn't want to run mic wires up and around... I say "Basic" since this was a low-end (under $100) stereo. I say "Plus" because it has a CD, USB port, Aux port, Serius, Pandora, remote, etc. That's about 10 x the features of the OEM stereo. Set the colors to match the existing instruments. Installed the storage pocket underneath for the iPone and all is good in my Supra. Replaced the dried out original speakers. Original speakers are 4" in front, 5" in back. Replace them with like. No Sub (although this stereo has the outputs for it). Sound is fine from this stereo although limited by the speakers.

Pros: Easy install, lots of usable features, sound is fine.

    Cons: None

I bought this for my wife and she likes it because it's way better than the stock stereo in her car. She likes that she can connect her ipod in to the receiver and change the songs right from the unit itself without having to locate the ipod from the console. The receiver all comes with a very functional remote control which allows our kids to change the stations from the back seat when we travel as a family and saves us fro the hassle of having to do it for them every three minutes when they're tired of the songs that's currently playing on the radio. This is a good stereo and for the very inexpensive price, we hit the jackpot. We Love It!

Pros: beautiful looking, has all the things I need to connect personal devices easily

Cons: Buttons are labeled with small print and it has too many choices with few buttons so it's hard to change sound preferences unless you're an audiophile.

This is a pretty cool deck. I really like the sound quality, and the features. It is fairly easy to navigate thru the features and menu; if the booklet is handy to translate the abbreviations. The multiple color options make it very customizable for any interior. I really like the sony decks and have always come back to them. Overall this is a great amateur deck or a good pro deck for the experienced audiophile.

Pros: Custom options for look and sound, pandora and sirius ready. Power output, direct sub hookup, front usb and aux jack output.

Cons: Menu names are abbreviated and that makes adjustment harder. really Need the booklet to figure it all out. Usb does not charge my droid x2 very well.

I replaced the factory radio in my Dodge 1500 pick-up with this Sony (CDX-GT575UP). I couldn't be more pleased, still using factory speakers and can't believe how nice and rich the sound is, This is my first ever purchase from Crutchfield, and the customer service was great with my order, and shipping was fast... The installation went without any problems and was installed in a little over an hour. I was quoted a price of $486.00 at a local sound shop for a lesser unit & install. I have a nicer unit and a total investment of $130.00 and 1 hour of my time. I'm very pleased with Crutchfield and my radio...

Pros: Cool factor is great. Ease of navigating controls. Ease of installation.

Cons: Have not found anything negative about this unit...

I have not used Pandora to listen to music using the sony [ MICHAEL J  Apr 27, 2015 ]
I have found the sound equilivilent through all sources. I have this unit in a Motorhome and in my Jeep. I don't have an amp or the best speaker system but, sound is good compared to factory units with many more options. I have noticed that volume must be raised when using Pandora or Sirius. For the price. Happy with it. [ DANIEL J  Apr 26, 2015 ]
It works like a gem, no problem connecting Just have good speakers too.. [ TIMOTHY  Apr 26, 2015 ]
Yes it can but the one I have keeps messing up [ JOSHUA  Apr 16, 2015 ]
Simply put, yes. There is a button near the bottom right corner (next to the #6 preset button) that is labelled "Disp". This lets you choose what you want to display while it is playing music. It can cycle through station info, displaying time only, song names, etc. [ AUSTIN  Apr 13, 2015 ]
Yes. You will have to mess with the display settings to make it work but the instructions are easy to read and navigate. If you do listen to the radio or plug in an iPod in the USB port the display will still show the song and then revert back to the time if that is what you choose as the default. For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Krissy  Aug 28, 2014 ]  Staff
yes, since pandora is an internet based radio streaming service the device that is streaming Pandora over the head unit will have to have a stable internet connection or data connection. [ DALTON  Aug 11, 2014 ]
Yes. The unit doesn't have Pandora built in; you use a separate device, such as a smartphone, to access pandora. You use the CDX only to upvote/downvote songs, skip songs, and to go through different stations that you have already. [ KENT L  Aug 11, 2014 ]
Yes it does. It uses the Pandora off your phone but instead of controlling it with ur phone you will be able to control the stations with the radio. [ ANDY  Aug 11, 2014 ]

Ouestion: when playing the cd on the Sony auto player...how can I lower the "clicking" sound after I go to another song? [ William  Aug 01, 2014 ]
Absolutely. It charges my ipod 4th generation, my iphone 4s, and my daughters android phone. [ ZACH  Jul 14, 2014 ]
Simply put, yes. This will charge your iPhone. I no longer have an iPhone, but it even charges my Galaxy. It will not play music through my new phone, I have to use the aux cable, BUT for iPhone everything works great! I've had this head unit installed for over a year now and have no complaints at all, and I am very picky with my audio... Hope that helps! [ AUSTIN  Jul 13, 2014 ]
    I am not a apple user. Sorry [ ERIC  Jul 13, 2014 ]
Rob, Yes, this unit will charge the iPhone. I currently still have a 4s but have had friends be able to charge the 5 also. It's not a fast charge but it will keep your phone from going dead. Hope that helps! [ AARON  Jul 13, 2014 ]
I use an iPod Classic with mine, and it does charge it. I assume it would be the same for the iPhone. [ SCOTT  Jul 12, 2014 ]
