The Sony Xplod CDX-GT62IPW CD receiver includes an iPod® connection cable and powerful search features for using an iPod in your car. The Quick BrowZer feature allows you to search by genre, artist, or album, so you can find your favorite tracks with ease.

If you want to leave your iPod at home, you've still got lots of options. The receiver plays MP3, WMA, and AAC files on disc, along with your prerecorded CDs, and you'll find a front-panel auxiliary input that'll accommodate a plug-and-play satellite radio or other audio sources. The 24-bit digital-to-analog converter ensures that you'll hear all the fine details in your favorite tunes.

Sony's EQ3 Stage 2 equalizer includes a 3-band equalizer for customized sound, with seven preset tone curves available for quick adjustments on the fly. And the Dynamic Soundstage Organizer feature uses subtle processing to raise the soundstage higher, so that the music from poorly placed door speakers sounds like it's coming from your dash.

The CDX-GT62IPW makes a sharp-looking addition to your dash, with selectable red or blue button illumination and a scrolling display that makes it easy to read long album and song titles. For safe, easy control, you get a user-friendly wireless remote.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

    Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This receiver definitely does the job and does it well... I installed into a 2004 Corolla and the process was smooth as silk as is usually the case with Crutchfield instructions in hand.

I mainly use it for aux input for my mp3 player. I haven't tried the ipod function, but the cable is sitting there in my glove box. Would've been nice if this cable was detachable.

    Very Happy With This Receiver

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this about three weeks ago. I also purchased the "Expert Install" option -- installation was fast (took about 30 minutes), friendly, and near as I can tell, flawless. Well worth the extra cost, IMO.

This unit replaced my factory stereo, and I'm still using the factory speakers. Still, the improvement in sound quality is impressive. I got this unit mainly for the iPod connectivity, and I'm real pleased with this. Easy enough to scroll through and select albums, artists or playlists.

A lot of reviews here complain about the brightness of the unit, but I don't find this to be a problem. The face has two brightness levels (Crutchfield told me there were seven brightness levels, but this is wrong - there are seven *contrast* levels), but even on the bright setting I don't find it objectionably or distractingly bright. The auto dim function doesn't seem to work with my unit but maybe this is because I don't have auto-on headlights?

My only negative comment is that the face is easily scratched, so if you are going to remove the face when you leave the car, don't put it your pocket or briefcase along with a cellphone or iPod.

All in all, it was a great experience with Crutchfield.

Just replaced the factory radio in my 94' BMW 318I. At first I thought was sorry going to be sorry to loose the 6 disc trunk mounted cd changer that was factory installed. After installing this new Sony unit with iPod control I forgot all about it. The controls are great and it fit perfectly into the dash. The easiest install I ever did. The BMW specific cables that came with the unit made the installation seamless.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to replace an 8 year old stereo. I gained the ability to play MP3 CD's, iPod connectivity and a better tuner along with a remote. I did a lot of research among the other brands and kept coming back to this one. Set-up can be a little tricky but once you get the basic Sony philosophy you can configure the various XPLOD and EQ and tone options. The one objectionable point is one that I found with other similar Sony car stereos (my daughter had an older model) : the flip down faceplate is HORRIBLE!!! I figured that now that I'm older, wiser and more patient that I could deal with:
attach faceplate (falls off) - attach faceplate again (falls off) - attach again (CD is ejected, face plate falls off). !!!UNPRINTABLE!!! - attach and finally stays on... seriously consider welding the faceplate to the great sounding music from CD's, tuner or iPOD, bringing back the mellow in my morning...

Bottom line: a great unit - but weld the faceplate on. LOL!!!

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my daughter's S10 Blazer. I woke up at 5 am on Christmas morning hoping that I could install the gift before my daughter woke up. Because of the installation instructions and installation kit provided I was able to complete the job is less than 2 hours without waking any one else up. You have a great package. Keep up the great work.

As far as the Sony, my daughter is thrilled. It has all of the features needed and is easy to use. "It's cool and really looks good".

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this deck because I wanted to integrate an iPod I had just bought into my '03 4Runner. I had to buy the adapter to integrate the system with my JBL Audio, but I knew that. Problem is, there wasn't a clear indicator on Crutchfield's website or the packaging that this didn't support the newest iPods, which are very prevalent. Oh well. I had a 2G Nano that was collecting dust, and an 80GB 4G Classic, but I was disappointed my newest swag didn't work with my newest swag! Great deck, though. Pushes past my JBL systems limits... Might have to upgrade my sub...

I ordered this for a Christmas gift. It came with the Crutchfield installation kit. Putting it is was a breeze. The radio is excellent. Tony, my service rep was very helpful. It's great to know a company still values customer service the way Crutchfield does. I've ordered from Crutchfield before but after the CEO (Bill) put out an e-mail explaining Crutchfields' plan for handling the economic problems I was impressed. I'm all about the working man and Bill stated that no would be laid off. I hope business was good enough that's still the case. Thanks again Tony and Crutchfield for helping make my familys' Christmas great!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this head unit for my wife's 2006 Sonata. The included installation instructions and equipment made removal of the old radio and installation of the new one a snap. The unit puts out a great sound and looks good. The adjustable colors (red or blue) for the display really make a difference.

This particular radio has one major caveat. The remote plug in the back is configured for Sony's own steering wheel remote. There are metal posts surrounding it that will not let you connect anything else.

If you plan on using a PAC-SWI adapter to keep your factory steering wheel controls, DO NOT GET THIS HEAD UNIT.

    2001 Jeep Wrangler
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted good quality sound, decent power AND ipod connectivity all for a relatively low price. With the Sony CDX-GT620IP I got more than I could
have asked for! This unit really sounds fantastic using the stock speakers. It is a significant improvement over the factory system. Have I mentioned that ipod control and connectivity is included? You simply cannot find this level of functionality at this price. Sony's ipod search and control features work really well. This unit is definitely one of the best bang for the buck deals out there.

Much has been said about the blue LED around the main control knob. It is true, it is ALWAYS blue. This seems like a silly oversight by Sony, but I can live with it. The brightness of that blue knob IS on the bright side and accounts for part of the rating deduction.

Audio CDs do skip very easily, but only until the system gets a chance to buffer up the audio data. Once the shock buffer gets filled, the skipping is
    drastically reduced.

To me, these two minor negatives are far outweighed by the quality and value of the entire system and I'm very happy with my purchase.

What more can you say about Crutchfield? It was shipped fast, the included install kit worked perfectly, instructions were very clear and when I had a question about wiring my optional OEM subwoofer, the tech responded to my email quickly.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to buy my daughter a new car stereo for her old Volvo. It had the Bose premium sound system, but it was outdated and would not play
recorded CD's, MP3's or allow a hookup to her iPod. I looked locally first as I have never installed a car stereo before and was reticent to give it a go. I also searched online. I eventually called Crutchfield and spoke with Morgan. He was awesome and spent a lot of time explaining how easy it would be for me to install a receiver. After considering a lot of different ones, I chose this Sony. My daughter opened the gift on Christmas and I instatlled it on the 27th since we had some unseasonably warm weather. I had to make one call to Crutchfield regarding a wiring question and Russ was very helpful and efficient. In less than 2 hours, I had done the installation, programmed it, tested it with CD's, iPods and the radio. The sound is very good and the interface to the iPod is pretty slick. Reception is good and the ability to shape sound is good. I think the DSO option is only fair as it emphasizes the treble too much for my tastes, but the other EQ options provided a very good balance.

Overall, I could not be happier with the deck, but I am most pleased with the level of service that Crutchfield provides. Some of the best customer
service I have found anywhere online or bricks & mortar.

    Keep up the great work!

I got this stereo for my wife for christmas and let me tell you, she loves it.
I will tell you however, that if you are not very mechanically inclined you
better leave this one with the pro's. I spent about a half hour trying to
figure out which wiring harness went to what. When i finally figured out
that i didn't need half the stuff that was sent, i went to work. I didn't have
all the right tools required, but with a little luck i was able to connect
everything correctly. I turned that baby on and it roared to life. The sound
quality was amazing compared to the factory model in my Ford F-150. I
was also very pleased with the mounting kit. It fit snug as a pair of fine
leather gloves. Well worth the money, thanks Crutchfield....

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I agonized over different selections to replace an Alpine CDE-9872, which I bought locally, which sounded great, but the ipod control was horrendous
(pressing and holding the up/down to find songs didn't work, you had to press repeatedly). This isn't much better. The Hands-on Research states that there is a 10% "Jump" function to sort through lists on the iPod. It's just not there. I've searched the manual, and pressed everything I can think of on the unit. Nothing doing. If you have 1900 songs, and about 600 artists, picture scrolling the knob until you hit M. It's good that you can scroll backwards from A to get to T, but still... painful.
The remote has no button to bring up the search, a woeful oversight in my opinion. So handing the remote to your kid so that he can find his songs from the backseat is useless.
DSO = Dookie Sound Option to my setup.
I suppose if you have terrible speakers mounted low it might help, but if you have components with a tweeter, ugh. Piercing. There's a reason it's turned off by default for radio - just accentuates the FM static.
Pros: Sounds pretty clean once you dial it in, doesn't distort midway like some units.

I just finished installing my new Sony in a 1988 Toyota Celica ST coupe. All I can say is WOW ! This unit makes the 20 year old factory speakers sound good ! I cant wait to choose my new speakers this week. The installation instructions were easy to follow, and a call to Crutchfield about a minor issue was resolved quickly and late at night ! I highly recommend this receiver and Crutchfield for all of your electronics purchases. The lifetime support cannot be beat ! Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this in my '93 Bravada Friday night. It was a piece of cake, thanks to the included install goodies and instructions from Crutchfield - and the sound is light years better than the factory cassette deck.

It's really nice having the dedicated iPod connection and the front AUX input. I can use either my iPod or Sirius plug'n'play without having to switch any wires, and can control the iPod from the headunit.

My only complaint is the idiotic faceplate alarm from Sony. They want you to remove the faceplate when you turn off the car, but don't even bother to give you a faceplate box/bag/something. And the alarm is annoying, but not overly so.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Judging by my experience from my last car receiver, this thing works like a dream. The installation instructions were very detailed and clear, explaining specifically which wires performed which actions.

    > Cheap price
    > Front and Rear AUX input
    > Highly contrasted display
    > Popular and trusted brand

    > iPod connectivity is imposed [when cycling menu, iPod interface beeps multiple times]
    > Slightly difficult to reattach when faceplate is removed.
    > Dimmer does not work as expected

Despite the cons, this is a great product that I would definitely recommend for anyone looking to purchase a decent car receiver that will exceed expectations.

I would highly recommend this Sony receiver!! I was on a very tight budget and did not want to spend a lot of money. I installed this receiver in my wifes 1999 Honda Accord along with some Alpine 6x9's. The total cost for the entire system was less than $200. This Sony receiver has loads of features and excellent quality. The sound is fantastic and the price can not be beat. Some minor down sides are the preset buttons are small and the illumination around the volume control is a little bright at night and can not be adjusted. I have never installed a system before, but the Crutchfield supplied master sheet instuctions were so easy to follow that the total install time took me less than 2 hours. Love this receiver -- it really sounds great. The DSO and EQ options allow you dial-in the sound nicely. The power is very good - no need for a separate amp. The wireless remote is a nice touch and very handy as well. I had previously upgraded to Infinity and Kenwood speakers (from Crutchfield, of course) and with the new Sony I have an amazing sounding system at an affordable price.

BTW -- Crutchfield customer service is the best! I had a minor issue with the harness connections (due to my vehicle and not the Sony) and the guys at Crutchfield had the resolution for me instantly - on a Sunday evening no less!

Great radio - but the blue buttons are way too bright for night driving.

The radio lets you change those to red - which is fine - but the blue ring around the volume button stays bright blue.
Also - when the display is reduced in brightness when you turn on your lights - the blue DOES NOT! - ridiculous

The Blue is nice during daylight - but at night it is dangerously bright!!
    - I covered it with a large O-ring.

I got his unit at close-out pricing, and it is more feature-rich than anything else I've seen at this price point. Although I've owned a number of Sony units, I still had to read the manual to get the unit working the way I like.

Pros: Plenty of easy EQ options available when your sound source changes. Powerful, excellent display day & night, display always tells you where you are at on a CD, tuner, or iPod.

Cons: iPod searching requires that you go back to the beginning of your playlists whenever you search for a new song. The unit comes with DSO engaged, and I had a heck of a time figuring out why I hated the sound for several hours. Again, read the manual!! Unit won't "find" my iTouch.

would definitely buy another fact I did, for my daughter's car.

    1998 Ford F-150
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit mainly for the Aux input that I use with my MP3 player to
listen to audio books. I was looking for an inexpensive stereo that would
be easy to install and operate.

As expected very easy to install, although the directions were a bit
confusing. Once sorted out though it was pretty straight forward. I don't
recommend it for someone who cannot solder or handle a screw driver or is
just not "handy" with tools in general.

Unlike other reviewers, I don't see the issue with it being too bright.
Although if you leave the color blue, it's a bit brighter than the red which I
switched too. Not sure if they read the instruction to know you could do
that - one of those not so easy to find items.

To be honest, I cannot even comment on the CD player. I don't listen to
CDs very often - I'm more of a radio guy, so you'll need to check other
    review for that feedback .

I do love the remote though. Who would have thought you'd use a remote
when you can reach and operate the radio without too much trouble. Once
you get used to the buttons and can operate it without having to look, it's
a real nice thing to have.

Overall great sounding unit, easy to operate, nice equalizer and other
sound enhancing options. Great buy for the price and Crutchfield delivered
quickly with no problems what so ever. I will be coming back.

On and the AUX input is just what I needed. I can listen to my books with
    no hassles.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All in all this is a great radio. My main reason for buying this one was low price, and ipod + font aux in without the need for any special adapters.

The radio works as described, with one exception. The ipod cable WILL NOT CHARGE Iphone 3g's and the 2nd gen ipod touch (ipod touch with speaker).

You still retain all the normal features when connected to the ipod, but receive an error on the ipod that it is unable to charge with this device. The reason is that Apple moved the charging pin on the dock connector to another location. No real solutions found yet.

    Great Unit for the Price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been waiting for quite some time to put a new headunit into my car. I had replaced speakers earlier in the summer due to the failure of the factory speakers (16 years old). This headunit really made a difference in how good the speakers sounded!

Overall, this is a great unit, as far as I'm concerned. It's got loads of features (all the outputs on the back, the controllable sub output, front AUX IN, included iPod cable, remote control).

PROS: great sound, CD Text, simple user interface, controllable sub output, front AUX IN, included iPod cable, remote control, ATT mode, strong tuner, etc.

CONS: the blue light around the rotary knob can be a bit bright at night, a few settings are hard to find

Overall, I'm loving this headunit and would highly recommend it for the price.

    Great Stereo, Great Price

I purchased this stereo to replace and older Kenwood model that I had my Ipod hooked into. I wanted my new stereo to have Ipod controls built in. This stereo is awesome, great sound, easy controls. After I installed it I plugged in my Ipod and it worked flawlessly. I did not even have to use the Sony instruction manual to figure out how to use my new stereo, it was soooooo simple. I would have paid even more for this stereo, but Crutchfield always gives you the best products and prices.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The integrated Ipod 30pin connector and front aux inputs are great
The display is big and clear
The user interface is concise and fairly easy to navigate.
    CD playback is very good
Ipod connection yields good playback and charges the ipod.

The only downsides, which are all minor.
-Ipod cable is hardwired on the back, and would make installation easier if it was detachable
-All Aux two channel output/Sub output could be confusing for some people
-The remote is kind of unnecessary, I would have rather paid $10 less.
-The Interface is concise, but limited. You have to hold down the select button (knob) for 4 or 5 seconds to get into the menu, and it's not all that detailed with great options, but it is a budget head unit.

All in all, for the money, this has all the features a normal person will want, plus some.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This HU is awesome. I installed it into a 92 Camry and had to do some fabrication to make it fit, which I was expecting due to the cars age. the sound that comes out of the factory speakers with this thing is amazing, bottoming them out at 20 on loud. The display is beautiful and the ability to change the buttons from blue to red sold me.

I can't wait to hear what this HU can do with some JL's and a sub!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this on wednesday and received it on saturday. installed in my '97 accord coupe. the installation instruction provided by Crutchfield was very helpful by showing every step. this unit has Ipod connector which is extremely helpful for me to charge my iphone as well as to listen to the music in it. Sound quality flat smokes the factory installed 6 cd change unit. As a matter of a fact, I regret that I ordered some speakers for this since it sounds very good even with the factory installed old speakers. This is one of the best investment I made in recent years.

    Thanks Crutchfield.

    2001 Ford Focus ZX3
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I did a lot of research and decided that this would be a great radio, especially for this price. I bought an iPod Nano 4th generation when they came out, and at the time no one bothered to mentioned that they changed the charging port on all new iPods. To make matters worse, Apple didn't train any of their own workers on the matter. I talked with three customer service people, online and at the store itself, and no one knew anything about it. After installing the radio, no communication at all with the iPod. After a lot of research online, it seems that most speakers, car and home, do not work with the new iPods. So if anyone is looking to get this for the new one, I would wait to see when anything else comes out. Plugging it into the AUX port is worthless, the sound quality is horrible and you can't get away from a static hiss sound in the background.

The radio itself isn't that bad. I plugged in my wife's 2nd gen iPod Nano and it worked great, decent sound quality, but could be better. However, even with the problems with the iPods, the single biggest problem, and one I can't get around, is the fact that you can't dim the lights on the buttons, especially the bright blue one around the control knob. Driving at night is very annoying, it is extremely bright, can't change colors, and can't be dimmed. Even in the daytime it is far too bright, so I'm not sure how that made it through quality control.

Ordered at 6PM received it the next day at 1230PM. How can you beat
that? Installed in my daughters Honda Civic with the free goodies that
Crutchfield includes. Looks like a pro did it and I'm no pro... My daughter is
crazy about the iPod controller that is built in. Also has a aux in for great
sound with a DVD player. For the price charged I would have payed $50
more and still would have been very happy...WHAT A GREAT DEAL:!!!! This
is the 5th headunit i have bought from them. Won't be the last...

    Crutchfield delivers...every time.

    External Device Controls

Drive S: The CDX-GT62IPW features the Drive S chassis platform. Drive S includes the CD mechanism, audio stages, 12 volt power supply, and tuner section. The CD mechanism includes a suspension to resist shocks, a motor that draws less power, and a fast low-current pickup that improves durability and CD playback accuracy. The 52W Peak x 4-channel S-MOSFET Power IC produces clearer, more accurate sound, less distortion, and a higher signal-to-noise ratio than previous designs.

Amplifier Section: The head-unit's amplifier is CEA-2006 compliant and rated at 17 watts RMS x 4 channels at 4 Ohms and 1% THD. The unit is also rated at 23.2 watts per channel minimum continuous average power into 4 ohms, 4 channels driven from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with no more than 5% THD. Peak power is rated at 52 watts per channel.

Disc Compatibility: The CD receiver will play CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RW discs. The headunit also supports CD Text.

Compressed Audio File Capability: The CD receiver will also play MP3, WMA, and AAC files stored on a CD-R or CD-RW. Below are the following requirements for MP3/WMA/AAC playback.

    • ISO: The unit is compatible with the ISO 9660 level 1 / level 2 format, Joliet/Romeo in the expansion format, and Multi Session.
    • The Maximum number of:
      • folders or albums is 150 including root and empty folders
      • MP3/WMA/AAC files or tracks and folders contained in a disc (300 if a folder/file names contain many characters, this number may become less than 300).
      • Displayable characters for a folder/file name is 32 (Joliet), or 64 (Romeo).
      • ID3 tag versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 apply to MP3 only. ID3 tag is 15/30 characters (1.0 and 1.1) or 63/126 characters (2.2, 2.3. and 2.4). WMA tag is 63 characters. AAC tag is 126 characters

Compressed Audio Display Information: The CD receiver's display can display the following information: Track number/Elapsed playing time, Disc/Artist Name, Album/Group Number, Album/Group Name, Track Name, Text Information and Clock.

Note: The Album/Group number is displayed only when the album/group is changed.

Quick-BrowZer: The unit's Quick-BrowZer feature allow you to search for a track on a CD or from your connected iPod easily by category (Artist, Album, Track, Genre or Playlist). Once you have selected the category, you can quickly search for the desired track by rotating the control dial.

Note: When entering the Quick-BrowZer mode, the repeat/shuffle setting is canceled.

Radio Tuning: The CDX-GT62IPW allows you to manual tune or seek tune AM/FM stations. In the Local Seek Mode, the unit will only tune in stations with very strong signals during Seek tuning. The Mono Mode allows you improve poor FM reception by selecting a monaural signal instead of a stereo signal. The radio features 5 memory bands to store and receive AM/FM stations. You can store up to 6 presets each in FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1 and AM2. Other tuner features include:

    • Best Tuning Memory (BTM): This feature selects stations with the best signals within the selected band and stores them in order of their frequency. You can select from FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, and AM2.
    • Manual Tuning: You can manually tune and find your favorite radio stations one by one for FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, and AM2.
    • Auto Tuning: You can use the seek button to help you search quickly through the available stations and then choose your own presets from these available stations.

EQ3 Stage 2: EQ3 Stage 2 offers 7 EQ presets, each of which has a preset value for 3 bands: Low (60Hz), Middle (1kHz), and High (10kHz). The EQ presets and the band values are as follows:

    • Xplod: Low: +10, Middle: +4, High: +4
    • Vocal: Low: +4, Middle: +8, High: +2
    • Edge: Low: +6, Middle: -2, High: +7
    • Cruise: Low: +3, Middle: +4, High: +2
    • Space: Low: +4, Middle: +5, High: +8
    • Gravity: Low: +8, Middle: 0, High: +2
    • Off (flat): Low: 0, Middle: 0, High: 0
    • Custom: Adjustable -10dB to +10dB for each band (Low, Middle, High)

Dynamic Soundstage Organizer (DSO): Sony's Dynamic Soundstage Organizer uses proprietary circuitry to induce subtle phase shifts, simulating a sound source that is placed higher than the actual speakers in the vehicle. For example, when the DSO function is used in a vehicle equipped with speakers mounted low in the front doors, it creates virtual speakers in the dash to raise the soundstage. This unit offers three levels of DSO, each with a larger and higher soundstage. You can store the DSO setting for each source.

Loudness: This feature allows you to listen to your music clearly at low volume levels by reinforcing the bass and treble. The bass level is increased to +4 dB at 100 Hz while the treble level is increased to +2 dB at 10 kHz.

Two Pair Of Preamp Outputs: The CDX-GT62IPW contains two pair of RCA preamp outputs - a front pair and another pair that can be set for the rear channels or for subwoofer operation. When set to subwoofer, the output becomes non-fading and a low pass filter is activated with a selectable cut-off frequency of 125Hz, 78Hz, or Off. You can adjust the subwoofer preamp output's volume level independently from the headunit's volume control from -10 to +10 in 1dB increments.

Front Panel Auxiliary Input: A front panel stereo 3.5mm mini-jack is provided to allow the connection of a portable audio source. Just connect your portable cassette, MD or MP3 player to this unit, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system. The volume level of the auxiliary input is adjustable from -8 to +18 dB to compensate for any difference between the unit and your portable device. The aux input can be deactivated in the menu so it doesn't appear as an available source.

Motion Display: This feature shows moving patterns and a spectrum analyzer on the display when turned on.

Auto Scroll: This feature allows long displayed items to scroll automatically across the display when the track is changed on a disc.

Dual Illumination: The unit's button illumination can be changed to Red or Blue. The illumination behind the rotary volume knob always remains blue and the unit's display remains White and Black regardless of the button illumination setting.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: Pressing the Off button once will turn off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remain on. This makes the clock display and face/button illumination "Keyed" instead of "Unit On" only. To turn the unit off completely, you must press the Off button for two seconds.

Contrast: The CDX-GT62IPW features an adjustable 7-step contrast level for the unit's display.

Dimmer: To change the brightness of the display you can set the CDX-GT62IPW to one of three dimmer modes - Dimmer Auto (dims the display automatically when you turn your vehicle's lights on), Dimmer Off (deactivates the dimmer), and Dimmer On (display always dim).

Auto Off: When installing in a vehicle without an accessory power wire at the radio location, you can set the unit to turn off all lighting a set amount of time after you turn the power off. The Auto Off feature can be set to 30 seconds, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or No.

Flip-Down/Detachable Face: The CDX-GT62IPW features a manual fold-down face which provides a larger display and greater protection for the player's CD-slot and your CD discs. In addition, the unit features a detachable face for theft prevention. The radio does not come with a protective face case.

Eject: The CD disc can be ejected with the power off. The CD player will automatically reinsert the disc if it's ejected but not removed for 15 seconds or more.

Mounting Angle: For flexibility of installation, this unit can be mounted between 0 (horizontal) and 45 degrees.

Wireless Remote Control: The headunit comes supplied with an IR wireless remote control (RM-X151) for easy operation.

Optional Wired Remote Control: This unit also has a 3.5mm minijack input for the optional RM-X4S wired rotary commander. In addition, the PAC SWI-PS steering wheel remote interface is compatible with this head unit. The SWI-PS interface allows you to retain the use of your steering wheel and/or rear seat radio controls when replacing the factory head unit in select vehicles with a Sony head unit with wired remote capability. In some GM vehicles, this adapter allows you to retain heater control buttons as well.

    External Device Controls

Built-In iPod Control: The headunit features a rear panel iPod dock connector on a 47" pigtail for connecting your Apple iPod. By connecting your iPod to the headunit's dock connector cable, you can listen to music stored on your iPod through your vehicle's stereo system while controlling the iPod from the Sony headunit. You can choose from the following search and play modes on the Sony headunit - Album, Artist, and Playlist. You can also repeat or shuffle each of these play modes as well as shuffle all tracks or repeat one track. When your vehicle is running or the ignition key of your vehicle is turned to the ACC position and the headunit is powered on, your iPod's battery will be charged during connection. The CDX-GT62IPW supports the following iPods models.

    • Fourth-generation iPod (ver.3.1.1)
    • Fifth-generation iPod (ver.1.2.1)
    • iPod photo (ver.1.2.1)
    • iPod mini (ver.1.4.1)
    • First-generation iPod nano (ver.1.3.1)

    • iPod classic 80/120/160GB (ver.1.0PC)
    • iPod touch 1st/2nd generation* (ver.1.1.1)

Notes: The head unit is not compatible with the 4th generation iPod nano. *The unit will play and control, but will not charge the 2nd generation iPod touch. When your iPod is connected to the headunit's dock connector, the iPod's controls are locked and operation from the iPod cannot be performed. Video and photo function of iPod is not supported.
