Liven up your daily commute with the sweet sounds of Sony's GT Series full-range speakers. You'll hear new clarity and impact in your music, and you'll find yourself cranking up the stereo to check out little details that you've never noticed before in a familiar tune.

The XS-GT6936A 6"x9" speakers feature strong polyolefine cones, reinforced with Aramid fibers for extra rigidity, that dish out potent low notes for great drum and bass reproduction. The dome tweeters treat your high notes with care, adding liveliness to the guitars and vocals. A soft cone midrange driver complements the lows and highs so the vocals, keyboards, and other midrange instruments blend together smoothly. The tough treated cloth surrounds last in the demanding car environment.

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Sounds great in my 07 Corolla

Written by: Eric from OKC on February 9, 2011

2007 Toyota Corolla
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My stock 6x9 speakers were manufactured in a cheap factory, are made of what appears
to be fiber paper and are stamped 17.5 watts. These Sony speakers give beautiful
sound. I should have done this years ago. My new Kenwood HU puts 50W to the rear
speakers and this is a good match.

Some issues:
The Crutchfield-supplied speaker harness is too short on both sides for my 07 Corolla.
I had to do some finagling with the existing wiring to just barely get this thing to reach the
receptacles. But hey, they're free and I got them to work in the end. Why not make the
wires an inch or two longer Crutchfield? (no big complaint here considering
they're "free")

I badly cracked my rear plastic deck lid while trying to lift it up. Be careful here - I think
sunshine into the back window weakens plastic in this area. I don't want to know what
the part costs. Luckily, it's not very noticeable in the back corner of my car. Could have
been avoided if I slowed down.

I obviously don't have a good 1/8" drill bit because I could not drill the 4 holes needed to
properly mount the speakers. I used zip ties. Well, why drill holes? The ties worked
great for me.

Finally - WOW. What a difference. These sound great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The bass response and midrange definition of these speakers is a bit better than my OEM Ford units. Historically, I think, Ford puts nicer speakers in their cars than GM. In my experience, when you change out the junk GM speakers, the difference is often dramatic.
Not so much with Ford or Lincoln.
I am slightly disappointed by the efficiency of these replacement speakers. They do not play quite as loud as the factory speakers, changing the front to back balance of the sound. Since I did not change the (low power) factory amplifier, this is noticable. Still, a nice upgrade.

I just wanted to state that these speakers fit in the package shelf of my 1999
cavalier sedan with absolutely no modification to the car or the speaker. It is
close to the torsion bar for the trunk however it does not hit. The package
shelf fits over the speakers properly.

Overall these speakers are a lot better then the poor quality Kicker 07DS5250 I
had previously. Good highs and mids and bass for the average listener, If you
are an audiophile or bass freak you may not be satisfied with these speakers.
These speakers greatly surpassed my expectations.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very Easy to install using the supplied Master sheets. Only took about 20 minutes. The installation is made even simpler by using the speaker connectors supplied with the speakers. The sound quality is much improved over the factory 6 x 9 speakers, great bass response, very clear highs, and midrange. I really like the sound of the new speakers, and the price seems reasonable for such an improvement in sound quality. You cannot go wrong.

2006 Jeep Commander
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these in the front doors of an 06 Commander. They are OK but the bass is not as good as I hoped. SInce the Commander stereo only routes bass to these speakers the mid range and treble aren't used. I would probably recommend the 6 1/2" Polks if I had to do it again.

H.O.P. Woofers: The woofers are made of Highly Oriented Polyolefine (H.O.P.) with aramid fibers, which is 30 times as strong as regular poly. Use of this material results in less distortion and better, quicker bass response.

Treated Cloth Surrounds: Each woofer uses a treated cloth surround for added reliability and efficiency.

PEN Midranges: Each speaker uses a 2-3/8" Pen (Polyethlylene Naphthalate) Diaphragm midrange for great linearity, smooth response and accurate mid-bass.

PEI Tweeters: Each speaker also features a 7/16" PEI (Polyetherimide) dome tweeter for fast transient highs with lower distortion.

Grilles: The speakers come supplied with a pair of black mesh grilles with a silver accent across the front of the grilles.
