Easy setup and good directions with this unit. Shopped a lot before deciding on the sony. Was a good choice for sound quality, real surround effect and price too. Buy it, you'll like it!

Great surround/DVD package

I have been enjoying this system for around 8-10 months now and could not be happier. I needed a up-conversion DVD player and was deciding on a boxed surround sound system to go with it. We have wood floors so wires going to the rear would be more of a pain than I desired, and most of the decent 2.1 surround systems are drastically more expensive. The HDX267W fulfills all my needs and continues to supply features that I consider to be a plus.
The main benefit of this system is the sound for the price level. Once the rear speakers are set up properly on stands and directed correctly the system will self-calibrate to provide the ultimate sound quality. Speaking of the rear speakers, many people have complained due to the system not being "truly" wireless since you must wire the rear speakers into a rear amplifier with a wireless transmitter. Coming from an engineer trust me when I say that a true wireless system with dedicated amplifiers in each rear speaker is going to both cost more and sound worse (for the rear surround that is).
The only con that I can truthfully give this system is the lack of control over the EQ settings. You have a few (auto, music, movie) but beyond that only control over the bass module. In the end, this is more of a consideration because the sound quality is so adaptive and great, I find myself forgetting about EQ control.
I use this unit in the center of the long wall of a 24x20 room and it is more than adequately powered.
