    Good sound for the price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased at scratch and dent sale so it was a good value. Decent but not extraordinary sound quality.

Pros: lowest profile of any sound bar so it fits under any LCD tv

    Cons: none worth mentioning

    Reliable and consistent

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I read all of the reviews on Crutchfield and several on other websites, so I knew what to expect from the CT-150. It meets my expectations for our use in a spare bedroom turned into a TV room (approx. 12' x 13'). It's a SONY, so I knew it would sound crisp and clear. I do have to turn it up to around 22 to geta good volume on it, the max volume is 50. I don't have any problems with connecting to our Vizio TV or using the remote. Then again, I'm also not trying to program everything to work together, using different remotes for the TV and speakers is not that big of a deal for me. On a side note, I also purchased the CT-260 (300 watt) SONY sound bar system for a smaller room, the CT-260 sounds a lot better and offers better features.

Pros: SONY reliability, clean sound, adequate volume (for its power), nice design

    Cons: No blue tooth

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this sound bar to go with my LG HD 3D Smart TV. I had a small budget and I needed the best sound for my awesome TV. This sound bar is fabulous, I hooked up my TV, Blueray, and DirectTV, and I can change the sound quality based on what I am watching (movie, news, music etc). I highly recommend this product and I will purchase another for my home office TV. -CB

Pros: Great sound, easy set, and easy to use.

Cons: Close to perfect but the only critic I can make is that the sub woofer has a cord and that limits where you can put it.

nice sound bar. quality sound, 3d pass thru, plenty of connection options including multiple hdmi. can't beat the price (under $200,00 ) liked it so much bought one for a friend who loves it too. best for mid size to small rooms,

Pros: multiple hdmi, very good sound,3d pass thru, plenty of connection options, good price for well made quality system.

Cons: complicated remote, but it gives you a lot of control and options like nite mode, and several sound processing options. sub is wired to soundbar so you can't place it too far from soundbar, make sure this is ok in your space.

Very good system for the money. I was happy with the ease of setup, the options for connectivity and the sound. There are systems that sound better, but for the price point this system has very good sound and is appropriate for a small or mid sized room or personal viewing.

Pros: Ease of Setup, many connection options and configuration options. Good sound for the price point.

Cons: Not the best sound for larger rooms like a movie room. This is a smaller system.

reserched this product extensively, first time ever purchase said idem. Very unhappy with sound quality, and not being compatable with TV remote, Even after asking "Crutchfield Tech." but should have realized by the explanation given he wasn't familar with this product either.

    Pros: compact unit

Cons: sound quality poor no matter which setting, will not operate with another manufacture remote (possibly not even another Sony remote)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A perfect match for my Sony Bravia 32". Hook up was easy, just be sure to have enough HDMI cables and Optical cables. I am please with the sound and the fact it does not have a wireless sub was not an issue. It is set up in our bedroom and is all I expected as far as improving the fidelity and depth lacking form the TV. For the price it is more than expected. After a few days I have been able to get a balanced and better overall sound. If not carefull sub can be a little over powering. The sound bar I found sounds better with the center channel set to -2 .This lets the outer speakers to be heard. (surround effect). Great value. Perfect for small den, in home office or bedroom. Consider before buying the room you are going to set up in.

    Pros: Easy hook up.

Cons: May take a few days to "Tweak"

I purchased a 50" flat screen tv...great picture but sound was weak and tinny. I researched many audio options for our needs and selected the Sony HT-CT150 because the size was correct and reviews were very positive. I am very pleased with the audio now and enjoy movies that much more.

Pros: Affordable, great sound and many audio options

Cons: Takes a while to get everything right...but well worth the effort

Sony HT-CT150 -- good add-on to Sony TV

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got this for Xmas; installed after holidays. Replaced old Panasonic 5+SW system that was a hassle to use. Have DirecTV HR24D-500 HD receiver/recorder, Sony KDL-40Z4100 TV, Sony player DVP-NS710H, and Roku XDS player, all with HDMI. Also have attic TV antenna feed. Sound bar physical setup very easy. Only problem: how to minimize number and use of remotes. After fooling around, decided Sony stuff would not interact well with DirecTV ("Sat") and Roku boxes. So, put those directly on separate TV HDMI inputs. Connected DVD to sound bar HDMI input, and sound bar output to TV HDMI input. Ran optical audio from TV to sound bar. Now control everything but Roku from DirecTV remote. Turning on the Sat box turns on TV, which automatically turns on sound bar ("Bravia"). Inserting DVD tells TV to switch to DVD via the sound bar connection. Removing DVD sends TV back to the active Sat input. Use DirecTV remote to switch TV to Roku input; Roku is always on anyway. Use Roku remote to select Roku channel and play. Use DirecTV remote to switch back to Sat or Ant inputs to watch TV. DirecTV remote adjusts/mutes sound bar volume. Only need sound bar remote occasionally to adjust audio modes ("standard" OK 90% of time for me) and SW settings. Dropped SW level to -1 setting and increased treble to +1 due to room and placement conditions. Sound far clearer than TV speakers, MUCH more bass, pretty good surround sound effects. Wife happy: no user learning curve, mostly just 1 controller. All good.

Pros: Easy physical setup. TV remote window JUST clears top of sound bar. Flat spkr cables run UNDER TV base without squashing; keeps cable clutter down. Bravia communications work fine with different vintage Sony components. Sound quality is very noticeable improvement over TV spkrs, especially bass.

Cons: Spkr cables between SW and sound bar are kind of short - were OK for me, tho. Sound bar status display on top front of SW is pretty dim, espec with room lights on. Directions too slim - were not much help in handling non-Sony connections. Needed 3 HDMI TV inputs to handle my setup to minimize remotes required. Sound separation effects are not as effective as hoped (but not too bad); very little surround sound (may need to adjust settings some more).

    Ok product

Unit looks nice and is an improvement over the TV speakers. Thought that with a total speaker output of 200w that I would get more volume then I did. Overall it connected easily to my Sony TV and with an HDMI cable to the ARC connector the TV and speakers reconize each other and play well together.

Pros: Works well and looks great

    Cons: expected more volume

Delivered exactly on time and in great condition. The system sounds excellent and was everything I had hoped for.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After reading reviews I purchased this unit and couldn't be happier - After purchasing a LG 47" flat screen for den which I mounted on an articulating arm I found myself continually backing up dvr to understand speech - speakers in tv were lousy - I was able to fabricate a bracket to sound bar and mount it under tv so it aims same direction as tv - was worried about heat from bar after reading accompanying instructions but no problem - no heat noticed from sound bar - all powered goods are located in sub-woofer - sounds great - not as good as 7.1 system I have in home theater room but that's to be expected

Pros: nice sound for reasonable price - ease of connection due to multiple inputs including several hdmi - no longer having to back up dvr to understand speech

Cons: none for me - sub-woofer is hard wired to sound bar and is where remote receiver is located which may be a problem for some people

sound is wonderful...but the salesman told me 4 feet was enough HDMI cable...and that the power for the unit was in the sound bar itself. Now I have the product..but not nearly enough length of cable to reach the sub-woofer ...where the actual brains and power of the system are located. I am very disapointed that I was given wrong information. It is costing me time...that I could be enjoying the results I expected.

    Pros: sounds good

Cons: you need about 12 feet of cable to reach the subwoofer

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After reading multiple reviews on CNET, Amazon, and Crutchfield, I finally bought this sound bar. Is it the ultimate high-tech surround sound, no, but it is a great sounding sound bar to enhance a TV in a small room. I have watched movies, sports, and listened to music through this system and I am impressed with it's capabilities. The non-wireless sub-woofer is a drawback but if your in a small room it really isn't an issue.

Pros: Compact , easy set-up, multiple connections for various components and very reasonable price.

    Cons: Non-wireless subwoofer.

    Great Value

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I found out about this product from which gave it very favourable reviews and was among the . I think it is a great buy and have been very happy with my purchase. My online game sounds are dramatically improved and much more rich and fill up the room which makes my gaming experience much greater. The fact that the subwoofer is not wireless actually works well with the set up I was looking for so I didn't consider it a negative. Overall easy set up and integration with my DVR and other Sony Products (TV, Playstation)

Pros: For the price range this system along with most Sony products has great connectivity (3 HDMI) and no other system matches this at this price. Overall a very good sounding system with nice bass that complements the TV/movie watching/gaming experience.

Cons: Sub-woofer is not wireless (and has to be connected to sound bar) and also the Infrared receiver is on the subwoofer so needs to be somewhere aligned with remote control which limits placement locations so this needs to be considered based on individual preference for speaker set up options.

I bought the system after reading a review on the Crutchfield site. It replaced a pair of Bose 201s, a JBL center speaker an a Yamaha 8" powered sub. I couldn't be happier. Sony seems to have a knack to produce quality electronics at a reasonable price. The system was added to a Sony BD player and a Sony tuner-amp.

Pros: Very easy set up. Unobtrusive. Great sound (TV, BD, Pandora, CD).

Cons: I had a little challenge getting the amps' FM output into the system. I ended up using the headphone output from the amp into the RCA plugs on the CT-150

So far, so good. Sound quality is good, don't expect surround sound, but pretty good punch, so it fills my small living room with an ample sound experience. Easy to control. I'm happy, it was what the Crutchfield tech said it would be. Good deal if you have a small space and can't/won't run a bunch of wires.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This set servers its purpose. I haven't played around with all the settings, and I can't say that I think the "surround" works all that well...but it's a single speaker and a sub, so I didn't really expect that much. Good sound for what it is. It's no replacement for a full home theater system, but it has an attractive design and is a huge space saver.

Pros: Lots of hook ups. Easy set up. Good sound.

Cons: Not a replacement if you're expecting full home theater type sound. Great otherwise.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off, I'll say that I know this is not a Bose system. I'm not ready to spend $600+ on a sound system. I had an LG sound bar with subwoofer before this one and I think this one is A LOT better. The bass really hits hard when you want it to and the high are nice and clear. The only annoying thing is that my Time Warner remote will not work with the subwoofer, therefore I need to use two remotes at all time. No big deal, I got used to it.

Pros: Price was great. Nice bass. NIGHT MODE feature. Easy to hook up and use.

Cons: Still have to use the supplied remote (since I do not have a Sony TV).

As promoted, and reviewed, this system is definitely worth the money. The sound quality is good. Its easy to set up. The most prominent feature, and selling point, is the HDMI hookups. Its truly amazing the competition hasn't caught up with this more than obvious selling point. I did purchase a harmony remote which has made life much, much easier.

Pros: Price, ease of hook up and sound quality (for the money).

Cons: Remote is only useful for this component due to lack of programming instructions for other components. Buy a harmony remote.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Really enjoy this product. A great improvement over my TV speakers. The only negative for some will be that sub is not wireless. For me this was not an issue. Make sure to adjust the bass as per the manual. The unit ship with the bass turned very low. A great value for your money. This unit will outperform many other more expensive units which justify there price by their wireless subs. Sony quality is evident.

    Pros: Inputs and sound quality

Cons: Brand specific cable between sub and speaker bar.

Overall, I am pleased with the sound bar. I don't intend to push it's limits but, for what I want, it sounds good.

My only complaint is the subwoofer. It has volume buttons on the top of it that cannot be disabled. This can be a problem when you have a curious toddler.

Pros: good price...reliable (thus far) Sony quality

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I found that most sound bar products (usually 2.1 channel) that I tested at the store did not improve voices. They let the Left/Right channels dominate too much just like your TV's built in speakers. That makes watching a movie at lower volumes (cause your kids are asleep) annoying. This 3.1 channel system fixes that. Also has a wide variety of inputs to accommodate all possible equipment rather than just your newest electronics.

Pros: cost, vocals, installation, ease of use, equalizer presets

Cons: bass is a little weak

Almost anything would be better than the sound from our TV. The Sony HT-CT150 was the answer for our 12'x18' room. Granted, it's not surround sound by any stretch of the imagination, but the sound clarity and quality of the subwoofer's bass are worth every penny. Easy to set up, it included all the cables we needed, even the fiber optic. No compatability problem with our non-Sony pre-HD TV. Takes only 2-3 seconds for the sound to start. The different modes (news, movie, sports, etc.) are useful in getting the best sound mix.

Pros: Ease of setup and use, sound quality, reasonable price

Cons: Not "Home theater" quality surround sound; another remote to deal with

We ordered this package to enhance our sound quality to be better than our t.v. so that way we could play music videos louder with better sound. but it was way to quiet and underpowered. i normally never have a problem with anything that i order from crutchfield but i feel let down on this. not near enough volume and no boom from the sub. i am definitely going to be sending this back. i would NOT recommend this if you are looking for loud sound, and a pounding sub

    Purchased after tons of research...

Written By MDC, Afton, VA on Tuesday, January 03, 2012

I researched sound bars for months, read the reviews and even looked at the Consumer Reports rankings. Bottom line, most sound bars are way too expensive for my wallet, yes I love good sound, thats why I kept looking. I settled on the Sony, liked that it had multiple HDMI and optical connections and it supported all of the sound types from broadcast TV to BluRay. Basically the Sony is in line with all of your components with a single connection to the TV. Hook up is a snap, mastering all of the setting takes a few days of listening and adjusting for fine tuning. If ths HDMI control feature could sense the component is use and switch to that source this sound bar would be a 10. Unfortunately it has to be another Sony product. After 3 days of programming remotes I just about have everything I need on one remote, still need to go back to the Sony remote to switch back from a BluRay to normal TV mode and to power on and off the Sony. This is a small price to pay for having really good sound.

My bottom line - it looks good, sounds good and was affordable.

Pros: Sound bar portion is small and easily fits just under my Plasma, is compact and has a nice felt cover, no lights and the word Sony is on top of the sound bar, basically all you see is the sound bar with no exposed speakers or lights that take your attention away from the TV screen. Also like the connections between the sub woofer and the sound bar, would be better if it was wireless, but it supports HMDI and optical digital. The unit delivers a nice deep bass.

Cons: Several previous reviews said it was hard to set it up. Its not plug and play, however you can master the settings fairly quickly. This unit has an HDMI control setting for other Sony "Sync" components that probably works real well, problem is I do not have other Sony components so it took awhile to figure out how to control all of my components without having to use 4 remotes. How about an industry standard on this type of stuff?

I am a Sony man, read all the reviews, convinced those that didn't like this simple product didnt understand the setup process. Its not surround sound, but crank it up and the sound will blow you away. Perfect solution for those new tv's that have the speakers pointing out the back of the package as opposed to the audience.

Pros: Setup was easy. Order process and delivery was easy.

Cons: Placed sound bar in front of tv, cord looked a little industrial so I ran it under the stand for the tv.

Great sound for the price. Won't outperform an actual 5.1 setup, but adds lows, and better clarity over built-in TV speakers. Number of inputs provides a lot of flexibility. I added this to a small room with a wall mounted 52" Sony LCD, a PS3, and a DVR. TV, gaming, and blu-ray experiences are all much better than using the built in TV speakers.

I gave this five stars for what it is. Meaning a sound bar with sub woofer. Not comparing this to a true surround sound, because that, it is not. This is a nice alternative to a true surround sound system if you are looking to upgrade the tv sound without spending a lot of money.

If you are looking for a sound bar, I recommend this as well as buying it from Crutchfield. I had to call Crutchfield to help with the set up and have to say the lifetime customer service is a plus to have. Dont know of to many other companies that can offer the same at a fair price.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to return this product. I have it set up with a Sony Bravia TV. I've been toggling back and forth between it and the stock TV speakers and it's hard to tell much difference. If anything the stock TV speakers sound better. Now, I'm not asking for a full on home theatre experience. But, for this price I expect at least a noticeable improvement.

Great value for a soundbar system

Written By GTronnics, Fort Wayne, IN on Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Well... it's a soundbar! What did you expect? It's definitely not like my Onkyo 5.1 or 7.1 system, but what it did to my 10x15 ft room was more than I needed. People who complain about the subwoofer being weak need to find the adjustment for the subwoofer level. It's set to 0 by default and a max of +6. I had mine at +3 and the bass coming out of our basement was enough that I can hear it all the way up to our bedroom on the second floor. So I switch it to night mode when my kids are playing video games. I watched Iron Man 2 as soon as I hooked it up and was very satisfied. Unpacking took longer than hooking it up. The surround sound was a bit faint, but not bad considering there are no speakers behind me at all. So it definitely deliverd what it promised and even more than what I expected. Also did I mention the oh so many ways you can hook it up? So no worries on transfering it to another TV or even a computer. Plus the so many different audio format that it supports. 3D ready? Yes, I didn't even care for that, but it's there!

after doing some long and hard searching for th best product and price i finally
came across and decided on this sony. granted its not a surround system, but
for my needs this one does the job better than i had hoped for. loud, clear and
all the bells and whistles with 3 hdmi inputs to add all my stuff for. if you have
the bravia sync setup its a piece of cake, up and running with everything in less
than 30 mins including the wiring. you will need extra hdmi cables, i had to buy
2 and 2 of the digital input cables as well. so tack on another 50 or so bucks to
your cost. my mom in law is very hard of hearing and we used to have to keep
the tv vol up very loud. too loud that it would make the rest of us deaf. now i
barely go above 20 with this set up and it does the job perfectly. if you need
better clarity, more rich sound get this asap. if you want a surround set up than
this isnt for you although it fills our very large living room quite nicely

Very impressed with this soundbar. This system was set up within 5 minutes.
Hooked it up to my 3 year old sony kdl-xbr40 and when I turn the TV on, the
system turns on automatically and the volume can be controlled with the TV's
remote. This system is great if you live in a condo or apartment..otherwise
would make a great bedroom system. Wouldnt reccommend if you are
expecting huge sound like a 5.1 system. You also get a huge amount of inputs
in the other sound bar for this price can compete! 5 stars!

I purchased this sound bar to go with a new 40 inch Sony LCD TV and Blu Ray .player. The sound bar works and sounds great with the Blu Ray player. .However, with the TV, the sound does not go very loud at all. I think the reason .is I am running the TV sound off the TV and not off the satellight receiver. I .have Dishnetwork dual tuner and that is located in another part of the house .so I can not run the sound bar through the HDMI hook up when I use the .satellight receiver. I don't really unserstand why the volume is so low hooked .up this way as I have an HDMI and Digital Optial running from the TV to the .sound bar. I guess I'll live with it until I can get another receiver for the .basement.

It gives a full sound and is so easy to work. We have a Sony TV and it
interfaces with it perfectly. When the TV is turned on it automatically turns
on the sound system and routes the signal through it. The volume control on the
TV operates the volume control on the sound system. That may be because both
units are the same brand. I don't know. The only drawback is that the digital
read-out is too small to read from further that about 5 feet, which means I
can't sit on the couch and reset any of the functions.

    Supplemental Sound

Written By Steve, Roc, NY on Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Supplemental sound is precisely what I purchased this bar for.
I didn't expect (nor did I want) surround sound. These speakers do PERFECTLY to
supplement the incredibly poor sound from a flat panel TV speaker. I am using them
with a Sony Bravia that just replaced my Sony Wega (that had great sound) and I love the
Sony "Sync" that the TV assumes control of the sound bar since it is Sony as well and
you never have to bother with it. Also it is nice that it routes all of your equipment thru it
and sends to the TV via a single HDMI cable. All in all, a good purchase, and I might add
that it was scratch and dent sale (of which there was no damage) so I save $50 and got
    exactly what I expected.

Oh, and thanks Crutchfield for your amazing transit times and customer service.

The subwoofer isn't wireless so you have to place it near the TV but that's OK with my set

I would recommend this product as a good entry level soundbar.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I found this to be a great system at a good price, and very easy to hook up. I researched a number of these systems on line and found this best fits our needs. I believe it has the most input options (3 HDMI, 2 optical, etc.) in it's price range, and can handle 3D. While we don't use 3D that much (yet) it's good to have the option. I hooked up my iTouch to listen to radio stations via internet and that works great as well. Yes, it's not a $1,000 audio system, but it covers our needs very well. The negatives, for some having all the connection going into the subwoofer vs. the sound bar, and needing line of sight to the subwoofer for the remote to work isn't great. Not a problem for us but I would think about it this works for you before you buy. The remote is pretty cluttered, but I've had not problems with using it so far. Overall, it's great for what we use it for, and having a "realitively low cost stereo" and TV soundbar for us works well.

Great price and of course the Sony brand name was the reason I purchased this
soundbar for my small living room. However, I have been underwhelmed to this point by
this product. The non-wireless subwoofer and the fact that it also serves as the main
hub for connections makes it very difficult to place anywhere else besides right next to
the TV and other components. The HDMI input options are very nice and you will only
find similar input numbers on more expensive models. Quite dissapointed in the overall
performance of the soundbar though. I realize you can't expect too much, especially with
the price I paid, but this soundbar doesn't "fill" the room whatsoever. The bass is barely
noticeble from the sub and the Soundfield options are worthless as they all sound the
same. So in the end, I guess you always get what you pay for.

Great value in a sound bar especially if you have other Sony components. Sound
is much better than TV speakers. Easy to set up with a good set of instructions.
I like the size because the bar takes up very little room in front of the TV.
Bass component sits very nicely along side the entertainment center.
I would give it a "five" except that volume has to be turned up quite a bit to
appreciate the full stereo effect and our family room is not big enough for
that. The other criticism I have concerns the remote. Too many functions being
controlled by too few buttons. You have to remember the sequence of steps each
time you change mode, bass, treble, etc or you have to start over. I have to
refer to the instructions almost every time I want to adjust the sound. Once I
get the sound adjusted it is great. Wish for a simpler remote.

I had pieced together a Sony surround system over the years, but we moved into a flat
roof house with a large, tiled living room that made it almost impossible to run wire for
surround speakers. So I had my receiver, sub, and two huge floor speakers with the
rest of the system in the closet. I needed something with a small footprint but with better
sound than my Samsung LCD speakers (which faced the wall). I researched
soundbars for a while. Knowing this wasn't meant to replace my true surround system, I
didn't want to break the bank, but I wasn't sure if a soundbar was going to push enough
sound. Sony HT-CT150 to the rescue. My wife and I were surprised how great it

The ONLY drawback to this system is that the a/v remote that comes with the system looks cluttered and ill-planned. The volume and channel rockers could've been bigger and better placed at the top or middle of the remote.

I've watched two action movies with it so far and I'm really impressed with the clarity of sound and the overall audio experience, compared to the internal TV speakers alone! Soundbar & Powered Subwoofer

Soundbar Speaker: The HT-CT150 Home Theater System's soundbar speaker (SS-MCT150) is equipped with three full-range 2" x 3-5/8" cone type drivers in a bass reflex enclosure. The soundbar speaker can be securely placed on a stand or shelf using eight integrated rubber-feet or mounted to the wall with its two rear-mounted keyhole slots and mounting screws (screws sold separately). The SS-MCT150 act as your home theater systems front and center speakers as well as giving you the effect that you have rear speakers positioned behind you.

Note: The soundbar speaker's keyhole slots are spaced 10-3/16" apart.

Powered Subwoofer Module: The HT-CT150 Home Theater System's powered subwoofer module (SA-WCT150) is equipped with a 5-1/8" cone type subwoofer in a bass-reflex enclosure powered by a built-in digital Sony S-Master amplifier. The built-in digital amplifier also provides power to the system's soundbar speaker. The digital amplifier is rated at 50 watts per channel for the soundbar speaker unit and powered subwoofer. The powered subwoofer module also features the HT-CT150 system's audio/video inputs and outputs, as well as basic controls and an LCD display.

System Cable: The Sony HT-CT150 includes a 10' proprietary speaker cable which plugs into the rear-panel of the soundbar speaker and the rear-panel of the powered subwoofer module.

    Audio & Video Features

S-Force Surround: By using a powerful digital Sony S-Master amplifier and DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology, realistic surround sound can be generated from this two-piece surround sound system. Unlike other "virtual surround" technologies, rear sound is generated from the soundbar speaker using sophisticated digital sound processing and does not need to be bounced off of side walls. No matter what the size or shape of the room or what is on the wall, it is possible to hear sounds from behind you without needing to place speakers behind you.

Digital Surround Formats: The HT-CT150 supports the following digital audio formats.

    • Dolby Pro Logic II: Creates five full-bandwidth output channels from 2 channel sources.
    • Dolby Digital: All six channels in this format are recorded separately for superior channel separation.
    • DTS: Provides 5.1 discrete channels of high quality digital audio.
    • Linear PCM: Linear PCM is a method of encoding audio information digitally which can have up to 8 channels of uncompressed audio. This wider bandwidth allows for high resolution audio which is closer to the original. This system can accommodate 2ch LPCM through its digital audio or HDMI inputs, as well as 5.1ch and 7.1ch LPCM through its HDMI inputs.

Note: This system does not support Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD or Linear PCM sampling frequencies of no more than 48 kHz.

Sound Fields: You can select from one of the following sound fields to optimize your surround sound experience.

    • Standard: Suits various sources.
    • Movie: Recreates powerful and realistic sound, along with clear dialogue.
    • Drama: Suited for TV dramas.
    • Music: Suited for music programs or music videos on Blu-ray Discs/DVDs.
    • Sports: Produces the play-by-play commentary clearly and realistic sound with surround effects, such as cheering.
    • News: Produces the announcer's voice clearly.
    • Game: Produces powerful and realistic sound, suited for video games.
    • 2CH Stereo: Suited for music CDs.
    • Portable Audio: Suited to replay portable compressed audio source (available only on DM Port).

Note: You can set a different sound field for each input source.

Speaker Level: You can adjust the level (+/-6dB) and balance of the soundbar speaker and the powered subwoofer. This setting will be applied to all sound fields.

Bass & Treble: You can adjust the bass and treble independently from -6 to +6 dB.

A/V Sync: You can delay the sound using this function when the image is slower than the sound when you are playing a Dolby, Digital, DTS or Linear PCM source connected by a digital audio input or HDMI.

Audio DRC: This feature narrows the dynamic range of a Dolby Digital/DTS sound track for enjoying movies at low volume.

Night Mode: You can enjoy sound effects and hear the dialogue clearly even at a low volume levels using this function.

Max Volume Limiter: You can limit the maximum volume level of the system from 1 to 49 in 1-step increments.

Digital & Analog Audio Inputs: The Sony HT-CT150 Home Theater System features both analog audio and digital audio inputs for connecting external audio sources such as your DVD player and CD player.

    • Digital Audio: The HT-CT150 features 2 optical inputs and 1 coaxial input.
    • Analog Audio: The system also features 2 pair of RCA stereo analog inputs.

HDMI (ver.1.4): The Sony HT-CT150 features 3 HDMI (ver.1.4) inputs and 1 HDMI (ver.1.4) output which supports 1080/24p, x.v.Color, Deep Color, and 3D, as well as ARC & HDMI control. The system can detect and receive the best possible video and audio signals from all connected devices via HDMI, making connection and performance as simple as plugging in a single wire. Sony's HDMI Active Intelligence, transmits both audio and video signals through one HDMI cable. The system's HDMI inputs/output support 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p.

Note: The HT-CT150 system does not feature composite, S-video, or component video inputs/outputs.

1080/24p: The Sony HT-CT150 allows you to watch movies at their native frame rate 24p format (24 frames per second) when paired with a 24p playback device like a Blu-ray Disc Player.

3D Pass Through: The Sony HT-CT150 is compatible with 3D-ready Blu-ray disc movies, video games and other 3D content through its HDMI (v.1.4) connections.

Note: 3D viewing requires 3D-ready source with 3D content, 3D-ready HDTV, 3D glasses, and high-speed HDMI cable. Other 3D accessories may also be required.

x.v.Color: The Sony HT-CT150 supports x.v.Color, offering a wider color range than the current broadcast standard. For the x.v.Color feature to be useful, the entire video production chain must be compatible (camera-editing-format-player-display).

Deep Color: The Sony HT-CT150 also supports Deep Color which allows the color depth of video signals passing through HDMI to be raised. The number of colors that could be expressed by 1 pixel was 24 bits (16,777,216 colors) with a standard HDMI jack. However, the number of colors which can be expressed by 1 pixel is 36 bits with a Deep Color enabled HDMI jack. Since the gradation of the depth of a color can be expressed more finely with more bits, continuous color changes can be more smoothly expressed. For the Deep Color feature to be useful, the entire video production chain must be compatible (camera-editing-format-player-display).

Note: x.v. Color and Deep Color technology are supported only when source product, HDMI cable, media and HDTV all support those features.

Standby Pass-Through: You can conveniently access all your HDMI connected devices without having to power on the HT-CT150 system.

ARC (Audio Return Channel): This feature allows audio to be sent from your compatible HDTV to the HT-CT150 system through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your HDTV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television.

    Convenience Features

Display Dimmer: The brightness of the powered subwoofer modules front-panel display can be set to one of two brightness levels.

Sleep Timer: You can set the system to turn off at a preset time when you want to fall asleep listening to music. You can preset the time in 10-minute increments from 10-90 minutes.

Auto Standby: You can reduce the system's power consumption. The system enters standby mode automatically when you do no operate the system for approximately 30 minutes and the system is not outputting sound for approximately 30 minutes.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The HT-CT150 comes supplied with a full-function IR remote control (RM-AAU072) for wireless operation of the system, which is also pre-programmed to operate other Sony audio/video equipment. You can also change the factory settings of the input buttons on the remote to suit the components in your system.

Bravia Theater Sync: Sony's Bravia Theater Sync feature allows you to easily manage select BRAVIA televisions and Sony HDMI audio and video components with a single remote. By connecting Sony components that are compatible with the HDMI Control function with a HDMI cable, operation is simplified in the following ways.

    • One-Touch-Play: When you playback a component such as a DVD/Blu-ray Disc Player, the receiver and the TV are turned on automatically and switch to the appropriate HDMI input.
    • System Audio Control: While watching TV, you can select to output the sound from the TV speaker or the speakers connected to the receiver.
    • System Power Off: When you turn off the TV, the receiver and connected components are also turned off simultaneously.
